This seventh volume of the manga adaptation of the Light Novel series Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? was one of the best of the series. In part this is because the materials to be adapted were shorter at not even a full book, but still it was a great job. Also, they introduce Welf Crozzo.

The book mostly adapts the fourth volume of the LN series, and deals with Bell's new notoriety for accomplishing the feat of reaching Level 2 and thus becoming the fastest person to ever level up by far. In doing so, he smashes his idol (who he is secretly in love with) Aiz Wallenstein's record (the previous fastest level up), and gets some animosity from goddess Loki and some more jealous fellow adventurers. Fortunately for him and Hestia, Freya is able to redirect the nosiness of Loki. This leads Loki to warn Hestia (despite their dislike of each other) that she thinks Freya has some hidden agenda towards her and Bell, given how Freya went out of her way to help Hestia and Bell when she is the pinnacle of power and they are a poor familia. Oh if Loki only knew how right she was.

In this volume, as I said already, we meet Welf and see the interactions of the young blacksmith with Lily, who, to say the least, isn't thrilled with Bell hiring the first smith he makes friends with. The funny dynamic of Welf and Lily is portrayed in the art in a way that brings the scenes to life. Lily's pouting at Bell's actions without consulting her and at Welf's teasing are quite amusing.

Of course, the main things this volume did, like the story in the fourth volume which it is adapting, are expanding the world of Dungeon, introducing Welf, and setting up the events of the fifth LN volume via the warnings of Lyu about the dangers of the Dungeon and how just switching from lower to upper floors can be quite deadly. Oh, and it also explores the cool new magic abilities Bell has gained.

The end of this volume transitions to the next story by having the first few scenes that show some new characters that are very important in said volume and after. The title of that chapter even outright states they are doing so.

The art was, as always great. Whether it be making the amusing scenes funnier, showing the few battle scenes, or showing Welf's smithing, it was terrific. Indeed, the scene of Welf smithing and creating Bells new weapon was perhaps the best one in the manga. Like with the LN scene it adapts, the manga captures the intensity of Welf's dedication to his craft, and views on a personal subject to him, and it is just as absorbing as the said LN scene.

Aiz and others of Loki Familia don't appear but for a brief time, just as in the source material, but when they do appear, it is a treat to see a more human side to them. It seems that Bell's actions against the Minotaur, though sloppy, were impressive enough in the sheer determination they showed (especially given his level) to inspire others. This human side where they are so motivated and passionate makes them more endearing and better characters for it. The scene brought this forth in a way that the original scene in the novel couldn't do by itself.

This was a fun story that was both a breather episode of sorts and heavy on worldbuilding. I recommend it and look forward to future volumes of this manga adaptation.

Rating: 5/5 Stars.

After reaching level 2 in record time Bell hasn't had time to really see what he is capable of now but all that aside we get an inside view of a meeting of gods and goddesses called the Denatus where the divine discuss matters which rarely affect civilians but more often affect the adventurers themselves such as the custom of giving newly leveled heroes nicknames. We get a good feel for some of these entities (at least those that are not vague figures of whatever god or goddess they represent) as well as an interesting conversation between Loki and Hestia after Freya spoke to save Hestia from answering a question about Bell's extraordinary leveling ability.

Meanwhile back at the Benevolent Mistress Bell and his friends (minus Hestia who is at the Denatus) are celebrating his increase in level and of course trouble breaks out from some goons who want to share in Bell's good fortune with women. Okay...do not start trouble in this bar or your adventuring days may be over...fair warning. :)

The next day Bell is off to try to find out if there are any other armor from the blacksmith his original armor (which was destroyed by the minotaur) and is fortunate enough to meet the blacksmith himself and they literally talk shop before the man named Welf Crozzo (we get some good backstory about him in this volume) also becomes Bell's newest ally as they begin making their way to more dangerous places.

Speaking of dangerous things in he dungeon we are left with one of my favorite parts of the bookas Bell, Lili, and Welf come across some horned bunnies that have white fur and red eyes. This fits the ongoing joke of Bell looking like an albino bunny perfectly as Lili and Welf react to the similarity by calling the bunnies Bell. :)

The payoff for the apparent digression into armor manufacture and sales finally begins. So far it's pretty good, as a new plot thread picks up, one about the responsibilities of power and the danger of depending on weapons in place of skills.
Bell is learning that there are limits to what you can do as a solo adventurer, and so the logical development is to add to his group, but the character added took me by surprise...as did the combat in the tavern, which was quite funny. Never mess with the scary tavern staff...
The manga seem to be adapting roughly parallel to the anime episodes, in that the parts of the light novel that convert up to volume 7 of the manga seems to be up to about episode 9 of the anime.
Sadly, it will be another couple of months before vol. 8 of the manga comes out.

I'm enjoying this more & more with each passing volume.

This is quite a fascinating tale. Such interesting characters. Some you love, some you love to hate. Bell is a rather unique protagonist, to be sure. He's got great abilities, he's popular with the ladies, & he's a good guy. He treats Hestia well, & his helper too. Now enter a new party member, & it's time to head lower into the dungeon! I look forward to reading the next volume. Some definitely entertaining things are afoot. What are they? That would be telling!

I read this after watching the anime cover the same story, and I was not disappointed. It has its own way of telling the story. It's definitely worth the read.

This volume starts with the Denatus to decide Bell Cranel's title as a level 2 adventurer, and proceeds to cover how Welf Crozzo joins Bell's adventuring party. It ends where light novel 5 begins, Bell's party's first dive into the middle floors of the Dungeon.

I feel like the manga does a better job of conveying exposition than the anime, such as the history of the Crozzo family, while still being a quick read. So, I feel like I understand the story better. The light novel likely has more info still, but it would take longer to read.

Also, the manga is a gold mine of reaction shots. Such as the male gods trying to choose a new nickname for Aiz followed by Loki's death glare, or the transparent jealousy on Hestia's face when she says that Bell will be "safer" with Welf in his party instead of being alone with "Miss. Supporter".

The artwork for Welf's forging scene at the end is intense.

Trickster Eric Novels gives "Is It Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon? Manga Volume 7" an A+

Welf is so passionate, I'm glad that he and Bell have a contract now and he became Bell's party member. Awesome that he wants to make a name for himself not involving his family name or Magic Swords, I hope Bell and his unique status skills and record breakings can help him do that.

This volume had a slow start, but got better towards the end -- not unexpected for a new story arc.

I don't know what it is about this manga that has me loving it so much...whether it's all the Gods and Goddesses and the way mythology is woven in to it in little ways, or if it's innocent little Bell, battling his way through the dungeon and trying to become a hero. Either way I find myself completely hooked on this series!

As we come in to Volume 7, Bell has levelled up and now he gets his own nickname...wahooo! Unfortunately for him it's not the most badass but still...at least he has one! One of the interesting things about this volume is that we got some more of Bell's backstory! I'm so intrigued by him, and his past and where he's from. Perhaps there's more information on this in the light novel, but so far in the manga we've been getting tidbits here and there and he's kind of a mystery. I feel like in this volume he really comes in to his own. He's levelled up, he's got some power and he's hitting further and further in to the dungeons.

He's also getting his own team which means we get a new character! Welf is a smith and he's one of my favourite characters now, I'm not going to lie! I liked him instantly, and he has an intriguing family history and backstory to him that I'm looking forward to learning more about. I'm really loving how well he's fitted in with Bell and Lili! They work well together, and their teamwork is coming on strong, I'm looking forward to seeing how they progress and seeing them come together more and more and interact more.

On the Freya front, Loki finally delivers a warning to Hestia about her, and I'm waiting for that whole thing to play out! I'm not sure if Hestia and Loki are on to her just yet or if they just suspect what she might be up to but I'm waiting to see what happens with this particular story arc. I can't decide if I like Loki or not! I do really like her familia though! More Bete please!

There's a nice balance of action and intrigue in this volume, we get to see what Bells new skill is about as he tests out his skills in a lower dungeon level with his team. The intrigue is courtesy of Freya, and the new God on the block, Hermes. Yep, Hermes shows up at the end of the volume, just in time to no doubt cause some trouble in the next volume. We leave Bell just as he's about to venture further in to the dungeons. I'm not going to lie, I found volume 5 to be a bit lack lustre and boring but with volume 6 and this new volume I feel like things are picking up again and the story's getting back to it's great pace and mix of adventure, action and intrigue!
