Fire Chief Pearce Johnson has been struggling with his attraction to fellow team member and special ops guy Mitch Morelli. In the sauna, long looks turn into a steamy self-love encounter. Pearce runs home and tells his wife of fifteen years all about it— resulting in a five-alarm blaze between them. Ellie has always suspected her husband craves another relationship with a man. When he brings Mitch into their fantasies, she encourages Pearce to explore this newfound sexual link even as she longs for the big Italian firefighter to visit their bed. But taming two firemen might be tougher than she thinks. Mitch can’t get enough of his rugged chief, or Ellie’s femininity. But on the job, his boss pushes him away and purposely avoids working with him. Wounded, Mitch is finished trying to see his lover’s point of view, until one perilous event makes them all wake up and realize love is too precious to ignore.
Flames consumed her. There was no escaping it. Because now she was in deep. It’s time to own it. Bring us together. She was his calm. But Mitch is a damn close second. GOODNESS GRACIOUS, GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!!! WHEW *fanning* This is one helluva story that had me burning up & melting from start to..finish! The intensity of the story itself, the power behind the words, actions & feelings, combined with the amazing, complex characters had me completely consumed, transported in so deep so that I couldn't help but become the characters, to live & experience everything through, with and as them! The raw emotion of and between Pearce, Mitch & Ellie took me by surprise, but the depth of their emotions overwhelms me every time I read the book! I LOVE that they have been married for a time & that they are "older" and still as in love & hot for each other as they presumably were in the beginning! While there is definitely a 5 alarm fire in the bedroom - and the kitchen, the living room, the.. well you get the picture! wink - there is also a fantastic story taking place in and around all of the naughty too! In fact, that part is just as intense & hot, ensuring that I stay focused and with them no matter what they were doing! I ABSO-FLAMING-LUTELY love, Love, LOVE Em's books as a whole, her "brand" of storytelling, the multifaceted characters, the way she captures my attention so quickly and holds it firmly in her grasp from start to finish, the way I fall for and become her characters and, well, just EVERY LITTLE SPARK that has me doing a Controlled Burn and begging for more!! Em truly is a phenomenally talented author who has me devouring her books over and over again and falling in love with the characters more & more each time! If you haven't yet read or experienced all that there is to an Em Petrova book, what the flame are you waiting for?!? If she can have this dedicated paranormal junkie hungering for more of her non-paranormal couples & threesomes, then you KNOW that they are totally worth writing home about! errr, maybe not, since they are filled with oodles & oodles of panty-wetting, tablet-melting, oh so yummyliciousness!! You've been warned! These ain't your Momma's Firefighters!
Fire Chief, Pearce Johnson, has a problem. He's very attracted to Mitch Morelli, fellow Special Ops firefighter. Mitch believes Pearce is attracted to him too, but he keeps sending him mixed signals. Pearce is also married, very happily married. Mitch respects Ellie and doesn't want to act on his attraction, unless everyone's on board.
Pearce confesses his feelings to Ellie. Although Pearce thinks Ellie will be upset, she actually encourages Pearce to act on his feelings. After a rendezvous in the sauna, Pearce comes home to Ellie and has a wild erotic night. When Ellie suggests Pearce bring Mitch home, they begin a HOT relationship.
Things become complicated because Pearce doesn't want everyone at the firehouse to know about their relationship. Pearce starts pushing Mitch away and even assigns him to work on another team. Mitch is shocked and hurt. When Mitch's life is in jeopardy, Pearce and Ellie will have to decide what's important...
I highly recommend this novella to anyone who enjoys menage, firefighter romance! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
Firehouse Five Chief Pearce Johnson and long-time friend and co-worker Special OPS, Mitch share a private and mutual desire for each other that goes back a long time. When they finally act on it while in the sauna after work, it becomes a dilemma in both their professional and personal lives.
While Pearce’s wife, Ellie is more than willing to allow the sweet, eager fireman into their lives and their bed, Pearce has a problem with jeopardizing his career for an affair that goes against Firehouse Rules. Mitch, Pearce and Ellie can’t get enough of each other on their personal time, but Pearce becomes increasingly cool and distant to Mitch while at work. The situation leads to a personal crisis for the three, who have quickly grown to love one another beyond their expectations.
How does the trio resolve this sensitive problem without giving up their careers and friendships? The solution becomes evident when danger intervenes and the level of their feelings and commitments are quickly defined. This story demonstrates the value of love and the choices we make when we honor that value.
This is also a vigorously hot and sexy read. Ms. Petrova does an excellent job of making the words sizzle right off the page. My only question with this story is whether there is a bit too much of that kind of action for the kind of relationship story this is. I felt there might be a bit of an imbalance in that way because this is very much a love story with an important message that earns center stage.
Given that, still I enjoyed every page. I’m delighted as always with Em Petrova’s story telling talents, and recommend Controlled Burn as a compelling romance that burns as hot as the title suggests.
Book provided by author for honest review Pearce and Ellie have a great marriage. Years ago, Pearce had told Ellie about an encounter he had with another man. Ellie has always suspected Pearce wanted another relationship with a man. After sharing a hot fantasy together, Pearce tells Ellie about his self- love encounter with Mitch, a fellow fireman. Ellie tells him to go for it hoping that Pearce will bring Mitch home to join them. Mitch has had the hots for Pearce and his wife. But as things heat up in the bedroom, Pearce cools things down at the firehouse hurting Mitch’s feelings. The closeness of two people that have been married for 15yrs and how they can talk and discuss anything together, makes this story. Pearce telling Ellie right away about Mitch shows that closeness. I liked them a lot. The chemistry between those two goes off the charts when Mitch is added to the equation. The “falling in love” with Mitch is a little quick but the sex is oh, so hot! It has M/M M/F/M and the good ole’ M/F. A little bit of conflict and angst and this story has you hooked hoping for their HEA. Looking forward for the next installment, and I also will be picking up the first book in this series, ‘One Fiery Night’ 4 stars 4 flames review can soon be found at thejeepdiva.com
Pearce Johnson shared with Ellie before their marriage, the truth that his previous lover had been a man. Ellie didn’t have a problem with this and was never given any reason to doubt Pearce’s love and commitment to their relationship. But Ellie always believed that one day, Pearce would be forced to acknowledge the missing part of his soul.
Enter the gorgeous Mitch Morelli; sexy bisexual Italian hunk and one of Pearce’s subordinate’s at Firehouse 5. Smouldering looks, casual touches and sexual tension are on the rise between these imposing men on a daily basis, but Pearce won’t risk his position as Captain or his reputation amongst his men.
But when Ellie encourages Pearce to pursue his lust and tell her all in the aftermath, they are faced with the undeniable certainty that Mitch may be the missing link in their perfect bond. Certain things can’t be denied, and loving one person doesn’t mean that your heart is incapable of loving even more. Controlled Burn shows that devotion and undying love allow someone to cross boundaries many would definitely never deem possible, and with their partner's blessing.
Hot, erotic……..and did I mention HOT; this story will set your fever burning and scorch the very pages if you don’t turn them fast enough!
Controlled Burn is the second book in the Firehouse 5 series. Fire Chief Pearce Johnson has been married to Ellie for fifteen years, but she always knew there would come a day when he would want to be with a man again. That man is Pearce's co-worker, Mitch.
For the most part I enjoyed the book. I liked how Ellie was open to Pearce being with Mitch too, especially since she knew he needed that to be truly happy. She harbored no jealously towards Mitch, nor he towards her. In fact, they, too, have an instant connection.
There were a couple of times Pearce annoyed me with the way he treated Mitch at work. I could understand why he didn't want anyone at the firehouse to know about them, especially since they could both lose their jobs, but he could have handled it better.
The trio really burn up the pages in this one. If you're looking for a steamy M/M/F book, you should consider this one.
**A copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review**
Hot and sweet. I really liked the premise of this book: established married couple, no kids (and no angst about it), still very hot for each other, very happily married, he is attracted to a (male) colleague at his work. He tells her (love this! They actually communicate like grown ups!), she encourages him to explore the attraction, she finds colleague hot too. They try things out and have some smoking hot sex - m/m, m/f/m, m/f. My only quibble is that the HEA felt rushed, but that didn't disturb my overall enjoyment.
Book 2 in this series tells us Chief's story, along with his wife and his right hand man Mitch. Pearce (Chief) and Ellie have a healthy sex life. He's had a previous relationship with another man before he met Ellie. He's thinking of Mitch. Ellie encourages it but wants details. Pearce goes one better and invites Mitch to their bed after a couple of encounters together. The biggest problem is their relationship at Firehouse 5 and how Pearce handles it. Keeping business and pleasure separate is harder than he thought. Great read! This book was given to me for an honest review.
Pearce and Mitch both worked at the firehouse, and were friends. Maybe that is why I felt at the beginning of the book, their connection was so much stronger than the connection they had with Ellie.
As time went on, the relationship between Pearce, Ellie, and Mitch developed and became as much about loving, supporting, and trusting each other as it did about sex.
If you are offended by an abundance of sex between two men and a woman, take a pass on this book.
Chief Pearce has been with the love of his life for years, but before her he'd been with men as well. Over the past few months, he's been getting closer with Mitch and wasn't sure if there was mixed feelings or just them becoming best friends...until the sauna. When he comes home and tells his wife Ellie about his experience with Mitch in the sauna, she encourages him to see where it goes. Talk about scorching! The chemistry between the two men is hot, but add in Ellie and it's a 5 alarm fire! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the next.
Second in the series and steamier than the first. Fire Chief Pearce and his wife Ellie have a great marriage and sex life but something is missing. Mitch enters their relationship and hearts, and the sheets burn up. This is a quick red hot read but the characters do not get overlooked. When feelings were hurt, my heart went out to them. I came to care very much for these three people as they find their happiness together.
I received a copy of this story, and this is my unsolicited review.
I found this to be an interesting story. There is longing, lust, attraction and danger on the job. The story line moves along quickly and the characters have intense chemistry. Coming to terms with their feelings for one another could affect their work situation. Can they figure it out before its to late? Enjoyed this book!
Voluntarily read this book for review, all opinions expressed are my own.
There is nothing controlled about the sparks flying in this quick read!
There's just something extremely hot about a happily married couple bringing in an third, especially when it's so much more than just fulfilling a fantasy. When Pearce and Ellie let Mitch into their lives, NOTHING will ever be the same!
Book 2 in the Firehouse 5 series involves Chief Pearce and colleague Mitch. Pearce and his wife Ellie add a little spice to their marriage as Pearce and Mitch share some hot chemistry at the station. This is a hot menage story with plenty of steamy sex scenes. Add in the drama of risking their lives in horrendous fires and you have one entertaining story.
I don't really care for MFM stories but thought I'd give this one a try since I enjoy Ms. Petrova's books. I thought Mitch should've been more understanding about keeping his relationship with Pearce a secret while at the firehouse. In the end, an equitable solution is achieved. I still don't care for menage stories but this story is worth a read.
"Controlled Burn" (Firehouse 5 #2) by Em Petrova is a smoking hot read. I loved Pearce, Ellie, and Mitch's story! This story is packed with passion, action, drama, and hot firefighters. I can't wait to see what happens next in Firehouse 5! Highly recommend to all fans of firefighters, romance, and menage.
This book was gifted to me. Hot, steamy and sizzling. There are some very erotic scenes between the three characters, and some very heartwarming ones. The storyline is entertaining, the story engrossing. Another great story from Em.
