The latest entry in the McCabe series. Johnny McCabes rides off to a cattle auction, and on the way has an encounter with an old enemy, and meets a legendary mountain man who is trying to protect two children who are being hunted. Meanwhile, Josh and Dusty and the men of the McCabe Ranch are conducting their spring roundup, and find themselves plunging head-first into a range war.
Brad was born in rural New England and grew up reading Louis L'Amour, Luke Short, A.B Guthrie, Jr., and even Edgar Rice Burroughs. He knew at 14 he wanted to write for a living, and refused to give up the goal even when the odds seemed overwhelmingly against it. Now, thanks to Amazon, his stories are now available. He is a member of the Western Writers of America
Brad fell in love with the Old West at a very young age. It began with movies and old TV series like GUNSMOKE and BONANZA, and later expanded to western novels. This led to his study of western history. The pioneers, the Indians, the cattlemen, the gunfighters. His interest in history is not so much about wars and great leaders, but the people who lived on the land. And that's what he writes about. The people. He doesn't write about the old west as much as he writes about what it might have felt like to be there.
He loves contact from readers. He can be reached by email at mccabewesterns@gmail.com if you want to discuss his stories, or even just the American West in general.
Good story, not too much unnecessary violence, pleasant amount of sex and mostly good honest people. Good resd
.The situations were beleavable and western life in the times well represented The number of people were introduced pretty fast. A little hard to keep track of.
Thunder Review best read I have had in years with Great characters and good action and no repeating also good locations and back ground loved the description of the locations
I enjoyed this read from start to finish good action good locations did have views that made the story come alive almost being there it a Great Read Thanks you LFA
What a great book. I have enjoyed every book on the McCabes. I truly enjoy reading these books. I do hope there will be one to continue from this one. I would like to see how the range war ends and learn more about the two kids they took in.
This was a definite page turner and well written. Looking forward to the next book in this series. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes a good western.
I really love these stories. I am not even a western cowgirl type, but somehow I am drawn into these stories. I suppose it's from the old westerns I use to watch on TV as a kid. I have read all 8 books so far and they have all been awesome reading. I don't even watch TV anymore. These stories are so much better. They are very descriptive and unique, keeping you interested throughout the whole book and wanting to read the next book. I think I have read every mail order bride book there is and they are all pretty much the same and very predictable. I am so happy to have found these books and many of the authors in relation are just as interesting.
I am 91 years old and like a good western. As a young boy, Saturday matinees was where I could be found. I had a love for reading when I discovered the school library. My interest are varied, and I still like a good western. And this is is a good western. I hope other readers enjoy this book, and other books by Brad Dennison. My Kindle is now my favorite way to read.
I hope that Thunder isn't the final chapter. Mr. Dennison is a master story teller. Each one of the books could stand alone, but why would you want it to. I hope that there are more McCabe books ahead. Most of all I hope that there will be a series or mini series ahead.
I love the McCabes. They're the kind of people you'd want to live next to. This was another action packed, emotional story that has nearly the whole family involved. I enjoyed the emphasis on the horses and the descriptions took me to the place. I hesitated over four or five stars because there were a few times that the story jumped around or things weren't explained that well. However, if I read an entire story in one sitting and plan to read it again, it must be good, thus five stars.
I love all of the McCabe characters. They try to always do the right thing, but trouble has a way of finding them. The plots are always involved and well thought out. I loved the horse Thunder, who takes care of his master. I am looking forward to the next book in the series and hope there are more to come. Great author.
This was an exceptionally great Western storyline. It was filled with tons of action and suspense. The only way this would be better is there had been a special love story. I highly recommend this book to all of your readers.
One of the better books in the McCabe series. The McCabes and the Willburys are involved in a range war. While Johnny helps an old Mountain Man protect two kids from a gunman hired to find them.
My second horse was named Thunder. When he got older he developed ring bone which met I had to give him up. I am not ashamed to admit it I cried all the way home. He was a gelding, not a stallion. But a great horse. This book brought back a lot of memories.
Johnny has a narrow escape and his horse saves him! Interesting plots that weave in and out with which ever member of the family is involved. I hope the author can continue to tell this family's story in subjecting prose and with strong moral background.
A good book of the McCain's family actually in time of disaster and love. You never know what going to happen next to one of them or who is going to one of them in death actions way?
Another McCabe book in the series and quite An exciting book it isn’t. Johnny and his horse Thunder go through quite an adventure. The book is a wee bit shorter than his other books But the author more than makes it for it with exciting action and great plot.
Seems that Brad Dennison is back to his same style of writing. This book has gun fights, but lacks the same grit as was seen in the first few books of this series.
