Kathryn Knight has it all – a beautiful home, a loving husband, and a successful job as a theatre sister at St Anne’s hospital. Life is good. Finley Dey is a surgeon and the new hospital director. He’s tragically lost his family in an accident and has come to England to make a fresh start. He’s also stunningly attractive. Despite the guilt she feels for betraying her husband, Kathryn and Fin are thrown together, lust and desire grasping every clandestine opportunity. But a prediction from a psychic unnerves Kathryn and soon deceit, denial and ultimately death knock her world off its axis, turning her perfect life upside down.
When I first saw this book, the title reminded me of the movie starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz - Knight and Day. Like the movie, it got me wondering whether the main characters surnames were Knight and Dey. The book started out quite innocently with Kathryn Knight who is a head nurse at St. Anne's, married to Philip and been in a committed relationship. Kathryn visits Rosa who supposedly has a psychic side and tells Kathryn she will be the mother of three babies and a man will leave her and a new one will come along. Happily married and not seeing children in her future, she is left unsettled. Enter Finley Dey; he is a surgeon come to St. Anne's for a new beginning from Holland as his wife and son were killed in an accident. He is also the brother of Kathryn's best friend, Elsie. Here, I thought that this book would be a romance between the two but then what follows will be a story filled with different angles from spousal cheating to Affairs to Stalkers and secrets to eventually murder and death. Knight and Dey was a book that I didn't see panning out the way it did and has something for every reader. In a way, I was happy how the story ended but felt a few of the storylines were left unanswered and left the reader with more questions after the final page had ended. If you are in the mood for a bit of romantic suspense and hospital drama, then check out Knight and Dey by Joy Wood.
This is a good, well written romance story that has elements of suspense to it. Oh and the heat level is very nice. I love the backdrop which is set in a hospital setting in England. The MC are a theatre sister & a hospital director. It's a definite page turner that had me glued until the very end because of the mystery of the story. There was some WTH moments which I was alittle confused but that’s ok, the heat factor and the overall romance is so good, that I still stayed glued to the story. Kathryn Knight thought she had it all until she met the new hospital director Finley Dey – and that is when her life spun out of control. I don’t want to say anymore but I would recommend giving this book a read and be prepared for some fanning and some cool drinks when done. The ending was good which helped wrap this story up—I would have liked alittle more into why a certain character was the way they were and how Kathryn didn’t know and why she was deceived but hey, this was still a good book without to know this.
My rating: 4.5 stars **** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
Brilliant book i really loved it, There was so many twists and turns in this book and i did not for one minute expect that outcome ! the book is wrote very well and you have yourself a suer hot Doctor and a sexy nurse whats not to love right ? great romance i cannot wait for more from this author Would Finley Be My Book Boyfriend ? hell yes he is my book husband ! Mine #Claimed
Warning please be advised this book contains cheating so if you hate that this is not for you !
Kathryn Knight, married to Philip, has a job as theatre sister at a private hospital. She wants a child more than anything. Dr. Finley Dey, surgeon and new hospital director, is a widower , who also lost his son. He moved from Holland to England to be with his sister and start over. They are Star- crossed lover, sparks fly, literally. Yes there is cheating. Then there is guilt, murder, dead, drama and pain so much pain. But they get their reluctant HEA. This book is well written. I wish I had my own Fin. First I didn´t like Kathryn very much. She´s torn between her controlling husband and Finley. I thought her weak. But she gained confidence. 5 Stars and Thank you Joy Wood. Not bad.
I loved this story! I was Torn the whole time I was reading..I really wanted her to be happy and get the dream guy but at what expense? I definitely wasn't a fan of Phillip but his character helped make the story what it was
I have to say that Joy has done it again. This read is her second masterpiece. It had it all, the good, bad, and the extremely ugly, and I expected nothing else from this author. Knight & Dey faced so much opposition, sometimes, they didn't make it through intact or together. With all their problems emerging under distressing circumstances, who would? But Knight & Dey had Elsa, and with friends and sisters like Elsa, I feel bad for your enemies. I wonder where I can find an Elsa. Brilliant, Joy!!! The twists and turns were mind-scrambling. The characters weren't the only ones wondering why didn't I see that coming. Looking forward to your next release.
What a love story/hospital setting/probable murder and more.
Well, this novel was unique, for sure! Love comes in many forms, but with a great love one also has great loss, if a loved one dies, whether a natural death or a murder. Life can flip anytime, and what you thought was, never was at all. The psyche of the antagonists were interesting and to read their respective thoughts were bewildering. The protagonists also had bits of antagonistic traits and makes for a great read.
A hospital setting with prose and dialogue as the English native speaks. (Well how I personally think they do). It makes for a delightful mystery. I didn't pick up on the bad dude till almost the very end but that is how a good book is written. So many tiny hidden hints. Excellent work Ms. Wood. Yes, seal some more stories in ink but kindly be cautious with the scalpel.
Wow. Knight & Dey completely swept me away. I went into it expecting a simple hospital romance, but what I got was a story full of passion, guilt, and devastating twists. Kathryn’s inner conflict felt so real torn between loyalty and desire and Finley’s grief made my heart ache. The chemistry between them is electric, but it’s the emotional unraveling that really got me. That psychic’s prediction gave me chills! I couldn’t stop reading until the very end.
A real page-turner, I couldn't put it down. Loved Fin - he's an engaging hero who knows what he wants, and what he wants is Kathryn. I was in two minds about her, initially, finding her a tad cold, but I grew to like her more as the story progressed and, by the end, I was hoping for everything to work out. I did not predict the twist at the end. At all. Excellent storytelling from Joy Wood.
This is the second book I have read of this authors and I will absolutely read more! I was so captivated by this story I couldn’t put it down. I love the way it had many twists, I had no idea what was going to happen. I received an advanced reader copy for an honest review. *Magic Beyond The Covers Book Blog*
This book was a splendid story that seamlessly wove the nuances of love and loss. The author conveyed a myriad of emotions the human heart is faced to endure and accept. Love is not always easy, nor a choice. Learning that fate is fickle, the two main characters have to search within their own hearts before reaching for another's.
I applaud the author for venturing into a forbidden romance between her two characters. It is not an easy topic to tackle, but with excellent execution she managed to seduce a romance where few would go. With that being said, this was by no means the only focus of the story. There were many other subplots that started as separate threads, but became part of the cleverly woven tapestry of the story. Wood brilliantly introduced each character, creating intrigue and suspense that would become paramount to the final outcome at the end. Her education in, and passion for, the medical profession were flawlessly apparent in the hospital setting for this book. Credibility and professionalism lent a realistic feel to the backdrop of the story.
In conclusion: A medical drama with hidden deceptions, a forbidden romance, and a conclusion that you won't see coming . How delightful!
I am not gonna lie, at first I was baffled by the prologue, then I was baffled by events that happened (I'm easily baffled) then... THEN ... I was HOOKED! I had four hours sleep last night because I had to find out the answers. I woke at 6am (unheard of!) and picked up my kindle!? My kindle, not my phone; I'm shocked at myself. This is an absolutely riveting read! My mind is scattered and I'm still trying to come to terms with the plot.
A bit of a 'who did it' thing going on here. No spoilers from me here. No story rehash, as I'm sure the blurb will draw you in. But, BUT! You really need to read this book. The sex is just so... phew! It really floated my boat.
I love Kathryn's character I was with her every step of the way, I was holding my breath when she fell for Fin. Fin, well he is just all kinds of sex on a stick. I was rooting for him all along. All of the characters had me living in the moment; I was wary of Janelle #ScaryStalkerMuch! Rosa was spooky with her predictions, I'd be scared to not listen to her. Elsa and Nick, Fin's sister and brother in law and Kathryn's best friends, what can I say? I just love them so much. I just loved this book from start to finish, so put down your current read and buy this now.
We meet Katherine Knight who seems to have it all she is happily married to Philip, they have a beautiful home, she has a great job working as a theatre sister at St Anne's hospital. The only thing that would make Katherine's life that little bit more complete is a baby and this is something that Katherine has longed for. Her life changes forever when the surgeon Finley Dey starts working at St Anne's.
Step forward hospital director and surgeon Finley Dey who has moved from Holland to England to stay with his sister and make a fresh start after losing his wife and son to a accident. As soon as he sets eyes on Katherine and Katherine sets eyes on him their is a immediate attraction.
Katherine always thought that she was happily married to Philip until Finley comes along and starts to make her question everything in her life including her marriage. Will Katherine be able to resist the pull of Finley Dey?.
Kathryn Knight thought her life was what she wanted, until the brother of her best friend moves to town and becomes her boss. Finn Dey knows heartache after loosing both his son and wife in an accident and moving to England is meant to be a fresh start. When the two meet there is an instant attraction that neither can deny, even thought Kathryn had previously thought she was happily married. I am normally not one to read a book with cheating involved, but there are so many twists and turns surrounding the issue it was hard not to want to see Kathryn and Finn together. A husband who is controlling and has secrets of his own, a best friend and sister who has her own secrets that no one will fully know and a coworker who is obsessed with wanting Kathryn in her life. This was a very well written book by a new author for me. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Knight and Dey is an amazing, emotional rollercoaster of a book. Just when you think you have it all figured out, you don't. Be warned you may need tissues.
I really loved Joy Woods style of writing, it is flawless and effortless. she grabs your attention and pulls you in until the story is over. ( you'll need more tissues then) and I'm excited to see what other books she brings out. Even though this book is set in the medical world I wasn't lost with all the medical lingo.
I really loved all the characters in the book and I want to read more of their own stories. I don't want to say more incase I spoil the story for you.
Knight and Dey is a must read for anyone who loves a contemporary love story with characters who despite what is thrown at them in life manage to find each other. Definitely worth more than 5 stars!
This is a gem of a book. It's well written and has all the ingredients for a fabulous story. There is romance, intrigue, suspense and sensual erotic sex scenes. It's a definite page turner that had me hooked from the beginning and kept me guessing right up until the end. The characters are well rounded and believable. The attention to detail is spot on with the hospital and medical terminology. The sex scene in the hospital theatre is so hot it's sizzling and will remain in my mind! Joy weaves a great story with twists and turns along the way that keeps the momentum going. I loved her first book but I think I love this one even more. I look forward to reading more from Joy Wood I definitely recommend this book
This is the first time I have read any of this authors work, and it will definitely not be the last. Kathryn thought she was happily married until Fin who has had a tragedy in his life, comes to work at the hospital. There is an instant intense attraction between them, which cannot be ignored. This storyline is very well written, with enough secrets, as well as twists and turns to keep me intrigued and captivated throughout. I look forward to reading more of this authors work.
I really enjoyed reading this story about Fin the sexy hot doctor and Kathryn who is the sister on the ward he works on, to begin with Kathryn is a loyal married woman but things slowly change. There was so many twists in this story and at times my heart was breaking but the ending which was totally unexpected is absolutely brilliant. This is a well written love story by a talented up and coming author!
