Football Dick

You want to know about Rhoden Richards, do you?
Well, he's a d*ck. A big d*ck. He also has a...well, you know.
Plus, he's the star quarterback for the Arcata Adders, the pro football team that my father owns. At least he is for now. That showboater's threatening to blow the season for all of us with his outrageous behavior—both on and off the field. The women, the parties, ugh. Total a-hole.

Who am I, you ask? My name is Della Garland—body blogger, big girl, and the (reluctant) fiancee of the man my father wants to sell the team to. Um, I mean, I was. And then I met a sexy stranger at a masquerade party, found myself pregnant...and discovered Rhoden Richards was the father.
I can't decide if I'm the luckiest girl on earth...or totally screwed.
I mean, Rhoden's actually kind of a nice guy once you get to know him.
But my father and my fiance, they won't let me go without a fight—and a whole lot of threats.
Why don't you read my story and decide for yourself?

***This is a stand-alone novel with a happy ending and an outrageously sexy football player. If you like your naughty stories with a sprinkle of humor and a kick-butt heroine who falls for strong, confident alpha males, pick this one up and get ready to take a cold shower after!***

ALSO BY VIOLET BLAZE (and her pen name, CM Stunich)
-Stepbrother Inked (a bad boy romance about a hot tattoo artist)
-Stepbrother Thief (an alpha male romance about a sexy jewelry thief)
-Raw and Dirty (a smoldering British outlaw motorcycle club president)
-Kicked (by C.M. Stunich, a new adult football romance)

"FOOTBALL D*CK" EXCERPT
One of his hands slides along the side of my face, fingers tangling in my hair as he holds me against him, taking his time and savoring my mouth like he did at the masquerade party. It turns me on, the way he moves, slow and confident like he's got all the time in the world. Out here, in the gentle violence of the waves, my body shaking from the cold, it feels like we should rush our way through this—whatever this is. But we don't. Rhoden kisses me like we're in a black and white movie, all deep and romantic and sure, but also like he's hiding chili peppers under his tongue.
A hot tingling drags through me, warms me up and makes me forget all about the salty sting of the ocean. Behind the distant murmur and lap of water, the sound of the music drums out a steady, solid beat, relaxing my pounding heart to its rhythm.

This was a cute, feel-good story that I have been definitely needing to read lately.

Della is a size 14 curvy girl and I’m so happy that she talks about her blog, loving her curves, feeling insecure but trying to overcome that. I related to her and that’s probably one of the reasons why I loved this book so much.

Rhoden is a muscular, sexy, tattooed up quarterback in the NFL. Della and Rhoden end up having a one-night stand at a masquerade party while wearing masks, not knowing who they were. They end up “coincidentally” running into each other and figuring out they slept together. The story goes on from there...

Honestly, it was refreshing to not have a guy be a jackass, make rude comments or try and run the girl off by throwing other women in her face. Especially when the girl is plus size. It made me love Rhoden even more every time he said he thought Della was beautiful and loved her curves.

I absolutely love Rhoden. I couldn't get enough of Rhoden and Della. Every time they are together I couldn't stop reading. I love how sweet Rhoden was with Della, even though one part I wanted to smack the shit out of him for being an ass but he showed his true colors when it counted. I really enjoyed this story and absolutely love the characters. If you love a good sports romance, then you must read this book

I Loved It

This book was a good read for me. I smiled and laughed a bunch. I was even shocked over some of the things that happened to Della. I loved both Della and Rhoden. I even loved her crazy friends Ariana and Scottie and her sister Halcy. The rest of her family could take a hike. I'm glad I took a chance on this. Very enjoyable. And hot. Definitely hot.

A really enjoyable read and quite humorous at times. It took me a little bit to get into but then I was addicted and had to finish it :) .

okay no, idk why i reas this book like i HATE accidental pregnancy but here i am. it initially got 2 stars because i felt bad giving it 1 since i finished it but when i tell you there were MULTIPLE times when i almost didn’t, i only saw it through because of the amount of hours i had already put into it, and like compared to my last 2 star read i probably should have just dnf’d with my opinions lol.

(tw: mention of ‘sex’ and ‘molestation’ ahead, both separate cases.
nothing graphic or any details in terms of molestation, just mention of the word and how it appeared in the book as a weird offhanded comment).

i have so many questions and a few complaints, like why did we purposely make the main character fat but then she sees the word fat as an insult. like as this book was going on there was like no internal growth or anything, like yeah she can show her arms now but is that because she’s happy with herself or did she just get used to them being out, you know?? okay also she said something like “are you trying to get me fatter” or something and then later said she was self conscious because she’s fat and both times instead of him being like “yeah you are and you’re sexy as fuck” or whatever he’s like “you’re not fat you’re hot and curvy” like blah blah blah boo go away, she was written as a fat woman and it’s okay to say that :)

like i get it, the book was released in 2016 and since then the body positivity movement has made massive strides but also like “big girls, bad boys, and babies” why write a big girl who isn’t happy being big? like maybe at the beginning i understand but as she falls in love or whatever she falls in love with her body too? idk but like this book and the way it was approached wasn’t it for me

okay also you’re telling me that she gave him a blowjob for a few songs which in my head a few is 4-5, so let’s say each song is 3.5 minutes, that’s 14-18 minutes (her poor jaw) and then they have like penetrative sex for like 6 songs or something which is basically half an hour - also way too long to be in the same position like that. also at this point they’re literally in the middle of an event and they are both there with other people but neither of them think twice about being gone for LITERALLY ALMOST AN HOUR. also i feel like 3.5 minutes per song is generous because i’m thinking it would have been classical or jazz or something and those songs are often longer.

okay with the fiancé like what the fuck like that situation was literally so bonkers but also did he even really do anything (before he did something) like there were threats and all that but then also he simply vanished and then came back (and i’m assuming he got arrested or something, the book doesn’t touch on it again) but like he took her blog and source of income but it didn’t seem like she was really that impacted. also he said he downloaded a tracking app on her phone and she’s scared of using her phone for a bit but then just goes back to using it and i don’t think she deleted the app because he found her later.

okay so i guess this is a minor thing but no why are they calling the cat a pussy like the first time i thought that he was saying it as a joke but i swear every time there was a cat it was referred to as a pussy, why? like just why? it wasn’t funny and added literally nothing to the story, and like we know they use the word for something else thanks to their sexscapades, so like why are we doing it.

also another wee bit the names confused me lol like i couldn’t tell you anyone’s names except me. Virgin and Hil lol. like the MMC and the FMC’s dad’s names were so similar i swear and u got so confused like i think reuben and rhodan or something

before i go i do just want to mention the whole “thanks for letting me molesta you thing” because firstly why are we doing that, secondly why are we saying that and thirdly if you were in fact doing that, THAT MEANS IT IS BOT CONSENSUAL like that’s what that word implies. lien i could be reading way too much into it but if made me so uncomfortable because like wtf no.

i’m sure someone would enjoy this book, but that someone was not me and i don’t think i will read anything else by this author

Wow.  Can I just say, this is probably the BEST sports romance I've read?!  I love me some sweaty guys chasing each other (or a ball, puck, etc) down the field, but generally the genre isn't cerebral.  C. M. Stunich, writing as Violet Blaze, blows all those out of the water.  Her character development was so good, it made me uncomfortable.  I was uncomfortable because I could relate so well to Della as a person that I was feeling her emotions sometimes.  It was like a car wreck--it made me feel weird to watch, but I couldn't look away.  I'm glad I pushed through that, though.  About 3/4 of the way through the book, I started getting jittery.  I KNEW something big was going to happen.  I KNEW Walt (Mr. Virgin) was completely batty and would snap, but I couldn't tell where it was going to happen.  I couldn't figure out if it would or if I were wrong and the story was going to just be "happy" (something I was going to be very disappointed with).  I was waiting the whole time for Rhoden to be attacked.  I was waiting for Della to be kidnapped.  I was waiting for her to fold to her father and marry Walt.  Most the book, I spent waiting to see what happened because I couldn't predict it.  The characters were so unbelievably real for most of the story, which made their actions more difficult to predict.

I was a LITTLE off-put by the whole baby thing.  I felt like the reactions around that were just a little off.  I mean, I was living with my boyfriend and when I got a positive pregnancy test (unexpected), I did a lot more than cry.  Although, Della is a bit of a push-over and a sap, so maybe that's all she could work herself up to.  What I am glad about in the whole situation is that 1- Della didn't hide the baby from him, so much as stick true to character and chicken out about telling him and 2--He didn't get pissed at her.  I absolutely HATE when the guy gets mad at the chick for being pregnant.  Like he wasn't in the effing room with her.  Or he accuses her of lying about it being his.  So annoying.

Another thing this book impressed me with was the look into a little-explored and little-known form of verbal abuse known as gaslighting.  If you don't know what gas lighting is, it's where the woman (or man, as abuse happens to both) has their ideas, thoughts, and emotions belittled or downplayed as unimportant or, usually "irrational", "hysterical", or "crazy".  It takes its name from a black and white film where the male lead would turn up and down the gas lights in the house and when the woman commented on it, he would pretend he didn't know anything about it and that she was going crazy.  It eventually does drive her mad.  Walt's behavior is classic of this.  When Della says she doesn't want to marry him, he tells her that she's the perfect political wife.  When she returns the keys and ring, he breaks into her house and leaves them on the counter.  Over and over, Walt subtly plays this game and you can see it every time Della questions if ending things with him is the right thing.

I like that it takes her time to come to that conclusion.  You often see MCs take very decisive actions around pivotal plot points.  But Stunich/Blaze actually gives a true-to-life representation of what a person would do with these decisions.  Her not marrying Walt affects not only her, but her whole family.  This is not something to be decided lightly.  I also like that she admits some of her self-esteem baggage comes from the things her stepmother told her growing up.  I like that she talks through the way she's getting over that baggage, recognizing the things in her head as being not her own thoughts and feelings.

Overall, this book was slow to get into (I kind of hated Della in the beginning because she was so...blah), but she really grows into herself and her role and I found myself reading through dinner just to find out what happens in the end.

Great sports romcom! CM has written a fantastic, funny and hot sports romcom.

Rhoden Richards (aka Big Dick) is a cocky, smirking, a-hole showboater.
Della Garland is a sweet, witty and loving woman with self esteem issues.

Della Garland is the daughter of the Owner of the Arcata Adders NFL team, and she is a NFL fanatic. Della has been in a relationship with Walter Virgil for the last year and has yet to sleep with him, she’s not even sure she likes him yet when he proposed she said sure? but only because she thinks its what she needs to do for her family. Yet a one-night stand at a masquerade party changes her look on her life. When she finds out who her one-night stand is she is shocked to say the least, after breaking off her engagement and also finding out she is pregnant Walter becomes her crazy stalker and becomes threatening.

Rhoden Richards is the Arcata Adders QB, who goes after what he wants whether it be football, helping raise money for animal shelters or getting the woman he wants. When his one-night stand turns into something more than he expected he will do whatever it takes to keep them and make sure they are safe.

Rhoden is a good fit for Della he is sweet and caring towards her and brings her out of her shell, whilst convincing her she is perfect just as she is. The chemistry, desire and passion between Della and Rhoden is hot, steamy and electric.

I really loved reading this story, I found it to be very realistic and relatable, there were moments when I laughted and moments when I seriously felt the pain the MC was going through. The story was better than I was expecting but I shouldn’t be surprised as CM is fast becoming one of my favourite authors thats an automatic one-click.

I just fell in love with Big Dick!

Yeah you heard me right! Say it loud say it proud…I heart Big Dick forever, ok little Dick too and Billy and oh hell all of them… Amazing story. Gosh it gave me all the feels. Amazing side characters as well. The big moral to take from this book is that your family isn’t always blood. It’s those you find along the way, your tribe, they are the ones that are your family. I had one disappointment and I’ll list it below so as not to spoil..

I wanted Walter in F’n jail. What a horrible disgusting character. A true villain, one you don’t want to hook up with. I hope there will be more in the future, if not I really enjoyed the ride.

Football Dick by @cmstunich as Violet Blaze

I always love anything by CM Stunich (published as Violet Blaze in this book), and this was no different. It was an easy (and by that, I mean that it was a fun, humorous and enjoyable) read. I loved Della (a curvy, self positive bombshell), Rhoden (the sexy NFL player) and Ariana (the BFF)… who made me laugh, giggle and self reflect. It had questionably immoral characters… aka Mr Virgin (aka evil forced fiancé) and a ***spoiler*** HEA… I loved it! And would totally recommend this book. I’d rate this standalone a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 [July 2022 Read].

Some things she did were so crazy some things were flat out wtong. I cant condone cheating its just all the way wrong and making him into a bad guy soesnt cover up the wrongness of her cheating. That said this couple was super hot and cute and adorable and everything

Dick and Della

First of all, Walter was batsh*t crazy....certifiable. Della should have reported him earlier before it progressed. Someone could've gotten seriously hurt.
I lube that they can't they can't stay away from each other or keep from touching each other. It isn't planned so the attraction and chemistry is off the charts.
Cute story.

So, from what I understand- this was written under a pen name for C.M. Stunich. Which makes sense, since this was a totally different speed than any of the other books I’ve read by this author. I was pleasantly surprised by the more emotionally mature & slightly serious tone of the novel. Honestly, I think it’s one of her best. The plot line was intriguing. The romance was properly built, unlike the insta-love I’ve seen in her books before. I love when I feel like I can actually see the progression of a relationship between two characters!

Cons- The body image issues were overdone
I thought it was weird how she just kept chugging right along without actually stopping to deal with either her father or Walter for good.
I could have done with some more of a backbone from her.

I liked Big Dick’s character so much. It’s a bit unrealistic for a person to be this perfect but that makes his character way more yummy hahaha. Della’s character talks about body issues and being curvy without actually making her thoughts all about it. I liked how it discussed this without pushing it to satiation. Will definitely read more books by the author

Entertaining Story

Football Dick is a fun and entertaining story that has me laughing in parts and on the edge of my seat in others.

Della and Rohdan are absolutely adorable together and I love how they had each other's backs with some difficult and trying situations.

I couldn't put this story down and read it in one sitting!

cozy and spicy

I honestly did not expect to love this as much as I did. The whole book reads like Della is just telling a story to a good friend and I could not get enough.
It gave me all the cozy comfy feelings I needed (found family, accidental pregnancy, insta love), but then the suspense and the spice too? 10/10 recommend

Pleasantly Surprised

This story wasn't shallow like I thought it might be due to the title, it had a little bit of suspense, romance, quite a bit of humor, and at times was sweet without being sappy. So far, I've enjoyed every book I've read from C.M. Stunich/Violet Blaze!

A really fun read. I needed a more light hearted read after finishing a very intense series, and this hit all the boxes. Very funny. I loved the lead characters. The only downside is that I felt it was slightly rushed near the end, but otherwise a great book

Good read

Not sure the review I want to give. It was a good read, but the Della was kinda all over the place about her body image. I’m not sure how you encourage others to love and accept themselves when you don’t love and accept yourself. Overall, a good quick, interesting read.

Great read!

I LOVE CM Stunich, but this one wasn’t quite up to par for me. It wasn’t as nuanced as her other books. However, it was still a great read! Light and fluffy, and good to pass a rainy day. :)

It’s so refreshing when you read a story about a curvy girl. I don’t like when there’s body image issues, but I loved that she was trying to accept herself and pushed herself to change her mindset.

Also, he read her blog before she even told him about it. 🥺

Della

I loved plus sized Della she seemed to timid but then she became a lioness and great things happened. Walt and her dad were something else. I'm really enjoying all these throw back books that were republished!!
