The Erotic Eclair and Other Unseemly Stories

Rate this book
A delectable medley of stories filled with glorious food, smatterings of sex and Mennonite angst. Along the way we meet a bootlegging herbalist, a benevolent drug-lord. a runaway shotgun bride, women in pursuit of their dreams and men vainly trying to understand those self-same women.

Sweet Carmen is too young to meet her untimely and bizarre death, and Fixer Frank can fix almost everything - except, perhaps, a relationship.

We learn about love potions through the ages, and how Parisian chocolate can change your life. And, to top it all off, there's a recipe for making orgasmic chocolate éclairs!

This book is one of those books that made me laugh my head off .... Full disclosure ... I did beg Cheryl to publish her stories, because when she read them aloud at our Goddess Getaway weekends, she had all of us begging for more.

Cheryl is an amazing storyteller. This book is not erotica or filled with sex .... you can give it to your daughter, mother, grandmother, and they will all approve, I promise. Well, except for Cheryl's mother..... who was truly mortified by the cover of this book ... The rebel in me thought that was hilarious ... and since women live longer when surrounded by close women friends... well, just sayin' ....

Cheryl's repressed Mennonite upbringing touches my repressed Catholic upbringing in so many ways in this book. I am certain that many of you will discover this as you laugh your way through the stories in this book.

Enjoy:-) Support other women. Live, love and laugh ..... I do a lot of that with Cheryl. I invite you to join us.

Funny, intelligent, sexy read. Deliciously provocative at times, while cutting straight to the heart at others. This is not fluff. As satisfying and tempting as the baked good in the title.

With such a wide verity of short stories to choose from I'm just going to talk about my favorite and least favorite within the collection. Wild Oats is the first story in the collection and is by far my favorite. Adena is a modern day witch and has such a unique prospective of the world around her. This was beautifully written and left me enchanted. I would love if someday there was to be a novel about these characters. If I were to rate this story alone it would get a five star rating.
Then there is Chocolate love... This story crosses the line from imaginative to downright outrageous and not in a good way. Although major plot points come across as ridiculous it somehow managed to also be predictable. The entire story is written as a retelling by the main character and the style quickly became tiresome. For me this story was only a one star.
Most of the stories within the collection I would give a four star rating. The connecting theme throughout the book is love; not all romantic but none the less, love. Despite my enjoyment level varying from story to story overall I really adored this collection.

I won this book in a goodreads giveaway. I'll start this review by stating I'm not really a fan of short stories but was drawn to the cover of this book. A couple of the stories were OK but overall just felt this book wasn't for me.

I won this book in a Giveaway, and I did like the various stories throughout the book. They were cute, serious, and funny.
The only drawback for me was that it was a book of short stories, which are not something I like.

This book of short stories was entertaining and kept me interested. It was at times a little sad and then humorous. I enjoyed this one.
