Task Force Hawaii #4

Tangled Passions

Rate this book
Facing an obsessive killer proves to be easier than falling in love.

The last person Drew Franklin wants to work with is Cat Kalakau. Their history makes it difficult being in the same room, let alone being joined at the hip during a case. Months ago, they’d shared a night filled with romance and a bit more, but that ended after he was shot. Since then, even their friendship seems to have fallen apart. But he will do his job, even if spending more time with her is killing him.

Working with Drew every day reminds Cat she’s to blame for his injury. It doesn’t matter that she wants him more than her next breath, or that every time he looks at her she melts into a puddle of lust. She needs to resist her own desires to protect him as they hunt a serial killer targeting wealthy men signed up for dating services.

Soon though, their time together proves to be too much. One fight leads to a kiss, which leads to so much more. Neither of them is prepared for the overwhelming need they have for each other or the connection they seem to have. But when Cat realizes Drew is the object of the killer’s obsession, she will do anything to protect him even if it means sacrificing her life for his.

There will never be a hotter cop series than this! Task Force Hawaii has some of the most bada$$ men and women in law enforcement. Add in some severe sexual tension and a serial killer stalking rich men you have an absolutely exciting thrill ride. Cat and Drew have been crushing on each other since the first book, Drew was shot and then they ran away from each other. It took this case to get her jealous and give him courage to make it happen. And when it does sparks are flying everywhere. This is the fourth book with the Task Force and although each love story is a standalone the characters interconnect and are recurring throughout each book. I highly recommend reading the series in order. Thanks to Melissa Schroeder for my advanced copy, this review was written voluntarily.

This book was awesome! I've been (im)patiently waiting for cat and drew lol. And I was not disappointed! The chemistry between these two has always been there and I'm so glad they finally get a hea. Of course what would it be without some bumps in the road getting over the past and trying to stop a psycho killer from making drew the next victim. This is a great read and I couldn't put it down! Don't miss another great read from Mel o give it two thumbs up!!

Cat and Del finally get it right after a year of upset and freak outs about being hurt - and they catch a serial killer to boot.

I'll be honest this has been sitting in my TBR file since it came out. I'm a huge Task Force Hawaii fan, but not a complete Melissa Schroeder fan, but that's a taste thing, nothing to do with her talent which is amazing.
I don't like over the top dominating males outside of the bedroom in a story, and even in the bedroom there are boundaries. MS tends to stomp all over those boundaries in some of her works, but she labels them very clearly which I am very grateful for, and allows me to choose to read the very wonderful stories from her that I can enjoy.

So very well done, and I really really would like another in this series!!

Tangled Passions is Drew and Cat’s story. This book can be read standalone but is better if you’ve read the earlier books. Cat is a kick ass cop but not so good with the touchy feely stuff. Drew comes from a big family. He is okay with the touchy feely stuff but can’t get past the hurt of Cat deserting him after a night of passion that had him on cloud nine until he got shot by a maniac who was after another team member. He doesn’t understand why Cat refused to see him in the hospital or see him during his recovery. Well he is back to work and she isn’t going to be able to avoid him forever.
Drew and Cat complete each other. They are each good at the parts where the other falls short. I loved watching them find their way to each other again. While this isn’t my favorite of the series it is still a fun read.

I think half the fun of this one was watching Drew and Cat dance around each other while their teammates chirped in with advice and later to see who won the bet. The crime was a bit blah, other than it ramped up Cat's jealously due to the role that Drew was asked to play.

Also interesting was how Drew and Cat both dealt with their interfering mothers. Drew was much more adapt at dealing with their nosiness and getting both of them off of their backs.

I find myself intrigued by the newest staff member of the Task Force. She is a bit crazy, but to be honest you need to be to work on this team. It will be fun to see what she brings.

The Task Force is out it again, looking for Serial Killer that has been targeting rich men, that all used the same Dating Service. Del enlisted the assistance of Drew Franklin, from their Medical Team, to get the inside track on the Dating Service. This is Cat's first time to take the Lead on a case, and she is not happy that Drew is being put in potential harm. Drew and Cat have history, as they were dating briefly before Drew was shot. Instead of being at Drew's side, she withdrew and didn't even visit him in the hospital. Cat tries to rebuild her relationship with Drew, while keeping him safe. Soon sparks are flying and bets are being placed.

I am so happy to get Drew and Cat's story!! I loved that Cat had to let down her guard and just be honest with Drew and that Drew never hesitated once he knew her feelings. This book was suspenseful and I love how Melissa writes so that it's not obvious who the "villain" is. I laughed, I cried and I just LOVED this book.
I just love this series by Melissa Schroeder and this is my new favorite. Drew and Cat are the ones I have been cheering for in the other books of this series to get their story.

Finally Cat and Drew"s story. They have been dancing around each other for awhile. She finally agrees to go to the wedding with him and then the next day, he was shot. She ran instead of being there for him.
Cat is the lead on this case. Drew is having a hard time concentrating during the meetings. Drew is picked to go undercover to try and track the killer. Sh is totally against it. Will they find the killer? Will Cat finally quit fighting her feelings?

An over due love

These books have been so engaging! I love the theme that has been woven through each book! This 4th book resolved a long over due relationship that was filled with misconceptions. The fact that our heroine and hero finally found the courage to face the truth of their love for each other, 4 years in the making, was the heart of the tale. Filled with suspense which is characteristic of Melissa Schroeder’s writing style all is resolved with great satisfaction!

TFH #4

I love the TFH team, work relationships are definitely more complicated than most but hey who doesn't love a challenge. Romance, suspense, and great characters are something I've come to expect from Mrs. Schroeder and she hasn't let me down yet. I can't wait to see the rest of the team get their HEA.

Chilling

Good reading but with surprises. Good that Cat and Drew got back together! One thing I noted is that wrong shooter was listed, Will is the one that shot Drew! Dating service was perfect cover up for following men! Good read!

Sensual romance

Guess I'm just getting tired of this series. This story just didn't impress me as much as the last few. I like the characters but this couple just annoyed me somehow.

I was really worried for these two, they just didn’t seem to be able to get on the same page! The time they took apart though, that was needed, so they could figure things out in their own head, in their own hearts, before coming together <3

(Task Force Hawaii) 4. Tangled Passions

Things did get tangled, with the case and their love lives. But with the help of their friends they made it. Now, waiting for #5.

You can never go wrong with the Task Force Hawaii Team! They make you want to continue to read until the end!

Drew Franklin and Catherine "Cat" Kalakua were having a hard time coping with being around each other. A perfect date in the past ended up with Drew being hurt and Cat feeling at fault. The tore them apart and left them hoping to be able to work together amicably without the events of the past getting in the way.
This was easier said then done when Cat becomes the lead on an investigation and Drew now has to work alongside her to catch a serial killer. This isn't good for the island or the team dynamics, but as the TFH family gets closer to the truth, the team bonds have to keep them all safe.
While the TFH books can be read alone, you will definitely want to read them all. The team is more of a family and all of their stories continue to be intertwined. There is the meddling parents, caring co-workers, fun & games, and seriousness when necessary.
While Cat, Drew, & the team draw the killer out, it causes Cat & Drew to realize that they have a lot to discuss. And with the team all putting in their opinions, this isn't the easiest thing to deal with.

I can't say which TFH couple is my favorite because they all bring a different aspect to the table, but following the journey of Cat and Drew was definitely worth the wait of them coming full circle. Melissa Schroeder captured the emotions (and reasons behind them) in a way that makes you want their happiness even more! Drew and Cat appreciate the love that is between them, and once they get past the pain, they learn so much more about each other.

Definitely a win for the Task Force Hawaii series!

I've been a fan of author Melissa Schroeder's Task Force Hawaii series since the beginning and always look forward to reading the next book. She did not disappoint with Drew and Cat's story in Tangled Passions. I'd been dying to know what happened to their relationship since he was shot and why there was so much tension between them. I enjoyed seeing them work together to solve a murder case despite the strain in their relationship. These two had so much unexplored passion and it finally exploded when they came together. I liked how the author blended romance, sex and suspense in this story and I had a hard time putting this book down. I loved seeing all the other characters again and how they interact with Drew and Cat. Another great book in this series and I cannot wait for the next one.

Tangled Passions, the fourth book of Melissa Schroeder’s Task Force Hawaii series, is a humorous, sexy and emotional read that has you guessing until the end.

Cat and Drew’s story was highly anticipated for me. These two have been playing at a game of sexual tension for many books now. Cat is a strong woman with an even bigger personality. Drew is one of those rare, hard to find, good men. The chemistry these two create is more than intense. Denying their feelings has only made it worse. Seeing them finally give in to the attraction and feelings, wanting something more than a night or two, was magical. Cat and Drew are intense, in every way. Their personalities are big, they're passionate scorching. They truly to make the perfect couple.

Melissa Schroeder takes the reader to paradise once again while keeping them guessing with the turn of every page. Perfectly blending romance and suspense, in a setting that is absolute breathtaking, while keeping the reader on their toes with the plot that's turning. Tangled Passions is well worth spending a few hours in Hawaii. Suspense done right and steamy hot passion, 5 Stars!!!!

This was an enjoyable story, that really drew me in and kept me engaged throughout. I also had literally no idea who the killer was until they were revealed and the last couple of chapters had me gripped.

As for Cat and Drew I was so happy to see them finally get there story and it was worth the wait. Although it was not all smooth going, and at times I felt like banging their heads together. But once they got things figured out they certainly shared some hot moments and had a lot of sparks.

As with the previous books the descriptions of Hawaii in this story made me feel like I was right there and that is one of the things I do love about this series. The other being the group of characters that form TFH and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from this series in the future. I would also recommend this story and series to others.

Very good!

Love the others in this series so this was an automatic buy for me. Not let down either. Cat is a strong character but with no real confidence and Drew had his own insecurities, however, when he tasted her caving he suddenly realised his own determination and despite a lot of angst they started to.....hmmmm!!!! Not going to spoil it!! Read it....its good!

Love this series and Drew and Cat's story was SO good. The sizzling attraction, the suspense of a killer in the background, along with the laughs with the well meaning Mothers and "Aunties" interfering at every turn, made the book fall- in- love Perfect. Loved seeing other TFH characters reunited and that the "betting" on everything was still progressing nicely.
The story flies by so quickly - could not believe I had reached the end. Now I can't wait to see who's story will be next and catch up with all my friends.
Great job Melissa Schroeder - you are always a "must buy" for me!!!

Great! But not the best of the series!

Enjoyed this book, it was great to join Task Force Hawaii once again for another drama filled investigation, but for me was not my favourite of the series.

We have obviously met Cat and Drew before and there have been lots and lots of sparks, these sparks explode into a full fireworks display......eventually! It is lovely to catch up with the rest of the team, their interactions, interfering ways and 'secret' bets only add to the entertainment. But for me this book was not quite as good as the first three in the series, not sure why, nothing I could pinpoint, it is well written as always, I just didn't enjoy it as much as the three before it.

Still a great series that I would recommend without hesitation.

Drew and Cat finally get their 2nd chance. That is as long as Drew can stay out of the cross hairs of a serial killer. It’s an exciting tale filled with touches of intrigue and suspense, a bit of humor from meddling mothers, just the right amount of drama with splashes of romance, and some pretty steamy passion. Having the characters integrated throughout the series adds to your overall enjoyment of the story. This is an engaging and appealing romantic suspense that easily holds your interest and will keep you turning pages from beginning to end.

5 Bells Alarm Hot. 🔥

Tangled Passions was awesome. I'm loving the Task Force Hawaii series.
I always imagined Drew Franklin as a big dependable teddy bear comforting everyone not a big muscled heartthrob that could melt your panties in one glance.
Cat Kalakaua on the other hand reminded me of a tough intelligent prickly pear that had a vipers tongue.
The combination of heartthrob and viper working together on a murder case made for action packed reading and plenty of sparks.
