Halloween wouldn't be complete without a good haunting, or without some wayward spirit messing up my plans. My name is Lisa, and because I'm a grim reaper, I'll be spending All Hallows Eve trying to capture the ghost of a serial killer instead doing normal things like trick-or-treating with my kids, or drinking wine while I pass out candy.

Yep, that about sums up my life.

The only good things I have going for me tonight are the gigantic sack of Halloween candy stuffed in my purse, and the fact that Nate isn't too bad to look at. No doubt, the evening will be a night to remember...if I make it out alive.

Fun, funny and an interesting premise. An organization that sends out grim reapers that specialize in specific people. People who die stupidly, people who are murderers and so on. The team of reapers sent out in this one are going to an old, abandoned theater to dispatch a murderer where action, hilarity and reaping ensue. I enjoyed this book very much and am looking forward to reading more in this series.

dead spooky
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
spooky vibes ☑️
little slow burn romance ☑️
this book was just perfect to get into the spooky/halloween vibes.
spooky ghosts, a serial killer, a mystery, grim reapers what more could you want from a spooky story.
loved getting to meet all the ghosts of the theatre, they all had such wonderful personalities all different.
i kinda read this series out of order, starting with this book and its 2.5 in the series but i found it easy to follow along and don’t think its completely necessary to read the others first unless you want more of a backstory on lisa and how she became a grim reaper.

Even though I haven’t started the Grim Realities series when I found this little book I had to give it a try. The story very much stood on its own though on occasion it alluded to previous adventures. The writing style is great. It’s fast paced, funny, thoughtful, and clear. The characters are relatable and I am looking forward to getting to know them better in the longer books. This novella is a great way to see if the series is right for you, but be warned, there is a little something at the end of the story that I think will be a bit of a spoiler when I go back and start at the beginning.

I needed a palate cleanser after reading a dud book. This series always fits the bill. Set during Halloween, Lisa the Grim Reaper and her partner Nate end up at a theater. Their goal - reap a murderer and help reap all the ghosts who’ve been haunting the place. As always, entertaining with a hefty dollop of humor.

Boone

Oh' Boone, not up to your usual writing. Yes it is funny, fast, worth a B.
Not up to your other reads. It was as if you set down and wrote it in one setting.
For other writers a B is the norm, but not you.

A great short!

Lisa Carron continues her adventures as reaper. Working with Nate, they are called to handle a violent offender reap. Knee deep in ghosts, a theater holds questions. Did the “perp” really go it? I thoroughly enjoyed this addition in the series.

Editing

I really enjoy these stories but there are a lot of typos. This one in particular could have used some editing.

Set in a theatre totally staffed and frequented by ghosts at Halloween, this was a fun novella with just enough scary bits for October 31st.

3.5 stars

I read this because I enjoyed the first 2 Grim Reality books so much, and really enjoyed the Author's style and her wonderful characters. I only gave this 3.5 stars because I simply couldn't get into it like I did the others; it didn't grab me by the face and make me devour it all at once, and I had quite a few false starts before I could finish it. I can't even pinpoint why, which isn't fair to anyone ... so I'm absolutely going to go back and read the first two (in all my spare time) to recall them freshly before I do a full review on this one.

A fitting halloween novella

Boone has a way with setting a scene that it makes you feel part of it. I teared up about pammy and thought that more was going on. There are still a couple of things, like the mention of a ghost moose that confuse me as I do not remember them in either of the first two books, but overall this was a very appropriate story for Halloween even if was slightly sad. Also liked that we learned more about pick.

I love this series. The whole idea behind Lisa being a Grim Reaper is just awesome. This book is short, but it packs a lot into a short read. You definitely won't feel cheated. Lisa and Nate have to go to a haunted theater to reap a serial killer, but all is not as it seems. There is a closure and a bit of a HEA at the end.

Another great story

I love this grim reaper series. This is a fun Halloween story. Boone writes some of the best dialogue. I'm looking forward to many more grim reaper stories!

I received this book for free from the Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Serial killer or nice guy?
Dead Spooky by Boone Brux is mystery, comedy and a slight bit of romance (well lots of flirting) all rolled into a compact story.

This book is the first that I have read of Boone Brux’s. I have to tell you that I like the cover (always a big plus for me), but the story instantly grabbed me. The family dynamics like the conversation with Lisa and her mom were great. Lisa’s relationship with her kids came through; she is a great mom.
Lisa Carron
Lisa is the main character and whose point of view we follow. She has lots of hot guys around her, who temp her to flirt but she tries to keep it professional. However, she is a flirt.

Lisa is a grim reaper, descended from one of the first ever reapers. She uses a scythe that Thanatos (her very great grandfather) gave her and her familiar is a raven named Fletcher. How cool is that? Lisa is a soccer mom; she even brought two pounds of Halloween candy with her to work. She will work and eat Halloween candy.

There are many times throughout the story that Lisa made me laugh. This how she describes her job.
Because I was a grim reaper, death followed me everywhere, meowing like a needy cat, winding around my legs and tripping me up. If a spirit wasn’t on my Must-Reap list, I usually ignored them, but sometimes death wouldn’t be denied. It invaded my life like a stinky cat box, demanding to be scooped up and disposed of properly.

We met many ghosts throughout the book, some are nice, and some aren’t. It doesn’t matter each soul is judged and goes up or down. Which way will you go?
5 Stars for Dead Spooky by Boone Brux
My rating for Dead Spooky by Boone Brux is five stars. I enjoyed this short story and will be looking up the other books in the Grim Reality Series. It doesn’t take long to read so if you are looking for an easy read that makes you laugh this is the perfect book.
