Bad Boy checklist: English accent, dirty imagination, and an even dirtier mouth. Sex whenever and wherever I can get it. V-card carrying co-stars beware!
Felicity Caine: I know what I'm doing when I invite A-list actor Dare Wilde to step into my life. He's the badass villain to my sweet ingénue. I know how to play this role, even if it's my first time. The problem is he knows too, and he's not sticking to the script.
Dare Wilde: Flicka Caine lands in my lap like a cherry bomb--fuse already lit. She might taste like spun sugar, but there's nothing sweet about the ache she causes. The child star is all grown up. I refuse to be her mistake, but I think she could well be mine.
You would think that Flicka would be content with being a child star who has been on a hit show along with her twin, Flo but that isn’t the case in Cherry Bomb. Who would blame Flicka seeing that she is a young woman now who is ready to cut ties with the show that is geared for kids? She could only be seen with certain people, there was no drinking, no smoking, actually living her life as any normal young woman would want to. So her great plan is to get seen going out with Hollywood’s bad boy, Dare. Dare is notorious for living life to its fullest and not caring what anyone thinks which is easy to do when he has no problem being typecast as the bad boy or villain in every movie he has done.
Flicka and Dare are from two different worlds and the world Flicka is from does not want her taking a walk on the wild side. Plus how would “innocent” Flicka have any way of capturing bad boy, Dare’s attention? Sure, she’s beautiful and talented but he knows as well as anyone that Flicka is a woman who isn’t allowed to “play” with people like Dare. What happens when they do cross paths and because the chemistry is so strong between these two that they land a part in a new movie dealing with a love triangle? Will Flicka’s current management even allow her to film a movie like this and at what cost to not only Flicka but her twin as well? These two will really steam things up for you all the while trying to act as if they could care less about the other. Who is the person that is spying on their every move and will this person have the goods needed in order to bring Flicka down and reveal all of Dare's secrets?
Edited to add additional details, and then realized that I should have listed the most egregious offense first. So I’m too lazy to rewrite my whole review. But in case anyone thinks the first this isn’t a big deal and stops reading I want to say the male main character also cheats in the epilogue (yep, really) 8 months later, continue ... 1st draft: No, just no. The hero and heroine have already started their story. They like each other and are sexually attracted to each other. They’ve both secretly had a thing for each other from afar. He’s had something thoughts about women not wanting a relationship with a guy like him, implying that he wants someone who wants more. They end up having phone sex, but she is overheard and she has to go. His roommate overheard, walks into the room and noticing he still has a hard on, drops down and gives him a blowjob. WTH? This went downhill fast. It would be one thing if that scene happened before their relationship started, but for it to not only be after, but also because of an experience with her is just awful. I mean seriously, why would the author do this, it’s basically cheating. He acted like it was ok to just get the release, but don’t all cheaters say that? “It didn’t matter, it was just sex” right? Hell he doesn’t even feel guilty about it like most cheaters at least pretend to, he just moves about his day. And of course the heroine is a nineteen year old virgin who has basically been under lock and key, so she is not doing ANYTHING with anyone. So it’s not like the author is at least quid pro quo. I don’t even know how exactly to summarize the context of the way everything happened and why it’s worse than other books but I guess I have to try. I read ahead a bit farther after it happened to see what he was thinking. He is hard core trying to convince her that there is something real between them. When she starts to question whether it was a mistake he cuts her off and even calls their phone sex “precious”. What a mindfu$& considering he didn’t even wait a minute before getting sexual with someone else. I have read other books where the “hero” is on the douchey side and hooks up with someone else after he’s started flirting with the heroine (this was just so much worse). You can usually at least see it coming with those types. He definitely is pursuing her, and his inner monologue hasn’t even hinted that he is looking to get with anyone else. It’s like the author wanted to blindside you with it or something, but then to have him being that way to her? They do stay together and end up married (I know this because I read another book by this author with them in it as a couple) and this guy can’t even say that he hasn’t been with anyone since they got involved. DNF
Edited to say: I was all set to DNF this, but I try to finish books to at least give a fair review. Plus occasionally there are books where the hero redeems himself so I went ahead and finished it. This is absolutely not the case here. Not only does the “hero” have no faith in the heroine at a pivotal time, he completely blows HER off. He couldn’t tell her apart from her twin in an interview. That’s bad enough but he isn’t willing to hear her out to make sure that there there wasn’t a good reason for her to have given the interview. I guess I should have known this guy was a douche already, but I was actually surprised when she’s says the I love you to him several times (and way before) he says it back to her. It’s a couple of chapters later when the author even bothers having him say it to her. Then she randomly asks about seeing him with his friend because she has guessed that something may have happened in the past, it’s comes off as her being insecure about their relationship and needing reassurance. He reassures her that he doesn’t need the friend and only wants her. She asks if he means it and he says he does... Here’s the kicker in the epilogue and EIGHT FREAKING MONTHS later he randomly has his friend start going down on him in front of her! She asks what’s going on (she seems to think he was proposing). He says that didn’t she want to watch that, and she gives several signs that that time is past. She states that there is hurt in her own voice, she then states that her eyes are swimming with tears, and then when the friend says something about her not being the first girl to want to see her guy with another guy she clearly states that it doesn’t turn her on. I guess she could have gotten up and stormed off, but she is apparently some weak chick that will do anything for her man. What’s more important is that if he had given even a half of a crap for her he wouldn’t have been willing to do something like this in the first place after reassuring her months ago that there was nothing between him and the friend, let alone after she’s hurt and crying. Again it’s been 8 months since the idea was even mentioned and it was the beginning of their relationship. What the hell kind of crap is this? This isn’t sexy, it’s freaking toxic. Oh and right AFTER this he proposes. I’m not sure whether the author put these scenes in for shock value or because she doesn’t give her readers enough credit to think think they can enjoy a story about a bi- guy without seeing him in action to believe it? Either way, I don’t care because she could have done whatever before he got with the heroine. As is both of the other options are awful and complexity ruined the story. This should have been a definite DNF, and next time I won’t fight that urge. I wouldn’t read another book by this author if you paid me.
Thank you Mad...oops, I mean Clara Leigh! It is amazing to review your books! I have been a fan of this author's and her alter ego for a while now. I had a set favorite of hers, but this one has unseated that book. Cherry Bomb is my favorite from this author by far. Cherry Bomb is a movie star story with our heroine who is stuck in a never ending bubblegum pop phase of her life due to her & her twins contract with a company since childhood. Flicka is ready to finally grow up and she feels Dare Wilde is her answer. I loved the storyline and the characters. The characters she created in this world are pure gold & I quickly feel in love with them. Especially Dare and his best friend Lourne. Gah! I seriously fell in love with them! They are ultimate bad boys, but with great hearts. Lourne is the best friend anyone would ask for...with a added bonus lol. Dare is not what you expect when you first start reading, but you will love him even more for it. Flicka & her sister are great too. The readers see them go a long way in a short time...although I do wonder how their relationship status after that last bit. We really don't get to know and what Flo did... yep, I am curious. I know their twins, but that what was...wow. I just think it wasn't as simple as what we read. And the Borrower... oh my Lord! So sweet. This is a must read book. It's got it all and so much more! I cannot wait for more from this series. I also cannot believe that she wrote a book to top all others! She out does herself every single time don't get me wrong... book hangover for real... but I have held firm on my favorite. No more. This is it, but I have this feeling she will top this one too!
I would LOVE to know who Clara Leigh really is - so far my google searches are coming up empty but damn this was good writing. I thought this was going to be a stock standard romance but the characters just came alive off the page and I really became invested in Flicka's plight to find freedom.
Once you get into the book it isn't hard to see we could be reading about any number of child stars struggling to make an escape into adulthood. Names are thinly veiled but it adds to the fun and knowing that this kinda stuff actually happens to child stars makes it feel real and very vulnerable.
I also loved Dare. He has this bad boy image in the media but that isn't who he really is. Unfortunately no one cares enough to see the real him - until he meets Flicka.
This read with way more story than you normally find in a romance book and a big round of applause to Clara for giving us romance and characters with depth. As a side note my heart was kinda breaking for Lorne who had to watch his 'very' close friend fall in love but not be happy. So want to go out and read about Lorne in book 2. He was so perfect as the ever present best friend.
You know a book is good when you don't want to read anything else after the end. An amazing 5 stars - now I really need to know who Clara is so I can read her other works.
Twin sisters Felicity (Flicka) & Flo have grown up from child stars to young women who are tired of being told how to act what to eat and never waiver from their goody two shoes persona by the Studio that owns them lock stock & barrel. Felicity hatches a crazy plan to approach Bad Boy A-lister actor Dare Wilde. Being seen with the scandal a week Star is surely enough to get Felicity and her sister out of the kids television show they have been staring in for years. Right? Ah best laid plans never work but oh boy what happens instead I love Dare he is soo sexy and unapologetic but there is so much more to him. Felicity is wise beyond her years and knows what she wants but is so programmed into doing whatever is expected of her that you understand her need to break away. There's many other characters in this book that are dying for their own and for me I can't wait for Dare's very naughty housemate Lorne's story. I was gifted a copy of this book in advance.
This was the first book that I've read by this author. It was a fast paced romance. It was easy reading with likeable characters. It has the right amount of twists to keep you hooked in.
What a slog. I persisted to see if I was correct about something (I was not). Poorly paced, poorly characterised, poorly written and way too long. And both main characters are unpleasant people. I have another in the series, and I will read it to see if this was an aberration before I give up on this author.
A little of everything in this one and I loved it. Drama, fire, sugar, spice, bad boys, good girls, catty bitches and jealous lovers. I can’t wait to read more about the sunsetters!
I'm not sure how I missed this book. I'm a massive fan of Madelynne Ellis - her writing is just brilliant. This book was magnificent movie star excellence of the highest order. An addictive read.
I enjoyed these characters and their chemistry. When I reached the end, I found myself really wanting more of an epilogue. Meeting the families and their life together. But other than that, I really liked this instalove celebrity romance.
The good girl who wants her freedom and bad boy who can totally helped that. Flicka (still not sure if that’s her nickname or real name) is stuck in her career of teen idol was with her twin sister, Flo, so she comes up with a plan to ruin bubble gum image and that plan is Dare Wilder.
Nothing really goes according to Flicka’s plan especially since she was just going to use Dare for her needs without giving him anything in return. I did enjoy the book, but I did get annoyed with Flicka to be honest, she starts off all big and bad with her plan to ruin her image and as soon as she is able to get what she wants, she falters at every chance. She does this throughout the book and I just couldn’t get over lack of follow through or ignorance in not finding a lawyer to help her and her sister.
Now the one thing that really made this book 3 stars for me, is when the couple knows they need to be discreet to save either themselves or their career, then proceed to do something they shouldn’t in public; then are truly and I mean truly surprised when they get caught and they are revealed to the world.
I actually loved Dare and Lorne way more than Flicka; even if their friendship was a bit on the odd side. I think Lorne might have been in love with Dare, but it is never confirmed. Also I absolutely adored the Borrower, she was so cute.
In the end, there was so much going I couldn’t really follow what was going on.
This was a decent book. Flicka was really immature but does grow a little. Dare pissed me off at one point and I could not get past it. He is interested in Flicka yet allows Lorne to give him a BJ. I question guys who cannot stay 'faithful' when they are pursuing someone else. 9ver the story was okay though.

If you ever wanted to read an Olsen twins/Britney Spears mashup character falling for [insert Hollywood bad boy actor here] erotica, this might be your book. Sadly I was bored by the main conflict of the Disney-proxy production company keeping the two MCs apart - there were, however, two scenes worth noting for their rarity in the genre towards the end that made this not a total loss.
Felicity (Flicka) Caine is a young, successful actress who wants out from under the thumb of the production company, Chinchilla (a very thinly veiled Disney analogue), that "owns" her and her twin, Flo. Her plan is to ask bad boy actor Dare Wilde (a screen name, but really??) to be seen out with her in PG-13 but compromising situations that would violate her contractual "purity" clause or something. She gets the balls to approach him at his club, but he turns her down - he's tired of being the bad boy. He wants to be the hero. Too bad they already shared a hot-stuff kiss. This leaves both of them wanting more. A more public second kiss ends with them cast in a movie together - where they want to explore their desire even if it is a bad idea and literally everyone in the movie world and their personal lives is against it. Can they develop a real relationship, and will it survive when it all goes public?
The book is written in roughly alternating chapters from Flicka's and Dare's perspectives, and aside from Dare's being a bit more crass, they sounded similar to me. Maybe because there's jokey descriptive observations to almost EVERYTHING that happens that both of them do. Celebs are people too! But this book didn't make me feel like they were - both characters had way too much awareness of the foibles and contradictions of their own and others' behavior.
There is a LOT of detail about the movie business and filming in this book, which for me, was a snoozefest, and I got really tired of it being the main roadblock to the two being together. I also just couldn't really relate to Flicka's fierce desire for independence from a studio or Dare's sad at being typecast? And I got really tired of their sneaking around. You would think it would lead to hot sex scenes but they were just "meh" to me.
However! There are two scenes toward the end that are really notable for how rare and well done they are. One I must hide behind a spoiler:
The other one has to do with how Ellis handles Dare's relationship with his best-friend-with-benefits, Lorne (this is not a spoiler as it's established pretty early in the book). Lorne plays a big role in introducing Flicka to Dare, and also helps their relationship along the way. Dare only really hints at the "with benefits" nature of their relationship until towards the end - and Ellis sets up that lightweight conflict with Flicka very well, and it plays out in a sexual scene that actually includes a very politely handled denial. LOVED that inclusion, so very real.
But overall, celebs are not my kink, and I honestly kinda only read this to get the background on the "Stirred Passions" series - literally every book after this one has a way more interesting setup to me. For example, the next one: Lorne's story! I'm looking forward to it.
In continuing with my Kindle/Amazon Freebie clean-out (aka.. read the damn things already!) this one was next on my list.
Childhood star and one half of Chinchilla's good-girl identical twin sister duo, Felicity Caine has had enough. Enough of being told what to do, when to eat, to exercise and who she can and cannot associate with. No longer wanting the network to run another season of their show, she wants out. Wanting to break away from their squeaky-clean image and out of her mother and manager's grasps, Flicka (aka Felicity) seeks out the bad-boy of supporting roles and always-playing-the-villain, Dare Wilde. With his reputation, she just needs to be seen with him. Getting out of a cab.. nothing too risque, she doesn't want to destroy her or her sisters reputation. Dare Wilde can't believe it when good-girl Flicka and her cherry gloss is on his lips at his reputation-ruining club. Unable to keep away from her, Dare kisses the blonde beauty at an awards ceremony, sparking all sorts of trouble for the pair. With their undeniable chemistry, it's no wonder they're both hired to star in a new action blockbuster. But Felicity is under strict rules not to engage with Dare outside of work at all. And if that isn't just like prodding the beast.
I really liked these two. Chemistry was H.O.T! A couple of little unexpecteds along the way kept things interesting. Definitely interested in reading more from this series.
I read this book way back in the day when Madelynne first published it under a different penname. It was outstanding then, and it is still outstanding today. Her writing has stood the test of time and continues to be some of the sexiest, well developed stories I have had the pleasure of reading.
I know I’m going to sound biased, but I promise you, this isn’t coming from a biased place. These characters have unrivaled depth to them. They are characters you will not want to stop reading about, living lives that are relatable and real. Yes, this story/series is about actors so maybe not exactly you and me, I don’t know, but what you imagine the plight of actors to be is very well represented in this book/series.
Flicka and Dare …. *happy sigh* I mean that’s the best I can come up with for them. Dare is so beyond swoon-worthy that I don’t know what word to use! This is a coming of age story but I’m telling you it does not read like most coming of age stories I’ve ever read. Obviously that’s because of their circumstances and Madelynne made sure to represent that perfectly, not only in the story-line but also in the characters. She wrote these two with intense chemistry and their story had just the right amount of suspense to keep you glued to the story!
READ THIS SERIES! I promise you that you will not be disappointed!
Flicka, along with her twin sister, have a contract with a company since they were kids, so the hit show they star on is geared to kids. Flicka has had enough since she's a young woman now, and playing this part means that she can't do anything that young women do. She comes up with a plan which involves Hollywood's bad boy, Dare, to be seen going out with him since he never cares what anyone thinks of him. They're complete opposites, but their chemistry is so intense that they land on a new movie together, however the push & pull is insane since both are acting like there's nothing going on. Not to mention, this situation with Dare could have a negative impact on her twin sister's career, but that chemistry isn't going to be denied. Now, they have to get past whoever is stalking/spying on them to get the goods, which provided some great twists. How does it all play out?! You'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I enjoyed reading this lengthy novel, as I became engaged by the diversity in characters. There was a large ensemble cast, of whom the Main Male Character`s BFF, had a wicked sense of humor and who also was extremely protective and loyal to the main male character. The main male and the main female characters experienced an immediate attraction for one another. This was an interesting story that gave insight on the inner-workings to the business of making movies. In this tale we are witness to career sabotage, a mystery, and constrictive work expectations. The journey of the main male and main female characters was certainly fraught with angst, many extremely sensual scenes and a number of life events that added some speed bumps to their romantic journey. Excellent title that was clearly laid out at being many of the strong and beautifully summed up in the story`s conclusion.
Twin sisters who are child stars have had enough of being owned and controlled by the Studio , they need to stretch their wings and to have the control themselves.. Felicity needs to discard her good girl image , Dare Wilde a supporting actor who known as a bad boy , but is he? Dare is amazed that this "good girl" is pursuing him , perhaps she isn't the innocent young woman he thought she was.. They get together , their chemistry is mind blowing . This book is good very easy to read with a good story line that adds hotness , lust, adoration and so much more..
For my first Madelynne Ellis book this was surprisingly good read. The plot had me turning pages without stopping. I did have some issues with the book but they were my personal views that had triggered.
Dare and Flicks relationship started a bit rocky with everything going against them. But they managed to end up together but not before stumbling over a obstacle or two. Over all this story was funny, angsty, dirty and of course hot and steamy.
I'm glad I was introduced to this author and I'm looking forward to reading more.

This is the 1st book I've read written by Clara Leigh; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I will definitely be reading more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

Cherry Bomb is book 1 in the Stirred Passions trilogy but it can be read as a stand alone and doesn't have a cliff hanger. This is the first book that I have read from Madelynne Ellis and will definitely start book #2!! I love the characters Dare and Flicka and their intense chemistry that quickly heated up! Not everything is at it seems in this quick affair and it will leave you guessing who could turn their back on such an amazing couple!!!
This is a 3.5 star read. The ages threw me off. Flicka is 19 and Dare is four or five years older than her, but has a kid who's gotta be five or six, at least. But the way they talk and act makes Dare seem much older. Honestly, I would think Felicity would prefer Felicity over Flicka as she tries to break free from Chichilla's child star persona. Why did Flo give the interview? I have questions and confusions but generally I enjoyed the book.
Interesting story. When Lorne got into his knees in front of Dare, I was shocked and thought it was sooo hot!
I like the characters, the writing style, the story flow, etc. I skipped here and there. Too much sex? It's a bit exciting but I was hoping for something deeper or dramatic.
I didn't expect much from Cherry Bomb, but found myself pulled into the story. The plot and the way the couple grew into love. The sex was always butt wriggling good! The characters were fascinating and we'll defined. The mystery was easily solved.
Two ticking time bombs These two are like fire and ice touch either one and you will get burned. But stick them together and make chaos ensue. Can they overcome social stigma Can they get beyond sex Can a happy ending be

Cherry Bomb is Explosive, heated, demanding, and surprisingly sweet on the tongue. Flicka and Dare test the limits of every boundary set before them only to realize their connection was so much more than any scripted performance. Add in a few unconventional sexual escapades and you have just another day in the lives of the Sunsetters. This was my first book from this author and I am hooked!
