Danger Signs of an Unhealthy Dating Relationship

“I know that the one I’m thinking of spending the rest of my life with is a sinner. I am one too. I know that no two people are totally compatible, and in a marriage of two sinners, there will be difficulties. But sometimes I wonder if we will make it. There are issues over which we keep on stumbling. Am I being oversensitive? Am I worrying about nothing? Or, are my concerns about our compatibility valid?”

If thoughts and questions like this trouble you, this book may help. Here’s an inventory to help you decide if the light on the road before you is green, yellow or red. It is designed to identify problem areas before you move forward with marriage plans, to serve as a useful tool as you seek godly advice from those who counsel you.

If you have any doubts about whether or not to move forward towards marriage with this person, take time to read this book. By the time you are finished, your doubts may be relieved. And, even if they aren’t, you should have a much better understanding of the issues that must be addressed in order to remove doubts and have a marriage that is pleasing to God and deeply rewarding to both of you.

Read this as a part of my premarital counseling homework. It was helpful getting to look through this and reflect on the sinful behaviors and thought patterns I can bring into relationships. It was also sweet getting to talk through different topics with my fiancé. This would be super helpful for Christians to read as they enter into dating relationships.

A quick, easy read that directed my attention to potential blind spots! Probably good for any relationship, not just a dating relationship.

Wasn't as beneficial as I thought, but Priolo says it is not meant to provide in-depth scriptural solutions to potential problems. Would look to recommend some other resource to a Christian couple that is dating first but this can't hurt to read.

Given by Jesus G in February. Priolo gives 24 danger signs that a couple should prayerfully evaluate their relationship by and decide whether to move forward to marriage or not.

"it is better to be single and wish to be married than to be married and wish to be single." (x)

"in Christ there is hope for all of us. I pray that in the long run (if not in the short run), this book will be a blessing to you." (x)

A good, though slightly short, overview of some red flags to evaluate in your partner from a trusted Christian author. I like the balance between grace and caution.
