Third book in the Ginger Tea series of small illustrated cookbooks, Flash in the Pan pretty much takes up where Fear of Frying left off, teaching inexperienced cooks how to get a good, tasty, relatively cheap and healthy dinner on the table, armed with not much more than a frying pan. Barber's line drawings are spare and funny, making it not only easy but entertaining to follow these recipes.

The humor, while not pungent, is definitely for adults, so though kids may see these recipes and say, "Yay, cartoons!", parents may want to give it a preview before handing it off to their youngest would-be chefs.
