Witch Blaze

Rate this book
14 year old Julie Ann is unhappy to be moving with her widowed father to the tiny seaside town of Witch Blaze, a town with a darkly bizarre history to match its unfortunate name. Left alone during an unexpected blackout, she will be forced to summon all of her courage as the night comes alive with hungry, vicious creatures which turn out to be the least of her troubles.

From Gina Ranalli (Ghost Chant, House of Fallen Trees) comes a menacingly surreal tale of a helpless girl caught in a sinister nightmare born of fire and madness.

Moving to a new town is stressful for a teenager, expecially in a town called 'Witch Blaze.'
After a shop owner across the street lets out the story of the towns choosen name.
The haunting begins.

An nuanced and suspenseful novella with no filler. A solid story with developed characters that moves in a steady, rhythmic cadence that lulls you into the town of Witch Blaze and doesn't let you go until the tale is told. Ranalli doesn't waste a single word in this piece, but somehow manages to paint a vivid picture of a lonely girl in a haunted town with the devils knocking down her door. A carefully crafted story that is perfect for a one-sitting read.

I liked where Witch Blaze was going with the story, but it didn't stick the landing.

Gina Ranalli has really dropped the ball with this one. The story had so much potential but didn't deliver. It also needs a good edit.
