About the author

Anthony de Mello was a Jesuit priest and psychotherapist who became widely known for his books on spirituality. An internationally acclaimed spiritual guide, writer and public speaker, de Mello hosted many spiritual conferences.

The few talks which he allowed to be filmed, such as "A Rediscovery of Life" and "A Way to God for Today," have inspired many viewers and audiences throughout the United States, Canada, and Central America. De Mello established a prayer center in India. He died suddenly in 1987. His works are readily available and additional writings were published after his death.

In 1998, some of his opinions were condemned by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who later became Pope Benedict XVI, wrote for the Congregation:
"But already in certain passages in [his] early works and to a greater degree in his later publications, one notices a progressive distancing from the essential contents of the Christian faith. ... With the present Notification, in order to protect the good of the Christian faithful, this Congregation declares that the above-mentioned positions are incompatible with the Catholic faith and can cause grave harm."

Some editions of his books have since been supplemented with the insertion of a caution:
"The books of Father Anthony de Mello were written in a multi-religious context to help the followers of other religions, agnostics and atheists in their spiritual search, and they were not intended by the author as manuals of instruction of the Catholic faithful in Christian doctrine or dogma."

Este libro me enseño la forma en como ser libre; romper las cadenas imaginarias que nosotros mismos creamos, dejando ir aquello que debe de salir de nuestra vida, no siendo dependientes de cosas materiales ni de aquello que no es útil para nuestra vida y bienestar, y claro aprender amar a los demás de formas distintas.

Al principio  del libro pensaba como joder este Man está loco en que libro me metí, luego me Di cuenta que es psicólogo y fui entendiendo mucho algunos de sus puntos aunque debo confesar que a veces me ha tocado leer dos veces para entender mucho mas ya que siempre quedan incógnitas y eso y muchas veces ahí mismo ves tu respuesta la verdad es que pelee mucho muchísimo sola es como es una torre de libros y que hambre... déjame por favor llegar hermana. Me gustó muchisisisisismo sobre todo  como entraba en debate con el libro todos me miraban como que rara acá no está el autor pero siempre siento que  me acerco al autor al leer su libro luego me siguió encantando de una manera y lo termine con una emoción 😍😍 TIENEN QUE LEERLO TE SORPRENDERÁ 😍

Me sugirieron este libro cuando alguien vio un sentimiento de culpabilidad en mí… cuánta verdad encontré en este libro, que no solo me ayuda a liberarme de culpas sino a comprender mejor la realidad de mi existencia. El libro define el amor, la vida, el miedo y el odio. Es un excelente libro pero sí requiere un conocimiento previo de aspectos filosóficos básicos, así como de religión.

Bonito libro, lleno de frases y reflexiones muy interesantes sobre la vida una de ellas es:
“Dentro de mi suena una melodía cuando llega mi amigo, y es mi melodía la que me hace feliz, y cuando mi amigo se va me quedo lleno de su música.”

Me agrado leerlo, me hizo sentir mejor y me identifiqué con muchas cosas que dice.

Este libro lo leí hace más de 10 años, recordaba poco. Escrito por un padre jesuita sui géneris que habla de depertar a las programaciones familiares, sociales y hasta religiosas.

Question everything, even the ideas you believe in.
There are a lot of things about this book that will take the reader out of the comfort zone. It’s a book to read only with an open mind, ready to question and re-learn whatever you already believe in. It’s about finding the truth without encapsulating it in one doctrine. It’s also about been aware and awake to the reality. You may like it or not, it depends on every person; but I believe that it’s a most for those whose mind it’s thirsty of knowledge.
