The Army doesn’t want them, they’re too much trouble! MI6 does, they’re the best at what they do, and they need the best. MI6 have a problem. A missing agent kidnapped and taken to hostile territory for interrogation. Only one option is open, and that’s a high-risk rescue operation over two hundred miles into hostile territory with no support. A ‘do or die mission’ where the stakes are high and failure isn’t an option.
‘Great book. Fun from beginning to end. Humorous at times, action all over the place, the troop are just what you expect and the bosses even more so,’ (one reviewer said)
Sting of the Scorpion is the first book in the high octane ‘Scorpion one’ series By Lawrence Hebb Strap in and join the team today for an adventure that will have you wanting more.
Action, character development, plot: you had it all ... and lost it to lousy proof-reading. Shoddy grammar and puerile punctuation. What a disappointment!
a bother is about all this manuscript is. it's full of typos, very faulty punctuation, tons of syntax errors (conjugation, dude! verb tense!). sentences that are supposed to, but are really only clauses with no punctuation clues about whether they belong to the last clause or the next one, but no matter;they still won't make a complete sentence, so all continuity for that paragraph gets sacrificed. I take it this is a selfie, a tale he wrote alone, didn't edit, and just squeezed it through the publishing process fueled by some measure of excited relief that he at least got it written. he shouldn't have bothered; bothered is all his oversights allow his readers to feel. but it's a good example of how not to write a story. don't quit your day job, dude.
The book is interesting, with a lot of action. The book has a good flow with the story line. The characters are well developed and have a likable personality. They all have a flow in the story that moves and blend’s, showing they have worked together a while. The only problem I had was several paragraphs repeated themselves several times. The book is worth reading. Read and enjoy.
This is an excellent thriller, an action packed story about an undercover military rescue mission into Iran. It starts with a British MI6 (Military Intelligence Six) agent being kidnapped while on a mission in Istanbul, Turkey. It appears to be an Iranian team that pulls off the kidnapping and they’ve taken him to a medieval castle fortress that is now a prison in northern Iran, which is a Kurdish area. MI6 pulls together a quick reaction team of Special Air Services (“SAS”) military personnel. The SAS team is instructed to rescue the agent or if that is not possible, they must kill the agent before torture makes him talk. The kidnapped agent knows a lot of sensitive and critical information about British intel missions in Iran. It is a very realistic scenario that the author has drawn up. The rescue mission involves danger when finding a way into the prison fortress, as well as the extraction from the prison and then getting out of Iran itself. There is plenty of action, violence and suspense in this story. There is not much time taken to develop the characters, but character development wasn’t necessarily needed. The SAS team was given a mission, and the team is highly mission driven. The dialogue is very short and to the point, but it certainly fits the dangerous and risky situations in this story.
This is the first book I read from this author and let me tell you that I loved it! Such a good book with great characters that keeps you obsessed with every page since the first one. The ending of this book.. come on! I just didn´t expect it! Can´t wait to read other books from this great writer! Amazing job! a must-read! A fantastic book that has it all! I happily endorse this story to any and all who are looking for a fiction enjoyable read and a completely different experience than anyone could imagine on their own. ¡Great book!
Scorpion One, an SAS elite team, is sent to rescue a captured MI6 agent held hostage in Iran in a castle atop a mountain cliff. How difficult can that be??
Their orders are to rescue him or kill him if they can't rescue him. The team knows their target, so the only option is to rescue him.
The action moves quickly, with plenty of real-world action.
The twist at the end is nice.
The book is engaging, fun, and hard to put down. I had a good time reading the book.
This book may have not been what I was expecting But it was a good book to read
When I read this book it sounded like A real actual report of a situation that happened. I got the book thinking that this was more of a military mystery romance book. And it was But this author has a way that makes you feel like they were in this circumstance and they're reporting on it like they would report on any activity that they performed. So if you're looking for that kind of book this will be right up your alley.
I'm a fan of military action books, I've literally read a few hundred. This was a decent story, but I had some difficulty both with grammar and punctuation. I found I had to keep re-reading sentences and paragraphs because it was so disjointed and didn't make sense. Some of the action scenes were badly described and the book as a whole was very cluncky, this author is in dire need of a proof reader and an editor.
As mentioned in another review; a great story, good character development, BUT lousy proof reading. Numerous grammatical errors, punctuation mistakes or non existent and several repeated paragraph, word for word. Really took away from the story. Hope the author did better in hi following books.
At the very beginning, I didn't think that I would finish this book. The grammar was so bad. Some sentences made no sense and quote marks were all over the place. But I persevered. By the end, I didn't notice all of the editing mistakes, but got caught up in the story. I think that it would make a good movie. I especially liked the dog.
If you like action This is a book you must Read. It was nonstp from the beginning to end. It's an extremely hard book to put down as you can hardly Wait for what's happening next Very excited book And extremely well written
The scorpion group does the impossible and still make it seem surprising that it happens. The story doesn't tell you if they find the mole in the intelligence group. Did I miss something?
I was gripped and taken into the tantalising story along with the characters!!! 🤗 THE story was pulse gripping and fantastic!!!🤗🤗🤗🤗 I would recommend this book to you and all my friends!!!!😉😉😉 The 5 Star ratting was well deserved!!!!!😃😃😃😃
The core story was okay, but the sheer number of punctuation errors was so distracting that it took away from what could have been a thrilling story. A good editor/copywriter could improve the reader’s experience immensely.
Quick read (111pages) but action filled. Main characters not developed enough but seemed to be well seasoned. I will give volume 2 a try and t hen decide to continue further.
The constant use of exclamation marks eventually drove me to complete distraction. Also the periodic forays into military strategies made up my mind that the next in the series was not for me.
