The 936 year old virgin!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🤎🖤💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 😠😘🤓😍
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The Hero: Graeme - a 936 year old dragon shifter who moved to Serenity from Scotland to help fight the demon Khain and he didn’t care if he died doing it, he actually embraced the fact that he might die. He works with the wolf shifters on the Serenity police force and is in a coma in the hospital after injuries he sustained in Shifters Sacrifice. Graeme is the last dragon.

The heroine: Heather - she has just gotten some bad news from her doctor and it changed everything about her life and how she saw her future. She is an artist who focused on glass blowing and has been working on creating a glass dragon. She has her own animal rescue at her home, which focused on reptiles, though her real job is working for her family’s mortuary in the crematorium.

The Story: Heather gets a call from a doctor at the hospital saying he has a reptile that is in a coma and is experiencing strange symptoms and he doesn’t quite know what to do. Heather says she can help but must see the lizard. When she goes to see the Doctor, she finds a beautiful beast of a man in a coma who makes her feel things she has never felt before.

This book was told in dual points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Michael Pauley who has a nice soft masculine voice, though he is a bit monotone at times, he does a good job. I only wish he didn’t do Graeme with a Scottish accent, it was a bit distracting, though more authentic to the character. I liked this story better than the first. Heather has a good back story and is an interesting character. I wish this was dual narration.

Three and a half
I spotted this and even though I hadn’t read the first book in this series I thought why not give this author a go ? A town with shifters as police looking for potential mates oh and there’s this big bad evil presence in another dimension trying to fulfill a prophecy so it certainly sounded very different to other shifter stories I’ve read.
I’m sorry but this fell flat for me. From the sexy initial scene involving the couple from the first book to lots of time with Wade the guy in charge of the wolves, all this left me actually wondering just when the central couple in this story would step up. Actually I did quite like Heather but Graeme just didn’t do it for me perhaps he was just too depressing? One moment he’s all macho and possessive and next he’s well virtually suicidal and much as I enjoy tension in romance I just couldn’t fall even a tiny bit for Graeme which is a shame.
There’s a whole host of characters dotted throughout the story and occasionally females were brought into it that I thought muddied up the flow. Plus the different shifters have odd names eg daegen not dragon and don’t get me started on what Graeme could potentially do in bed as it’s just too incendiary to contemplate and no it’s not a good thing. If frank there wasn’t a lot about the enemy of the shifters but what there was turned out to be pretty unpleasant.
So why did I carry on reading? It’s a really good idea and there is a lot of potential but for this reader perhaps too many things were not explained particularly when it came to Heather but to say more would be unfair.
Bottom line is this book tried too hard to flesh out the romance from the first story and I feel would have been more interesting if it had concentrated more on the new couple and the threat that is coming. Not a bad book but unfortunately not one that fully engaged me at times.
As I type this is free on kindle

Sexy Dragen and Heather the Fire Lover

This is a romance, sure, but it’s a lot more than your typical “every book has a romance” - there’s a strong story arc weaving its way through each book, with of course, the goal being every featured shifter gets his woman (and the other way around, too, duh). There’s a demon out there held back only by these supernatural people who are dying out because all their women were murdered 25 years before. The fall-out from that isn’t just the dying out, which is bad enough. It’s left scars for the men left behind who loved their mothers, sisters, wives.

This story features the dragon (dragen) in the group. Nine hundred years old and counting, he’s desolate and wants to die. He only wants to take the demon out with him. But the angel who left behind thousands of potential Ones had other plans for him.

Have I mentioned the backstory and world building in this series is a heck of a lot of fun? It is. There’s also a mystery involving the pendants each woman has from their sire. It’s enough to pique my curiosity and keep reading.

Note: This is a multiPOV story. You won’t just find the hero and heroine have POVs - other characters do, too, but if you love fantasy, you’ll like it.

So many things happens in this book but nothing really happens at all?

I think this book would have worked better for me if the author spent more time developing Graeme and Heather's relationship and their character arcs.

I really liked the premise but the story fell short of my expectations. The author introduces plotlines like the antagonist, the scene with the spiders, Heather admitting to arson, the cops making plans to handle something etc but it doesn't really go anywhere?

Why does Ella's (I'm guessing the FMC of the previous book) POV feature so prominently in this when it doesn't add anything to the story at all?

The scene with the family Heather gives money to - did they travel back in time or to another universe or ?? I don't get it.

Graeme resists Heather for very-important-reasons then abruptly changes his mind at the 85ish% mark with no explanation.

The story started out fairly interesting but it was a very confusing and frustrating read overall.

Oh man once again this author has taken a book with such potential and just mucked it up with a weak suicidal hero. I get the whole brooding male thing but this was beyond tiresome. Thank goodness there was no prophesy with this couple. Many things were left unresolved, were unbelievable, and the heroine came off as having a sexual arsonist fetish which was just not cohesive in anyway. This author has the potential to create a very well rounded and suck you in story but seems to not develop the story/characters completely. Well I gave the second book a try to see if there was any improvement but there really wasn't as much as I had hoped for. Perhaps I will check back in a few years and see if this author reaches her potential because the actual writing is fantastic with few errors just bringing everything together is lacking. It was good enough to pass the time but not something I was emotionally vested in.

This is book 2 in Lisa Ladew’s One True Mate series. While each book covers a couple’s romantic arc - there is a big (and several secondary) mystery/suspense storyline running through the series. In that aspect these don’t really stand alone and need to be read in order staring with Shifter’s Sacrifice. Reviews may contain spoilers to earlier books.

This was another great addition to the series. As a 900 year old dragon Graeme has spent centuries as the last of his kind. Knowing that he’ll never find love or have a family… until Heather. Heather has always known something is not quite right about her - but swinging between feeling hopeless and at times certain her true purpose awaits.

Graeme fights his attraction thinking he would literally kill his fated mate if they bond. Poor Heather has finally found the one who completes her only to be turned away. While I generally don’t enjoy angstier romance, especially with “I’m leaving because I love you” - I think because it’s interspersed with all the action and mystery it worked well for me.

They get their HFN, but the threat from Khain is still looming. Crew’s book is up next, though I admit that I’m most anticipating Mac’s. Really, all the secondary characters are compelling and I’m loving the idea of there being 10 books to enjoy.

Narration:
I enjoyed Michael Pauley’s narration. He gives all the characters unique accents and personalities. There are a ton of characters regularly appearing and he does a great job of differentiating them all.

This book is in regards to a new character, Heather and Graemte, the dragon, who we met in book one.
We as readers already know that there are unidentified human females that are one true mates. We know each book is about the a shifter meeting his one true mate. What we learn in each book is how the meeting plays out; Along with the underline storyline of the evil Khen.

Although I enjoyed this book, I did some major skimming. Heather and Greamte story was ok. To me they really didn't connect; even in the end. I believe Greamte's resistance was a major factor in this. I love some push and pull between any hero and herione but their relationship just seemed flat lined.

Also, the whole Khen story is somewhat blah... Nothing exciting...

The ending did leave me wanting to read the next book but the reviews between the hero/herione seemed to tell me otherwise. I wasn't that intrigued; so for now, I will wait.

One True Mate 2

Being 900 years old does not make anything easier. If anything, the MMC has more trauma to inform his decisions which makes him especially stubborn in his resistance to the MFC. But who wouldn't want a Scottish dragon?

The two MFCs in the series have been very similar in regards to a certain innocence and openness. They almost seem younger than 25. I think this is consistent with them having been created for a singular purpose. Although often the beginning characters in a series seem a little less defined than later characters, so we'll see.

I really like the world this series is creating. All the characters working together for a greater good. I love the lead dragon male, I definitely think lava sperm is a big reach. The female is great in this one. She is strong on her own and slow to need a man to the care of her. I do like the male is not head over heels the whole time. Thier slow burn to fall for each other is great. Also it it cool they dip inbetween worlds. Excited to see what happens there.

God just how stubborn can a dragon get? And here I was thinking that I would like this second book more than the first, because I loved Graham... But he tortured both me and Heather with his indecisiveness!

Graeme is the last Dragen on earth … Or is he?

While this could probably be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend it be read in series order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers as there are reoccurring characters, consecutive timelines and overarching themes.

⛔️ Warning: If you have not read the first story in the series, One True Mate 1, then this review may contain spoilers. Graeme is introduced in the previous story and is injured. His story begins approximately one week later.

There are a few grammatical issues. Mainly incorrect, extra or missing words, but none of them were difficult to interpret. I am trying to include these for readers that may also visualize the story in their mind as it is read. When errors occur it disrupts the flow and visual, which can be very frustrating based upon type and frequency.

This story is told from multiple POVs, more so than the first one in the series. I don’t mind that, as it helps round out the story universe and bring the characters to life. Thus, the world building was more complete, the characters were still unique with more personality coming through, and the plot maintained a good pace.

Here is an overview of how it begins:

Graeme is a Dragen, aka Dragon shifter, that has traveled Scotland to assist with the defeat of Khain, the prophesied demon destroyer. Unlike wolven, he is not a sworn protector of humankind, but has helped in the UK with some of their more difficult cases. He assists with the rescue of Trevor and his mate, Ella, and her sister from Khain. In the process he is depleted and hopes that his wish will be granted and he can finally die. He slips into a coma and is taken care of by the wolven physician, Dr. Rembrandt.

Heather works the furnace in her family’s business and rescues reptiles focusing on lizards of all types. She also makes blown glass sculptures. For the past year she has been trying to make the Dragon she visualizes in her mind, but so far, has not been able to get it exact. It is haunting her. Today is the day though that it will be perfect, she can feel it. When she is almost finished, her mother barges in and would have caught herself on fire if Heather hadn’t stopped her by extinguishing the flames of the torch herself.

This freaks her mother out, but like always, she talks until she convinces herself that Heather has a small burn. In reality she has never had a burn; fire doesn’t hurt her, it fascinates her, calls to her soul, and can consume her in “fire lust.” To get rid of her mother, she agrees to go to a family dinner the next day, while secretly wondering how her mother got her phone number and address again (FYI … this is never really explained as to why she hides from her mother, why she feels like her mother finding her may necessitate moving again, especially since she still works for her family’s business).

When she leaves her studio shed, Heather receives a phone call from a physician asking about lizards. He was given her name and number by a vet that knows she rescues and rehabilitates reptiles. Based upon his questions, she is concerned that whomever he is calling about could have a deadly Komodo Dragon and decides that she needs to check it out personally before going to her parents’ house.

The next day, Heather arrives at the address and no one answers her knock. The door is unlocked, she heard some moans and smelled something absolutely divine. She decides to enter and finds a man hooked up to all kinds of wires. She is drawn to him and cannot resist touching him … He says something foreign. She doesn’t know what it means, but commits it to memory. She hears someone come in and decides to leave before she is found.

Heather attends family dinner and learns some life changing information. She is upset and winds up starting a fire while having a nightmare later that night. When she becomes aware of her actions, she is still at the scene of the fire and notices that she has placed all of her gold jewelry on the ground towards the fire. Heather can hear the fire trucks and knows that she needs to get away, so she scoops up the jewelry and flees.

Graeme wakes up from a dream. He smelled the most wonderful scent ever and could have sworn a female touched him. Whether a dream or not, it brought him back and he feels better than he has in hundreds of years. He questions the doctor about who it could have been, but Rembrandt has no idea what he is talking about. Since he has fully recovered he reports to the police station, where he is asked to join the Serenity SKTF, the task force set up to kill Khain. Before he answers, he smells that same scent …

The guilt about the fire is too much, so she goes to the police station to report that she started the fire. When she arrived, she is recognized and arrested by two officers. Then before she can understand what is happening or why, the man she seen in the coma has apparently recovered and is holding the two officers by the neck and roaring …

Oh my gosh what a great read. This book was better than the first book of this series. What made this book different; a Deagen not dragon 🐉. He's said he's a hybrid of both dragon and human forms. When he ejaculates as a man, its molten. "I'll kill you" speaking to Heather. The writing and attention to detail is amazing. You see every character and scene perfectly in your mind. I'm could visualize everything. Yes, Graeme is a dragen, which made this book off the charts.

Graeme is a dragen shifter. He was hurt in book one, saving Ella from the demon Khain. Graeme is hurt and recovering but the doc can't help. The doc calls around looking for a specialist that specializes in reptiles 🦎, and he gets Heather. Graeme is nine hundred years old and he thinks he's the last of his kind. While he's in a coma, he just gives up on life until Heather comes and touches his hand; which gives him a reason to live. Heather Herrin is dealing with health insurance issues. The doctors says she needs surgery to take out her uterus because it will someday cause Cancer. He wanted her to schedule surgery right away but she leaves without scheduling surgery past the receptionist desk. I'll really glad she didn't as you will see closer to the end of the book 📚. I absolutely loved every the relationship between Graeme and Heather. The were totally made for each other. Heather can't be burned; she has so perfect for Graeme. Graeme works through his fear of taking a mate and Heather shows him that she'll always be there for him if he thinks he deserve it or not. They have to work with the other shifters to save the world from the Demon Khain. I love how everything is tying together. They make the best couple and I'm totally addicted to this series.

Heather:
Heather read it again, then again, realizing once and for all what she’d been fearing for months now. She was completely batshit crazy. They should cart her off to the funny farm, the booby hatch, the loony bin. She’d have her own monogrammed straightjacket and make friends with the other firebugs. They’d form a clique and shut out anyone who didn’t love to burn, like high school all over again. Her mother would visit and wring a handkerchief in her hands while crying the entire time. Maybe she would wear a veil and cry out things like, “Heather, how could you?”

Even with all the talk of the demon and the danger to humans and this epic, ages-old fight, still, all she could care about was her dragon and how he felt about her and if he ever would make love to her. Molten semen. Those had been his exact words. Talk about a hot date! Her mind spun over the fact, not able to let it go. Was she really willing to try to have sex with a man─ not a man, a dragen─ who could burn her from the inside out? But did she believe that? It made perfect sense that, if she had been created for him, if they were meant to be together on some cosmic level that resonated so strongly inside her she almost had to believe it, then she could handle the lava jizz. She laughed to herself. Lava jizz. Immaculate ejaculate. Boiling hot man chowder with a side of hot sauce. Man Chili. Spicy salty surprise. She giggled hard and had to curl her fingers around the base of his wings to keep from sliding to the left.

I loved how we got more of Ally and Trevor. They don't know how many pups they're going to have but they are hilarious throughout this book 📚:
Trevor pushed open the door and entered the office, holding Ella’s hand. Ella got just an impression of the exact opposite of Crew’s place, a neat and tidy space with computers lined along one wall and a large weight rack on the opposite wall, with a mural of the forest painted behind it. Then she saw Jaggar and she gasped. He paced in the middle of the room, an electronic tablet in hand, not looking at them. He was completely naked. “Jaggar! Get some clothes on!” Trevor roared, backing up into the hall and fumbling with the door, trying to pull it closed, dropping Ella’s hand to do it. Ella covered her mouth and tried not to giggle, looking at the ground.

Trevor finally got the door closed and turned to her. “Fuck, I forgot he did that.” Ella couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across her face. “Did what? I didn’t see anything.” Trevor shook his head. “Walked around naked. He says it helps him think. The first time I caught him in a debriefing naked, sitting in a leather chair with one leg thrown over the arm, I lost it.” Ella couldn’t help the giggles then. They streamed out of her in a liquid rush. “Where does he keep his gun?” Trevor grinned. “I’m trying to save the world with a bunch of misfits working for me,” he muttered, but Ella thought she heard affection in his voice. He faced Ella. “I shoulda told you about him, anyway. He’s our code-breaker, and, ah, did you see his face?” (

I can imagine that Reptiles and Dragons are not attractive to a lot of women, I on the other hand do like them. I don't keep any myself but love seeing them in nature parks and learning about them on nature programs. Imagining you are the last living Dragen I can understand Graham's reluctance to find or complete his mating, knowing the biology and what is most likely to happen would do that. However! he is forgetting that these True Mates are biologically especially for their one and only, as such no harm shall come from mating them. This story takes us across the world and into another dimension, yes it can get a little confusing with time difference and what's going on with the different types of Shiften. Crane as well can be a bit hard to understand sometimes, and he does play a part in this story before going onto his own in the next book. I didn't like the spiders or the web, I would rather be in a room full of snakes, so that did creep me out a bit. I loved Heather, nothing seemed to phase her in fact she was so happy to be confronted by a real life Dragon(Dragen). Graham was so unhappy and scared, but such an alpha. Even while trying to push her away he is growling if any of the others even look at her, this had me chuckling. I love the imagination of the author that has gone into this series, it is like adult fairy tales. It is written in such a descriptive way it brings these characters to life, the smells and scenery you can picture in your mind as you are reading. When Heather was trying to make her glass dragon I so wanted her to succeed, I wanted one myself it sounded so awesome. I am loving these stories so much I go straight into the next book, I cant wait to start. I feel you do need to read all of them and in sequence to get the full benefit, otherwise some things wont make sense. As to the names, language and terms used, most are listed at the front of the book, others explained in the story itself so I cant understand why some readers would not like the books because of not understanding them, which is something I noted in some reviews. If you like paranormal that takes it to the limits and has an edgy story that to some degree continues throughout then I recommend this, the mix of real with fantasy and beyond is astounding. It is like being a kid again and falling in love with reading all over again.

I have to say this lady is such a remarkable writer, this is my second book from her, I got news for you I am totally sold on this series. Here I thought Book 1 was fantastic, well Book 2 is phenomenal. Talk about an Adventure shazam, here you go read this extraordinary series.

                 Things You Should Know

Khain - aka: Divided Demon, the Great Destroyer, and the Matchitehew. Pravus is Khain’s Realm (home).

KSRT - Kilo Special Response Team,

Citlali are the spiritual and judicial leaders of the shiften.

Ruhi speaking telepathically

Ula – earth, in the current dimension and time. The home of the shiften

Heather Herrin loves reptiles, rescue and healing them to release them back into the wild. Well except Falcon he  was abused so badly he couldn't be released so he was her baby. Heather loves to work with fire blowing glass she's been working on her last project hoping that today was the day it came out but no it broke. Receiving a call from a doctor about a dragon requesting information on a big dragon that's unresponsive and has green blood scared her, asking him questions he hung up. Worried for the life of the dragon she contacted her brother who is a computer genius and got the address for the doctor. Going to see his dragon only to realize later that this was going to be a beginning for something new for her.
Graeme Kynock is nine hundred and thirty-six years old and the last dragen he who was created by Rhen because she was fighting Khain, he was burning villages in the 30th century B.C. The Dragens drove him back into the Pravus. Graeme would never have a mate, if he was ever to, he would set her on fire. That being said he wished to end his life. Slowly he started to change his mind.
A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.!

Fantastic! Takes the Reader to Another World.

This novel is a read that I very seldom find. OTM #2 is very well written. There are no misspellings, grammatical errors or half-finished sentences to annoy the reader and interrupt what should be pleasure from the author’s writing. Ladew’s easy descriptions of time and place felt natural and drew me into the novel. Her characters felt like real people, ones that I would appreciate knowing. The wolves Troy and Trent, and their devotion to brother Trevor and the other wolf shifters is as heart-warming as their, especially Troy’s, sense of humor is hilarious. I look forward to reading their books.
I immediately took to female protagonist Heather. Her problems of feeling self-worth and belonging are easily felt and not far-fetched. Her love of strays and especially her reptiles is heart-warming. I was skeptical of dragon shifters being well-written because this is fantasy big-time. The author needs to develop dragon as well as shifter sensibilities. However, Ladew nailed both big-time with Graeme. She has developed both a multifaceted man as well as a centuries-old dragon whose personality and consciousness continue to develop. He comes across as a sympathetic curmudgeon who is working on being up-to-date. Heather and Graeme’s story is engrossing and yes, fantastic fantasy!
Ella’s and Trevor’s story found in OTM #1 continues to evolve as a delightful undercurrent in OMT #2. I am looking forward to Ella’s and Trevor’s family addition.
I found Ladew’s construction of another vocabulary to describe shifters and their world very distracting. Every novel needs an antagonist and “Khain” is it for this series. I had a hard time grappling with Khain and his home Pravus. I read and reread descriptions, but could not come to picturing or coming to terms with this fantasy bad guy. I can not even mentally pronounce most of the words describing this other netherworld.
Readers looking to escape to fantasy worlds should investigate the “One True Mate” series. Ladew leaves no hard-core cliff-hangers. However, there are tiny hints of things to come - little clues - which I find delightful.

Graeme and Heather

This was an okay read. 😐It held my attention at times and completely bored me at others. 😅 It wasn’t a bad story at all, but it was completely forgettable despite having a dragon with molten lava jizz.

Graeme is said dragon. He’s a total daddy vibe despite being a virgin. 👀 Mostly because he’s got the whole lava sperm thing going on. 🌋🌋And Heather is just finding herself. She’s a reptile enthusiast and unwilling pyromaniac. 🔥🔥🔥She’s also drawn to Graeme, and like gold too.

Graeme does the whole “push her away” thing and says he feels guilty for it throughout but not enough to actually console her or stop being a scaredy cat. 🙄And Heather rarely has a backbone. 😬😬She doesn’t make him grovel. 😡There’s also no spice scenes until over 86% of the way through. And the scene is hecka basic too 🤷🏻‍♀️

There were elements I enjoyed though. Like the fact that Graeme shifted quite a bit in the book. 🐉🐉And he could make himself as tiny as a bug. I also liked that it was a quick read. Nothing is too drawn out. But Heather as a person is lost throughout it despite her having actual hobbies and joys 🫠 Graeme doesn’t really have a personality outside of being a depressed dragon. Their connection was also meh.

Things I liked:
Dragon

There’s a lot of references to future couples

Things I didn’t like:
There are soooo many perspectives and they weave together in a REALLY weird way. 🫠
There is a subplot but it’s barely there. You don’t get to see the baddie much. And the damage he does is only referenced.😐
The first spicy scene isn’t even with the main characters. It’s with the main folks from the first book
Graeme being a total wuss and not at all very dominate despite being possessive

It was an okay read. Nothing offensive but also not much meat. I won’t do another read through but it did spike my interest in dragon romances again!

It was a little messier than the first book.

At first the author begins explaining the story from where she left off with the previous book from Trevor and Ella's pov, and then forgets them and focuses on Graeme (I don't remember how to pronounce his name because it was only said once, in the previous book ) and Heather.
From time to time we change pov with other characters and it is as if they are trying to explain many branches of the story at the same time from different points of view (The story with Khain, the continuation of Ella and Trevor and the new story of Graeme and Heather ), as if the second book did not have a specific plot. Luckily, she quickly decides to follow the story of our dragon.

Both main characters are likeable and have good chemistry, but there are too many things that are simply overlooked. Heather steals from her mother and no one says anything, she starts a fire and no one care about her and I still don't understand why she is half dragon if she came from the same father as the others. Why does she have wings? Why does it make fire? One True Mates are supposed to be able to choose whoever they want, but with this book it is very clear that it is not a matter of choosing because for some reason they are already preselected.

It's not something that bothers me too much because almost all the Soulmates books are like that, but it bothers me that a writer explains some rules at the beginning of the story and by the second book she has already gotten bored of them and leaves them aside.

Even after all this, it's a good book. It gives us the dragon love story and it is exciting to read about them. I don't know if I would have needed 100 more pages so that the author could have explained everything she wanted calmly or if she needed a little more organization at the beginning, but overall, the book is very enjoyable.

>Book review – Dragon’s Heat

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the One True Mate series and ends with an HEA for the couple, but the story line continues. Graeme is the last of the dragens. He holds a lot of guilt and loneliness within himself. Graeme’s story begins with him recovering from the end of his adventure in book 1. Heather is a person with a weird ability to cause fires. She has a bit of a backstory, but not enough is really explained. When she finds out her dad is not her true dad, no one is presented as an alternate. No backstory is presented as to how a dragon is being raised by a normal human family.

>As soon as Graeme and Heather find each other they realize they are fated mates. Graeme, however, doesn’t feel worthy of having a mate, nor does he think Heather is a dragon. Apparently, mating with a human is fatal for the human. Alongside their romance is the threat from the evil demon. The whole spider scene is so gross. Characters from previous books are all back and the alpha-ness of the men, especially Graeme is cool to see.

>Once Graeme’s backstory is told, I was really rooting for his HEA. This book moves quickly, with the story being told from a lot of different points of view. There are a lot of scenes of banter making for some humorous sections among the romantic suspense. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the story 4 stars. I loved the book, but wanted a little more explanation regarding Heather’s beginnings.

Awesome series for a new writer

I have to confess, I will just about anything as long as it is a wonderful creation. This is a wondrous series. I read the first book yesterday and was in such a hurry to read the second, that I forgot to leave a review. Sorry Ms. Lisa my bad.

My compliments to Lisa Ladew for having such a wild imagination and the guts to put her work out to us. Some people you can't please if you hung them with a new rope! Ignore the ignorant I say.

There were a few errors in the writing and grammar. But not enough to make me roll my eyes or put the book down. As a new writer it was perfect imperfection.

I won't give any spoilers away. All I can say is I am headed to book three! Before I started this series, I put down three book's because they were so........ Run of the mill. I Highly recommend this series to everyone. You must start at book one or forget it. You will be lost. The reading is not creepy or corny. But highly imaginative and intelligent. I smiled when Ms. Lisa used the terms neurons and synapses correctly. She either has a medical background or is good at research. Either way go Lisa and don't stop. We have hundreds of mates to hook up! 💜

The couple: Graeme and Heather

Romance trope: shifter
Series: One True Mate
Length: 281 pages

Plot: Graeme is the last Dragen shifter and has no hope of a One True Mate. But he meets Heather, who seems to like him, and then he discovers that she has several things that make her special. She might be the one. Heather certainly thinks so, even if she doesn't want to pursue Graeme if he doesn't want her. There's danger coming though, and they'll both need to be at full strength, ready to fight.

Commentary: This was Graeme and Heather's story, although there was a lot about the other shiften and mates. It made it seem more of an ensemble cast rather than a romance at times. The paranormal aspect overshadows the romance at times as well. The time travel didn't exactly make sense to me, but perhaps it will mesh more clearly later in the series, as it seems this series was not meant at all to house standalone connected by place and framework, but rather stories that are connected and enmeshed. I do think the author did a good job showing the characters' emotions - I could feel Heather's heartbreak when she thought Graeme didn't want her.

Previous book in the series: Shifter's Sacrifice
Next book in the series: Shifter's Echo

Dragon's Heat-5 ***** read

The second book in the series Dragon's Heat will entice and enthrall you. I couldn't put it down. The writing and attention to detail will amaze you. You will see every character and scene perfectly in you mind. Lisa Ladew is a talented writer and should not be missed. As the primary male character Graeme is a very old dragon and he thinks the last of his kind on earth. As he is over 900 years old he is ready to die until his one true mate Heather touches his hand and gives him a reason to live.

The underworld is ready to take over and destroy the world as we know it. Heather and Graeme maybe the only ones who can help save it. As Graeme works through his fear of taking a mate and Heather shows him that she will always be there for him they must also work with the only other shifter who can help save the world. This book is compelling and you will be unwilling to put it down.
The series will draw you in and keep you. I highly recommend that you read anything by this author you will not be disappointed.

Graeme and Heather what a 🔥couple

Graeme is a dragen, or dragon shifter. Heather is a OTM, a human/👼. Heather met Graeme in the doctors office giving up on life as the last dragen. That is until Heather went into the doctors office and held his hand, Graeme thought he was dreaming, but Heather felt the pull also.

Heather had recently started a fire and couldn't be burnt by it. So she went to the police department and confessed where she met Graeme again and he couldn't believe the mating dance had started. He thought he was going to die without ever finding a one true mate, because his fire would kill anyone he had sex with. But Heather would make him see that she could not be harmed by the fire. When he finally realized it was true, they had their mating ceremony..However, what would they do if she got pregnant? Graeme could not believe how lucky he was, and that he could finally think about having a baby wormling (dragen baby). This is a great story. Read up my dragon friends.

After reading the first one I was super excited to read this one! I haven't read many dragon shifters so I was very interested in seeing what this author could do! I already feel for Graeme and his heroic nature in the first book.

Graeme was haunted by his past but so genuine that you can't help but love him! Watching him fight the mating pull had me laughing out lid many times.

Heather has such a fascination with reptiles/Lizards! I love how she wanted to care for them and do the right thing! She was spunky, and quick witted.

I loved seeing all the characters from the first book! This family/pack/unit of shifters was fun and so dedicated to each other!

This story is about a dragon so riddled with self hate that he can't see the future. The main story line continues as we learn more about what the bad guy is willing to do.

Overall, I loved it. There's a message underneath the humor, and steam, and I am left wanting more and more! The author has made me fall fast for this set of characters and I can't wait to see some of my favorites get books on the future! 4.5 stars #2OCCJD #2OCCJD

Book 2 Graeme the Dragen and Heather

This is book 2 in the series. Please read book 1 sine the story continues and you meet the characters in book 1. Each book is about the characters finding their one true mates and filling a prophecy. All of the cops in the town are shifters.
Overview. Graeme is a Dragen shifter. He was hurt in book 1 saving Ella from a demon. With Graeme down, the shifters doc can't help him. He calls around looking for someone whom specializes in reptiles. He call Heather. Heather has had some major health issues over the years. She loves fire and can't be burned and her body has not developed like normal women. But when she touches Graeme when he is in him coma, he wakes up and she starts acting weird. Graeme fights with his true mate heather. He feels that he doesn't deserve her for his past actions. Heather only wants him. The true mate will prevail but this also means the prophet is true.

Graeme has finally gotten his story. I had a couple of issues with this story and his name is Graeme!!!! He just seemed to just have a whole bunch of reasons why he must not take a mate. I thought they were all trash excuses. Like I know you have been living for over 900 years but come on. You wanting to die and then pushing your mate away, who I do believe is a saint, is just horrid.

Heather was just an amazing heroine she knew what she wanted and that was Graeme. In the beginning of the book I really felt that Heather would be better off with another mate. Graeme just strung Heather alone for most of the book. But then realized that she is the only one that he will ever love and that would die without her.

It sounds like I hated this book but in reality I liked it. I loved all the side characters and I love Mac. There is something about him that makes me want to tell him all my secrets because I know he will have my best interests in mind.
