Melodies of Love is such a beautiful read. I first read it sometime last year on Bambooks, and rereading it now reminded me exactly why I loved it so much.

This book has everything: second chance romance, superstar love, it’s always been you, a virgin FMC, secret relationship, and so much more.

The story follows Adaora and Ikenna, who reconnect after 12 years (even though this reunion was orchestrated by Ikenna) and quickly realize that the spark between them is still very much alive.

One thing that really stood out to me was how the author wrote Adaora’s insecurities. They felt so real and relatable. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to love a superstar while dealing with grabby fans, meddling blogs, and constant public scrutiny.

I loved how deeply Ikenna loved Adaora—both 12 years ago and in the present. Though, I still believe he should have fought harder for her back then.

And can we talk about Adaora’s elder brothers? If they’re not overprotective, are they even older brothers? I absolutely loved how Amaka wrote them.

Amaka is officially the queen of second-chance romance in my book. She writes them with so much depth and emotion.

This is a 4.5-star read, and I recommend it with my full chest.

Thank you, Amaka, for gifting me this copy. 💛

Heartwarming Romance!!!

What a truly sweet read. It was a story of an innocent love blossoming into something more matured, intense and heartwarming. I enjoyed the storyline way too much. And Adaora's protective brothers made the story so real and rich. And the emotional connection between Ikenna and Adaora scaled every painful hurdle. A lovely story. I strongly recommend.

Beautifully written. I genuinely love reading books where one of the MCs is a Nigerian celebrity. It makes the story feel more immersive, like I’m getting a little glimpse into their world.

I also really love how AA writes her FMCs. There’s always so much depth and intentionality in them. While I wasn’t a fan of the third-act breakup trope, and I wish Ada had found out about what her brothers did to Ike, the story itself was well written, cohesive, and thoughtfully structured.

I love that Ikenna and Adaora's story is set in Lagos, Nigeria. The setting, food, and culture is a welcome addition to the romance. Adaora is still angry with Ikenna after he broke her heart 12 years ago. But Ikenna, now the famous music star, Aristar, needs to explain how Adaora's own family ran him off and the reason why. Awesome story!

Just finished devouring "Melodies of Love" by Amaka Azie, and let me tell you, it was the perfect escape I needed after the whirlwind of a week I had. Every evening, I dived into this book, letting the story wash away the day's stress.

Adaora and Ikenna's love story completely stole my heart. It was pure sweetness, a refreshing escape from the usual drama-filled romances. Even though Ikenna is a renowned highlife musician, their love story unfolded with surprising ease.

However, a small part of me did cringe when I learned they dated when Adaora was just 16 and Ikenna in his early twenties. Thankfully, things never went too far, and fate brought them back together twelve years later.

Adaora's protective brothers actually orchestrated their initial separation. Young and in love, Adaora was ready to throw away her chance at studying abroad to be with Ikenna. The breakup, while heartbreaking, ended up being a turning point for both of them. Adaora pursued her education and became a successful financial guru, and Ikenna channeled his focus into his music, ultimately becoming a super star, and lifted his family out of poverty.

Now, let's talk about my least favorite character: Ndidi, Ikenna's long-term perosnal assistant. Let's just say, I'm not a fan of people who try to sabotage their ex's happiness, especially after an amicable breakup. Ndidi took it way too far, not only embezzling money from Ikenna for years but also orchestrating a social media scandal that painted him as a cheater, nearly destroying his relationship with Adaora. Thankfully, Adaora and Ikenna were able to find their way back to each other and got their happily ever after.

This story is a beautiful reminder that true love finds its way back, no matter the obstacles. If you are looking for a story to rekindle your faith in love, grab a copy of "Melodies of Love" by Amaka Azie.

Thank you, Amaka Azie, for this heartwarming tale. I enjoyed it! ❤️😍

From the plot to the characters to the writing, everything about this book was so gripping. I found myself completely absorbed while reading it, like I didn’t even want to put it down.

This is a beautifully written second chance romance. I enjoyed the plot and the characters are deep and very entertaining.

One thing that stood out to me was how real and relatable Adaora’s character felt. Her traumas and difficulties dealing with Ikenna’s fame it felt very raw. I liked the chemistry between Ikenna and Adaora and how he fought hard to make himself worthy.

The only part that didn’t sit well with me was the age gap between teenage Adaora and Ikenna, who was in his early twenties — it made me a bit uncomfortable.

That aside, I loved the storyline and highly recommend reading this book.

A sweet, music-filled second-chance romance between Adaora, the daughter of a wealthy family, and Ikenna, the son of her father’s driver and her teenage maths tutor. They fell in love at sixteen, were torn apart by family interference, and meet again twelve years later — she’s on his finance team, he’s now a famous artist.

The chemistry? Still there. The drama? Even more so. Loving Ikenna means dealing with gossip, scandals, and the women in his orbit (some with history). Adaora’s brothers say he’s no good, but they can’t deny he’s her rainbow and sunshine.

Special mention to Ndidi the PA — my radar was up from Ada’s first visit to Ikenna’s office. Rude, unprofessional, and blurring every possible line between business and pleasure.
One of those books that had me smiling sheepishly while flipping pages. Heart, humour, family tension, and a reminder that love can survive time and distance.

This book is such a beautiful and fast paced story, very straight to the point.

This book follows the story of Ikenna and Adaora, childhood sweethearts whose love got torn apart by class differences and family pressures, and with Ikenna coming from a poor background, he had to walk away from Adaora.

Until years later, when fate brings them back together. Their reunion was electrifying, with more stronger feelings and unfinished business of the hearts.

The love between them was so beautiful, just like they had never really left each other. It was so mature and deeply emotional.

I loved the characters development in this book a lot. Ikenna from a poor and struggling artist to a talented and successful man who now knows what he wants and fears no one. Adaora journey from a naive and soft girl to a more mature and beautiful woman, with an incredible sense and strength.

Amaka Azie explored themes like family ties, healing, ambition, knowing your worth, forgiveness, class differences, and family interference.

I loved how Ikenna always tries to prove himself worthy of Adaora, it was giving rich girl - poor boy kinda love.

I was really mad at Adaora’s brothers, they were just so overly protective of her and took rash decisions behind her back, it pissed me off. But, on another hand, I got to understand the reason why they always wanted to protect Adaora, it was the only way the understood love and care.

This was such an heartfelt story, a second chance romance that blended music and emotions together.

This will not be the first time I am saying this and it definitely will not be the last.
Amaka Azie is the queen of second-chance romance.
If you doubt it, believe whatever helps you sleep at night 🥱
The story follows Adaora and Ikenna, who fell deeply in love in their younger years but were forced apart by class differences and family pressure.
||“He was, after all, just a driver’s son, and she, Adaora, was Chief Obi’s only daughter and his treasure.”||
And honestly, what are brothers for if not to be overprotective, especially when you are the only Ada of the house?
After twelve years, fate brings them back together, this time orchestrated by the superstar himself, Ikenna. What they discover is that the love never really died. That “it has always been you” feeling was still very much alive.
One thing I truly loved was how the author wrote Adaora’s insecurities. The fear of heartbreak, the reality of dating a superstar, dealing with paparazzi, grabby fans, and the constant pressure that comes with it all felt very real. Because honestly, if it were me, I am not sure I would cope either 😂
That said, I really wish Ada baby knew what her brothers did to Ikenna all those years ago.
And for Ndidi… may the good Lord cleanse your heart and soul, because you caused unnecessary problems in a garden that was just starting to bloom 🌚
Overall, this was a beautifully written, heartwarming second-chance romance that reminded me why I enjoy this trope so much.
I recommend it with my full chest 🤭

ARC REVIEW OF MELODIES OF LOVE by Amaka Azie 💕

I really enjoyed this book. One of my favorite things about it was the glimpse into the life of a musician and how love is managed under the constant glare of the spotlight. The author did a great job showing the pressure, scrutiny, and chaos that come with fame, and how it affects relationships.

I was genuinely upset about the setup that Ada fell for, especially because she didn’t even give Ikenna the benefit of the doubt. Yes, his reputation wasn’t the best, but it was frustrating to see her believe the worst so quickly instead of hearing him out. On the other hand, Ikenna himself was a little too relaxed for my liking. The moment those pictures leaked, he should have been actively searching for the source and trying to prove his innocence. Watching him sit back while everything spiraled made me want to shake him.

Still, despite those moments, the story kept me hooked. Their chemistry, the emotional tension, and the second-chance arc were all beautifully written. All in all, I really enjoyed the book and the journey these characters had to take to find their way back to each other. This was a solid five star read for me.

If you love second chance romance, this is definitely for you ❤️

Y’all, leave it or not, AA remains the Queen of Second Chance Romance!! MOL proves this once again!!!
MOL follows the story of Adaora, the only daughter of a wealthy Chief, with two solid brothers, and Ikenna, a driver’s son . These two fell in love in their teenage year(Ikenna has always been older than Adaora, even when they were teenagers) their love story got shortened due to family pressure, age and class difference.

What to expect:
🎈Second chance Romance
🎈Private relationship
🎈Rekindled love
🎈Overly protective brothers

Of course, AA makes sure she explores emotions with a lot more like, music and culture, also in a beautiful way. I also love how Adaora was portrayed as a fragile yet strong lover girl, I mean with all the what ifs, what nots, the paparazzi, the fear of losing love the second time, the blogs issues.. I mean all these was heavy, but she handled it well. MOL is a beautiful second chance romance that will make you fall in love with that trope over and over again🤭. AA has the power to do that, honestly!

PS: I wish I had an elder brother like Chuma😩 all these boys with no sense go too collect😂🤭

This book stressed me, healed me, annoyed me, and still made me believe in love again. It truly lived up to its title — starting over again in every sense of the word.

From Onome losing her home because she chose love, to meeting Nnamdi, to the emotional weight of raising a sickle cell child, this story was raw and deeply emotional. It went beyond romance and explored real-life struggles, societal stigma, betrayal, family wounds, and the silent sacrifices that come with love and parenthood.

I really appreciated how the book handled sensitive themes like divorced stigmatization and the draining reality of raising a child with a chronic illness. It felt honest, intense, and realistic.

Onome and Nnamdi’s story was truly one for the books. Despite the misunderstandings, betrayals, and interference from others, they still found their way back to each other. Their journey wasn’t perfect, but it was emotional, meaningful, and full of growth.

Overall, this was a powerful story about love, pain, healing, and starting over even when life gets messy.

Melodies of Love is a second-chance romance about two former lovers who are brought back into each other’s orbit years after heartbreak, forcing them to confront the past they never truly moved on from.

One of the most interesting parts of this book was how the author explored the music industry. We get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of life around music videos, fandoms, and the personal relationships that exist outside the public eye, which added an engaging layer to the story.
The characters also worked really well for me. The FMC felt strong and grounded, and I especially enjoyed the presence of her protective brothers. I also liked that the MMC was very clear about his intentions from the beginning, he knew what he wanted and wasn’t afraid to pursue it.

The pacing flowed smoothly for me, and overall the book left me feeling very satisfied by the end.

I would definitely recommend it to readers who enjoy second-chance romances with strong characters and a peek into the world of music and fame.

3.5 Stars! Another romantic slam dunk from Amaka Azie. This time in what I think might have been her first book, she tells the story of a multi-platinum African artist (musician) and an investment banker with whom he had a past.

Yes there is a bit of a creeptastic (though realistic) vibe with the heroine’s age the start in the first phase of their love story but I was otherwise one hundred percent here for the page-turning execution of this African romantic tale. My favourite thing about this author is that her stories are contemporary African but the romance is universal. Loved this even though I removed stars for some creepiness in the early Romance.

"He was, after all, just a driver’s son, and she, Adaora, was Chief Obi’s only daughter and his treasure."

This is a story of young love rekindled later in the years. Adaora, our FMC, met Ikenna MMC, when she was 16 and he was hired to tutor her in Maths. Hearts met and young love happened. But Adaora's brothers did not approve and the young love could not withstand. Years later, Ikenna is a renowned musician and his heart still cries for the one who got away. This is a story of second chances, so innocent, sweet and so well written.

My first encounter with the author and I am definitely going to explore more of Amaka's books.

I enjoyed reading it, I just had an issue with their romance/relationship.
I don’t like how Ikenna was in university while Ada was just 16. And when he agreed to wait till she was 17 before they became more intimate just didn’t sit well with me. It felt like grooming.
Again I am tired of Nigerian purity culture. The man is a man whore while the lady is an innocent untouched lady. I genuinely dislike that “trope”.
I love how Chuma, Ada’s big brother addressed it and told Ikenna to back off from his teenage sister.
I can’t wait to read Chuma’s story to understand him better. From the two books, I’ll say he’s my favorite character.

This second chance romance will hold you spellbound. Set between Enugu and Lagos states, Nigeria, it captures that raw transition from young, innocent sweet love to a devastating heartbreak, through years of silent longing, to an intense, ride or die 'I can feel your soul' kind of love.

But just when Adaora and Ikenna find their way back to each other, insecurities creep in and a scorned third party threatens everything they've rebuilt. The emotional depth is real, the stakes are high, and you'll be turning pages desperate to know if they can weather this humongous storm.

Will they get their happily ever after? Read this first book of The Obis Siblings Trilogy to find out.

Melodies of Love by Amaka Azie was a sweet and emotional read for me. I really enjoyed the second chance romance in this book and the way the story explored love, heartbreak, and reconnecting with someone from the past.

What I liked most was the emotional depth between the characters. Their story felt soft, tender, and personal, and that made it easy for me to stay invested. I also liked that the romance was not just about attraction, but about timing, healing, and unresolved feelings.

Overall, this was a heartwarming romance that will appeal to readers who enjoy second chance love stories with emotion and depth. It was an enjoyable read for me.

An absolutely heart warming read. Amaka’s writing style is best described as lyrical! Very sweet and conversational helping to draw the reader in and make sense of the Characters. The characters in this book are not the most stressful 😂 which is a plus!!! Needless to say that I too had a crush on Ikenna 😂 such a charming man! Adaora is that girl Financially! I love a female Character who is also a professional!!! All in all, it’s a sweet read! A perfect Valentine’s Day read ☺️

A lovely second chance romance. Ikenna has gone from rags to riches, but has maintained his humility – this was a very appealing characteristic for him. Yet with all that he has accomplished he has not been able to get over his first love. I sigh with the sweetness of it. The sparks still fly between Adaora and Ikenna as their romantic adventure together continues after years of being apart.

Real Love Never Dies

I'm glad that Ikenna and Adaora had the opportunity to reconnect and the love was still there from twelve years prior without her brothers putting up a roadblock like they did before and that she had her dad's, Chief Ofor, blessing.

A Fuji player, teenage love rekindled, and a romance that’s anything but ordinary. Ikenna (Aristar) and Adaora’s story is messy, real, and full of heart.
‎What I loved most? How Amaka Azie blends music, culture, and emotions seamlessly. Ikenna’s life as a Fuji star adds a vibrant, fresh layer, while the teenage love rekindling brings nostalgia, tension, and sweet moments that will have you rooting for them nonstop.
‎This isn’t just a romance. it’s about growth, second chances, and the magic of timing. Heartfelt, steamy, and utterly captivating. I was hooked until the very last note!
