Coop's case takes an unexpected twist when he discovers the dead body of his latest client.
A newcomer to Nashville with a troublesome problem requests an emergency meeting with private detective Cooper “Coop” Harrington. When she fails to keep her appointment, Coop and Annabelle, his faithful friend and assistant, become worried and go in search of their new client. Their hopes for a quiet Sunday are dashed when they discover her dead body.
Coop and Annabelle find themselves immersed in the investigation, uncovering tenuous links to a handful of suspects. With the help of his loyal golden retriever, Gus, and meddling but well-meaning Aunt Camille, Coop works to untangle the web of connections to expose the motive and identity of the killer before anyone else is murdered.

Much better than the first one! I'm finally starting to feel invested in the characters a bit. We have fewer distracting details and more necessary ones. I'm pleased enough that I'm off to purchase the third book. Though I had a bit of an issue with the first one, this second one brings the series status up to average cozy mystery.
Wow! This series keep going better and better! It will keep you on the edge of yor seat guessing and guessing until the end. A really good mystery! Action packed with twists and turns. I'm more than just invested in all those great and fun characters, I want to read more about Coop's investigations, get to know more of his and his friends' lives.
"Before you give me your best shot, I recommend you read my return policy."
The Cooper Harrington detective series continues with this book, which is even better than the previous. The reader gets a better understanding of who Cooper is.
Coop becomes concerned that something is amiss when Callie is very late for an appointment. Coop and Annabelle go to Callie's home to check on her. When she is found murdered, they find themselves navigating a maze of deceptions, cover-ups, and lies in an attempt to find a killer. It's complex because there are numerous suspects and no clean motive for her murder.
This mystery is the kind that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I found it impossible to put it down, and the mystery—especially the motive—was challenging to unravel. I am enjoying getting to know all the regular characters in the book. Even though, each book is a separate mystery and can be read out of order, I highly recommend reading them in order so you can get to know the characters. I love learning more about Cooper and what makes him tick. Cooper is a superb private investigator who is determined to see the case through to its conclusion. To solve crimes, Coop collaborates closely with the local police detective.
This book will keep the reader guessing all the way to very end. I can't wait to read book #3.
A really absorbing mystery. A young woman, Callie, out of law school manages to mess up her life and career and moves to another town where she soon finds herself mired in a different sticky mess. So she asks a private detective, Coop Harrington, for an emergency meeting, then fails to show up. This worries Coop since she sounded scared. The story follows Callie's movements and we begin to see how she got into such a serious mess, although SHE hasn't figured that out yet. Then just about the time she begins to understand what a danger she is in, she is murdered. At this point, as the reader is seeing what is about to happen to Callie, it comes as a sad shock....didn't see that coming, at least not yet. Poor pitiful Callie didn't have a chance. Now Coop is determined to find out who killed her and why. We then follow Coop through the maze of information as the clues begin to appear. A very good read. I'm planning to read more of this series.
When I write a review I like to give a small synopsis of the story so my review reader knows what the story is about. I can't do it with this book without giving away spoilers, it is that action packed.
The returning characters in this series are great. Annabelle (AB) and Coop would instill confidence in anyone who needs a private investigator. Aunt Camille is the perfect rich Southern Aunt, always looking out for AB and Coop, even Gus the dog.
I love that Ben, the police detective/friend, and the rest of his team are not bumblers, but highly skilled police detectives. The author has written several mysteries within this mystery and keeps the reader interested from page one.
I was so excited to dive into this mystery series that I didn’t realize I was starting in book 2. So I can attest to this being a standalone because I never felt lost, but I will be going back to read book 1 for sure.
This was a fun mystery read. The plot seemed to continually introduce more plausible “killers” and I enjoyed trying to piece together the whodunnit. Since I didn’t read book 1, I enjoyed the cast of characters that I am sure are staples in this series. AB and Coop have such a great friendship and working relationship, and the family moments we get with Camille are quite lovely. Camille is definitely a fun character. Furthermore, Coop’s friendship with Ben provides a nice connection for the PI side of things!
Great mystery and great characters…. A series I look forward to continuing for sure!
I’ve only recently started reading this series by Tammy L. Grace. I LOVe the characters! There’s Coop Harrington a lawyer/PI, his assistant Annabelle (AB), the chief of detectives, Aunt Camille, and Gus the golden retriever! In this book, AB’s close college friend is murdered only a day after getting together with AB. AB is distraught with grief of losing a close friend, Callie. Callie’s folks are well to do and hire Coop to find the murderer. There are other murders which connect to Callie’s murder but the links are not apparent. The book has mystery (who killed who?), easy reading, keeps the reader involved with the plot, and a bit of intrigue. I can’t wait to start #4!
Sins From The Past Haunt The Present This book is the second in a series that would be best enjoyed reading in sequence. Each book is a complete mystery, but the back story and personal interactions give each book more flavor. This is a clean mystery with no foul language, no gore, little violence, and no bedroom scenes. There is much sadness in this book which is to be expected in a murder mystery that takes place at Christmas time. The story moves quickly with just enough twists to keep the reader's interest piqued. I think most readers will guess where the story is going, but just not how it will get there. I am ready to start book three.
Step into a shadowy world where trust is a fragile commodity and every corner holds a concealed truth. This enthralling mystery beckons readers into a meticulously woven narrative, designed for those who revel in unravelling complex enigmas and forging deep connections with multifaceted characters. Brace yourself for an immersive experience where the bonds of unwavering loyalty are tested by fire, and unexpected alliances blossom in the face of grave danger, proving to be vital weapons in the relentless hunt for a merciless killer. As the intricate layers of carefully constructed deception are painstakingly peeled away, long-buried secrets will claw their way to the surface, and the tangled threads of hidden motives will be exposed, ultimately revealing the shocking and perhaps devastating truth that lies at the heart of an elaborate web of calculated lies. Prepare to question everything you thought you knew as the past collides with the present in a breathtaking dance of intrigue and suspense.
Three people dead, one is a college friend of AB's, with nothing in common. A man killed on a jogging path, a messenger hit and run, a friend broken neck and a cold case. Ben is going crazy 4 murders, no clues and its almost Christmas. Coop is hired by AB's friend's family to find out what happened. She just moved to Nashville and was straightening out her life. This is very interesting and exciting trying to untangle the clues. Great job. Thank you. Looking forward to the next adventure.
Loved the book! Kept me guessing right to the end! I'm looking forward to the next book. I'm hoping we'll find out about who in the Governor's office is crooked? I'm amazed at and happy to learn that our police have so many ways to track criminals and to see the police being portrayed in a positive way. I love mysteries and trying to put the clues together. I deplore violence, bigotry, and abuse of power and relish seeing the bad guys being taken down!
I read many mystery/ detective novels. While good stories, often I find pages of filler or digressions that do not truly advance the story or plot. But not this book. I was connected to the characters, the plot, and the evolving factual basis for the story line. The character development was masterful. I really cared about the protagonists. Now I need to read the first book to learn how it all began. Looking forward to more books in the series.
What I like best about this series is how the mystery unfolds almost immediately, with absolutely no visible clues for the reader to follow. Besides Coop and AB, my favorite character is Gus. He's such a cool dog. I appreciate the absence of vulgar language and steamy sex scenes. Both are unnecessary in a truly good and well-written story, which these stories are. The book held my attention throughout, and I am ready for the next installment.
AB’s friend is murdered and Coop is hired by her wealthy parents to find who any why. I enjoyed the subtle clues and found myself turning back pages to find what I had overlooked. It beats the heck out of me that Coop and AB are not yet more than platonic co workers and friends but we all know that usually messes up a working relationship. I’m glad these books are on KU and I look forward to the next in series.
AB's best friend from college is in over her head in a mystery and needs AB and Cooper to help her out, but before she can meet with them she is murdered. Coop is hired to find her killers but the lack of clues is driving them nuts. Throw in some side cases and some family drama and you have a first rate whodunit.
I have read the first two Cooper Harrington Detective Novels. I am totally captivated with the characters and the suspense, twists, and edge of my seat stories. Being from Tennessee make these novels even better. I can't wait to start the next Coop and AB's adventures.
Deadly Connection is Tammy Grace’s second book in the Coop Harrington detective series. It had me on the edge of my seat from the first page. I got to spend time with all of the characters I love again. Wow, the twists and turns in this one. This book pulled at my heartstrings more and had fun places as well. I absolutely recommend this book and am looking forward to the next one.
5 stars for Deadly Connection (Cooper Harrington Book 2). Loved this book more than the first. You have to keep reading to get to the end and solve the mystery. Adored the characters of Coop, AB, Aunt Camille and of course the faithful Gus. I'm definitely reading the rest of this series!
As always I love and enjoy Tammy's books. Nothing like a good "Who Dun It" I would love to see Coop and AB become a couple! That would be like icing on the cake!! If you haven't read this series of books it's best to read the books in order, like Tammy suggest.
I really loved this series so far. Tammy says at the end of Deadly Connection that she loves coming up with the characters in this series. She does a great job of this for sure. Can't wait to start the next book in the series and feel encouraged to try her other books.
This series surprised me since not familiar with the author. The books have a certain "southern charm" while the characters are well defined and interesting. The relationship between the characters adds to the plot line. The plots have just enough intrigue to keep you turning the pages. The author does a good job tying up the ends. I am not a fan and binge reading this series.
This book had so much mystery and sadness, but it was such a great book to read love the characters A B And Cool and all their other devices especially his aunt. Looking forward to reading the third book. Love Reading all Tammy's books.
Another mystery solved by Coop & AB. Love the characters, and especially love Gus & Aunt Camille. Coop's t-shirt collection is hilarious! Anyone who loved a good mystery will love these books.
This book was even better than the first. There is great character development and Coop, AB, Ben, and others are very honorable people and diligent investigators. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.
I didn't get a lot of sleep because I didn't want to put this book down. I love reading series because you know the characters. Who can resist a book with a dog in it-not me! I can't wait to read the next two books.
Excellent read by Tammy Grace. Great characters that feel like friends you have known for years, and the case they are working on is really a good one. Lots of great clues that lead to dead ends, and then finally the break they have been waiting for. Kept me reading into the wee hours of the morning!
This kept me intrigued and interested the whole book and I can’t wait to start the next one in this series. Coop Harrington is the best, his love for Gus, AB, and his Aunt Camilla is definitely noticeable!!
I can’t figure out who did it by the 3rd chapter. Coop and AB are oblivious To how important they are to one another. Tammy writes a good story. Love all the characters.
Deadly Connection was just as good as the first book in the series. The main characters are fun and the bad guys interesting. The storyline is believable and the suspense just enough. I particularly liked the sensitivity of Gus!
