Rate this book
PART ONE OF TWO!!! Cliffhanger...
HIM: I'm focused on two things; completing my degree & swimming. Until I meet her. But can she accept that I'm a shapeshifter? A polar bear?
HER: I'm practically a born-again virgin, I'm so focused on my studies. Until I meet him, when he comes to my rescue at a frat party. I feel out of place at the sunny, SoCal university I'm at, a plus-sized, red-headed woman amongst a sea of tall, thin blondes. Is it possible he's attracted to me too?
-----
Ben is Ivy League bound. Focused on his schoolwork and swim-team scholarship, he's ambitious and won't allow anything or anyone, get in the way of his life goals.
Amber is used to being the awkward best friend. Curvy and fair-headed, fair-skinned - she doesn't fit in with most of the students at the sunny California university she attends.
When Ben comes to Amber's rescue, he's not prepared for the strong attraction and draw to the sweet, curvy woman. His bear is all about it, but he has to play it right so he can enjoy their time together without his coach getting on his case.

Cute polar bear shifter featuring Ben and Amber. Both going to College trying to make something of themselves, and make their families proud. Ben is open with Amber about being a shifierce and she takes the news well. Short and sweet, minimal heat, mostly in waking dreams or in the shower solo. They are about to get busy when the author hits us with a cliffhanger, by leaving us hanging as to whether or not the get to the bedroom !! My advanced copy had 2 small editing errors that I'm sure the author will have taken care of prior to release. 4☆'s for a sweet love story, shifter style. I received a gifted copy and am voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review.

SHIFTER: Polar Bear, Part One: BBW Paranormal Romance
Shifter - Polar Bear Book 1
by Emerald Wright
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a great start to awesome series. My love affair with Emerald Wright started with SHIFTER: Grizzly, has continued through each story and will last as long as she picks up a pen. There is a gorgeous Polar Bear and a red hair BBW, OMG what love will do! This storyline will put you on the edge of your seat so that it you will want to read this storyline and with this story you will need a couple of fans as I did, the characters chemistry is combustible. The Polar Bears are scorching hot and the heroines are strong and the end will justify that they will all get their HEA. This story shows how skilled Emerald Wright is at her craft there is nothing she can’t accomplish for her readers. There isn't a emotion she don’t touch, no scene she won’t write, no heart she won’t mend, no love she can’t tap into, no world she can’t make you enter, and no readers she can’t satisfy. They have a amazing flow of words that's fast pace and well written. I love cliffhangers so I really enjoyed each story! I loved this story!!! It was great! I loved the characters.

OMG! What a SHIFTACULAR & magical story!! I ABSO-TALON-LUTELY loved it! This great storyline is filled with sweet & touching, lust-filled, lots humor, family, friendship, romance as well as heartbreak, fear and lots of other great moments that enrich this BEARTASTIC story!I'm such a romantic and this storyline brings it out of me. Once again Emerald Wright, another five star book, but then from you there is nothing else. Every book isn't for everyone so If this is not the kind of book or genre you like to read, skip this book. If you enjoy reading shifter romance with suspense and lots of action this is a great choice for your TBR list. Highly I recommend this book and the series.

If you believe in the world of paranormal romance, the possibilities are endless and fascinating!

I loved reading this book, it is a very addictive novella that will have you turning page after page just to find out what will happen, i voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy of this book.

I really loved this storyline and i can't wait until part 2 comes out. The way it was written was brilliant, Emerald Wright is able to pull your attention and imagination into the world that she has created. One of the things that i really enjoyed was how the chapters changed between the two characters so you got a different point of view, so you can see how they both are feeling and what they are thinking.

I really liked Ben’s character, there is something really wholesome about him. He seems like a perfect gentleman and very kind and aware of people's feeling around him. He has a very passionate nature and cares deeply and i love how he is trying to make a better life her himself and his family. There is something so lovable about Amber, i loved that she was a plus sized girl and she loves herself as this is something i think people in the real world should feel. She is also very passionate and she does what she feels is right, there is a lot about her that tells us just to be who we are inside and to me this is very motivating.

I really really enjoyed this book and it is a must read, especially if you are a fan of shifters!!!

SHIFTER: Polar Bear, Part One: BBW Paranormal Romance (Shifter - Polar Bear Book 1)
By: Emerald Wright
5 out of 5 stars

The story SHIFTER: Polar Bear, Part One: BBW Paranormal Romance (Shifter - Polar Bear Book 1) by Emerald Wright is a paranormal shifter romance. Ben is focused on schoolwork and swimming. That is until he meets Amber. He is not prepared for the strong attraction that both he and his bear have to her. Amber is used to being the awkward best friend. She is curvy and stands out from most of the student in the California university she attends. She knows that she is attracted to Ben and he seems to not be the typical student. How would she react if she found out Ben is a polar bear shifter?

This is a wonderful start to a new series. Both Ben and Amber know they deeply attracted to each other from the first time they meet. The story is sweet and I love that they don’t let preconceived ideas on who they should be or who they should date rule their lives. They know what they want and are working hard to achieve their goals. I can’t wait to read what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

This is the first shifter book I’ve read that involves a polar bear. It's a shifter species that's not included in too many stories. Ben is a member of the swim team at college, which is a fitting sport for him I’d say. He is gorgeous and a gentleman. He has all the girls falling for him, but Ben only has eyes for Amber. Amber is a plus size girl who other girls look down their noses at. This causes her to waiver in her self-esteem at times. Although, between who she is and how Ben treats her, Amber’s moments of low self-esteem don’t last long.

This story is a good introduction to the main characters. I enjoyed it. It is short and only takes a little over an hour to read. Beware, it does end in a cliffhanger (and right when the action between Amber and Ben is about to heat up).

This is a sweet romance between two college students who bond quickly. Ben is a polar bear shifter and on the swim team and dedicated to working hard at school. He is not into partying. I really loved how protective and honest Ben is with Amber. They meet when he puts some guys in their place who are not leaving her alone at a party. Amber is insecure about her weight and he really does everything he can to show her how desirable he finds her. Amber really falls hard for him too and they make a fabulous couple. It is a quick read and left me smiling and happy.

A short but very sweet story.
Amber may not be the hottest person on campus but she has class. With her nose in the books all the time. She never gets to go out, so when she does. She meets her knight in shining Armour.
Ben from the moment I ran into her, she's all I think about and we never did anything but talk. He has to get his head back into the game. Swimming and hitting the books if he wants that Attorney job he's aiming for because good looks won't get him by. But what about that woman??

Ben is going to a university on a swim-team scholarship and wants to be a lawyer so he can take care of his mom. he is also a polar bear shifter.
When he meets Amber he feels a strong attraction to her. his bear knows she is the one. What's even better? she feels the pull and attraction too.
This is a sweet and romantic story of beginning love. I love how sweet and great the author wrote Ben. Very cute story so far. I can't wait for part 2 to come out.
Shifter fans this one is sweet.
Voluntarily reviewed and I enjoyed it.

I liked this book but I wanted more! I really liked the fact that the main male character wasn't a man whore for a change. That gets tiresome. I thought Amber's reaction to learning he was a shifter was too easy. No one would really just accept that explanation without some proof or without thinking the guy was a bit crazy, regardless of how she was feeling about him. But overall, I am looking forward to part 2.

This is a wonderful story. I love Ben. He is a polar bear shifter, on his college swim team, is planning to go to law school at Harvard, and is very attracted to curvy Amber. The attraction between them is immediate. Is there more there than just a simple attraction? This is just part one though. So I will have to wait to see what happens. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced copy, and I am looking forward to Part 2.

What a really sweet story! Ben is a polar bear shifter and his bear knows what he wants and that is sweet and curvy Amber. He rescues her from some guys at a frat party and after that they can’t seem to stay away from each other. Ends on a cliffhanger so can’t wait for the next part to this story!

I received this book for an honest review.
Ben is on scholarship for the swim team. He wants to go to Harvard to become a lawyer. He is also a polar bear.
Amber is a beautiful curvy girl and she has trouble at a party that Ben helps her with.
The two bond instantly. But she has an issue with all the vapid Barbie girls giving Ben the eye that he doesn't even see.
I can't wait to read part 2.

This was a quick read and short story about Amber, the curvy college student, and her fated mate Ben, a polar bear shifter. I loved how he quickly came to her defense in the coffee shop during their study date and the sparks between them.

I do wish that the book was a little longer - but I can't wait for the second part.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for this honest review.

I loved the story of Amber and Ben, how they met in less than ideal circumstances and got to know each other better and get closer.
I'm anxious to read more about these two and what Ben's swim teammate can do to hurt him.

The problem with ebooks is that you often come across reasonable stories (ok a 3) but the writing style, spelling and grammar in them are crap. Wright doesn’t know how a decent sentence works. Her complex sentences are usually as written as two separate sentences and since one clause is a dependent clause, that does not work. For example,

“I’d never challenged her decision. Deciding at a very young age to be there and strong for her.” (p.27)

There are spelling and editing errors and the occasional completely incorrect word. I wish I could draw what was in my head for this one:

“ I had to will myself to stay put and not just clamor on top and straddle him.” (p. 68)

Think I will pass on the second half of the book. $4 is $4 too much.

This book was a disappointment.
I found it for free and it seemed interesting, since I love paranormal and shifters (especially bears, since they are my favorite animal) but what I got was no paranormal romance but a clichéd college romance. There was no shifting at all, just a mention here or there of his inner bear. This had nothing to do with paranormal though.
The story line was flat as well and the romance itself had no build up at all. They were just in love somehow and had sex, nothing more. It at least was fast to read, so no pain there. I would personally not recommend it though, even if one would look out for a quick read in the paranormal genre. There are better short book out there.

Childishly written

I have no time not patience for all this repetition and exposition. At no point in this story did he turn into a bear. Stop forcing all this crap on me. The characters weren't developed. I know all of this was supposed to be preamble for sex but REALLY?! It read like, this is what typical college students are supposed to do.
The dialogue was like it came out of the Android in Sym-Bionic Titan; stiff, unnatural and unbelievable.
I don't even want to see what comes next. This may have actually cured me of my compulsion for completion.

This was a wonderful short story and cant wait to see what happens next with Amber and Ben. when Ben rescue Amber from a party. Ben is having a time with getting his shy Amber to understand that she is it for him. Can Ben have what he is working so hard for being attorney and his mate to? Amber does not see how someone that is gorgeous like Ben would ever want her.Highly I recommend this book and the series.

Excellent fun read about two academically minded college students with an un-bear-able physical attraction to each other. She feels that she is overweight, he is concerned about her possible reaction to his being a bear shifter. Situational and verbal humor make this one different from the same old stuff. Looking for the next one, but glad that it's broken up into parts so that I can get other things done!
Steven Washington did a fine narration for this Whispersync on the cheap!

Mate Found

For this book the author has done a good job at laying down the ground work for building a relationship for Amber and Ben.

As this is the first part in a serial I will continue to read as the author complete each installment.

Received this ARC from the author and I have voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

Author never finished the series!!

Wish this wasn't a serial. Yeah, I went against my usual rule to never buy a serial, but being a polar bear shifter story, I was weak and did it anyway. I rather liked it, but it really should had never been a serial because she never finished the damn story after Book #2!! I will never disobey my rules again! I wrote them for a reason...

This was an awesome book.. The thing about this author is she has away of driving the point home. See Amber who was a plus size woman was not ashamed of her size. The thing i loved about Ben was he was not afraid to show that the like women with curves and he would not stand for anyone making her feel not worth of his interest.

Here Amber and Ben were both in college. Ben was doing his best to stay focused on school and keep his coach and team off his back. He was one that did not look at the barbie style women that so wanted for him to look their way. No he needed more. He needed his mate and he knew his mate would be one to his like and oh how he was right about that.

Amber has a few surprises. See she is going to have to find out there is more to Ben then meets the eyes. Not only will Ben have to tell her that he is a polar bear shifter but that she is his mate.

This is a lot of one person to take in but the one thing about mates is they are accepting. You will so enjoy this love story about these two. Trust me when I say the author does not disappoint. I so can not wait for the next book in the series.

Really good feel good book

Really enjoyed this polar bear love story. Ben really has a heart of gold.
Amber is someone easy to relate to when she doubts herself and looks.
I loved how Ben was so easy to talk to with Amber and gave such thoughtful responses. But cross him or insult his woman and he is all bear lol, its sweet
Oh and the story itself is really good, involves tense moments, sad moments, laughable and aww moments.
Can't wait to read the rest of the story, yep it ends with you wanting book 2.

I really enjoyed reading this interesting and fascinating book. What you will find in this book is: a young man/polar bear shifter focused on swimming & schoolwork (Ben), a BBW who at times suffers from low self-esteem (Amber), drama, ambitions, family, humor, friendship, attraction, and emotional feelings. The story-line and plot is well thought out and written. The characters are quite well developed with emotional feelings according to the situation they find themselves in. Please be aware that this book does end in a cliffhanger and will continue in the next book, personally I am waiting with anticipation for the next book in the series and would recommend this book.

3.5 *s

This is my first Emerald Wright story and I enjoyed it. It was short, fast and a good read. I wish there was more to it though. It felt rushed but not in a way that took too much from the actual story. If that makes sense.

I love bear shifter stories, polar Bears especially and man, this fella here - Ben - is a big bad arse! Our curvy little Amber is a bad arse in her own way. she is insecure, a little bit in her own head but in the end she wins the bear over. Both college students have a course in mind. They want to be successful, and to make a difference with their 'grown up' lives.

I can't wait to see what book 2 has for us....

This is a mini book, a quick read, fast paced. Ben is half polar bear & Amber is human. They connect while both are at college. It seems they were made for each other. It's part one. Come and see how their foundation was built.
