Okay, this was a tough one for me to review because there was so much that I loved, yet the main couple were not that interesting to me. First off, this series is amazing and it’s an addictive joy of mine, so much so that I find myself looking forward to next book because I need my Angel Pack fix. I love the dynamics of this paranormal world: the war, the many facets of each shifter, vampire, fae, and the underworld. I especially loved the birth of King Dante’s twins, and I was hoping for Noah to go into labor and deliver, too, but I think that will happen in the next installment. This is a series built on family. Not a blood family, but a group of mixed paranormals who have joined and built a life together.

Xander is a wolf shifter who has been in many a book so his history is well documented, but Shelby, his vampire (with special powers) mate is kind of new. So much so that I kind of forgot who he was, and had to backtrack a little bit. I’m not sure why these two didn’t light up my Nook, but there was so much more going on that I was okay with it and it really didn’t take anything away from my enjoyment.

Now, I am hoping for the next book because I need to see where things are going, and I am also foaming at the mouth for the next Beyond the Angel Pack book, too. So, if you’ve been a loyal reader to this series, then I am pretty confident that you will love all the action that takes place in this book, too.

I’m averaging out the rating because I would give the story 4 stars, but I would give Xander and Shelby’s relationship only 3 stars. I just wasn’t feeling the love between the two. Shelby’s attitude upset me quite a bit. I’m really glad Xavier called him out on his attitude because the way he treated Xander was over the top and unfair. The rest of the story was really good. I liked Jesse’s story ark throughout the book. Despite the lackluster romance, overall the story was pretty good.
