Sharing Is Caring

Late one cold winter's night the wind started to blow. It howled through the treetops as it started to snow. Everything was covered with the cold white snow, including poor Morrie, who had no place to go. He lay out in the snow and shivered, his teeth chattered. His fur coat was wet, oh so matted and tattered. Read Sharing Is Caring to find out how poor Morrie Mouse finds a caring friend.

I live in Marion, NY with husband Tom, son Josh, grandson Aaron, yellow lab Yeller, and Karma the cat. I finally started writing 2 years ago after my son graduated from high school. I have wanted to write for many years but with raising 2 teens and not being able to figure out what to write about...it finally hit me...write about life's experiences. I love writing inspirational children's books and I feel the best stories come from real life experiences. When I am not writing I love taking pictures, quilling, listening to my son play guitar, painting, and making jewelry.

A field mouse is run out of its comfortable barn home by a farmer and his cat. An opossum has a wonderful warm home with room to spare – except in his heart. Will this tale have a happy ending?

In “Sharing is Caring”, author Ruth Coates Diamond takes the biblical lesson of loving thy neighbor as thyself (although keeping any religious references between the lines rather than overt), and retells it as a children's tale with anthropomorphic animals. Nicely illustrated (as no artist is credited, I assume that this is also the work of Ms. Diamond), “Sharing is Caring” is a nice rhyming tale appropriate for its elementary school audience.

RATING: 4 1/2 stars, rounded down to 4 stars where 1/2 stars are not permitted.

DISCLOSURE: I was provided with a free copy of this book in a random draw. No conditions were placed upon acceptance, although it was strongly hinted that a prompt, honest review would be appropriate.

This little book is a treasure. It has a good message presented in a pleasing rhyme format, and the illustrations are excellent. I cannot wait to share it with the little ones in my life.
I received my copy free through Goodreads.
