Approaches the subject of physics from a contemporary viewpoint, integrating the Newtonian, relativistic and quantum description of nature. The text covers all the traditional topics of physics with greater emphasis on the conservation laws, the concepts of field and waves and the atomic view of matter.
Excellent book. Clear, lucid presentation. No unnecessary description or details. Comprehensive coverage. If you want to learn Physics ( not from exam point of view only), this book is a must. No commercial-oriented, colourful approach like the books of Resnick, Halliday or Young or Serway,Jewett. Only thing is the classification of the subject deviates slightly from traditional. In case the topic you want could not be readily found, it can easily searched and found by looking into the contents/ index pages. The authors present the subject so nicely that I love this book! This book is a combined volume of their 3 volumes series under the title "Fundamental University physics" which are very good ones. Unfortunately, these 3 volumes are not available these days even in US. I would prefer the three volumes series than the combined one since, in the latter the authors have omitted some relatively advanced topics and condensed or discussed briefly some other topics to reduce the thickness of the book. Still this book contains around 1150 pages.
