When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
Wicked Witches of the Midwest Mystery #7-9 I was just getting used to the narrator and the narrator changed. I hate it when that happens. Aris had finally grown on me and now they've changed to Hollis McCarthy. I've already listened to a series that she narrated previously. I wasn't really impressed then and I have to say the same for now. She's not horrible or anything, I'm more irritated by the lack of continuity than anything else.
You Witch (Wicked Witches of the Midwest Mystery #7-9) – Started: 11-20-2020 7) Life’s a Witch – Read: November 20-21, 2020 Aunt Tillie’s youngest sister Willa comes to visit and brings her granddaughter Rosemary. This brings about WWIII (Winchesters vs. Willa take 3). Throw in a murder, a violent ghost and a very troubled teenage girl and mayhem definitely ensues. Narrator: Aris. She still mispronounces words and has odd pauses, but she has grown on me. I love her Aunt Tillie voice. 8) Charms & Witchdemeanors – Read: November 21-22, 2020 Aunt Tillie’s past comes back to haunt her and get her blamed for a murder. And to make matters worse, when Aunt Tillie is taken into custody, Landon’s boss feels he can’t be objective where his girlfriend’s family is concerned and assigns a different agent to the case. Narrator: Hollis McCarthy. This is a new narrator for this series. As I enjoy continuity, any change in narrators irritates me. 9) The Trouble with Witches – Read: November 24, 2020 Sam’s new tanker brings a lot more to The Dandridge than just the base for a fake haunted ship. Add to that a town arsonist, angry ghosts haunting Annie and Belinda (Annie’s mom) officially being let in on the big secret, and you’ve got a ton of Winchester mayhem. Narrator: Hollis McCarthy. I still don’t like her as much as Aris, but at least she’s not horrible… Just annoying.
I'm so far behind on reviewing that I'm taking a shortcut with this series. I read the entire series back to back, then the shorts, and now I'm working my way through the fairy tales. I like this author. She's great at creating lovable characters with sass and spunk - good at heart, but not rule-followers, at least not all the time. Lots of personality, warm fun families, great relationships where all turns out well in the end. And the mysteries are entertaining. I'm into contemporary fantasy, so the magical elements are fun for me. None of these books made a huge impression on me individually, but the series overall was really enjoyable to read. And it's free on Kindle Unlimited. If your looking for light paranormal fun, this author is a very good bet.
I enjoyed the series so far. I am an older male 74 years old, I played college football 64-69 and worked in waste water treatment , a steel mill, Ford motor, oil company on shore & off shore and a gas pipeline all using my engineering degree retiring at 72. I got to see the world in those jobs breaking bread and having a beer or two with people of all races and creeds seeing how we are quite the same. It's nice to just enjoy a story that is not deep but enjoyable!!!!!
With every book or 3 in these books as I read or I should say listen too. They just get better. I cannot believe how many books this author has written that she has not ran out of storylines. Or I guess I should say great storylines. She never disappoints me. And I'm very picky. I found Bay and Landon on their honeymoon in a carryover series so I am backtracking in their story and I'm so glad I am. Only 9 more books to go till their wedding book. I cannot wait.
Laying bed reading about Aunt Tillie’s “dragon leggings” made me laugh, I had to snigger/laugh/chuckle quietly so as to not wake my sisters in the next room. The descriptive writing about how Landon and others reacted to Aunt Tillie’s leggings both then and in other places was priceless. A good story and humorous. Thank you Amanda.
It's always fun to visit the Winchester family. I do liKe Sam's parents, they're great and his mom is funny. They're all funny, but the whining can get old. Annie is a wonderful, animated, precocious little girl. Lots of action, suspense, intrigue and humor. Enjoy.
I cannot get enough of these books. They are highly entertaining and make me laugh out loud. The characters are a hoot, especially Aunt Tilly. I hope the author never quits writing this series; I'd probably go into withdrawal!!!
Having lots of time on my hands, I was delighted to find this fun and engaging series. With enough family angst to remind me of home, I am enjoying this series and highly recommend it!
I really enjoyed the series Wicked Witches of the Midwest. Love Aunt Tilly and Landon. The stories are always entertaining. I find I laugh out loud as I'm listening. I hope it's not truly the end of series.
I know I've said it before but I just can't get enough of these books. I really don't know how the author comes up with the mysteries and the conclusions. It's a great combination of humor, sass, craziness and romance. I just love them💖💖💖😍😍😊
I love the omnibus books because you can just keep on reading! Amanda M. Lee’s books are some the I have yet to get tired of reading, so it great to be able to just keep on reading through multiple books!
AMANDA LEE, PLEASE STICK TO ONE SERIES WHEN USING THE SAME CHARCTERS! I LOVE YOUR BOOKS, BUT I HATE HAVING TO CHECK ALL YOUR TITLES AND DATES BEFORE STARTING A NEW BOOK SO I DON'T MISS ANYTHING. THIS IS WHY I DON'T RECOMMEND YOUR BOOKS.
This is my third maybe forth time reading these stories. They are awesome! They have everything, romance, comedy, twisty plots with powerful supporting characters and of corse a little magic
Bay, Thistle, and Clove get themselves in to lots of trouble in this bundle of of book. If you are wondering if there are Aunt Tillie shenanigans, don’t worry, she is there in all her glory!
Amanda M. Lee has quickly become one of my favorite independent authors! I love the snark and sarcasm and can’t wait to read the rest of the series and her other series!
I Love the characters and the storylines are interesting, fun, and sometimes gruesome. Throw in a lot of laugh out loud scenes and these books are a great read.
This was a great collection of books by Amanda M Lee. These witches are constantly finding trouble but sarcasm and loyalty keeps everyone on their toes.
