When Baker first saw Millie, he truly believed he was ready to start afresh. The death of his wife and child had left him hollow. It was time to start over and leave his old life behind, without looking back.

Millie was used to coming last in everything, forever second best. There was no way she’d be able to compete with a ghost, so she let Baker go. But years have passed, and Baker is no longer a lost soul. He intends to show Millie the real man he has become. He’s determined to have a future with Millie. With the help of his family, The Skulls, he knows he’ll claim her as his old lady, and his wife in the end. With The Skulls at his back, there’s no chance of failing.

Everything seems to fall into place. Baker has Millie right where he wants her, in his heart, and in his bed. When her sister turns up, trouble comes with her. Can Baker convince Millie that he’ll stick by her? Will Bethany come between them? It’s time for Millie to find out what it’s like to have The Skulls at her back. No one attacks a Skull and gets away with it, and Millie is a Skull, Baker’s old lady, and part of the family.

She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. Baker I felt was a good hero. He lost his wife and unborn child 5 years ago and while he knew that Millie had feelings for him and that he was developing feelings for her he backed completely because he was still in love with his dead wife. For this part I had to applaud the guy. He knew he wasn't ready and he took the time to handle everything instead of hurting Millie. For those who have read about their past and the events that got to the point where he walked away may feel differently BUT this was my first book to read from this series so all I could go on was what happened here. Once he felt he was ready he then pursued Millie. I loved how he never pressured her but let their relationship move at her pace.

Now Millie on the other hand...I just couldn't deal with her. I think she had the possibility of being a strong heroine but her innocence absolutely killed it! This woman made me want to throw my kindle! She's 29 (TWENTY-NINE!!!) and has never made out with a guy, been felt up, and as you can guess...never had sex. The no to sex part I could probably deal with but the fact that she's never made out...WTF?? Like seriously WTF?? How is that possible?? Plus...she was engaged! She had a high school boyfriend who she was engaged to marry but found him sexing up her sister and bailed. So, I'm expected to believe that she her fiance for years (I think she said they were together for 4 years) and that they never made out or he never touched her?? Again, I could believe the no sex BUT...really...no kissing, no touching? I call bullshit.

Ultimately Millie' innocence killed it for me. After finding all of that out and getting what felt like 20 different POV's I just couldn't bring myself to care. I'm giving it 2 stars because, while it may have hurt, I felt that Baker did the right thing by dealing with his emotions and healing before pursuing another relationship.

2.25 WHAT A WASTE OF TIME STARS

Well I was warned well in advanced about this one being LAME and boy was it ever!
I have to say the one good thing about it is that I honestly believed the hero was over his dead wife.
However, I was so F*cking tired of hearing about how awesome his dead wife was, how much he loved her and that she was his first love (a virgin too).
At least the hero was not a man whore.
That's nice!

description

Now the heroine, she is a special snowflake or is that a rainbow unicorn I'm not sure I get those two confused!?
Anyways, she was one of those naïve innocent types whom at 29 she is still a virgin. And not just a virgin but completely innocent. She had not even had an orgasm before!
And get this she was engaged!
REALLY?

description

Anyways, moving along the story gets more confusing with more drama from other characters and the two main characters take a backseat to all this.
The whole vasectomy issue and the growing relationship between an partial amputee and her longtime crush and many many more.
It's as if the author was filling the book with action from others because essentially this story was just sooo boring.

description

Honestly, this couple bored me. Even their passion was planned! Aahhh I don't mind being prepared (condoms or pills) but honestly this is NOT HIGH SCHOOL.
She is 29 now!
OMG, did she need an entourage to get ready here? Everyone knowing they are going to DO IT and that's she a virgin.
Really?

And all those plots and story line and POV are mixed in a jumble together with this story.
There was literally about six couples stories going on simultaneously with this story.
By the end I was so confused I just wanted to stop reading this book.

description

The story was just a mess for me, who had only read a few of these books with these characters.
If I were to recommend this book to anyone, I would first have to state that its important to read the others in this series.
Not to do so may just frustrate you and leave you confused as it did me!

Safety: it's perfectly safe, no drama, no cheating, and condoms used.

ARC received from author

This book was so good! I think after the previous book we were all waiting for Baker and Millie's story.

This book is 3years after the club got rid of Andrew. Everyone in the club is moving on and settling down to an drama free life (for now)

And Baker has finally decided to also move on with his life. We learned in the previous book that Baker was married and his wife was pregnant and then he lost both of them. And when he met Millie he was still in mourning and Millie even though she was attracted to him she decided a long time ago never to be second best anymore. So she walked away from Baker

But now all bets are off and Baker has decided to claim his women. So all he needs to do is convince Millie that he is finished mourning his wife and that he wants her and only her.

This book is more laid back than all the othe previous books, No dire death situations no shootings or kidnappings just very laid back.
But still a little drama with Millie's sister which was holy freaking hell. The Spawn of Satan.

We get to check in with some couples, and especially with Steven and Sally. I can't wait to read their book!

Definitely a favorite of mine Sam and hopefully we will be getting A New Generation Book???

I loved Bakers book. I was a little worried about him because of his struggle with the pain from the past. But I shouldn't had worried. Every puzzle piece fit perfectly. This story was sweet with a little second chance romance. You for sure will fall for Baker as I did. No one going to stop this man to claim his woman, when he is finally ready for his future. And the way he was with Millie.... It was just priceless. You just wanna to hug Baker tight, he so makes you smile silly and your heart to expand with warmth.

This The Skulls book is different from previous ones. No big dramas and no past skeletons showing up to fuck with the club. Though, there still is some drama. One that comes from Millies sister. Which I want to strangle six ways and bury 8 feet under. She's that evil bitch. Uh!!!

On the lighter note, I freakn adore Skulls children! They are so new generation for the club. I so can't wait for theirs ride to start. It will be epic.

This is my confession: I'll admit, I have found myself drifting away from this authors work. Being a fan of the Skulls and familiar with Baker I wanted to read his story and see him finally get his happily ever after. While he did, the book in general was unremarkable. Honestly I found it difficult to read more or less right out of the gate. Why? Quite a few reasons really. 1) while I've always hated the term wishy washy -it is fitting in regard to Millie. 2) Baker seemed to be a light switch with his feelings and when he decided to finally get involved with Millie at times his innuendo seemed a bit like pressure for her to take it to the physical level 3) the jumps in time: a few weeks later, 3 months later 4) POV from every other characters life, not having anything to do with the current plot. I have seen this as a pattern in the last few books. I don't know if its filler or a rush to get a characters story out because of demand. It gets supremely frustrating. While I would like to see what happens with Sally and Stephen, Im pretty sure I'm going to pass if its going to be anything like this one.

Baker - The Skulls MC Series - Book 14 - By - Sam Crescent

This is the fourteenth book I'm the almighty Skulls MC Series and it was worth the wait. Baker and Millie have been circling each other for years and now is the time where they finally get their story told. Baker lost his wife katie, his childhood sweetheart and unborn child to a drunk driver which is a tragedy he never thought he would overcome. Jaxson "Baker" Jones, JJ, was so in love with his first wife when she passed he gave up on his life, he stopped baking, closed and sold his bakery and home and travelled. He didn't know what to do with his life until he stumbled into Fort Wills and The Skulls MC. With The Skulls he found a purpose, a family and also Millie Levy, the local toy shop owner who was friends with the club and it's old ladies. Millie was instantly drawn towards Baker but she could see that he was still grieving, still in love with his deceased wife so had to step away for both of their sakes and future happiness. Seeing Baker and Millie find their happiness was beautiful to read. They went through so much separately throughout their lives but then came together and took the journey by each other's sides and tackled any threats together, including Bethany, Millie's despicable sister. They are such well written and strong characters who have both endured heartache but found happiness together. They were definitely worth the wait. I loved seeing more of Fighter. As always Lash and Angel were amazing along with other club members who we see along the way and Steven and Sally, that looks to be coming to a head soon and I am here for it and so excited to see where their story goes. Another great story for a series that I absolutely love and adore and can't wait to read more of in the future and re read again and again. Happy Reading.

It was okay.

I expected a little more as there was no major villain in this book. But a lot of this book was a blurred fast forward of time. So their relationship was more off page than on. Still I enjoyed this story. I just wish more had been written.

I liked the sneak peaks of Steven and Sally but I detested how the author treated Butch and Cheryl. What’s the point of a romance book for those characters if you are going to not give them an HEA with the “family” that this whole series is about? Also, this is a lame a$$ MC now. It’s more like a moms club. Why would an MC no longer be doing illegal things? You won’t have a reputation of being bada$$ if you aren’t illegal in some way. Like I said, lame.

I still hate the Alex character. That should have never been a book. And I think the author wrote him like a sociopath. The couple times he was in this book disgusted me. Michael is fast following my dislike too.

Enjoy.

I couldn't wait for Baker and Millie's story. Baker had been through so much but he was ready to move on. Millie wanted someone to want her and not her put her as second choice.
I loved when Baker was finally ready to move on and that he went after what he wanted. He let Millie know she was it for him.
Finally Millie was able to stand up for herself and let her sister know she wasn't taking her crap any more.
I was a little disappointed when the Old Ladies of the MC wanted to handle Bethany. I was expecting them to knock the crap out of her and they really didn't do anything to her. Just showed her what they had on her. C'mon this is the MC, rough her up a little, something more than!!!
Otherwise a great story. So happy to see them get their HEA. I also love the little tidbits of stories of what is going on with other Skull couples throughout the book.

This book was such a disappointment. Up to this point I had really liked Baker and was rooting for him and Millie. I thought she was a cheery and adorable character. And then it's like the pod people came and both of these characters were aliens. No part of there romance felt real. I think the only thing that made me not completely hate this book was the alternate stories going on. And yet I also felt that they took so much away from Baker/Millie's story.

I've struggled from the first book with all the grammer, typos, and editing issues which just seem to pile higher and higher with each book. Honestly I'm not even sure if I'm gonna be able to read, Steven, or the Chaos Bleeds books, Sinner's Possession & Natalie's Choice.

Love Angel & Lash! Can't wait to see ...who Sally decides on. Happy Baker was able to move on and finally went after Millie but the fact she has never been touched before...wow, that was too much to handle. Low key book compared to rest.

Ok read I was hoping for a tiny bit of drama or angst😬 but none. baker and Millie good -found Millie a bit of a wet rag. Just seemed to ok with everything for her. She just goes with the flow . Anyway if you’re up for a quick read with no drama and a HEA this is the one.

Mediocre.

All I kept thinking while reading this book was "is this really part of the Skulls?"
I guess because all the past books are stocked full of problems for the clubs, suspense, and outside issues that impose on the club as well, that when it comes to a calm club it becomes boring.

Millie's issues with her family was a pretty predictable problem. After the mention of her family I knew that was were this book was going. However, I will say I was annoyed and disappointed. The issue of her sister was so easily fixed. Majority of the book was just about this couple getting together and leading up to some mediocre sex.

I hope this isn't how the rest of this series goes. If so, this may be where I quit with this series. I'd hate to have a series I've come to love get pretty crappy at the end and I regret reading them.

After years of not being able to get over his dead wife, Baker finally realizes that if he wants Millie he has to move on, and he finally does just that, and starts pursuing Millie, who can't resist once she realizes that Baker is, at last, just thinking of her. They start dating, try to take it slow, but end up together very fast. Millie has enough reasons to be the way she is, and in this book we finally get a look at her past and the reasons she ended up as the owner of a toy shop in a little town. At first, I thought Millie was only being difficult, but then I realized that she was right about demanding to be loved fully and without any ghost haunting them.

I am not sure why I have been picking so many Sam Crescent books lately but I hope I will be forgiven because she is a fantastic story teller. I picked this story because of the blurb, it was really compelling to me so I purchased the book (last November) thinking it would be further down the line but the blurb kept dragging me back to book until I finally relented and started reading and then proceeded to read it again. Don’t get me wrong I usually read good books more than once but never twice in the same week, there is usually six months to a year before a book starts calling my name again.

Baker is number 14 in The Skulls series and the first book of that series that I have read and now I have a strong urge to start at the beginning with book one because, like Laurann Dohner, Sam created a world where you get more than just the main characters, you get a three-dimensional world of ongoing lives. Clearly Baker and Millie’s story started in an earlier book that focused mostly on the main characters but yet was able to branch out and encompass everyone in one way or another, I love series that are written this way.

Baker is ready for Millie to be in his life but when he here hears she has a date he plans to crash her date and get her back, how romantic, I absolutely love that part. Millie left her greed ridden snobbish family and her rotten cheating scum bag fiancé and found a place where she felt she could be happy. So when Bethany the Bitch arrives, determined to take what Millie loves from her, Millie fights her insecurities as she stand up against her sister. Have to tell you just from what I have read in Baker alone I totally love the Skulls women, they definitely can rock it out when provoked. Millie chose her family well.

This is the part that I am both excited about and sometimes dread, how should I rate Baker. For the most part I clearly love this story but there are a few places that left me dazed and confuse, but I will get to those in a moment. I would like to give Baker a five-star rating because I do love the story and will no doubt read it again warts and all but I just can there were eleven edits in all at the end of my count and some of those edits were really left me going ‘what the fuck’ and disrupted my reading flow both times I read the story. That being said I am sorry but I am giving Baker three stars, who know maybe this Summer I can find time to make some changes to my rating system so that when I do come around to reading Baker again it will be different.

This was a great book & totally what I needed from this series right now! Not too much drama, lots of love, sweet gestures, fun girl talk time, fun family time... Really, really liked it.

Baker & Millie are like the sweetest couple EVER! (Well, besides Lash & Angel, of course.) Loved it when Baker finally took his old ring off & went full speed ahead- destination Millie, loved how his eyes were always & only on her, loved how he eased her into things & how hot they were together... *le sigh* They were just so utterly perfect together!

Lash/Angel- Loved getting more & more story on my favorite couple! I sided with Angel when it came to what Lash tried to do without her but I could understand the reasoning behind why he felt the way he did. Thank gods they worked it out... like there was any doubt, am I right?

Sally/Steven... They're probably the book I'm most looking forward to out of the "kids'". I just feel like there is so much story to tell between the two of them & I can't wait to get my #grabbyhands on it!

Alex/Cheryl/Michael... Alex has never been my favorite, so I'm not super psyched for Michael's storyline. I can't stand how Cheryl & Butch continue to be outcasts & Alex just annoys the crap out of me.

Of course I can't forget Anthony, Daisy, Simon, Tabitha... Super pumped for all the possible books for the next generation of The Skulls/Chaos Bleeds! Bring on the next one in the ongoing saga!!

I agree with another reviewer, in usual Sam Crescent fashion, she focuses so much on other characters and dedicates little focus on what is supposed to be the main characters, which deters and confuses the reader.

I loved Baker and Millie's story, it was sweet and cute. It was everything else that was unnecessary information, though I did enjoy the update on Butch and Cheryl. They are my favorite couple and I hate what the club is forcing on them, they're suffering and it's like the club doesn't give a shit...that's fucked up.

I've been anticipating this book since the introduction of Baker and Millie and while in the other Skulls books the build up for these two were awesome I felt let down by their actual story. It was too short. Not enough of them getting together. I felt like the author short changed them since we've seen them so much before in previous books. Like that was their story and their actual book was a novella. The time gaps of speeding up there relationship was disappointing. Total let down for me.
