Kamal sits still in the dark, cold, wet night, stunned by recent events. There’s no way back home, as she’s no longer welcome there. She can’t go to her parents’ home, as her dad would never accept her back. She thought she had finally found love and happiness, but even those doors are now closed to her. So where was she to go from here?

As she sits numb in the pouring rain, she’s approached by a curious and concerned stranger, Michelle. Michelle’s one kind gesture on that formidable night, gives Kamal the support and shoulders she would need, because if recent events had turned her life upside down, what was yet to come, was going to shake the ground beneath her feet.

The pain and heartache endured gives rise to a new Kamal. From a naïve, vulnerable, broken woman, she goes on to become a confident and successful businesswoman. But years later, a ghost from her past brings her back to a truth she had chosen to ignore, a truth that is to take her to India to finally face, the truth.

So, I went into this book completely blind— not knowing what to expect or what I was getting myself into. And honestly, I’m so glad I did, because this book was full of shock after shock. There were several moments where I had to put the book down and just stare at the wall, trying to process what had just happened.

I found myself so invested in all of the characters storylines, especially since there were times when multiple things were unfolding at once. It kept me hooked from start to finish. I even teared up a few times—the emotional pull was that strong.

Truly felt like a rollercoaster of emotions. I loved how things worked out in the end though, my girl had been through so much and definitely deserved the happy ending. I also loved how the ending tied in her parent’s story a little bit—it added such a touching layer to everything.

This book was full of interesting characters.I read it in one session whilst on holiday. The descriptions of family were well written and the undercurrent of sadness permeated throughout the book.Looking forward to the next book?
