If you have read any of Lacie's other work, you're going to soon find out that this is a bit of departure from all the playful spanking of her Student Bodies series. The very first chapter of this book paints a very dark picture of a young woman running away from something dangerous, but we don't know what that is. She gets caught, and then it is back to the beginning where her story gets started...

Pearl is a stripper. She's not working her way through college or trying to support her family. She's a stripper because she loves to dance, and doing it this way produces fast money. One night she dances for a handsome seemingly rich man and he keeps coming back for more. After leaving her his card, she finds out what that more is. He offers her a job--$100,000 for one month of work at a very exclusive club, the Fox Pit. This club is where the rich come to play and have their fantasies fulfilled--their sexual fantasies that is. She is promised a set "working" schedule and time off to herself while living on premise at the Fox Pit, where all her needs will be provided for. Pearl strips for a living and enjoys likes sex as much as the next person, so how hard can this be?

Pearl soon finds out that she bit off more than she can chew. While the billionaire's playground might look like something out of a romantic fantasy novel from the outside, what lurks behind closed doors is anything but sweet fairy tales. The happenings of the Fox Pit aren't anything like what she expected, or what she knows how to deal with. She realizes that she is a lot more naive in the ways of the world when it comes to the various forms of sex and how others fulfill their sexual desires. Will Pearl be able to withstand a month as a glorified sex slave for the most money she's ever seen? Or will the reality of the Fox Pit and the men that run it be too much for her to bear and cause her to break?

Lacie has definitely taken a detour down a dark and twisty road with Fool's Gold. The first chapter does a great job for setting the tone of the book once Pearl arrives at the Fox Pit. Pearl imagines herself as a strong woman, but soon realizes that there is a weakness in her that she has no idea how to control. Some of the men may make you swoon, but all of them will have you scratching your head trying to figure out who is behind all the drama going on in the background of the Fox Pit. Excellent dark erotic novel from the fabulous Ms. Fox!

Wow!! Another fabulous book from Lacie!!

This is nothing like her previous books, and I was pleasantly surprised! You know during the first chapter of the book, this is no story about a young school girl getting spanked by her professor! This is about a young woman running from her dark & dangerous past.

Pearl is a stripper. Not because she needs the money. She does it because she loves to dance, and it brings her lots of fast, easy money, doing exactly what she loves. She dances for a handsome man, who keeps coming back for repeat performances. He leaves her his card, and offers her a job. A job that pays $100,000 for only one month!! Working at The Fox Pit is nothing like she expected.

This book is a must read! Love the character build-up! Love the suspense & drama! Great descriptive phrasing! This is a wonderful dark erotic novel!!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and want to say, Lacie did an outstanding job!!

OMG the sex is hot hot hot. So decidedly sizzling. It almost makes me want my very own contract... not that anyone would ever pay me for it, but that's what books like this are for. Phew! Going to go drink some ice cold water now. I want more Fox Pit ASAP!

Intriguing

Pearl has been given a chance to make $100,000 in a single month. The catch? Sign on the dotted line and accept every single sordid thing that happens while she is at the Fox Pit. With the temptation of that money, she can’t resist.

The story is intriguing and the scenes are utterly steamy, but it will ultimately leave you wondering what in the world is happening!? All that intrigue and allure will keep you turning page after page wondering what the women at the Fox Pit have gotten themselves into.

The audio narrator’s voice is amazing. She has a soothing tone for the heroine but it becomes so deep, rumbly and seductive when she’s speaking for a male. She doesn’t just read the book, she becomes the characters, mimicking their stutters or yells, even their moans. I was enthralled by her narration.

Wow! This book was amazing. I have read all of Lacie D Fox's books, and this one is by far my favorite.

This book floored me. The deceit and danger was a nice addition to Ms. Fox's book. I was not expecting it at all.

Pearl's character was written flawlessly. She has all of the traits I love in a heroine. She is curious, strong willed, and down right deceiving if need be. I am super excited for the next book. I hope our hero turns out to be all that and then some. The man I think will be our hero is going to kick butt, that's for sure.

If you have read any of Ms Fox's other books, then you are in for a real treat with this one. This book is the polar opposite of all of her other books. Ms. Fox totally rocked the romantic suspense genre.

I've read a lot in many different genre. It's not easy to surprise me with a new story. This book did. It capture me from the first chapter to the last. I didn't know what to expect on the next page.
What an Author! Not to mention the characters in the book. Well described so it was easy to follow them. It's a 'must read'.
I went straight ahead and looked for more books from Lacie D Fox

Good story.

This is a really good story. Pearl is an interesting character. I am enjoying the Fox Pit itself. The characters in this story are making me want to know each one personally. I can't wait to read the next installment. I do recommend this book.

Great story

Fascinating story with lots of intrigue added at the end. Cliffhanger with more books to come. Can Lacie get out of there? Good editing, hot sex, well worth reading.

Fool's Gold is the first book in The Fox Pit Billionaires, a new series by Lacie D. Fox. This is a dark erotic suspense, which I usually love, but this book has left me confused about how to rate and review it. It had an interesting storyline, complex characters, drama, erotic encounters, secrets, intense situations, suspense, and surprise twists that kept me turning the pages to see what happened next. It had a suspenseful subplot that was interesting, and I would like to see where it leads.

Although I liked many things in this book, Pearl, the female main character, wasn't one of them. I couldn't stand the way she would pretend not to know exactly what she had signed up for, when her "lawyer" told her exactly what the contract said in detail. She may not have had experience with any of the BDSM aspects of the contract, but since she ignored everyone's warnings about going, that's on her. She would look down on all of the other foxes for doing what they had also signed up for, act like she was better than them, but then the first time she has to do a scene, she had no problems pushing it further than what was expected. She had no problems wanting Seth, her handler, even after finding out that he was married, but then talked down to him for getting physical with any of the other girls?!? Her character was all over the place, from being sweet and nice, to snarky and a bitch, to putting everything and everyone down, and acting like she was forced to be there in the first place. I hate this type of female drama, and it was exactly that throughout the entire book.

Unfortunately, it wasn't just Pearl who had personality changes throughout the book. All of the characters did this, and it was tiring trying to keep up with it all. Another big problem that I had was with the cliffhanger ending that came out of nowhere. There was no warning that this book would end this way, that this would be an ongoing series, or anything even hinting about it. If I had known prior to starting this book, I honestly would have passed at the chance to read it. I hate when it's not stated beforehand that the book will end with a cliffhanger, almost as much as I hate cliffhangers themselves. If they're necessary, I understand, but more often than not, they could have been avoided, like this one.

This is the first book that I have read by this author. Unfortunately, I don't know if I will continue reading this series any further. It's not a bad story, but there was just too much that didn't work for me. I'm not going to recommend or not recommend this book. I feel like this is one of those that each individual will have to decide if it's something that they can enjoy.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

Unfortunately, I found this book to be just be ok. There were some good scenes and the plot set-up was interesting but I thought Pearl was really annoying. Even though she read the contract and knew what she was getting into she was somehow surprised at every little thing that went on. I would have thought as a stripper she would have been less naive? She has a cool confidence in the beginning, that I liked, but after she gets to the fox pit, she is either disgusted or confused. It gets really old.

Fool’s Gold by Lacie D. Fox was unlike anything of hers I’ve read before, aside from the prequels to this story, since it’s a full-length novel. It has so much more depth and I was pleasantly surprised to find that this novel held me captive, not unlike the foxes when they were deliciously tied up. Pearl is recruited to be a fox when her job as a stripper neglects to pay off her debts. What she finds when she arrives is mystery, intrigue, secrets and… murder? This author has a way of taking the taboo and turning it into the sexiest thing you’ve ever read! A must read in my opinion.

I wasn't really sure what to expect going into Fool's Gold, the first book in a series by Lacie D Scott, an author who is new to me.

Possible Spoilers:

Pearl is a dancer at a strip club and in spite of most people's preconceptions, she's never had sex for money. Before now, anyway, but now she's been offered a hundred thousand dollars to spend one month doing just that, eight hours a day, six days a week, an exclusive sex club for the super rich. She owes a lot of money and figures she can handle it for a month.

Turns out though that it's not just a month of selling herself for sex. When she arrives her phone and her things are taken and except for a brief call to her friend, she's not allowed any further contact with the outside. She's expected to give the clients whatever they want: kink, submission, pain, role play, bondage, whatever. And honestly, Pearl doesn't know anything about any of this stuff. Although there are assurances of consent, and safe words, it's subtly implied that if she knows what's good for her she'll do whatever the client wants no matter what.

This is where the story got a bit uncomfortable for me. It leaned heavily toward dub-con possibly non-con and into dark fic territory. I've read dark fic before and have enjoyed it, but I didn't realize going into this story that was the theme here. Then there's also the problem, for me at least, that there's no real conclusion. It ends on a cliffhanger and to find out what happens next, you need to read the next two parts. I really dislike this current trend to break a story up into parts instead of just putting it all out there in one book. I don't mind reading a series, but each part should have a beginning and an end and not just leave you hanging.

All of that being said, I did like parts of the story, I'd give it 2.5 to 3 stars overall. There's an air of mystery and suspense that something more is going on and it makes you want to find out what it is. And I want to know whether or not Pearl gets out of it all okay. I'd recommend this book to readers who like dark erotic fiction and who like cliffhangers, this one is for you. But if you want a definite conclusion to the story and you're looking for a BDSM romance (where the relationship is SSC), best go elsewhere.

Arc by netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a good start to a new series. It's about a pole dancer who bites off more than she can chew and lands herself in the fox pit. There's a lot of mystery surrounding the owners of this establishment, and the whole story was shrouded in suspense, danger and steam. I'd like to see where this series takes us.

I didn't realize this book was part of a series and that I'd be left with a cliffhanger at the end, so that's a bit disappointing. Regardless, this was still a pretty interesting read if you're into dark erotic thrillers.

You're drawn in right away in the prologue when we read about Pearl trying to escape from someone by running through the woods barefooted. After the short prologue, we're taken back a month or so in time when Pearl was just a pole dancer/stripper. A handsome man ("Mr. Armani") has been watching her perform for several days, yet he never stays to see her strip, which she finds odd. One day he does though and leaves her with his mysterious business card. She eventually contacts him and he makes an offer she can't refuse since she's desperate for some cash. In exchange for $100,000/month, she'll be a 'fox' at the Fox Pit and basically a prostitute. But what choice does she have when she's in deep debt?

What we learn about the Fox Pit is that a lot of dark and depraved things go on there. I liked that Pearl wasn't happy about selling herself and kept her backbone. But she struggled with that fact that she actually enjoyed some of her scenes. There's a whole lot of mysteriousness about the owners and those on staff at the Fox Pit. I kept trying to figure it out in my head the entire book but in the end we're thrown yet another surprise.

Even though I really wasn't sure whether or not I liked the book that much, I will say that the suspense is killing me so much so that I want to continue reading, so I guess that's a sign of a great book :-)

*I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinion stated are solely my own and no one else's*

Fool's Gold is about a pole dancer who takes on more than she can chew. She gets offered a million dollars for rendering her services - but does she truly know what she's getting herself into?

The author captured Pearls fears and conflicted emotions beautifully. My heart broke for her; you can sense her fear and how selling her body is breaking her but you also see her confusion of being aroused by what should disgust her.

The Fox Pit men literally gave me the creeps and this book only gives you a glimpse of what these men could be capable of.

This was a great book and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

What would you do for money? That's exactly what Pearl is starting to think. Can she get out of the contract does she want out. This is a fantastic read with lots of strong likeable characters and a few not so. Can't wait to read book, this is a hot read.
