The Amazon #1 bestselling Delphi Group series is back in a shocking third installment!
American archaeologist Dr. Richard Pauling disappears in Venice and is presumed dead. The United States government, anxious to learn who killed him and why, calls on the Delphi Group to investigate. Senior operative Zane Watson leads a team to Italy, where they make a startling discovery: Pauling had recently acquired a mysterious map of unknown origin and purpose.
To the south, the underground vault of the Vatican Secret Archives is breached by a covert figure seeking an ancient relic shrouded in mystery. The Delphi team believes the map and the relic are somehow related, and they soon learn an ancient order is behind the intrigue. But where does the map lead? And why does the order want to get there so badly?
As they follow the trail of clues, Zane and the others find themselves moving toward a dark and sinister destination. It’s a place of legend, and for some, a place of unspeakable horror.
Soon, only one question remains: will they make it out alive?
No spoilers. But this review encompasses the first 3 novels of the Delphi Group. Book #1 was poorly edited, but in this book #2 the writing is much more refined and everything is just that much crisper and cleaner....Now, by book #3 Sneeden has truly refined his style, prose, and the editing is as good as the book #2. They are a nice mix of techno thriller, reality based sci-fi, and a detective story although it is a special operations man/team investigating. Sneeden has done very well to build a world in which the impossible just comes to life and it appears totally acceptable as possible. Solid science mixed with some pure fiction and you have a great thriller.
I read these a while ago, but still the story is fresh in my mind, which shows how much I enjoyed these Delphi Group novels (read the first 3 so far). Book #1 It was obviously a first entry for the author and deserves better editing (might have just been the Kindle version wasn't edited properly). The plot moves along nicely. Characters are deeply described and developed. The world building and scene construction is top notch...I can picture most of the scenes described with very little effort, which is a sign a gifted writer.
The tie-in with Bible verses and history is a nice touch, for those who aren't easily offended by a writer assuming the Word of God is 100% truthful and accurate...yet he never makes any of those claims, he simply uses the Bible as another source for his characters to delve deeper into the mystery that has beset them. Sneeden ties-in everything with science that is rooted in real practical applications and studies going on currently all across the world, so they have a sort of mix between Phillip K. Dick, Michael Crichton, and Clive Cussler - yes, an odd mixture that Sneeden pulls off oh so well.
John Sneeden delivers again! Part Spy thriller, part Adventure novel. This story zooms along with lightning speed. Incorporating exciting action set pieces with character development, Hades Conspiracy delivers on all it's premises. Again, this story fits into something bigger. I can't wait for the other entries in this thrilling series to see where Author Sneeden brings us next.
Storyline moves quickly and engages you. The Nephilim have shown up in other stories and makes one wonder if the Bible might not be a better history book than it is given credit for. The characters in the story continue to build and grow from the previous books. Very enjoyable.
I've read all 3 books in this series and loved all 3. The way Mr Sneeden brings in parts of the bible surprised me but I liked that. His writing style, he describe s things to the point that you feel like your there, I've never read a book so descriptive. Great read, hard to put down!!!
The second book is by far the best, the plot ran super thin in this one and this was shorter than the other books or certainly felt so. Also very abrupt and also very easy- the adventure wasn't exactly as high as the second book. Can ignore this book to be honest, and it wouldn't make a difference.
I enjoyed reading The Hades Conspiracy, it was very interesting how the author used different factors from the Bible to increase the story, once I started reading couldn't put it down very well written, Ready to start the next adventure with Zane and the of the team.
Here is an integrity story set to a biblical perspective! Was there the possibility of an actual underworld/hell as the bible characterized it? Well one would have to read this to at least have an understanding of what the author was laying out! I found it insightful and very entertaining to read. Looking forward to the next book!
Sometimes you read for education or stimulation, but I think that most of the time we read for pure entertainment--this was pure entertainment! I will certainly follow this author and the book series. Recommended!!
One of the most important aspects of a story is that no uncouth language is used by the characters in the story. The plot moved along quite nicely. The conclusion was exciting!
