Just finished reading this book. What an amazing poetry collection.this book was so peaceful and wonderful. i love reading poetry for the single reason that it expresses all my thoughts and feelings inside my head that i have no words for.i highly recommend if you are into poetry...

i preferred then arabic to the english, but they were quite wonderful

Maryam Yousef's words and ideas are magical and they illicit deep feelings. The poems do not fail to resonate within the reader no matter when this beautiful collection is being read. This book will mend something in the reader that the reader did not even know needed fixing. She uses the sky, stars, sun, moon, nature, and many other common symbols of literary devices and weaves them into these novel magnificent recreations of what is normally mediocre metaphors, similes, symbols, imagery etc. She really stuck her heart out in this, you can read blood between the lines. I would have rated this book with 5 stars if it were not for the translations. Although a few of the english translated poems were better than the arabic, the arabic ones were definitely more superior in terms of fluency and clarity and they made more sense. The rhyme of the arabic poems was elegant and flowed nicely. The flaw I disliked in this book is that I would start reading the english poem and it wouldn't make sense, so I would have to switch to reading the arabic poem first then come back to the english one. The translation isn't on point and I believe lots of meaning is lost as the translation is sometimes inaccurate or does not match the arabic version. All in all, I would most certainly read more of Yousef's work if she publishes anything in the near future.
