Nothing in Layla and Max's world will ever be the same.

Since Max left, and joined his father in the Shadow Realm, everything in Layla's life has changed. The Demon Gods threaten to destroy the Otherworld, and an inconceivable darkness has awakened—a darkness that wants control of Layla's will. It also wants Max ... dead. Not only must Layla face the true fire simmering inside her, but fight the one she loves most.
And this time, with her friends and family left behind, she's completely on her own.

Leaving Layla nearly destroyed Max, but it was his only choice. Now, he must play the part—stay in control of his end goal, his actions, and the poison coursing through his veins, clouding his thoughts, and turning him into what he fears most, a Demon God. But even with his Oghams fighting the toxins, his control is slipping. Living in the Fomore castle with his Vampyre Fae ex-girlfriend isn't making it any easier to stay sane, and waiting to face off against Layla is taking its toll.

In the final installment of the Fire Born Novels trilogy, the legendary Battle will be fought, and Layla and Max stand to lose everything. How far will they go to save each other and protect the ones they love? Even they don't know the answer.
No one can win.

From the ashes of old,
They shall rise.
The last of the Ancients,
Foe and Ally.
The Legend lies in wait,
And bides its time.
Until at last the day comes,
For the children born of fire.

I received this ARC from Jagged Lane Books via Netgalley in return for an honest review

“...The legend has come to fruition, the successor of the Triple Goddesses has risen. The true wielder of the flame."

Rating- 3.5 stars!

I’ll jump straight into the plot!

The ties are torn and truth is finally revealed.
War looms in the horizon.
Light and darkness will clash.
Lives will be destroyed in a mass of flaming wings.
Two lovers. Two enemies. Two pawns.
The Fire Goddess and the Prince of Shadows.
They will meet on the battlefield.
And as prophesied...
One will die.

Really enjoyed this one guys!

The first book i kept thinking, “hey this is nice, it’s different, I like it!”
And then we got to the second book and at that point I was more like “bleh.” And almost didn’t read this one because of it!

I’m glad I did though! This book was action packed, it didn’t ooze romance to an annoying degree like book two, but it was romantic in a cute way, not irratingly.

We get answers to all our questions too! I was literally so engaged that i read it in one afternoon when I sound have been doing assignments! But i just wanted to know what would happen!

SO as an overall, it was an entirely satisfying end to this series, if you’ve followed the first two books and was thinking to forgo the third, i’ll recommend to read it.

I think you’ll like it a lot.

So yea, I don’t want to say too much because i’m scared of spoiling some of it for you guys and that’d be a shame!

Stay Awesome!

**I would like to thank Netgalley, the Publisher and the author Laney Mcmann for a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion**

True is the third and last book in the Fire Born trilogy. Its always sad to end a series :-( You've gotten to know the characters and their world, its hard to let go.

But what a way to start the book, that scene with Lay and a blade, man. Through out the series Max and Layla had to fight to be able to be together. At times they even fought each other. Even though Lay didn't remember Max at first, these two had a connection, a history together and I think it was a very cute one.

In True they each had their own plan, sometimes things didn't work out the way they thought it would. Sometimes crazy things would happen, like having a vengeful ancient, and a crazy power obsessed being living in side of you and doing what ever they wanted. Mean while Lay had to get her cousin, get her friend, fight Max, stop a King, stop the curse by killing the Morrigan, save the realm, and not get killed during the whole process. What a problem. Lay was brave, she would sacrifice herself to save the others.

Let's talk a bit about the characters, we know that even though there was a little bit of drama with Lay , Max and Ana, we all were really rooting for Lay and Max to finally be together. I didn't know how things were going to work out, with the whole people dying thing happening, you think the worst. These two grew on me. Justice was such a great guy. I didn't like him at first, he was mean to Lay and kind of pushed her away but he also ended up growing on me. He cared and was very protective of Lay, I didn't know where that came from, I thought he served Max. He is and will always be there for Lay, how cute!!! :-) Tristan and Benny , well even though we didn't see too much of them in this book, I liked them, they were loyal to Lay and Max and would do anything to help them defeat the King, the Morrigan and the curse. Some people weren't that loyal. Yes there was some betrayal. How dare they, they were trusted, okay some of them were trusted at some point. Still how dare they, Lay and Max are the Fire Born dang it. We do find out what happens to everyone.

The Fire Born series was about finding out who Lay and Max really were, that they are stronger than they thought they were. It was about friendship, family, love, and loyalty, about bravery, about gaining and losing. A lot of things happened. Teine and MacCoinnich went through a lot at such a young age and Lay and Max relived it and made it their own with a different ending :-) I really enjoyed reading this trilogy and I though it was an adorable ending, did you read that ending? So cute. It made me happy for everyone. Great book, great series, now I'm off to mourn these books and characters :-(

Oh one more thing

I have been obsessed with this series for forever! The author loved me enough, seriously I will kiss her if I ever meet her, that she sent me an autographed paperback copy for me to read early. Let me tell you how I made noise when I opened that package. LOL But back to goodness. There has been so many things that happened in this series. Which I immediately went back and read books one and two before I cracked open book three. I seriously had doubts that Max and Layla would ever be able to have love, real love, with everything going against them. And I'm not ashamed to say I cried like a baby at the end. Seriously. Wept. Ugly, red, snotty, cried. And it was the most beautiful ending I think I've ever read. But I should have expected this, because this author is seriously talented. I never was one for angels. I do love me some demons. But this is more along the myths. With demi gods and the Morrigan, and demons, and so much much more. It's so hard to tell you things without going into detail or giving spoilers for the first two books or ruining this one for you.

*sigh* This is the end of Max and Layla. And all of the people who have surrounded them that we've come to love. Max went to hell to save Layla. Layla went to hell to save Max. Oh, and there's some kickers that will blow your mind. Who each of their parents are. What the curse really means. What happened in the past to make this all come to happen. Who each of their families are and what that means for the whole world. And it comes down to this. King Elethan will do anything to make sure he gets the power over all, no matter who he has to kill to get that. It comes down to Max and Layla. For this to happen, one must kill the other. So, King E has Max already, he sends for Layla to come into his territory to train for the battle. He says it's courtesy. LOL!! And he knows the Morrigan is with Layla, so he will get what he wants with her as well.

I swear Justice, Benny, and Tristan are my favorite characters. I know I love Max and Layla, it's a given because of who and what they are. But seriously, I loved our little posse that had their backs for this whole journey. Justice became me serious crust in this whole thing. Can I have him!! They all changed so much. Layla went from a girl who thought she lost her mind and her memories, Max went through the boyish I will do it even if it kills me, to I will love you and I will stand by you no matter what. Benny probably changed the least, but that's ok because she was awesome as is. Justice and Tristan grew because they finally came out of their shells. Literally, seeing as what they were LOL. When it came to the end, other than crying, I think I was just breathless. Because this series is seriously that good.

There are no words with the writing. It's something magical when words on a page can make you feel so much. This author has magic in her fingers, and brain. :) She made the world for this story so believable. And coveted. I want to be there with them. I felt I was. And she also made it simple in all its complexity- TRUE. Be who you are, love conquers evil, the light will always chase away the dark. You just have to fight for it. This is beyond a magical journey of fictional characters. This is a beautiful story that will hold true through time just like Max and Layla did. Oh I made a pun LOL But on a serious note. READ THIS SERIES!!! If I could tell you of a series everyone should read, it's this one. Because it's just that awesome. And there's no PAWS here. I mean come one, there's aren't enough clicks for a rating here. I need infinite. My expectations were blown out the water with this ending and I couldn't have said it enough! Asolutely, wonderfully, magnificent 6 PAWS, that rare rating I throw out because it really earned it!

I know I have said this in my first two reviews of this series that Laney McMann is one of my favourite authors ever since I have started the Fire Born trilogy... After reading her first book I was like why isn't she famous! People need to READ her books! I'm totally loving this trilogy! TRUE is the last book and I am darn sad beacuse this trilogy was so special to me!

TRUE had more focus on action this time. The world and character building was on point and the writing style was insane. And Max!!!!! (So much devoted to his girl!!) I enjoyed the last book a lot. There were so many exciting scenes! What I was like while reading the last pages: Stomach in knots, body sweating, fingers crossed, praying in the head, whispering for someone to get alive, wishing for someone's death! Laney McMann did this to me with the way she has written the last pages and ILOVED it!
And obviously where there are Layla & Max, there is always that sweet romance! Their relationship was seriously strong this times and they didn't care for anything although their relationship was super duper tensed. Max has tried resisting Layla before but obviously he failed! There was this little negative thought in my head that one of my favourite characters would die (*sobs)! Layla and Max's chemistry was speechless and I loved how they struggled to be together again.
Another beautiful quality of TRUE is that it doesn't just focus on romance, there is so much magical action that you'll find yourself engulfed in the book. There was so much character building which is one of my favourite aspects of a perfect novel.
Overall, I totally fell in love with TRUE! Laney has written this story so uniquely. There were so many POVs, so that's another reason why I felt connected to all the main characters plus the pace was fast too! I don't know if you have read Laney McMann's books but you need to check out this trilogy! There is maybe going to be a Fire Born novella so I'm way too much..... excited!

So Layla and Max's story ends. . . *Sniff*

What a ride this book was.

It takes hold of your heart and take you through several emotions that I didn't know a book could hold the power to give.

This book is an amazing conclusion to a series that has, quiet honestly, gotten better with every instalment throughout

Layla had to walk a hard road, to find out her true self, who she truly is. Justice is Layla's constant companion and they have formed a true friendship. We also find out about how Sam and Justice were born to serve and protect the Fire Born.

We learn more about the angels, about Layla and Max's past life, and their ties. Layla and Max's chemistry was speechless and I loved how they struggled to be together again.

The Morrigan's real agenda comes out and the true loyalties of many come to the surface. By no means is it easy going for anyone, but they all seem to be determined to get the outcome they want.

We get answers to all our questions too!

"Upon the twenty-ninth day of the seventh month,

the black moon shall rise, and the ashes must fall, as the White Raven flies.

One day must pass, for the last to descend,

merging the lost, unto which the reign will approach it's end.

On the thirty-first day, as Lilith comes,

under the Crone's Waning Moon, undo what has been done."

The Author did not disappoint her readers.

Although at times I thought this was it, the end left you breathless and at a lost of words.

SO as an overall, it was an entirely satisfying end to this series, if you've followed the first two books and was thinking to forgo the third, I’ll recommend to read it.

This book is a wonderful conclusion to a series that has, quiet honestly, gotten better with every installment. True picks up trucking down the literary highway at somewhere north of 120 miles per hour. You don't have to warm up to this story at all, Torn left you begging for more and True fulfills the need. There is one particular scene early in the novel that blew my mind. No joke, I had to put down my reading device and walk around for a minute.

True is everything a book 3 should be. A solid ending to a series that has taken you on an emotional roller coaster with more than one gut punches along the way for good measure. If you've read the first two, STOP READING THIS REVIEW RIGHT NOW AND START READING TRUE. If you haven't read the first two books, STOP READING THIS AND GO BUY TORN. You won't be disappointed. I know I wasn't.

I was looking forward to reading the conclusion to this series since I finished the second book. And while I cannot say that it was epic by any means, it was definitely a fantastic end.

All of the characters were engaging to read about (I actually didn't get aggravated by any of them this time around) and even when riddles and complications were everywhere, things seemed to flow well. The worlds we visit are still vividly described and while I may have been able to easy put this story down, I was still always curious as to what would happen next.

Finding themselves on opposing sides for the first half of the book, nothing is easy for either Max or Layla. Though I think it was harder for Max because he knew he wasn't on the Fomore's side while Layla still thought he betrayed her. Not helping Layla is what happens to her at the beginning . Justice is Layla's constant companion and they have formed a true friendship. We also find out about how Sam and Justice were born to serve and protect the Fire Born. Justice actually was sworn only to Layla specifically. We learn more about the angels, about Layla and Max's past life, and their ties. The Morrigan's real agenda comes out and the true loyalties of many come to the surface. By no means is it easy going for anyone, but they all seem to be determined to get the outcome they want.

We pick up with Layla on her way to the Fomore castle to fight Max and him working really hard to not blow his cover. Right away Layla does something crazy and sets things into motion that she doesn't understand and can't really control. Max can't believe she's there, but what surprises him most is how much she has changed. It's not too long until he finds out why though. Everybody is scheming something but Max is the first one who slips and it doesn't end well. There's a lot of death and much worry for some, but things need to be done. Layla plays her part while trying to figure a way out of it, three people are determined to save her, and Max has also undergone a change. The same as Layla, but no where need as drastic it seemed. Bad things happen left and right, more people die, some people come back, and the Fire Born prophecy is finally fulfilled.

The ending was most definitely the best part. It really sucked me in and had me wanting to find out how the whole thing was going to be going down. I was not surprised at who Agrona turned out to be though...somewhere along the line it popped in my head wondering if it was really her. The epilogue was also really sweet.

In the final installment to the Fireborn series Layla and Max must fight for what they believe in, while trying to make it back to one another. As Layla is discovering more and more about herself she becomes a woman who is fit to someday be Queen. Max is fighting to play his part while preparing to battle Layla.

This final installment was a strong ending. I absolutely loved reading from Max's point of view. I for some reason tend to love books that switch between point of views. Maybe it's because I feel that one character sometimes becomes tedious depending on the story and character. But mixing it up between two different POVs makes it a lot more entertaining.

It was interesting to see Layla trying to consolidate between Layla and Teine, and how that unfolded had me wanting to read more. I honestly love this series for the folklore. I've said it in my previous reviews for these books but for me that is the strong suite. I love, love, love the back story that comes along with the Ancients and why Max and Layla have their powers and their Oghams. I feel like I wouldn't need a story with as much action and adventure if it were just the folklore that is within this series.

Layla had a hard time in finding herself. Layla’s constant friend is Justice. There is a crazed ancient who is a power obsessed being living inside Layla which didn’t make it easy on her. Layla had lost Max and she assumed the darkness had taken him. There is a poison going through Max’s veins and he is trying to fight it as he doesn’t want to become a demon God. Max now lives in the Formore castle knowing he and Layla would have to face off.
I didn’t really enjoy this but i need to read the other two stories first. What I read wasn’t bad but I won’t rate it as I want to read the other books of the series then retry this one.
I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.
