Right so I have to say this book does have a scene with another man but it's just that a scene. I don't what to give the plot twist away but it's not all that it appears to be. If you don't read to the end of this book then you won't be able to effectively understand it. Originally, when that scene happened I was thinking Going on and on about how much of a jerk the hero was and how he was corrupting the heroine. A sweet little victim of circumstances. And I was ready to honestly say... However, at the end I was surprised If you can get beyond that moment and wait for the end, then this book is worth it and is perfectly safe. If you quit it in the middle, than you will always see it as unsafe. So it's up to you here. CAN YOU WAIT FOR YOUR PLEASURE? I STRONGLY recommend that you read this book to the end. I DID NOT see the end coming at all. I really enjoyed the short book but ultimately I couldn't give it more than a 2.5 or half a rating, because for me this book was honestly half of a story. I wanted more information at then end. A few more details would have been appreciated. However, since I was surprisingly entertained and engaged I will bump it up to 3 stars.
Worth a read but not a reread! HOT AND SEXY! Read it and see for yourself!!!
Thanks, Goodreads friends (you know who you are) for giving that extra push for me to read this one until the end! xx
This is a short read but I liked it, I wish it had been longer but what's here is good. Well maybe with the exception of one scene I just didn't think fit in with the rest. Angelique Stammer is twenty years old and she's home from college taking a break when she hears raised voices, she finds her father arguing with his boss and friend Jace Landon. Turns out he owes Jace a lot of money and Jace wants it back "This is my new offer, Mr. Stammer,” he said, not taking his eyes off Angelique. "You have two weeks to get me the money you owe me. In the meantime, I’ll hold your daughter as collateral.” With no objections from her father Angelique leaves with Jace. I expected this to be a short smut read but to be honest it's more than just sex. I liked the characters, although he blew a bit hot and cold at times. The only part I didn't like was the club scene, well to be honest it wasn't that I didn't like it I just didn't feel it fit in with the book. As a rule I'm not a fan of really short reads but I was curious about this and I'm also looking forward to 'Stepdaddy Stripper' when it's released on the 28th November.
I liked this short read. It read like an AR book but not as OTT. I liked the characters, the sex was good but there needed to be more to classify as a smut read. It had a big twist at the end I did not see coming, it was a nice change up from my usual reads and I would gladly read more from this author.
This book isn't for me. It was an ok read. I thought the characters came off cold and lacked any deep emotional connection. There were also noticeable errors--most glaringly, a mare is not a gelding.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I expected this to be a pretty straightforward girl-sold-to-pay-off-debt story with some hot, schmexy times, but it was a mess of contradictions, and the dialogue needs some fine-tuning.
First, it's really short, which I'm fine with, but too much is packed in there, and some of it doesn't make a lick of sense. There's one scene in particular that just needs thrown out completely. It's put in to ramp up the hot factor, but it's in direct conflict with Jace's possessive nature, and directly after the scene, he's all butthurt that it happened. This makes zero sense since he's the one that initiated and forced the issue, but whatevs...
Then there's some of the dialogue that had me wondering if Angel was missing a few brain cells... "Well, don't laugh...but I want to write a book." "What would you write about?" "Don't laugh, okay?" I double checked with him. "Never." "I want to write books. I know it's dumb, isn't it?" Well, the fact that she wants to write books isn't dumb, but answering the question about what she wants to write about with "I want to write books" kinda is. Does she want to write books about wanting to write books??
Sold to My Father's Friend is Cara Chance's debut release. And let me tell you, it was all kinds of hot n' steamy with a side of risqué...just how I like it!!
Angelique 's father, Mr. Stammer, owes a debt to Jace Landon. Jace has come to the family home, looking to collect on that debt. Once he sets eyes on Angelique, the terms of repayment have been slightly altered. Jace decides that he is going to hold Angelique ransom, until Mr. Stammer can come up with the cash to pay it off.
Angelique is innocent and unsuspecting, in the way that she has no clue why her father would owe Jace money. When it comes to men, she's very inexperienced and has no idea what is expected of her in this new role she's been thrust into. All she knows is that Jace is one hell of a sexy man and she's attracted to him, even when she shouldn't be. She is his prisoner. This should be wrong, but there is something so right about it.
Jace is hard to, read at first, he doesn't show much emotion. Eventually he lets her in little by little.
This was a quick read and I enjoyed it immensely. My only complaint would be that it wasn't long enough. I really liked Angelique and Jace together and wanted more of them. The chemistry was amazing and left me begging for more!
I will definitely be reading more from Cara Chance! She can definitely turn up the heat! All in all, this was a great debut book and I look forward to reading more from Cara in the future!!
I signed up for a early review of this book and with some family issues I was unable to meet the deadline. With that being said I'm so glad I got to read this little gem. Its super short with only 87 pages. I really loved the story line. This is not a dark read. I wish Cara Chance would write a full length novel about these two characters. Angelique's father owes his friend Jace money. He doesn't have the money owed and Jace decides to take Angelique home with him until he gets his money. This was a super short novella but the story line was great and the characters were great. I really wish it was longer so we could know more about each character and then the story could become more complete. This is a short review for a short book but it was a good one. If you are looking for a hot little read pick this one up I don't think you will be disappointed. 3.5 stars
Sold to My Father's Friend would have been a better read for me if I didn't feel like there were so many details left out that could've add more 'meat' to the story. For instance: -Why does Jace run from any kind of feelings? Was he hurt in the past? -Why was his business kept secret majority of the book? -Angelique's parent seemed to hold such a large grudge against her, what brought this on? It can't just be that she dropped out of college.
Although this is a short read, I honestly felt as if I was reading different snippets from other pieces. There was no fluidity to this story. Right when I would start getting into the scene it would change and go on to another path.
I thought the story was pretty good for it being Cara's first book. The events took place rather quickly and although some scenes seemed rushed I did enjoy them. You can clearly see that Jase is not as cold as he makes himself out to be. I did enjoy seeing the chemistry between both him & Angel. The ending seem to just jump ahead a bit and although it closes some mystery at the same time I feel I'm left with a few questions. Was a quick read but I liked it.
This book was kinda a surprise. one into another one. the plot was okay and the ending was good surprise. But it would be better if there were some more drama into the story. it felt a bit easy/flat.
I felt generous and gave this 3 stars, although my main complaint is that it was too short for developing the characters and carrying the plot-line, which gave me the sensation of being rushed. Otherwise it was a good quick read.
I was drawn in by the blurb...honestly, I couln't wait to read it. I have SO very many on my list, but this one went right to the top....and it was finished lickety split. This was super short, sexy and left me wanting so very much more. You know how all these authors are including warnings? This blurb kind of does...but what it should include is something along the lines of insta-love and super short. I was expecting sexy (which it was in places) and intrigue, dark and dirty with a bad boy...what I got was super short, some sexy and no way to connect with the characters or really get into the story line...I kept waiting for more. It felt rushed and honestly like the sexiest parts of 5 books just thrown together. When it was over I was still firmly entrenched in expectation land and wholly disappointed... If I'd only read a couple of reviews first, maybe I would have been clued into the fact it was so short that the story line never really got a chance to develop into that smoldering, intriguing, dark and deliciousness that it really could have been. Obviously the blurb was RIGHT THERE. Sexy, dark, intriguing...I just wish it would have carried over into the story. I can't wait for another of her stories though...I think they've got the potential to be really good.... 3 Stars
This was a short quick read that I wished it was dark. Angelique’s father owes a debt he stole 5 million dollars from Jace Landon's company so Jace takes Angel until he comes up with the money. Jace Landon comes from money he is also a hot sexy alpha male who likes to give pain while giving pleasure. When the story first started I thought that he was a mob boss and so did Angel she didn't know what he father did for a living so after dropping out of college she is sleeping in her old bedroom she here's her father and Jace arguing when she goes down stairs she never thought that she would be taken. I kept reading and waiting for the dark things to happen it never did turns out Jace's family owns Astin Martin or at least 80% of it and owns a publishing company. Angel is shocked to find out that her father stole 5 mil from him. The next sex scenes in this book was hot and the club scene was really good. The problem for me with this book was that it was fast and a lot of things were left out like Jace's feelings for Angel why he wanted to make her his. They way the book ended they had a baby did they get married and what happened to her father after Jace dropped the charges against him. This was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading more from her.
Cara Chance is new to me but like my love for this trope, she is a new one I will be watching for. I loved taboo. I crave forbidden. I love the almost impossible. Cara gave me a steam romance that had me racing to turn the pages.
Sold To My Father's Friend was a fast read and as you can imagine, hotter than sin. This book was full of secrets, desires, lust, and insta-love. Older Dominant male. Young innocent heroine. Oh yeah you get the idea...
Angelique and Jase were a match from the start... even when she was in denial. There coming together was unsual... for many I am sure but it worked for them on so many levels. These two also lit of my kindle and Jase practically had me panting... maybe drooling too.
If you like taboo, forbidden, quick, dominant, and dirty then this is the book for you!
I wanted to like the story, but it just wasn't possible with little to no character development, a loose plot, and a shaky (at best) story arc. The characters would feel an emotion, and that was it. Bam. Done. Because it said so, they were angry, or sad, or in love. There was no development to reach those places. There was very little flow between plot points, leaving each occurrence very blunt and without finesse. The sex was okay, but again, it was difficult to feel a connection to actions which came from very flat characters.
Cara Chase is a new author to me but after reading what this book was about, there was no way I wasn't reading it. I'm so glad I took a chance on this book! Not only did I find a great read, I also found a great author ☺
I loved Angelique and Jace! Jace was very easy to fall in love with.... Still swooning.
WARNING: there's some pretty hot scenes in this book, you may not want to read in public!
Sold to My Father’s Friend by Cara Chance was a quick, easy, and fun read. It is full of insta-love, a bit of a forbidden romance, light BDSM, sizzle, an Alpha-type male, a young inexperienced leading lady who is still trying to figure out what she wants from life- as well as lots of drama, angst, and passion. Angelique Stammer recently moved back home after dropping out of college. She’s a little lost and hasn’t quite figured out what her next move should be, when her fathers bad dealings results in her being ‘sold’ to the man her father is indebted to. She is indignant and defiant. But he’s sexy, smooth, dominant, and much more experienced. Temptation soon follows… so what happens, you ask? Well, you really should grab yourself a copy and read all the enticing details for yourself. The story is a little predictable in places, but that definitely didn’t detract from this entertaining read. I look forward to reading more from Cara Chance!
3.75 Stars to Sold To My Father's Friend by author Cara Chance.
Angelique (Angel) and Jase.......
This was a short, sexy, steamy read. Sold To My Father's Friend was the debut book by this author. That said, for a first book, I thought it was good and I would definitely like to read more from this author.
The premise of this story can easily be described in the book's title. Angel's father owed Jace a lot of money for reasons you will discover in the book. After one glance at Angel, Jace demands Angel as collateral for the owed funds.
Jace gives Angel a beautiful room in his lavish and expansive mansion, then proceeds to ignore her. Then he avoids her. Angel and Jace's relationship went from tense and uncomfortable, to intrigue and interest, and then intimacy. I thought the intimate scenes were well-written for a first book. That said, there was one incident I did not care for, although that is just my preference and may not be yours. But after that incident, I had a difficult time believing their feelings for each other were real.
The ending was okay but I thought it felt rushed and I would have like to see more in the way of development, including main and secondary characters. I thought if the book was longer or if there was an epilogue instead of a jump in time I wouldn't have felt like something was missing.
Still, for a debut book, I enjoyed it. And as I mentioned earlier I will definitely read more from this author. I am looking forward to see how her writing talent develops and grows.
EMBELLISH : Make a story more interesting or entertaining by adding extra details, especially ones that ARE NOT TRUE.
I wrote the above definition because I was a little annoyed after reading some of the reviews for this book. I don't want to spoil anything by saying too much so all I'm gonna say is "things aren't always as they appear to be" and leave it at that. This is a debut novella from Cara Chance and personally I thought it was really good. Was it short ? Yes. Was it instalove ? Yes. And it clearly states in the blurb ; "*Instalove, Short, quick read, Light BDSM, Hot Sex, Alpha Male, HEA* All that being said I really don't understand why people are bitching about it being short and having instalove when it clearly says it before it even tells you what the book is about. This book reminded me a little bit of the Forced Submission Series by Alexa Riley and His To Have by Jade Sinner. Angelique (Angel) is 20 years old in a few weeks she'll be 21 and she's recently quit college and moved back with her parents. They are not happy with her quitting school but Angel doesn't care because her dream is to write a book. One night she gets woken up by a slamming door and then she hears people shouting at each other. She sneaks downstairs to see what's going on and sees her Father arguing with a man that looks vaguely familiar. The man notices her and is looking at her very intently and she gets chills from head to toe. She soon learns that her Father owes the man money and that she will become his collateral for two weeks while he comes up with the money. Angel is shocked and angry and expects her Father to refuse but he tells her to pack her stuff and that she'll be fine. I'm gonna end with that because I don't want to spoil anything so I'm just gonna say read the book to the end it is worth it. If you don't like short books and instalove then you shouldn't read this book but if you read it anyway don't bitch about it later and deduct stars for those two reasons because you were warned ahead of time.
Sold To My Father's Friend by Cara Chance is her debut novel. The synopsis of the story and cover intrigued me to read it. This being Cara's debut her writing was great, the story was enjoyable, the sex scenes were off the charts hot! I enjoyed the characters, but for me and this is my opinion only, I didn't connect with them right away it took me a while, when I did the story was over. The length of the story isn't very long and had it of been longer I believe the author could have developed the characters and gone more in depth with the story between Jace and Angelique. Overall it was an enjoyable and quick read. I'm curious what Cara has up her sleeves in the near future.
Angelique's father owes a debut to Jace Landon, a friend of the family. He has finally come to collect what is owed to him. Angel walks in on the two of them in a heated confrontation and one thing leads to another, Angel finds herself in the hands of mysterious and dangerous man. Scared and left alone with him Angel has no idea what will become of her.
Jace is a man not to be messed with he doesn't ask, he's demanding, he's intimidating and doesn't take shit from anyone. Deep down he does have a soft side to him one he doesn't show often. He never expected to be in the situation he's in now, he wanted the money owed to him, not a girl who is sweet and innocent. Now that he has her what will he do with her, how long will keep her, will he fall for her, will Angel give into his desires? So many unanswered questions ones that I'm not revealing you'll have to read it for yourself to find out.
Sold To My Father's Friend is the debut novel from author Cara Chance. The cover and blurb instantly grabbed my attention. How could they not? Both are intriguing and sexy.
The premise behind the story is that Angelique's father somehow owes a debt to a 'friend.' Walking into the middle of a confrontation between the two men, she soon finds herself in the clutches of the very sexy and mysterious Jace Landon. And that's as much as I'm going to share about the story itself because I don't want to ruin it for anyone who has yet to read it.
I really did enjoy this story. I loved both of the characters, but I didn't fully connect with them. And that's maybe because of the length of the story, so the author couldn't go into enough depth into the character development. It is a very short, quick read, and I did feel it was a tad rushed. I truly believe this story would've been amazing had it been a little longer.
If it lacked character development, it certainly didn't in sexual chemistry because holy cow the scenes between Angel and Jace were smoking hot! He was demanding, domineering, and the perfect alpha, but he could also be soft and sweet, not often but it did happen.
So if you're looking for a quick, sexy, alpha read. Sold To My Father's Friend is the book for you. I'm so glad to have gotten the opportunity to read it and I look forward to future work from this new author.
This was a good debut by Cara Chance. Sometimes I love books that are insta-love, short, sweet, and of course quite sexy and this book is all the above.
Angelique’s father owes a debt to Jace. Their family is about to lose everything if the debt can’t be paid, but Jace has a solution to the problem. He wants Angelique. Being left no choice, Angelique goes with Jace. She has so many questions and so much frustration for the situation her father put her in. She wants the debt paid so she can go back to her normal life. What Angelique wasn’t expecting was the feelings she has towards Jace. What happens when the lines start to blur? Can she resist his temptation or will consume to the desires her body craves?
This book is very fast paced. Angelique is a bit naïve but a super lovable character, and Jace is a total alpha male in every way. He will melt your panties right off. There is also a huge twist I didn’t see coming. Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and I look forward to the next.
A very good short story! Angel overhears her father yelling and sneaks downstairs to investigate. What she finds is her dad and his boss in a shouting match. When they see her, Jace - her father's boss and supposedly family friend - is immediately drawn to her. He informs her to upstairs, pack a bag because she is going home with him to settle a score with her dad! In shock and upset Angel does just that and shortly after finds herself in a sleek car, flying down the road with a stranger heading to his home to an unknown future. But are either one ready for the the outcome of Jace's impetuous actions; a hasty move which will undoubtedly changes their lives forever? Is it a good or bad move? Does he regret his actions? What of Angel: with her sense of family and security broken how does she react to Jace and his demands?
I thoroughly enjoyed this short story and for a 1st time author, I feel she did good and I would definitely love to read her next project! However, as an avid reader, I must say I felt the story was rushed to it's conclusion. I don't do spoilers so I will simply say that I would have loved to see the storyline completed with the same eye for detail in which it started.
Sold to my father’s friend is Cara’s new short story that was just released. I kept seeing the teaser’s popping up everywhere and just the title alone intrigued me. You get what you see from this title. The book starts off to the point right away about Angelique (Angel) being “sold” to Jace, her father’s friend. Her father has been into a lot of shady dealings and a debt he owes to Jace is just the icing on the cake. Angel has no choice to leave with Jace or her family will lose everything.
The sexual tension rolls off both Angel and Jace when they are near each other. Angel gets to explore a whole new sexual world while staying with Jace. He will open new heights of pleasure with a little bit of pain for Angel. But can they have this no strings attached relationship? This is a temporary arrangement, but can they end it all when time is up? The story was well written and I feel these characters were well developed. The ending threw me off just a little as I was not expecting the illusion. This is a great short story read. I gave this story a 4 star rating.
Sold to My Father's Friend sets the tone for the mood that Cara Chance wants all her readers to get into when reading her books. A short and steamy read. Sold to My Father's Friend explores what it means to find yourself in a situation you never thought possible, and how undeniable chemistry can blossom in the most unsuspecting circumstances. Guaranteed a happy ever after, Cara Chance's debut into erotica is hot, exciting, and intriguing.
When Angelique becomes payment for her father's debt, her life changes in more ways than one. Taken away from her family and holed up in the luxurious mansion of Jace Landon, young and unexperienced Angelique is shown a different world. A world she didn't realise she would fall in love with. Bringing together the Alpha Male and the innocent heroine Sold to My Father's Friend has all the ingredients for sweet smutty goodness.
Looking forward to what other taboo situations Chance will put her characters in, if you love a quickie this author and her books are exactly what you need in your life.
Sold To My Father’s Friend is a standalone by Cara Chance. Her father owed a debt and she was about to pay for it.
Angelique must obey her master, Jace of she’ll never be free of the debt her father owes.. The bigger question is what she’ll have to do to gain her freedom, but will her heart survive.
Wow. Cara Chance is a new author to me, but this standalone just knocks it out of the park. Everything from a wonderful storyline to off the charts chemistry. When I realized that this story was short and fast paced, I was a bit worried, but she managed to pull everything off. Every page has me rooting for Angelique and Jace even if the circumstance for their relationship wasn’t exactly normal. Even though I enjoy the norm books, I find going off script can be just as rewarding. Which is exactly what Cara Chance did. I look forward to seeing what else Cara Chance has in store for us readers.
Sold To My Father's Friend was a very steamy short story! Scorching hot that left me weak in the knees.
Angelique's father owes Jace Landon a great amount of debt. Now he has come to collect. So he takes his most precious daughter Angel. This book was filled with lust, sex, and most unexpected...Love!
I could not get enough of Jace. Tough as nails alpha male. Oozes sex appeal. Brings shy and innocent Angel out of her shell. Shows her what it's like to be bad! No naughty.....
Cara Chance did a great job with the writing of this story. I could not put it down, and the risqué sex scenes. Wow, I am in need of a fan. Very HOT!
Can Jace resist such temptation? What will Angelique do in order to pay off her fathers debt?
Read to find out.

“Sold To My Father's Friend” is an Ovary combusting inferno!!! One so salacious, that it may cause you to overheat, combust, or even bring fire to your panties. Poof right off! Yes I loved the debauchery, the heat, the taboo and the romance of it all. A quick naughty read that fulfilled my dirty mind.
