Second chance? Yeah, right. Our life was a fairy tale. I was the princess in the tower and Victor was the brave brash prince who came to rescue me. It started a whirlwind romance. Everything was perfect. I accepted his proposal. We set a date. Then I learned my lesson. It all went to $&*% and I had to learn to rescue myself. I built a business empire, started a new life, and swore off men. Now he's back in my life and wants back in my heart- and my bedroom. Oh, and he's working for my business rivals trying to destroy everything I've built. It should be easy to tell him where to stick it, but just the sight of him brings those old feelings back. He has the body of a god and an attitude to match, but he swears up and down it was all lies, he really does love me- and I'm in danger. So that's it- if I trust him again, I could lose everything. Do I still believe in love?
This was another holiday last minute read, I didn't have chance to check reviews or even the blurb so I wasn't sure exactly what to expect (the book I'd intended to read just wasn't working for me)
It starts with Victor who we meet after he's been released from prison after serving 5 years, he's returning to his old home to reclaim/steal his car back. And It's obvious from the start there's a lot more going on here.
Evelyn is living in his old house, her father married his mother and the house now belongs to her. Initially its difficult to like Evelyn she appears to be completely cold and well unlikeable.
The story continues and Victor and Evelyn meet for the first time in 5 years and now we know they were a lot more than stepbrother and sister. As the story progresses we find out their history and how Victor lost 5 years of his life.
Evelyn had a lonely and abusive childhood and of course I felt sorry for her, she experiences life for the first time with Victor but... And it's a huge but. The more we learn about her father the more I disliked her for not seeing what he was and what he was capable of. She never even for a minute considered that Victor might not have done the things he was accused of. With how they'd been together how could she not see what was right before her eyes She knows her father better than anyone and it's obvious early on he's going to get rid of Victor one way or another.
Victor was young I know but again he was so easily manipulated.
Being totally honest I never really warmed to Evelyn and that's a huge problem for me because in a romance I personally have to like the characters and even though I know she's suffered I just felt Victor deserved more, he deserved someone who would believe in him and stand by him.
For a lot of this book I was annoyed and frustrated but it occupied me for the flight home. I did feel it was a little OTT at times especially towards the end.
#### Although I didn't read the blurb before reading I've read it now and it states:
'Our life was a fairy tale. I was the princess in the tower and Victor was the brave brash prince who came to rescue me. It started a whirlwind romance. Everything was perfect. I accepted his proposal. We set a date.'
The fact is he did buy a ring he did get down on one knee to propose but then all hell broke loose and so no date was set.
I got up and walked to her side, and dropped to one knee. A grin spread on her face, and that was all the answer I needed. I took the ring in its little box from my pocket. Then a spotlight hit me, blinded me, and Eve screamed. The world went crazy. It sounded like thunder, whup whup whup, but it was the blade of a helicopter. The blasting wind blew out the candles, knocked them over, and sent napkins flying from the table...

Have to give the author some major props for her style of writing. In the earlier pages she had me glued, sucked right into the storyline. At one point I'd thought the plot was about vengeance after an inheritance and a man's freedom was stolen. But that wasn't the case, Abigail Graham took us in a different direction. Anyhoo didn't love it because at time the plot was boring but can't say I hated it either. Enjoy!
I'd give this a 3.5... It was a good read but I found myself kind of losing interest with all the back story to process..everything was very descriptive but maybe to a fault. It was all just a bit much for me.
3.25 stars. This was just ok for me. Nothing wrong with it and its safe idk I think coming from what I just read I couldn't get into too much. I liked the H though:)
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. When I got this book I had no idea what it was all about I like this type of book but this one is a little different than others I have read in the past.
In this book we meet Victor and Eve. They met when Eve's father took her to meet Victor's mother, Eve's father was talking the very good possibility of marriage. Victor and Martin (Eve's dad) don't get along from the very beginning but Victor knows there is something about Eve that he just has to know more about. Victor knows he is a man with money and could get any woman but he also knows there is something special about Eve and knows it is not the money that has her coming to him but him just being himself. Things are not easy for Victor and Eve and the closer they get the more outside forces try and break them up. Something happens (you have to read the book to find out what ) that lands Victor in jail for 5 years his only concern Eve. Things are said at his trial though that make her doubt Victor.
In this story there are twists and turns people that you know are bad guys may be allies or may be people out to hurt them both. This story is so amazing I had problems putting it down. I was hooked from the first word to the very end. This is a must read book
I found Eve a bit too annoying to give this book four stars. The male love interest, Victor, was a winner from the very first page. His determination was hot. I was surprised with how dramatic the story was. It could almost be a murder/mystery if it wanted to be. Either way, it's started an obsession for reading Abigail Graham novels.
This is not the normal book I read, it's really intense. But I literally could not put it down. This is a "I'm-gonna-stay-up-all-night" and get 2 hours of sleep type of book, just to see what happens.....the plot and story were one of those.....way, way to good to put down.
Not sure where to start with this one.....uh, maybe with Victor aka Vic. Born filthy rich, a very loved but spoiled guy. His dad died when he was 12, so his mom raised him alone. His mom meets, dates and marries Evelyn aka Eve's dad.
Eve is a sweet and extremely, extremely sheltered girl who has been homeschooled and physically abused by her dad.....I'm talking beaten with a belt, scars to prove it kind of abuse. I loathed, loathed her f*cking prick of a dad.....there really is not enough character space on this review for me to state all the ways I despised him and all the things I would have liked to seen done to him. I can't stand when any type of abuse his done to children....at all.
Sorry, I digress. So, there is instant chemistry with Vic and Eve, I'm talking soul mate kind of chemistry. This book takes you through the present, the past and back to the present in a whirlwind romance that the f*cking prick is trying to ruin. Basically Vic is framed and has to do 5 years in prison for something he didn't do. In that time his mom too passes away and he has lost Eve as well. Please note, these 2 are never ever with other people during their separation....I felt this was very important information. They really are that in love. This story will take you through twist and turns that you did not see coming. I loved that she gives you the story from his and her points of view
I really, really enjoyed this book.....great read.
I liked how this started the heroine, Eve, came across as a really heartless, hard nosed business woman. The H, Victor, sounded like he was going to be great too. He had just been released from jail after serving 5 years for a crime he did not commit. Their first meeting was hot and intense. There backstory was very interesting. It was romantic and also covered abuse by Eve's father toward her. I could really connect to their love for each other. There was an unexpected twist in the story. BUT in the end nothing really happened or I should say what did happen was unsatisfying. It depends what you want from a story. I suppose I did not want Victor to forgive her so easily. She rediscovers her humanity straight after seeing Victor again. We do not see the 5 years after Victor went to jail where she lost herself and became a monster. So it is mainly tell not show. Maybe this is the nature of true love that Victor understands and forgives, but it takes from the excitement of the plot to have no real angst about it. There are interesting ideas within the story and a great villain in the father. There is some action, it just resolves too quickly for me.
Both h/H first person POV, unemotional and indifferent writing style in short sentences, like rattling off a grocery list. H/h are 29/28 years old and at first they act like that but later on they were more like immature teenagers. Very predictable story, it was obviously from the beginning who the villain was and what he had done (some authors let the readers know on purpose but here it's unintentional), h/H found out about 85% and were totally surprised and shocked. The action scenes at the end were absolute unbelievable and ridiculous, I felt like watching a really bad low-budget movie. The book had potential and the hero was likeable, despite his anger issues he was completely into the h, protective and in love from the beginning, hence I'll give 2 instead of 1 star.

I made it to 66% and then tapped out. First we had to wade through Eve's backstory, now it looks like we're going to have to wade through Vic's as well. The present day story was way more compelling and I didn't need, nor care for, these detailed flashbacks that took away from the momentum. I almost never DNF this late in a story, but it was all unfolding very predictably. I kind of hated Eve for not believing in Vic and I didn't need the nitty gritty details spelled out.
The book was good. Unfortunately wasn’t a great match with me. Very big plot and not so much a romance. They were cute when they were together, but the biggest chunk of the book I spent triggered. Okay book but nothing to write home about.
I received this book for an honest review. Eve grew up trapped in a cold, loveless house. Her dad is abusive and controlling not even allowing her to go to school instead homeschooling her with the help of tutors. Her whole life changes when her father announces he is getting married, what she didn't expect to find in this new marriage was to have feelings for her new "stepbrother". Victor is a former bad boy who turned his life around and fell for the one girl he shouldn't have, little did he know what it would cost him. They think they know what they are up against but do they really??? This book was rough for me mostly because Eve kind of grated on me at times. I get surviving I do but I don't get not fighting for what you love the fact she turns so easily on Victor was hard for me to swallow. Now Victor I adored, strong, determined, loyal he knows what he wants and isn't afraid to fight for it. The kind of man you want in your corner. The book was fast paced and had a lot of action and was well written. I thought there was a lot of potential for this story to keep you on the edge of your seat but I think the problem for me was the conflict never ended. It was like the book had one level of intensity and never left it so it didn't feel like there was a big build up to the climax of the story. I did think it was well written and I liked the different POVs I just would have preferred more softer moments to balance out the harder ones something to build the suspense for the big "BANG". This is a standalone so no cliffhanger.
I absolutely LOVE Abigail Graham's writing. She weaves such intricate stories with insanely interesting characters. Victor (Vic) isn't your typical bad boy in a step-brother romance. Yes, he's inked all over, drives too fast, and curses like a Sailor, but underneath it all he's intelligent and kind and will do anything for the woman he loves. Evelyn (Eve) starts her life out as a mild mannered girl who's been physically and emotionally abused by her father her entire life. After Vic is accused not only of embezzlement, insider trading, and a host of other financial crimes against his own company, but also carrying on an affair with someone who worked at the company right under Eve's nose. Five years later, he comes back for what seems like revenge against Eve, but really he's trying to clear his name and set things straight with the love of his life, one way or the other. Beautifully written, I loved reading their story of finding, losing, and finding each other again. I do wish that the flashbacks were more clearly marked so that I didn't get confused when they were suddenly talking about something that happened five or six years prior. And as an editor, it's difficult for me to get past spelling and grammar errors (forgive any in my review--I'm writing it on my phone and autocorrect isn't always our friend), but there weren't so many that it threw me out of the story. If Abigail ever needs a proofreader or beta in the future, I'm more than happy to volunteer as tribute. She's one of my new favorite authors.
This is not your typical step brother romance. After the first few pages you think, hot stepbrother getting out of jail going to get revenge and make the peeps pay for sending him when he was innocent. Not so much, this one took you into an altogether different way and I really enjoyed it. We had a twist that ended with the mafia being involved and the dad that killed everyone to get what he wanted.
I felt for Eve and wanted to kill her father myself. All those years of abuse and no one tried to stop it, not until Victor came along. He could tell from day one that the father wasn’t a good person. Vic’s goals, finish college, marry Eve, start a family, take care of his mom and finally rid the family of Martin. Little did he know that Martin had plans of his own and made sure that Vic would be separated from Eve.
Five years apart, we find Eve running the family business, being the cold hearted business woman. She is dubbed the Ice Queen because she is a tough business woman. Victor is released from prison and the first thing that he does is take back his car that once belonged to his dad. Even after all those years apart the fire and attraction between Victor and Eve is still alive and hot as ever. They been through out of crap and was glad to see that they got their HEA.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I’ll admit that it took a little bit to get into the story, but once I did, I really enjoyed it. It is a standalone that alternates POV between Eve and Victor. The story does flip flop between the present and the past, but I felt that the author did a good job keeping it straight. The copy I received had a lot of typos and editing issues in it, so I am not sure if this is the case with a purchased copy.
I really liked Eve and Victor. The way that the author wrote made me feel for Eve and everything she has gone through. There were some definite surprise twists and turns and shocking revelations throughout the book. The sex scenes were also pretty hot, so you’ll be in for quite a treat!
This is the first book I have read by this author. I look forward to reading more by her.
On a side note, those who may feel that stepbrother romance books are too taboo, I definitely wouldn’t feel that way about this book since Eve and Victor did not grow up together, so give this book a chance if you’re on the fence.
I was lucky enough to get a copy from the author. Eve has been abused by her father from a young age she is so afraid of him and it gets worse when she meets her stepbrother to be. Victor is a bad boy who has tatts and wants to live life. Martin her father will do anything and everything to stop them from being together. They fall in love and build a great relationship until Victor is framed and sent to prison for a crime that he did not commit. Eve is heart broken and she believes her father and Eve grows into a hard person who has no joy in her life. Victor has served his time and is out for Martin's blood but he will have to destroy Eve. The both still love each other can they stand together and bring him down. There are so many secrets that come out that will shock them both. This is a story of young love that rises above all the bad in their worlds. I really enjoyed this story.
I received an ARC , but that does not colour my review in any way. ★★★★★ Victor has just been released for prison, and is out to get revenge against the people responsible for putting him there. They have stolen everything that he holds dear from him. Eve has been brought up isolated from the world. Totally dominated by a brutal father. When he remarried there seemed to be light at the end of the tunnel. That doesn't last long, she is soon even more under his control. A good romantic suspense. Our hero you can love straight away, he is strong sexy and wounded. But our heroine comes across as a selfish bitch. ( that is what the author made her.) This is an adult book with, some violence and strong language. It is also an intense love story, with some very hot sex scenes. I would say it's got something for everyone.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book (given by the author)...
This book had love, loss, betrayal and mystery. I have to say a lot happened in this book and felt so bad for Victor and Eve. When Victor first meets Eve he feels that instant connection to her and does whatever he has to in order to have her forever. However, Eve is the most sheltered girl in the world, her father kept her isolated all her life and disciplined her severely for any reason. Eve's father is a disgusting person with a despicable attitude, but he also very clever. Our young lovers are torn apart do to set up and five years pass before they are reunited. But will their reunion be a smooth one or will it be a deadly one?
Loved the mystery and the steamy moments. Victor made me swoon with his ever, dating love for Eve.
Given this book for an honest review. For the first few pages I didn't think I was going to like this book. One of the main characters is Victor, an excon. He meets an old pal, a gray haired Doberman. The dog remembers Victor and the other Dobermans decide that Victor is an ok guy. Victor breaks into the garage and pulls the title from an old car. His name is still on the title. At this point, I decide that this book might be worth reading. While I enjoyed the book, it didn't hold my interest for 5 stars. I could guess what the rest of the book would reveal. Still, I was very interested in how Ms Graham was going to make everything right by the end of the book. It is a romance after all. I did shed a few tears for many of the characters.
**I received this bookin exchange for an honest review * *
This is actually the first step brother romance book I've read plus the first of this author I've read and wow! It's amazing! I'm not one to give spoilers away but I will tell you that this book has it all: romance, betrayal, murder, judicial system, a bit of mystery, and an awesome car! I love this book and am going to hunt down the rest of Abigail Graham's books very quickly. The only, and I mean ONLY reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is due to a few editing errors. There's maybe 5 throughout the book and they are usually 2 words switched, so nothing that is very bothersome while reading. You definitely need to give this book a try!!
I was given an Arc by the author for an honest review.
At the first few pages of the book i was really confused as i didn't understand what was happening. Also there are some grammatical errors in the book few words missing.
Other than that we have a really strong story filled with action, mystery and hot sex. The plot amazing with lots of twists and turns and keeps you on your seat wanting to know what will happen next. I found the characters really well developed and loved the chemistry between Eve and Victor (the main characters) An intresting story about money , love and death that i enjoyed greatly.

This is the first book from Abigail Graham that I have read. It very well written. Has a nice brisk pace and plenty of suspense and intrigue. I really enjoyed immersing myself in the characters and world Ms. Graham created.
The main characters Eve and Victor. Eve is a wounded lost soul who grew up being emotionally and physically abused by her father. Victor is a tattooed, foul mouthed bad boy with a tender heart. Victor and Eve fall hard for each other and must face one obstacle after another to be together. I really enjoyed ready this book.
Thank you Ms. Graham for allowing me the honor of ARC'ing for you.
Victor and Eve become step siblings when he is already in college and she will be starting in the near future. Victor transfers to the same college Eve is attending, and before long they are in a relationship. Eve's father is a cruel man and is determined to break them up.
I won't give to much information in this review. If you like corporate espionage, car crashes, murder, arson, gun fire, and let's not forget, really hot sex, you have to read this book! I loved it!
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair review.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a stepbrother romance--Evelyn's father marries Victor's mother. Evelyn has been very sheltered but has suffered abuse. Victor comes from a wealthy family and he is cocky and wild. I love Victor! Something happens and Victor goes to prison for five years. When he gets out, he wants everything that he lost back.
This is a really good read with a lot of suspense and surprises. It is also very steamy. I couldn't put this book down. I would like to read more by this author.
I received a free copy from the author for an honest review!
The synopsis gave a dark vibe, so I was expecting the dark aspect but the amount of hate Wow I could really feel the hate from Martin. The book was really well written, I expected to be kept on edge to the very end of what happened 5 years ago but I was pleasantly surprised. Current events flowed well into explanations of the past bringing us back into the present. I have seen a trend of step-sibling romances lately, and while this is one I think that it is distinctly different than the rest.
I loved this story. Well written (a few typos here and there, but not enough to ruin things), action packed and with a compelling love story. The book felt like it was about half present and half flashback, which may or may not bother you, but it was done well and it really gave the characters life. I think Abigail nailed the stepbrother genre with this one, with a great hate/love relationship, passionate characters, explosive action and some Russian mafiosos to boot.
I received this book as an ACR for an honest review. This is not your typical love story or a short story. This is a wonderful story of a girl who has been raised by an over protected father who is cruel and cold. Evelyn is young and know nothing of the world outside her home. Victor is a rich kid who has everything he ever wanted. This is their story of loss, love and survival. I could not put this story down, so I stay up all night to finish it. I love how the author changes from Evelyn's POV to Victors POV. I highly recommend this book to all readers. There is suspense and car chases and
