Family Catechesis is a buzzword these days! Families and religious education directors alike search for creative ways to teach the faith and engage the family in an intergenerational way. The seasons of the church year are a great opportunity for this. As a child, I particularly remember books that we read as a family during Advent. I think that tactile activities for all generations make the seasons come alive!

The Advent Color and Sound set really does that for the whole family. Each family member can color in the illustration of numbers that count up to December 25 - or it could be a shared activity and each person could fill in a portion of the image each day. Each day has a scripture or quote looking towards the coming of Christ!

Also included is a CD with these coloring books. One of the sets includes beloved Christmas carols and readings for the Christmas season, and the other set includes Christmas Gregorian Chants. Sacred music is another wonderful way to teach the faith through beauty and texts that speak to the heart. These sets could become a tradition for families as a way to celebrate Advent each year.

Wow, this was a very fun and enjoyable gift. The music and readings were beautiful. The coloring book had big numbers counting down Advent with beautiful designs behind them. I have not colored the whole book yet but I might not get to all the pages this year. This book is a must have for anyone who would like to relax and enjoy the season.
