He was supposed to glue my broken heart back together. Instead he threw me away. Now he's just another rock star asshole. He gets everything he wants. But not me. Not again. Ethan Strong was the first man I ever loved. He was the one person who understood me, the one person who made me feel whole, the one person who set my body on fire. We were supposed to be together forever. Then things got hard and Ethan forced me to choose between him and everything I've worked for. Now he's back in my life. He says we'll be friends. It's been a long time. I can forgive, but I can't seem to forget. The taste of his lips, the sound of his groans in my ears, those calloused fingers between my legs-- I'm going out of my mind remembering all the pleasure he brought me. Worse, I keep thinking of how happy he made me. I can't fall back in love with Ethan. It doesn't matter how badly I crave his gorgeous blue eyes, his tattooed arms, and his strong guitarists' hands. It doesn't matter that his smile still lights me up inside. It doesn't matter that I need him like I need oxygen. I'm not giving Ethan another chance to throw me away.
Dangerous Kiss is a full-length standalone romance with a HEA and a second chance romance theme.
Dangerous Kiss is set in the same universe as the Sinful Serenade series and features appearances from all your favorite Sinful guys. Sing Your Heart Out - Miles Strum Your Heart Out - Drew Rock Your Heart Out - Tom Play Your Heart Out - Pete Sinful Ever After
Crystal Kaswell is the author of the Sinful Serenade series. She writes steamy new adult romance with flawed characters. She loves police procedurals, tea, and The Hunger Games series. She lives in Portland, OR with her husband.
received the arc and i am only at 30% of the book, i already felt like pulling my hair. after forcing myself to fucking finish the book, below are my comments.
chapter 3: i certainly don't mind the vivid mental images of pounding water dripping off ethan's naked body. still, i should say no. when i open my mouth to speak, words refuse to fall. i don't say no, that's okay. or actually i'm going somewhere out of the way. instead, i press my lips together, and i nod yes.
chapter 4: "you want to get a coffee?" he slides his fingers over the steering wheel like he's fretting his guitar. "or tea." this is the part where i say no, that's a bad idea. i should get back to my car & drive home. you broke my heart once, i already begged you to sleep with me, do i really need any more pain or humiliation? i say none of that. i nod. "i guess."
chapter 21: he pulls back enough to smile it's that megawatt ethan strong smile, the one that melts glaciers. i should say no. i really should. but the damn smile is melting my reservations. i nod yes and let him lead me back to the hotel
WHY IS IT SO HARD TO SAY "NO"? IS THE AUTHOR TRYING TO PORTRAY A DUMB, STUPID GIRL IN THE BOOK?
and from time ethan & violet met each other, they are only thinking about tearing each other clothes off. LIKE WTF? is the whole book gonna be about them visualizing how to tear each other clothes off & fucking each other brains out?
what kind of book is? "human visualization of how to tear each other clothes so that we can fuck?" never expect this kind of book from this author, i think she ran out of ideas after finishing "sinful serenade" series. this is a crap shit book which i regretted reading. have too high hopes for it.
Violet Valentine is excited because she is excepted into the masters mathematics program at NYU. She wants to share this amazing news with her boyfriend Ethan Strong, lead guitarist for the band Dangerous Noise. Violet believes she & Ethan are a team & that he will be happy for her. It is the first piece of good new she has had since her brother Asher died. But Ethan isn't happy about Violet's news, they had plans that included her staying with him not her leaving. He feels like she is leaving him for good & they part going their separate ways....... Almost two years later, Ethan has become a famous lead guitar player as Dangerous Noise has become a popular band. Ethan is back home visiting an old hangout that reminds him of Violet. When he picks up a woman in the bar for some 'action' out back, Violet stumbles out the back door looking rather drunk. Ethan insists on driving her home so she doesn't drive while drunk. Violet ends up spending the night in Ethan's bed alone. The next day, Ethan's brother Mal, lead singer of the band, offers Violet a job helping out with the bands books while they travel across country. Violet decides to take the job & travels on the tour bus with the band. Ethan & Violet agree to be friends with benefits for the eleven day bus ride. Ethan wants Violet back & is willing to take it slow & do whatever it takes to make that happen. Violet is trying to convince herself that she can keep it casual & not fall in love with Ethan again. Will Ethan & Violet be able to handle the bus ride together? Will they remain friends or fall in love again? What happens when the tour ends in NYC?
This was another delightful rock star romance from Crystal Kaswell. She has a gift for writing romance stories about the ever popular rock star settling down with the love of his life. You find yourself rooting for the couple to find their path. The hot sex scenes are great too! Ethan & Violet's story is about learning to forgive yourself & letting go of past pain, while learning it's okay to trust again. This book is meant for mature readers.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Read Copy of this book.
Stupid, weak heroines are overrated in my books. And one who can't say NO??? Please. And in one of excerpts the heroine stated And she still can't say NO to any of his invitations?? And I saw the book has 358 pages. Shocking face now. Not ever reading this.
Let's play new adult rock star romance bingo: * Dual first person, present tense * Guitarist is "good with his hands" * Band member named Mal (Mal = bad, we get it) * Band member going to/in/freshly out of rehab * Drummer who is super hyper * Heroine who is quirky and therefore Different from Other Girls (free space) * Heroine has particular skill, no matter how left field, that the band needs * Heroine sees hero as a person, not for his fame * Heroine takes no shit from anyone, except the hero * "Having sex with groupies was never this good." says reformed manwhore hero * Hero is well endowed * Majority of plot could be resolved by Using Your Words
Ah, who am I kidding. None of that stops me from mainlining these books like Led Zeppelin doing cocaine off a groupie's ass.
This particular book was nothing spectacular, but yes I will read the whole series.
This is was an entertaining rock star second chance romance. Although I didn't love this book, it still captivated me and kept me reading until the end. I enjoyed the characters, but found their initial break up difficult to believe. It just didn't really make sense or have much emotional impact. I understand why it happened, but there was no build up or investment in the characters yet, so it all just felt rushed and unbelievable. Since the entire book was based off of the aftermath of this break up, I just felt like something was missing. The rest of the book seemed drawn out and the drama at the end fell a little flat. I'm all for a HEA, but this one almost felt too contrived. This book wasn't anything spectacular, but I'm still interested to find out more about the band members and will likely read/listen to more of the books in this series.
DNF @ 48%. I was listening to this book via audio and absolutely hated how it was narrated. Maybe if I had read this book then it may have had a different review
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 winecorks Dude: He’s not selfish when it counts *wink* Heroine: Not all of us outgrow our emo phase Steaminess: I think the bus windows fogged up... Emotional: Hug your brothers tight
This rockstar romance is just what your heart needs. Especially if you love emo but strong female characters and men who wear eyeliner and rock tattoos. The writing is strong and emotions it evokes will have you hugging your siblings and falling a little bit in love with a boy and his guitar. Dark and twisty readers will relate to this read!
This is a spin-off of Crystal’s other rock star series, Sinful Serenade. Even though, the Sinful guys do make appearances in this series too, it’s not necessary to read their stories too. Each of the four main books in this series are standalones. However, the entire series involve all the members of the Dangerous Noise band and thus, you’ll meet most of the characters in each book even as secondary characters. So, while it’s not necessary to read all the books, I’d recommend it to avoid spoilers and in order to connect with them all.
I was so excited to read this book and continue my journey with Crystal’s extremely hot rock stars but unfortunately, I really couldn’t get into the main characters in this book.
Ethan is a narcissistic man child and Violet is a really weak woman. When we first meet them, Violet has been accepted into a great school and when she shares her news with her boyfriend, Ethan, he throws a tantrum that would make any high school queen B proud. So, instead of being a loving and supportive boyfriend he makes Violet choose between him and his dream (his band) or leave him to follow her own dream. When Violet fails to convince Ethan that they can both have their dreams and make their relationship work, she leaves Ethan. Ethan throws everything he has into his band and they make it. In the process he becomes a man whore and fuck pretty much any groupie that makes it his way.
I get that this is one of those “second chance” love stories but the thing is, that at this point I was rooting for Violet and applauding her choice, I didn’t actually want the two of them to get back together.
When they, years later, get back into each other’s lives I couldn’t really stand any of them. Violet is such a weak female lead that it hurts the female pride I didn’t really know I had, until I read this book. The amount of time Violet is thinking “I can’t say no”, “I shouldn’t, but I can’t say no to him” is ridiculous. If I made a shot game out of it I would be well and truly drunk by the end of this book!
What I enjoyed most about this book was the secondary characters, so I will be continuing this series to meet them. But for Ethan and Violet, all I can say is good riddance.
The plot is very straight forward, and ticks off all the boxes needed for these kinds of books: Boy meets girl instant attraction They get to know each other But oh no, complications arise and misunderstandings/secrets are blown out of proportion Someone is sorry HEA
So, don’t get your hopes up – this is not a new spin on that.
This was my first Crystal book, and I'm completely hooked on her rock star romance.
This was a "true love" story, and it was just so endearing. I could feel the young love between Violet and Ethan in the prologue, and then felt it when the love shattered, but then I felt elation at learning how much they each still loved the other. They had a history and knew each other well, and that added a really cool element to the story. Reading how they found their way back to one another was quite a bumpy ride, but the ending was well worth the emotional roller coaster.
And talk about hot. Ethan is prime book-boyfriend material, even if I wanted to slap him towards the end. (But then it got to the end, and all was forgiven)
I was introduced to many characters (who I assume each have or will have their own story) and I could not be happier to know that I have two whole bands to read about :)
If you like rock-star romances, THIS is the author for you!!!
(I received a copy of this book in consideration of an honest review)
Ethan and Violet were in love before it imploded when Ethan made her choose him or grad school and her dreams. Now two years later Ethan's band Dangerous Noise has really taken off and he and Violet run into each other again. The two of them are determined at first to be friends and not anything romantic but that turns into a casual fling. They are both determined not to fall in love and end up heartbroken again. I loved Ethan and was really glad that he and Violet still had such amazing chemistry together. Ethan when he finally admitted to wanting Violet back was very persuasive. I was happy the two of them worked things out and compromised together.

3.7 Stars Im you only happy when it rains... This is a great rockstar meets second chance romance but it did take me a little time to get into the story. Violet is a very intelligent woman that is going for her Masters Degree in Mathematics at NYU, Ethan is the lead guitarist or the rock band Dangerous Noise. What grabbed me was learning about the past events in Violet’s life and how it had such an impact on her lifestyle today. I love being on tour with the band and at the same time we get the private story of Violet and Ethan with their are their friends with benefits sexy as all hell times together. The pace flows nicely and we get glimpses into the other band members that leave us wanting to know their stories too. I will definitely be looking into more books in this series. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
I was bored out of my mind. The constant "I know I should say no yet my mouth can't seem to obey so I say yes" from the h was soooooo annoying. I didn't like her at all. Even the H wasn't very likeable. Frankly, nothing is happening in this book and the audio version is 8.5 hours long... it would be a very long time to be bored. Better stop now then.
Three days ago I chose this book because I really wanted to read Rock Star novel. I've red a lot of boss/employee or sports romance novels these last few weeks and I deliberately picked this book because it was part of a series in the rock star trope. Well, book 1 didn't work (at all) for me but I'll try book 2 nonetheless. It was my first read from Mrs Kaswell... hope the second book is better ! (I hope so since it merges two tropes I really usually enjoy : best friend's sister AND rock star). Fingers crossed !
There was so much sex in this book I'm surprised there was a storyline to go with it. But there was, and whilst I would have to smacked both of them upside the head I still enjoyed reading their story. Oh, and did I mention the sex? Lots of sex.
I usually never DNF any book that I start. Am one that sometimes they start slow and yet end up being a great read. This one was a bit different. I could not get into the authors style of writing and the plot itself just didn't make sense.
The story of lead guitarist Ethan and goth maths student Violet is a second chance romance, not really my favourite thing hence only three stars but it was good.
I liked Violet. She was strong and clever and was no blushing virgin. It always peeves me though that during breakups the guy fucks everything warm and the girl has one luke warm committed relationship. Just always feels a bit like the old double standard view of sex. That aside Violet was cool and I liked her love of goth make up, sci fi and maths. She doesn’t really have ANY willpower when it comes to Ethan though. I really wanted her to be a bit more gutsy and stop caving in everytime she ogled his bicep.
Ethan was hot and a nice guy. I liked that he’d never really got over Violet. I didn’t feel very convinced about their initial breakup. It seemed a bit lame. Of course you would expect your amazing math student girlfriend to study maths? I didn’t quite get it. I got that it was more closely related to Violet’s family trauma. But i also felt that this wasn’t exactly just going to suddenly clear up with time. It felt like the serious nature of the issue wasn’t carried to a satisfactory conclusion. I basically thought Violet might seek some therapy. But what do I know?
There was some minor angst but on the whole it was pretty straightforward wooing back your woman after offering her a temporary job in order to keep her close. I felt that the previous series had a bit more of a storyline playing out alongside the romance bit. But i am excited about reading the rest of the series.
Ethan not so Strong...What a jerk to walk away from the woman who, has encouraged, love & supported him thru is dreams. But cannot do the same for Violet Valentine, when it came to getting into her Masters in Mathamatics & be away for 2 yrs. She had it all planned out. But that is the basis of the story? Right? Ethan Strong 💪 guitarist of "Dangerous Noise" has quite a selfish ego, when he decided to dump the woman he said he's 💘 for over 2 years. Since Violet wanted to pursue her assperations in getting her Masters in Mathematics & taking some time away after her son Ash killed himself. Ethan seems to think that Violet is rejecting him by not wanting to go on the road & taking care of everything relating to the band he & his older brother Malcom have been trying to establish. Have Violet do all their 📚. She wanted more for her life. She thought Ethan was the man that would be supportive of her dreams & be there for one another. He broke Violet Valentine's ❤. This After she lost her twin brother recently. 2 years later in New York City after "Dangerous Noise" has finished a concert. The band always needs to unwind by having a F(*** buddy. What better place for Ethan to find on but @ a club. He needs to fill up his empty ego to forget about Violet & the only way a man can do that is by picking up a fan; screw around & have oral sex outside the club walls. Where he sees a woman crying 😢. Ethan must be hallucinating when he thinks it's his ex-girlfriend Violet Valentine. It can't be! But in fact it is & she's drunk. She is dealing with her emotions because it's the death anniversary of her twin Ash. Violet just started her spring break, & really doesn't want to go home to her parents in CA. She decides to distract herself tonight in her sorrows to grief her brother. What are the odds the day she wants to breakdown she has to pick the club that the love of her life shows up & comes out back where she is vomiting & witnesses her Ex making out with one of his many girls he picks up for a one night stand. Ethan stopped & takes Violet back to his place to sleep it off. Because Violet is beside herself drunk, numb & in pain she decides she wants to throw herself at Ethan to give her temporary saticifaction before she has to deal with reality in the morning. Ethan has the good sense & respect for Violet that he won't take davantage of her pain & stops Violet from making a mistake. No matter how much he would love to screw her. Since Ethan has never stopped loving her. Violet wakes up the next morning remembering her blunder that almost happened with Ethan. How embarrassing after all the pain he caused when he broke up with her. After chatting with Violet taking her out to eat. Ethan decides to have her say her hellos to the rest of the band. They were like family for over two years before they got famous. While catching up, Malcom offers Violet to hit the road with the band for the next two weeks to be responsible for "Dangerous Noise" books. He needed to fill the position since firing the manager. Violet needed to make some income for bills while out of school on spring break. Ethan doesn't understand what Mal is doing? All Ethan ever wanted was to have Violet on tour with them. He definitely won't let his bandmates or Violet know his true feelings. Just play cool & inform Vi Just because she is on tour as a part of the band. She isn't going to stop him from his sexcapdes. He has never stopped loving her & if this is his second change to get her back. He is going to take it. Violet would love to be with Ethan, but she needs to remember anything that happens is to have fun. Not get her heart involved. She is determined that they can be friends & have a good time no strings attached. Vi is not willing to let her guard down when it comes to Ethan. He broke her heart.
After much consideration Violet is willing to take the job. Malcom informs her that he trusts her since she took care of their books before they were famous. He will pay her good wages for just 20 days. Violet couldn't resist the offer & truthfully she wanted to be near Ethan no matter how much he hurt her. This was her time learn how to have fun & walk away after the tour. Right? With no commitments, or emotions. Violet pretends that doesn't hurt but she already knows that there is no way she can keep her emotions out when it relates to Ethan. Malcom is hesitant about making the offer to Vi about the band's bookkeeping. But he has ulterior motives; for having Violet join on the end of the tour. He knows Ethan has been a man whore the last two years but he has not been happy since the day Violet left & broke his heart. Did Malcom do the right thing by inviting Vi to join the band? Or will it turn out to be more pain for parties involved?
The band is thrilled to have Vi on the road with them. They have missed her & also know how Ethan's attitude changed once Violet left for school. They all thought he was stupid to let her leave. Especially Piper Ethan's little sister who was furious what Ethan did to Violet. She loved Violet & knew she would never hurt her brother intentionally.
A few days together & they both know that they cannot just have fun & games. Ethan wants to spend every waking moment on Music & Vi. As much as Violet doesn't want to ache for her Ex hunk. She loves that rock star. But she knows he can break her heart ❤ What will she do ? Ethan has already decided he wants Violet back! What will happen to them?
The pair realize they cannot just let this go. Violet has already given her heart to him. They have been open about their feelings towards each other. What will happen to this sexy, emotionally broken couple that has their own personal pain from their past? Will Ethan put the woman he loves 1st over music? Will he be supportive to Violet's future? Find out when you read this novel in the Saga.
I'm a huge Crystal Kaswell fan. I fell in love with her Sinful Serenade books, so when I found out she was writing books based on Dangerous Noise, I was over the moon. This book has steam, it has tension, it has drama, and it had my emotions all over the place. The relationship between Ethan & Violet was all over the place. I liked how the author switched the view points so we could see the struggle from both sides. Some of the battles that these two overcame were so typical to most couples – we all want to be a priority, we all want to matter to someone. I will say, it's hard for me to believe that Violet was able to get with Ethan again, as quickly as she does. I love her character; she is this girl who shows the world that she takes no $h!t but on the inside she hurts. It's so realistic and I think a lot of us readers are just like her – we always try to hide our inside struggle. She has gone through so much hurt that it's no wonder she puts on a facade that she is stronger than she feels. I absolutely love that Ethan does his best to get past that wall. I'm a hopeless romantic, so even though I didn't think she should forgive him so easily, I'm glad she did. Because every strong woman needs a support system and Ethan wants to be that support for Violet.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I enjoyed it. Dangerous Kiss is a Rocker Romance. The main couple of this story is Ethan aka lead guitarist for Dangerous Noise and Violet aka ex girlfriend. DK starts off 2 years prior when Ethan broke up with Vi because she was accepted into NYU's math program and would be leaving Ethan afree the summer. Fast forward 2 years and they are both back home in Southern California. They bump back into eachother and Vi gets a job offer she can't refuse from Mal lead singer of DK. Violet will he traveling with Ethan and band for twelve days..Ethan has decided he will make VI HIS again and Vi is trying to not fall in love with the Sexy Guitarist. But it's hard for either of them to resist when their souls call to eachother. So get ready for a wild sexy ride with Dangerous Kiss. IF you love Rocker Romance, Lots of sexy times between the sheets and a good love story then Dangerous Kiss is for you. Happy Reading!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book for an honest review from HiddenGems.
It was a fun read, but I seriously don't get why it was such a big deal to either of them that she was going to get her Master's or that he was going away FOR THE DAY to play a show. Like, REALLY, you two? Come on. Unnecessary drama.
Also, speaking of unnecessary drama, the whole backstory of Asher felt like a plot point of convenience. The whole book would've existed just fine without it. I don't feel like it added anything.
(But, I kept reading, and will read the sequels, so...)
Loved Ethan and Violet. Their love is a second chance story that is fierce and so strong. They were supposed to stay together forever, but when Violet goes away to school, Ethan becomes a famous guitarist. Neither one of them has forgotten the other over the years and when they come back together, it's like no time has passed between them. With Violet helping the band, they have no choice but to spend time together again. Will they be able to make it this time?
I loved how straight forward this couple were, to everyone else, but each other. I found it an exciting read and can't wait who's next. I hope it's Joel, cuz kinds of crazy. '
This book was just awful. There was no real story, the characters were childish and immature and all they did was have sex or think about themselves having sex, all of which was printed, complete overkill and not a turn on at all. How this has got such great reviews is beyond me!!
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.*
I wanted to like this book, I really did, I just couldn't get into the characters. Ethan I disliked from the very beginning, while I felt for Violet. Maybe I want a fairytale instead of real life, but I'd like to think that two people who are really, truly in love are willing to do whatever it takes to make their relationship work. Ethan was completely unwilling. Violet got accepted into a Master's program, which meant that she wasn't going to be able to follow Ethan and his band around. What does Ethan do when she tells him about her acceptance into a really fantastic school/program? He throws a temper tantrum. Violet even suggests how they could work. She'd still be able to spend some of the summer with him and the band, then she'd have to go to school, but she could visit him on breaks and he could visit her. She had it all thought/planned out. Ethan, however, was having none of it and gave her an ultimatum. Either she lives his dream or walks away and lives her own. Personally, I'd have thrown up a peace sign and walked out the door and moved on with my life. I get that this was a second chance love story, but the reason for the breakup, to me, didn't have me wishing they'd get back together. It was due to an adult who didn't get his way. I didn't feel like Ethan ever really loved Violet, because what does he do? Goes out and bangs any woman that shows interest. I get it, everyone deals with things in their own way, but it just reaffirmed to me that he needed to grow up and I spent a large portion of the book wishing Violet would find someone who deserves her. He redeems himself in the end, but I felt like it was too little, too late.
I gave the book three stars because I absolutely loved the supporting characters. I think this may actually be my least favorite book in the series. And yes, I plan to read the rest. I'm looking forward to Kit's story, which is coming next. This was the first book I read by Crystal Caswell, but it won't be my last. She's a good author, this book just didn't do it for me, mainly due to the main characters.
