The Tiger of Mysore, Tipu Sultan will always be remembered as one of the most powerful rulers India ever had. After the death of his father Hyder Ali (1782), Tipu assumed power in Mysore. He had a complicated image and his rule was highly controversial. He was hated for his attitude towards the Hindus and his unkind treatment of non-Muslims, but he was also loved by the people for his determination to throw the British out of India. This short account of his life takes us from his wild youth, his bold military and political exploits, his family life, his tyrannous rule, to his death in his final climatic battle against the British.
