Draykoni do not die. Not truly. Not forever. So we thought. We have been proved wrong. A killer stalks the Off-Worlds, someone with the means and the will to extinguish even the oldest of draykon souls. But why would anybody do such a thing, and how? I am Llandry shapeshifter, ambassador, colony leader. My people are dying beyond hope of revival, and it falls to me to stop it. But the killer leaves nothing behind — not a single clue. Worse, the corrupted energy of Orlind has broken its confines. It's spreading. If it isn’t stopped, all the Worlds could go under. With my people and my Worlds under threat, I'll need all my wits, my strength, and every ally I can muster to set things right. It’s going to be a hard fight.
English both by name and nationality, Charlotte hasn’t permitted emigration to the Netherlands to change her essential Britishness. She writes colourful fantasy novels over copious quantities of tea, and rarely misses an opportunity to apologise for something. Spanning the spectrum from light to dark, her works include the Draykon Series, Modern Magick, The Malykant Mysteries and the Tales of Aylfenhame.
Excellent. I got a pre-release version from Charlotte. It picks up where Orlind leaves off, making it Draykon 4. (Seven Dreams is D6 or thereabouts.) The story is told as Llandry's journal, written at the instigation of Eva, who is expected to return the favor for D5.
Enjoyed it thoroughly. It was the cause of at least one much-too-late bedtime.
Mostly good, but a little to much "confusion" about Orlind and the castle. The castle was slightly mad, as was Galy - but it made me a little insane to read about it as well. Took a while to get used to the newstyle, reading Llandrys journal / diary - but it was OK. Love Nyden and Ori - they are so welcome, and endearing characters who bring mirth and happiness to an otherwise slightly gloomy tale.
