Excellent book! The uniqueness of this book is that it covers not only geopolitics, but also social life (working class, farmers, traditions, gender roles ...). At the end of the book you are guaranteed to get a great understanding of modern Greece, not only in its foreign affairs, but also of its society. After reading it, I must admit that I fell in love in Greece. This book does not simply provide you information, it gives you an experience.
The book is kinda generalistic, therefore I had to Google separately about a lot of things. Also I believe that some questions could be discussed more, such as nepotism and corruption in the 20th-21th century, and the Independence war (particularly why did Great powers intervene, diminishing the status quo of Vienna Congress?), Balkan Wars, etc. I still have found my answers on the Internet, but it would be better if the book could also provide some more information on these topics. Still, a book served for me as an excellent guide on what information I should look for, as without it I would have never jumped in that rabbit hole.
This book is an excellent choice for ones who wish to find out more about Greece. Without hesitation, if you are interested in Greece, this book will be of great use to you. Moreover, it is based on a rather large collection of sources (including Greek ones), which adds to the credibility of the text. A nice further reading section is also included.
