Due to the forced migrations during the Trans-Atlantic slave trade many Africans have been displaced from their homelands, language, and culture. Because of conquest, colonialism, and history written in jealousy, the identity of this displaced people has become a topic of controversial discussion. This African Diaspora has been the vehicle for stealing and recasting the historical people of the land, while also veiling the truth of their pre-slavery existence. After nearly 400 years of the calculated misuse of religion and removal of cultural markers, Hidden in Plain Sight seeks to provoke thought on religion, racism, and cultural appropriation in order to assist in rebuilding the foundation that has been destroyed by systemic oppression. The current condition of “Blacks” in America is an obvious cause for concern, but very few seek to tell the unbridled truth about the origin of this condition, as well as those who have contributed to its perpetuation. This book tackles the echoing questions of “Why can’t we just move on?” Is it truly necessary to know the past in order to change the course of the future? Can there ever be solidarity amongst humanity? and if so what does that look like? As you read this book prepare for a liberating journey with the ultimate destination being a place of unity and redemptive truth.
Her analogy of the Hebrew and black plight are remarkable and well founded. Her usage of the Hebrew is thought provoking and often illuminating. However, her political bias ruined this book for me. She attempts to make Obama a modern day Joseph and Trump a modern day Pharaoh. She also leaves out the fact that it was the republican party that passed the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments that granted full citizenship to the African-Americans, allowing them to vote, and have the right to own property. Her usage of photos to prove her point only revealed that the Democratic south continued to enforce Jim Crowe laws, which continued to divide this nation! I agree that we need God more than ever. I agree that this nation needs healing. I agree that it can only come from accepting God's plan for our lives. And I agree that bigotry and bias is a blight that must be abolished! But political divisiveness will not bring healing . Let us bind ourselves with brotherly love and become a UNITED nation once again! Together, one as equals! Living in harmony together!
This book was a wonderful read. I love the plethora of biblical references and support so there’s no second guessing to anything the author is saying. Great book!
This book provides thought provoking relations of all of God people. The author goes into great deals with photos and outline of facts (family trees) on who we all are. This books provide photos that are hard to view in man in humanity to man!
