Tarte Tatin Murder was a fun fast paced mystery that kept my interest and provided a fun read complete with fabulous food. I enjoyed Ashley and thought that she was a fun well-crafted character. I enjoy Ms. Scott's writing and think that her mysteries are so enjoyable. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I look forward to more in this series as the characters are interesting to read about.

Ashley and Sweetgrass Sweets have recovered from the events of the previous book and business is doing well. Her latest catering gig is a charity event at the Seagrass Country Club. The Charity Golf Tournament is raising funds for CURE, a cancer research foundation. The event gets off to a rough start when one of the guests harasses a female server and Ashley's friend Ryan's Uncle Charlie shows up a wee bit drunk. Ashley is too busy to be concerned until Uncle Charlie returns staggeringly drunk and reeking of whiskey. Ryan wants nothing more than to whisk his uncle away to sober up but the police have other ideas. Charlie's golf partner is found dead of blunt force trauma to the head and Uncle Charlie is the prime suspect! Ashley and Ryan must put their sleuthing skills to good use to save Uncle Charlie. Not only that, but the victim, Dr. Oliver Green, was on the verge of a cure for cancer and Ashley wants to solve this one for all the cancer patients and their families.

This story was not quite as good as the first. It was rather boring and lacked some of the charm and humor of the first book. Mainly because sweet Dizzy is hardly in the story! When she does appear and finds the final clue, it's forced and not in a natural doggie play way like in the first book. It's highly unlikely Dizzy would do something like that. I didn't really care who killed Green and it wasn't much of a surprise when it was revealed. I wasn't thrilled with Ashley and Ryan's lack of ethics involving hacking. It's one thing to track Uncle Charlie's location by GPS and find his phone and another to hack e-mails. What I did like was how the detective knows they're going to investigate anyway and gives permission for them to investigate as long as they report back to him. I especially liked how they did the right thing at the end instead of the usual cozy mystery confront the suspect alone trope. I did kind of figure out the cancer cure thing. My cousin is a cancer researcher so I had an insider perspective.

The best part of the book is the baking. OMG cupcakes, beignets, tarte tatain OMG! There are more recipes on the author's website. They're too complicated for me, aside from cupcakes, but it's nice to have the recipes. I want beignets! I've never had real ones. There's plenty of savory food for those who may prefer savory to sweet (What's wrong with you?) and a bit of Smoke Daddy Lee's BBQ. His anecdote at the end was way too funny.

The second best part of this book is Ashley and Ryan's budding romance. Ashley is rather obtuse when it comes to romance. I understand her hesitation but she has to be the ONLY person in town who DOES NOT know Ryan is in love with her and vice versa! Their relationship is so much fun. While they haven't gone on an official date yet, they do get in some free time alone which is really nice. This scene also adds to the local color aspect of the novel.

New characters here center around the murder. There's Uncle Charlie who practically raised Ryan. While Ryan loves his uncle, the picture readers get is not such a warm, fuzzy one. Later, there are complicated reasons why Charlie is such a lush and I didn't like this darker aspect of the story. Dr. Oliver Green, the murder victim, was a disgusting lecher who thought nothing of harassing women left and right. He needed to be slapped with a lawsuit and restraining order. #TimesUp. He may have been a brilliant scientist but that doesn't excuse his behavior. Other suspects include his research team: Dr. Wendy Graham, a dedicated researcher without much personality; Blake, an intern who seems a little lazy and Evan Richard, a type-A, hyper focused, rude young intern. There's also Wendy's fiance, Jordan Berg. He's kind of a jerk and she doesn't need him in her life. He is too suspicious and quick tempered to be stable. Finally, there's Javier Ortiz, the manager of the golf club who was missing during the murder. I was surprised by him.

If I can get any others in the series for free, I will read them but they're not worth spending my Amazon gift card on right now. I may consider it if I have any money left over after I buy my A-list books!

Tarte Tartin Murder is the second of the Seagrass Sweets Mysteries. Ashley is at the Seagrass County Club where the CURE Fundraiser is about to take place. Ryan recommended Ashley for the job as his Uncle Charlie is a CURE board member. As the event continues, Uncle Charlie stumbles into the clubhouse completely drunk and Ashley phones Ryan for assistance. Ryan arrives and as he an Ashley are putting Charlie in the car, the police come over and place Charlie under arrest for murder. Uncle Charlie's golf partner, the odious Oliver Green, was bludgeoned to death on the 7th green, and poor drunk Charlie has no alibi and no clue what happen - except he is innocent.

In steps Ashley. Again, it is refreshing to see Sheriff Mueller recognize her past aid in investigations, although he is sure that the guilty man has already been found. Ashley and Ryan again step in to help, finding information that the police are unwilling or unable to locate. We get to know Ashley a lot better in this one, although she still has yet to have her big first date with Ryan.

Another entertaining cozy by Scott.

Ashley is in a world filled with pastries, cookies and murder suspects. Love this series, Ashley seems to attract trouble and is becoming quite the sleuth. She will do anything to help Ryan even try to find the real killer so he can clear his uncles name.
This is such a fun story, there were so many suspects and all of them had a good reason to want the victim dead. Sorting through the evidence to find the killer was very enjoyable. This is a good cozy and a great story. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a mystery with their desserts.

“Tarte Tatin Murder” earns 5/5 Slices of Tarte Tatin and a Cafe Au Lait!

Ashley’s catering business is dong well along with her rekindled relationship with Ryan Brady. Her newest gig, providing a delightful array of French desserts including bite-size Tarte Tatin, is for the Seagrass Country Club Charity Golf Tournament raising funds for CURE, a cancer research foundation. While Ashley is setting up her dessert display, she meets Ryan’s Uncle Charlie. And despite Ryan’s warning to “Beware crazy Uncle Charlie,” she thinks he’s a fun guy in whom Ryan has confided, and she wants to know what Ryan has been saying about her and their new relationship. But, when he comes back from his round of golf drunk spewing threats against his irritating golf partner, the police have no choice but to arrest him. No, not for public drunkenness, but for murder. The head researcher for CURE has been found dead…blunt force trauma, and Charlie is the prime suspect. And even though the sheriff was willing to share details in respect of Ashley’s helpfulness on the last murder investigation, he is sure they have their man and there’s nothing to investigate. Well, Ashley would argue with that…of course.

I am a big fan of Sandi Scott’s Seagrass Sweets Cozy Mystery, and again I was greatly entertained: Self-proclaimed gift to women? Ethics in question? A drug trial? Again, Sandi weaves in several different motives for the crime: contemporary, realistic, and engaging including a few dead ends and an excellent “Wow!” solution. The ‘just for this story’ characters (co-researchers, family, and Uncle Charlie) are well developed and entertaining, and I continue to enjoy Ashley as the strong and clever woman still working on her vulnerabilities and confidence with her relationship with Ryan. Oh, BFF Patty is still here and so is Dizzy to round out the fun. Seagrass, Texas, nuances and its residents, ins and outs of the catering business, mouthwatering descriptions of Ashley’s delights, and the ongoing love interests play out in the background. And with apple season in Northern California soon in full bloom…a marvelous, easy to follow recipe for Apple Tarte Tatin is included…

I really enjoyed this wonderful cozy mystery. It's book 2 in the Seagrass Sweets Mystery series and I love Ashley and the small town of Seagrass. Ashley is catering the cancer fundraiser at the country club and gets involved in the murder of the lead researcher. This is a fun read and the murder clues are logical and easy to follow. I like the budding romance between Ashley and Ryan. No need to read book one to enjoy this story but I've already got it in my TBR stash.

Ashley Adams has her own desert catering business and she decides to cater to a golf fundraising event . This fund raiser is for cancer research and is being held at Seagrass Country Club. She using her grandmothers recipes to make her tasty deserts. While she is at this fundraiser she meets Ryan's uncle Charlie. Charlie and his partner were out playing a round of golf earlier in the day. Everything is going fine during the fundraiser until Dr. Green (Charlie's golfing partner) is found murdered. He was murdered by blunt force trauma another words he was hit in the head with something. Charlie was the last one to see Dr. Green alive so he is now the number one suspect. Dr. Green was leading up a team of researchers to find a cure for cancer. Charlie is drunk and no memory of what happened. Who murder Dr. Green ? Is Charlie guilty? Ryan Brady is Ashley's new boyfriend. Her and Ryan first met when they both worked for SmithCorp They were friends at the time . Ashley left town for a while and when she returned her and Ryan became more than friends when they teamed up together to solve a previous mystery. Now they have to team up again to prove Uncle Charlie is innocent or not? Can they solve this crime? Is Charlie guilty or not? I liked this who done it. If you like to read who done its then you will like this one to. I love cozy murder mysteries and I like this one because it was different from some of the other that I have read. This book has a lot of food in it to so that would appeal to someone who enjoys good food. This was the first book that I have read from this author and it won't be the last. I enjoyed it . I received an advance copy for my honest thoughts.

Ashley Adams, owner of dessert catering company Seagrass Sweets and amateur sleuth, is one of the caterers for The Seagrass Country Club Charity Golf Tournament when something horrible happens and a man’s body is found, cause of death blunt force trauma. The victim’s golf partner becomes number one suspect and is quickly arrested.
The victim’s golfing partner turns out to be Charlie Brady a member of the Golf Clubs fundraising board and Uncle to Ryan Brady, who is Ashley’s boyfriend. Unfortunately Charlie is worse for drink and cannot recall where he was when his golf partner was murdered. Neither Ashley or Ryan believe Charlie to be guilty so they start to investigate before Charlie is railroaded for a crime he did not commit.
I enjoyed the mystery evoked by the belief that Charlie is innocent and how Ashley and Ryan set out investigating the crime and allegations. Is Charlie really guilty? If not Charlie then who? Why was the eminent scientist murdered? I followed the twists and turns with enthusiasm working the clues with the characters and finally drawing the same conclusions. Beautifully written in her own style I look forward to reading more of Sandi’s work .
I received an advance copy for an honest review.

This second book in this series flowed better; new scenes were not suddenly there and making the reader wonder "how did they get there!?!"

In this book, Ryan's Uncle Charles is accused of murdering his golfing partner, a research doctor trying to find a cure for cancer. There are a number of other suspects, but could the police only be looking at Uncle Charlie? The reader receives a clue immediately in the first chapter and it connects later on in the book; my big question is, how did Ashley figure out who the murderer was when the he/she was faceless when Ashley saw him/her!?! It's one of those characters that, in real life, you take for granted the person is there because they're just not that important to your own needs.

Also happening is a slight distance happening between Ashley and business partner Patty; is Ashley spending too much time playing detective and not treating the business seriously; or is something else going on in Patty's life? Ashley also finally tells Ryan about her horrible experience with ex-lover Serge; do does this mean Ryan will only remain a friend, or become much more?

Read the book and you'll find out the answers; no spoilers sweetie.

A fast paced cozy mystery with a lot of twists and turns to keep you turning pages!

This is book two in the Seagrass Sweets Cozy mystery series and it does not disappoint. It is a fast paced cozy mystery with very likeable main characters. Ashely is catering a fund raiser for the cancer research center while her friend Ryan's Uncle Charlie is playing golf with one of the head research doctors, Dr. Green. When Dr. Green is found dead on the golf course and Uncle Charlie is found drunk and embezzling from the center to feed a drug habit, he is arrested for the murder. Ryan begs Ashley to help him prove is uncle's innocence after he gets his uncle into rehab. She agrees and the two of them uncover so many possible suspects it takes lot of sleuthing to find the real killer. It seems the doctor not only wasn't the nicest person on the planet, but there were a lot of secrets too. There are so many twists and turns that you just have to finish it in one sitting! I received an ARC from the author, but the opinion expressed here is strictly my own.

I think this story deserves at least a 4 1/2 stars. I found a couple of editing errors that can be easily fixed and they do not distract from the story. I really enjoyed the mystery and felt it was well thought out. There were just enough suspects and clues to keep the reader involved. Our sleuth Ashley Adams is a baker/caterer for a golfing fundraiser CURE for cancer research. While working the fundraiser she meets and speaks to her friend Ryan's Uncle Charlie. Unfortunately for Uncle Charlie he gets schnockered and is accused of killing the doctor working on the cancer research project, and Charlie can't remember a thing. Ashley and Ryan don't believe Uncle Charlie did it and work together to solve the mystery.
One thing I liked in this mystery that usually is not included in other stories is the cooperation of the police detective. I thought it was written with respect for both our sleuths and the police. An enjoyable easy read that made me hungry. One other point: I'd like to have seen the recipes included in the book.

Sandi Scott's Tarte Tatin Murder, book 2 in Scott's A Seagrass Sweets Cozy Mystery series, can be read on its own but there seems to be a good back story lurking in the first book in the series - Cream Puff Murder, that would have helped elevate my familiarity (and enjoyment) with the characters in the book.

The residents of Seagrass, Texas are likeable characters and reflect attributes that we would recognize in people present in the "real" world.

My true disappointment with the book was that the author seemed to spend more time on sub plots then on solving the mystery. I found Scott's balancing act between the main plot and sub plots a bit off. I prefer sub plots unravel slowly over time. Of course, I want to know about the characters and what makes them tick but my attraction to the cozy mystery genre is first and foremost - the mystery.

My overall impression? To fully enjoy Tarte Tatin Murder it is probably best to read it as part of the series rather than as a stand alone book. That would be my recommendation.

Tarte Tatin Murder
A Seagrass Sweets Cosy Murder Book 2
by Sandi Scott
Ashley Adams is back, working hard at her Seagrass Sweets Catering Company. The guy she’s had her eye on Ryan asks Ashley for help proving his uncle’s innocence when Charlie Brady is accused of murder. Problem is Charlie was so inebriated he is unable to remember much of his morning, but as Ashley had been setting out her delicious food she had seen Uncle Charlie more than once that morning and a lot more that she was unable so far to remember. Recipes are given during the book and made me hungry for one to sample right now! A great second detecting chance for Ashley, with even the police chief recommending her fine attention to detail in the last murder she’d helped solve. I really enjoyed this second murder story Sandi Scott has written about friends Patty LaFontaine, famous chef and Ashley Adams, wonderful desserts and sweets baker, who have worked hard on their catering company. I was given this book but the review is entirely my own.

Ashley is catering for a golf fundraising event for a cancer charity, when the head researcher’s corpse is found under some bushes on the golf course. Dr Green, although an excellent scientist, is much less of a human being, crass, stubborn, uncaring and believes that he is irresistible to women, making unwelcomed passes to almost anything in a skirt. The list of suspects who would willingly murder the good Dr is a very long one. But the police believe that it includes Charlie Brady, Ryan’s lovable but irresponsible uncle, who was last seen as Dr Green’s golfing partner, returning to the club house so drunk, he could not remember what had happened.

Another good story, I enjoyed the fact that Ashley clarified how what happened in her previous relationship with Serge and how she is now moving forward with Ryan. This book can be read as a standalone, but is more enjoyable when you have read the previous one too.

Ashley and Ryan are force to investigate when Ryan's uncle Charles is accused of murder. Dr. Oliver Green, head of a cancer research project was Charles golf partner and was found murdered after Charles left the golf course.
Dr. Green is a pushy and obsessive boss with a strict moral work ethic, but not so ethical when it comes to recruiting patients for his lab trials. He is also very handsy with the ladies. The List of suspects include some of his co-researchers, family members that were not told the entire truth about the effects of the trail drugs, and some of the women he did not give enough personal space to.

Sandi Scott wrote a great story with well defined characters, including multiple suspects and a very surprising ending. I'm looking forward to the next one.

This is second book I have read by Sandi Scott and it is what I would call a cosy mystery. You do not need have read the book 1 of the series but if you want background information on the main characters then it help. There is another murder in Ashly's home town of Seagrass. She has her own business making desserts and biscuits which she sells online and at outside catering events. Ashley was catering at her local golf club, who were fund raising for 'Cure' a local research center for cancer. This is where the murder took place and the local police quickly arrested a suspect. Ashly being Ashley who, being an amateur sleuth, decided to help the police to find out the truth and the true culprit. (If you love desserts you are able to obtain all the recipe's from the author)

This is the second book in the Seagrass Sweets Series.
The heroine, Ashley Adams is a delightful character. Ashley owns a dessert catering business. Ashley has been hired to cater a fundraiser at the Golf and Country Club.
Two of the players are Dr. Green, a research doctor and Charlie. Charlie is the uncle of Ryan, a good friend of Ashley's.
Dr. Green is murdered. Charlie is accused of the murder. Is Charlie the killer or is it someone else?
Now, it is time for Ashley and Ryan to get to work and to solve the mystery.
Do you like reading about good food? If the answer is yes, then you will enjoy this book.
I enjoyed this book very much.
Received this book free from the author.

Our heroine, Ashley is busy catering at a charity golf outing that is being held to raise money for Cure a promising study to cure cancer. Ryan's Uncle Charlie happens to be the partner of the murdered victim, but Charlie is so drunk, he can't remember what happened.
Ashley and Ryan set out to prove Charlie's innocence. But Ashley is also dealing with her business partner's sudden distance between them and the fact that she can't decide if Ryan is more than just a friend. Red herrings keep you guessing in this delightful book. An easy read with tempting recipes at the end.
I received an ARC copy of this book for my honest review.

Another sweet Ahley and Ryan mystery.

Dizzy the dog is a fun and funny sidekick.

Business partner Patty seems to be making bigger stride so no the romance department,
but to be fair ton Ryan, an uncle enmeshed in murder embezzlement and drink/ drugs . . . Maybe his mind is more on other things.

Ashley's recipes sound quite tasty in this story. I almost said "light hearted" story, but cancer drugs etc, hmm maybe not so light.

In the kitchen, Ashley puts together all the right ingredients. She and Ryan make a great tech and crime solving team.

Not sure they have the right ingredients for a fine romance.

Tarte Tatin Murder is a good light-hearted read. Ashley, the protagonist and her sidekick Ryan were the main driving forces throughout the book. While the ancillary characters were developed enough to add substance to the storyline. The two characters and their antics actually elicited a few chuckles and were a perfect complement to the overall temperature of the story. The plot and tempo was well thought out with character's who could successfully enable the reader to become entranced without obstructions. The book is a page turner, with a methodical mystery solver that will leave you exhausted, BUT with a smile at the end. I RECOMMENDED this book for a good cozy mystery. -Tex.

My third read from author Sandi Scott and the second in The Seagrass Sweet Mystery Series. I'd received an ARC of Murder in the Art Gallery and enjoyed it so much I had to read another by the author and Cream Puff Murder the first in The Seagrass Sweet Mystery Series was even more pleasing to read that I read a third! An entertaining novelette that I greatly enjoyed reading. The problem with short works is just that, they're short. The author does a wonderful job in character & plot development that makes you want to come back for seconds, then thirds. I’ll definitely read more from this author!

A charity benefit turns deadly and Ashley Adams, caterer, finds herself trying to solve the murder. Charlie, the uncle of her good friend Ryan, is the only one on the police suspect list . Charlie was the last known person to be with the victim but he was so drunk at the time of the murder he cannot offer much defense against the accusation.

The author does a good job of using descriptive words to help the reader "see" the story. It is a fun, easy to read cozy mystery with a touch of romance.

I just finished reading Tarte Tatin Murder by Sandi Scott. If you like a Cozy Mystery this one is for you. It has the right amount of suspense with a touch of romance without being mushy. The characters are clear and clean. The story line has a few twists and turns to keep you on your toes.
Great job, and I look forward to reading more from Sandi Scott.
Congrats
Cheers

PS: one thing about this book is that the main character is a baker 👨‍🍳 and you can get the recipes mentioned. That is really cool.

This book is well written with characters you can really cheer for. When murder happens and a member of your family is accused of it, what else can you do but look into it yourself. The police think they have their person, so it is up to Ashley and Ryan to find the real murderer. Of course it doesn't help that the victim was a loud, bossy, hateful person. Then Ashley's business partner is acting strangely toward her. What's up with that? Read the book to find out how it all turns out. There are things you just never know about a person.

Ashley Adams provides the desserts for the annual CURE golf tournament where she runs into Ryan's (Ashley's boyfriend) inebriated Uncle Charlie. When his partner for the tournament is murdered, he is the prime suspect and Ryan and Ashley start investigating to find the real killer. The victim was a cancer scientist who was not well liked, sexist, but ethical regarding his research which was having problems. Lots of possible murders. Good cozy but not as good as the first, maybe due to shorter length and less development.

Ashley has got a knack for sleuthing for sure. It seems that she can not be around a mystery without lending a hand. Her feelings for Ryan haul her into clearing the name of his loving Uncle Charlie.

As the plot thickens, the culinary expertise of Patty and Ashley opens up new channels for the case. There are just a few internal mysteries that also have to be hashed out.

A good little cozy mystery read. There were a few inaccuracies in the storylines that caused the rating to decline, still a good read.

Ashley is catering a fundraiser at the Seagrass Country Club Charity Golf tournament when one of the golfers is murdered and the suspect is her friend Ryan’s uncle. The guy was not well liked so there were plenty of suspects. She knows his uncle did not kill anyone so she sets out to investigate the murder with the help of her friends. Love the antics of her dog Dizzy. There is not much intrigue, but still a good read for a cozy mystery with a surprise sending for the murderer. I voluntarily reviewed this book.

This is the second in the series and the second one I have read. I loved it. In this one Ashley's friend Ryan's Uncle Charlie is charged with murder but was so drunk he wasn't any help. But Ashley helps Ryan discover just what was going on and they join up with Detective Luna to bring the murderer to justice. I love the way they think things through and the way they trust each other. Looking forward to more books by the author.

An okay cozy mystery and the mystery is interesting. However, I prefer writing that is more complex and mature than I found in this book. The characters haven't really grown at all since the first book. We did get a bit of backstory on our hero Ashley but it is incomplete and doesn't support where she is in her life currently. The character relationships are simplistic and naive. The story was okay but I won't be reading any further in this series.
