Finally understand the life-altering knowledge of the Hermetica!
Imagine obtaining the wisdom of the ancient Egyptian philosophers. How different would your life be if you had access to their secret teachings on life, its origins, and its Creator? In what ways would your own life be transformed?
Dr. Matthew Barnes, chemist, biochemist, doctor, and bestselling author of The Emerald Tablet 101, The Kybalion 101, The Tao Te Ching 101, The Bhagavad Gita 101, and Jesus Christ, Zen Master, presents his interpretation of the second major work of the ancient Egyptian Philosopher, Hermes Trismegistus. And he does so in a way that is “in-your-face readable, understandable.”
In his work, you’ll
• What brought on Hermes’ revelation, and how it‘s similar to the awakenings of Jesus, Buddha, and so many others. • The connection between science and religion, and the truth about evolution. • Why man is a double being. (Did you know that man alone is a double being?) • The true name of God, and the true creed. • How to actually see the “body” of the Creator. • How the ancient Egyptian philosophers viewed time. ( it’s not how we view it!) • The three great entities of existence, and why humans were created in the first place. • The answer to the debate over destiny versus free will. (Did you know that it’s a choice?) • Mankind’s single greatest fear, and how to overcome it. • The truth about judgment day, and the root cause of our suffering. • How to find enlightenment through Hermes’ teachings. "Just as we were developed for this world in the womb, so too are we being developed for the next world within these bodies. And just as we emerged from the world of our mother's womb into this world, so too will we emerge from the world of these bodies into the next..." -The Hermetica 101

Like the author, I've read almost every translation of the Hermetica that has been available to me. His preferences are the The Hermetica: The Lost Wisdom of the Pharaohs by Tim Freke and The Way of Hermes: New Translations of The Corpus Hermeticum and The Definitions of Hermes Trismegistus to Asclepius by Clement Salaman, Dorine van Oyen, William D. Wharton. While those are good versions and I've read those as well, my personal favorites are Hermetica: The Greek Corpus Hermeticum and the Latin Asclepius in a New English Translation, with Notes and Introduction by Brian P. Copenhaver and THRICE-GREATEST HERMES VOLUME I-III (Studies in Hellenistic Theosophy and Gnosis) by G.R.S. Mead.
The author stated both in the beginning and at the end that his intent was not to give a literal or scholarly translation but to give a modern day rendering that makes more sense to people of this age as things that may have made sense in the time of Thoth may not be relevent today. He did a good enough job in doing so for persons who may come across this for the first time, but for me it was lacking a bit. Call it the nerd in me, but the scholarly renditions just have more "meat on the bone". I would still recommend this for those who prefer the simple wording and aren't as invested in the study of ancient scriptures as I.
I give 5 stars because this book helped me to have a better understanding of God. The way it was written is easy to understand but at the same time very deep. I would recommend to anyone that is in search of growing spiritualy. LUIS
Transforms your perception and outlook on life, it’s meaning, our approach to it. What we value, how and why. Gifting those with eyes to see and those with ears to hear.
Certainly one for those who are exploring alchemy.
The book is based on ancient Egyptian writing. The basis seems to be that each person is to find their own truth. This involves experience vs. dogma and says that exploring is a spiritual path.
An interesting point is that 'By studying the works of the Creator, you come to a feeeling of kingship with that Creator.' That's a very meaningful statement.
The book says that God is an intelligence that is unfathomable by humans which also makes a lot of sense. Something that could create what has been created would have to have an intelligence so far above humans that we can't even understand just how much that means.
The book also discusses Gnostic Christians, alchemy, the Emerald tablet and the various paths open to us including service to others and wisdom, among others.
The book also has some references.
The book gives a person a good bit to think about.
