Coming Home #2

Kiss My Boots

Rate this book
In this second of the sultry, Western-set Coming Home series from New York Times bestselling author Harper Sloan, Quinn Davis might finally have a shot at her own happily-ever-after—but will she let love in, or will she tell it to go ahead and kiss her boots?

Quinn Davis prefers to live her life quietly. She’s the stereotypical tomboy with two overprotective big brothers who have always been there to protect her, especially from devilishly handsome cowboys with silver tongues. That is, until Tate Montgomery comes riding into town. Their first meeting, however, is far from something out of a fairy tale and only further convinces Quinn that men aren’t worth her time.

The only place Tate Montgomery ever truly felt at home growing up was during the long, sweltering summer months he spent at his Gram and Paw’s farm in Pine Oak, Texas. Now, Tate has returned to his childhood sanctuary seeking a fresh start—but if he’s being entirely honest, he’s not just back for the wranglers and Stetsons. During those summers, Quinn was a friend-turned-young-love who Tate lost when life threw him a curveball and he cut all ties to his past; but all it takes is one glance at the raven-haired beauty he did his best to forget for him to realize just how much he’s been missing….

Kiss My Boots is the second book in Harper Sloan’s Coming Home series. It’s about the middle Davis sibling, Quinn. When I read the first book, I was so excited that we were getting a book about Quinn. She’s fun, spunky, and I liked her a lot! Her story was a beautiful second chance romance. I loved Quinn and Tate together! They had the best chemistry and you could tell they were just meant to be! After reading this, I can’t wait for Clay’s book!

It felt like it took me ages to finish this book!
KISS MY BOOTS was simply more of the same from the previous installment. In fact, it was almost identical to the first book's storyline. The Hero and Heroine fell in love when they were just wee children and then at about the time they're both eighteen, the Hero, Tate, leaves Quinn behind without any explanations and is gone for nearly ten years. Quinn has never gotten over that heartbreak and has also not allowed any man to get close enough to mean anything to her.

Now, Tate is back in town about nine years from the day he left and he's taken over his grandfather's medical practice and home. His mission is clear and there isn't anything that will stand in his way of winning back the heart of the only woman who ever truly owned his!

The plot was predictable and the pace of the story was slow, which made it hard to enjoy but by the time I was nearing the end it did pick up a bit and I must admit there were some yummy steamy scenes and one in a gynecologist exam room that I will surely not forget anytime soon.

I did love Tate! If it weren't for him I probably would not have ended up liking this book at all. Hoping that the last book will be the one to knock me off my boots!! LOL

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Hero: 4.5
Heroine: 3
Plot: 3
Angst: 2
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

Hot, sexy, sweet and passionate.

Kiss My Boots is the second installment in the amazing Coming Home series. This is a second chance romance, a trope that I absolutely love, aside from the enemy-to-lovers theme. I truly love when characters are given a chance to re-do their lives, mend their broken hearts, correct the mistakes of their youth by choosing a different path in life, a better one, and embrace a happy ending that should have been theirs in the first place.

The story follows Quinn Davis (Maverick’s sister from book one) and Tate Montgomery. These two met when they were eleven years old and became inseparable until the age of eighteen. Every summer when Tate was there in the little town of Pine Oaks, Texas to visit his grandparents, he was the one who filled a void in Quinn’s life. While they could not have come from more completely different lives, their friendship naturally evolved into a romantic attachment that only grew in intensity as they became older. They were each other’s firsts and their love was all consuming and unbreakable. Forever promises were made, but one day, with no explanation and no goodbye, Tate left and broke Quinn’s heart in the process leaving her devastated.

"The foundation we built was meant to be everlasting—even if his promises hadn’t been. He taught me trust. He showed me love. Then he gave me pain."

Nine years, that’s how long it has been since Quinn and Tate have seen one another. Quinn moved on with her life and thought she was finally over it. She is now a mechanic and the owner of a car shop. Quinn is this strong, independent, and feisty woman that has taken some hits but keeps going.  She enjoys her simple life and loves taking care of her cars and spending time with her two overprotective brothers, Clayton and Maverick and her best friend Leighton. That is until Tate Montgomery returns and tugs on her heart strings all over again. The intense feelings she had buried deep inside rise up and refuse to go away.

Blackmailed, forced to stay away and to cut off contact with Quinn, Tate had no choice then, but to sacrifice his happiness by leaving the woman he loved behind. He finished school, started his career and became a successful gynecologist, and went through the motions of his life. But now things have changed, Tate doesn’t have anything standing in his way. He wants Quinn back. He wants to give them back what was stolen from them all those years ago.

"It’s time to end this farce I’m stuck living and take back my life—and the woman who has always held my goddamn heart."

But will the truth cause Quinn to hate him more for not fighting for their chance then, or will it change everything and make her look at the whole situation and Tate in a different light?

"Rest of my days, I’ll feel the same desperate need for you, Quinn. One day I’m gonna fill you up until my seed takes root and I’ll do it again and again after that. Gonna give you that family we always talked about, but first, I’m beggin’ you to give it all to me, Quinn. Give me this body I crave, but give me the heart inside it I need.”

Loved Quinn and Tate! Both great characters and they had so much chemistry, history, love, passion and friendship. They were perfectly matched in every possible way and I truly enjoyed the way they loved one another. In the style that I have come to expect and love, Harper Sloan has once again written a story full of depth, emotion, humour, and her trademark, awesome secondary characters that give an ever-greater dimension to the story. The bottom line is that with this author you always get the real deal. Can’t wait to read Clayton’s story. He's been my favorite from the start and I just know it’s gonna be worth the wait!

5 'Kiss my fuckin' boots' Stars!
ARC provided by the publisher via Ink Slinger PR in exchange for an honest review.

Holy hell, this series just keeps getting better and better with every book! I am sure most of you know my love for all things Harper Sloan (her incredibly awesome characters get me every single time!). So, as you can imagine, I am definitely not surprised that I loved her newest release.

Kiss My Boots is the second installment in the Coming Home series and if you have read the first book you know they are about three siblings who had a difficult past and now it's time for them to find their happily ever after. This is Quinn's time and this second chance romance love story is everything I expected and more! Quinn and Tate were in love when they were very young but Tate had to leave and now he is back to get what he loves most: his girl.

He taught me trust.
He showed me love.
Then he gave me pain.

OH MY GOD. The chemistry between these two! I am a sucker for second chance romances and this was not an exception! I always fall in love with Harper's outstanding chracters and let me tell you, Tate and Quinn will steal your heart. They are so funny, hot as hell and they will make you feel all the feels! Their love story is absolutely beautiful and I loved connecting this much with these characters!

“It’s not a lifetime, Quinn. Nothin’ will ever keep me from you. If you love me even a sliver as much as I love you, then a few years apart will just make us stronger. There’s never been anyone else for me, and darlin’, there never will be.”

What I always love about family books is the strong relationship between the characters. The Davis' siblings have the most heart warming connection you can ever imagine. Quinn adores her brothers and they will do absolutely everything to make her feel saved and loved. But, of course, now she also has a hunk of a man to do that. Tate is a fantastic hero, willing to do anything to get Quinn back and boy.. in what ways he gets her back! The chemistry is incredibly hawt and they gave us many panty-melting and also emotional moments.

Words aren’t needed when I lay her down on the bed, worship her body, and show her with every part of my body just how loved she is—as we come together.

Therefore, my rating for Kiss My Boots is 5 STARS because who in the hell complains about a book that made you connect extremely well with the characters and made you feel all the feels with the beautiful relationship it portrays! I love western romances and Quinn and Tate brought me so much happiness with their love story. I can't wait to read Clay's story (it sounds SO good!). Highly recommend this one!

Kiss My Boots follows Quinn Davis as she faces the man she loved and lost. Tate Montgomery showing back up in her life turns her upside down and makes her very conflicted. As much as she wants to run right back into his arms, he hurt her once and she doesn't want to allow that to happen again, making her want to run from those arms. But Tate had his reasons for staying away from Quinn and now that there's nothing in his way anymore, he's determined to earn her love back.

I loved how kick ass Quinn was. She was the typical tough southern girl but not cliche in any way, and I really like that so much about her was unique and kept me interested. Seeing her completely defenseless against the feelings she had for Tate made me like her even more because even though she couldn't stop how much she wanted him, she made him work for it. She fought against those feels long enough while Tate had to prove to her that he was back for good, and didn't have plans to leave her again.

Quinn and Tate worked really well for me as a couple and I loved seeing them together. We got to see little parts of them together in the past and I actually really liked that we got those flashbacks. They didn't take over the story in the present at all, just made the connection between Tate and Quinn stronger. So the bottom line is if you haven't read this book or sereis yet, you're very much missing out.

Wow! This was so awesome. Harper Sloan has fast become a one click author for me and I’m yet to read one of her stories that I don’t get fully invested in and devour. After finishing book one in the Coming Home series, Lost Rider, and falling in love with Quinn, I could not wait to get my hands on Kiss My Boots and read Quinn’s story. I loved every minute as I knew I would.

As stated above, we first meet in Quinn in book one of the series. She is Maverick’s sister and Leighton’s best friend. I absolutely fell in love with her, she was everything I had hoped for and then some; she’s feisty and sassy with a smart mouth to boot. She says exactly what springs to mind with no thought for the aftermath or the consequences that may arise. Plus she fixes cars and has no problem getting dirty and being one of the boys. I have a real soft spot for tomboys and Quinn epitomises what I love about a strong heroine.

For nine years now Quinn has kept her heart locked up and completely given up on the prospect or the idea of love. She was left utterly heartbroken by the one and only person she has ever loved and has never fully recovered from this pain. Her mindset was that if she didn’t open her heart up to anyone again, she wouldn’t risk the chance of being hurt the same way. So what happens when the one person who broke Quinn’s heart nine years ago returns to town? Will she let him back into her heart? Will he even have a chance to win her back?

“He taught me trust.
He showed me love.
Then he gave me pain.”

Tate Montgomery is the man responsible for leaving Quinn completely shattered and heartbroken all those years ago. He had left without explanation and was never to be heard from again, that is, until now. Well he’s back and his main focus is on trying to get Quinn to understand his reasons for leaving. Tate will stop at nothing to win back Quinn, though it’s not going to be easy because Quinn is definitely no doormat. Quinn has no problems standing up and voicing her opinions and there is also the fact she doesn’t think she can go through that kind of pain again.

Tate is such a loveable character; he’s charming, sweet and an all-round good guy. Quinn didn’t stand a chance to be honest, one alluring look and Quinn’s panties literally melted. Tate can thank Homer for bringing them back together again. Who’s Homer you may ask? Well you’ll just have to read to find out. Plus Tate also happens to be the new gyno in town which in itself is guaranteed to make for a fun ride.

Kiss My Boots was such a fun-loving, well written easy going story that I devoured in one sitting. It is a complete stand-alone, so you don’t have to read Lost Rider first, but I strenuously suggest you do. Not only will you get a better understanding of the characters involved, but it is such an awesome series so far and you won’t want to miss out. I wait with baited breath for the third instalment, Clay’s story Cowboy Up. I know that if it is half as good as the first two I’m going to love it.

I think it’s pretty safe to say I would highly recommend this story to anyone who loves second chance love stories involving an absolutely badass heroine and a sweet lovable hero who will stop at nothing to win back the love of his life. This story is just pure awesomeness. Check it out, you know you want to. That’s all folks!

Kiss My Boots is a sexy, emotional, sophisticated second chance romance that ignites all the feels. Harper Sloan has once again slayed the romance literary world with her heartfelt swoonworthy romance as she makes readers fall in love with her prose and vulnerable down to earth characters.

He left, and with him he took all the promises he’d ever whispered. He stole that piece inside me he had filled, and I hadn’t found a way to fix it since.”

Who doesn’t love a good second chance romance? I know, I do. Hell, it’s one of my favorite tropes. The idea of two lovers reuniting and getting that second chance to make things right is why I love reading romance novels and let me just say, Harper Sloan knows how to write an emotional and sexy second chance love story.

#KissMyBoots

Quinn Davis is not your quintessential stereotypical girl next door. For one, she is a mechanic which I so applaud Harper Sloan for showcasing a heroine in a male dominated profession. She is sassy, strong willed and independent as hell and so she prefers to live a quiet life. The reason for that is she once gave her heart to a man who ended up leaving and in return gave her a broken heart.

I pray that he can see the desperation my love for him makes me feel. The need to get as close as two people physically can is almost unbearable. What I feel— this fire burning deep in my belly— only becomes more powerful the longer I deny what I crave.”

Tate Montgomery is that man who walked away from Quinn Davis nine years ago and now he is back to win the heart of Quinn. Ladies, let me just say this cowboy will have your panties melting as he shows Quinn that she is the only one in his heart.

#KissMyBoots2

Quinn and Tate’s journey of reconnecting and rebuilding their relationship was truly unforgettable. This couple had my heart as everything about them felt raw, vulnerable and natural. Trust me when I tell you, it is not hard to fall and root for this couple. Yes, Tate may have walked away from Quinn nine years ago but there was a valid reason and I loved that Harper Sloan allowed readers to see both sides of the story and allowed readers to see two hearts colliding as one finally was able to let go of the walls surrounding her heart.

He left a handsome boy and came back a devilishly hot man. His body, having always been in shape, is aged to perfection. His abs are a little more defined, his pecs even larger, and his arms that would— I’m sure— feel like steel bands when they were wrapped around you.”

Kiss My Boots is the perfect summer read as this book had everything you could of asked for. It had amazing and lovable characters, heartfelt dialogue, and a romance that was palpable from the start. The writing was beautiful as Harper Sloan allowed readers to feel for her characters as two hearts surrendered to their love for each other. So if you are looking for a sweet and heartfelt second chance romance that was brimming with so much love, passion, and emotions then I highly recommend you to read Kiss My Boots.

Ok so be warned people this may get a little bumpy!

He left for 9 years with ZERO contact after Quinn has been abandoned by her mother and verbally abused by her father!

I wanted him to beg....
I wanted him to plead....
I wanted him to offer his penis on a silver fucking platter for her to set on fire!!!

What I got was maybe a few paragraphs and all was understood! Everyone even "looked on him proudly" after his reveal.

What in the ever loving fuck!!!!!

He left and choose's to mess around with other women during that time "when his need became to great to ignore" , Granted the heroine Quinn did have one night stands on occasion! But she needed to be heavily intoxicated to do it.....Hmmmm am I the only one struggling with that?

He was having casual dates with various women and she had to be drunk to her rocks off.

They were together by 36% and if I'm being honest I would have liked this to end at 40% because I knew... I knew that they're would be OW drama and Oh My God it was thrown in at 93% just to rock the boat a little!

Why.....just, Why? It wasn't needed!

To be completely brutally honest I should have DNF'd this at 36% but it was Harper Sloan and I loved Quinn in "Lost Rider" but she'd lost her sass in this one and it felt like she needed the man who deserted her for 9 years to get it back (I don't care why he left, he left...end of) He could have contacted her (I'm sure his arsehole father isn't monitoring the postal service or email provider he uses) and to come back and be forgiven so easily.....I don't care how much her body wanted him, she should have made him beg! Not just hold out on sex for a whole fucking week, I mean Come on!!

It got 3 stars (I'm being generous) because it's Harper Sloan and the writing is as always, on point! But with sooo many internal monologue's, and my obvious opinion that the main H is a douche I was struggling by the three quarter mark!

But hey just because it wasn't for me doesn't mean that it won't be one of your favourite reads this year....so have a sneaky sample download and see for yourself!

Thanks for sticking with me during that my lovelies, Happy reading!!

I have read almost all of Harper Sloan's books, so of course I had to read this series as well ;) I absolutely loved the "Security" series and "Hopetown" even more.

This series is a bit different though... For one, we get cowboys...woohoo !!

Unfortunately this second book is about Quinn. Quinn is Mac's sister (book 1) and even though she lives on the family ranch and loves to ride her horse, she isn't really a cowgirl. Her love lies in fixing cars and she spends most her time under the hood of a truck. She is funny, sassy, a bit of a tomboy and she wears cowboy boots...so good enough for me :P

FOTO BEWERKEN - makkelijk online je foto's bewerken of aanpassen

Tate isn't a cowboy either. When he was younger he used to spend his summers with his grandparents, who lived in the same town as Quinn. This is how they met, became friends and fell in love.... They were supposed to be forever... He was supposed to come back after the summer she gave him everything....

tumblr_lylk2tPbgj1qacbojo1_250.gif (245×245)

Tate however comes from a highclass rich uppity family, who look down on people like Quinn. They forced the two of them apart. So Tate left Quinn and his heart behind...

Now, years later, things have changed. Tate's grandfather has died and Tate is ready to move back to the town where he left his heart and take over his grandfathers practice. You see Tate....he isn't a cowboy either... He is a vajayjay doctor !  At least when he breaks it, he will know how to fix it :P

62698053.jpg (400×400)

Tate is ready to win the love of his life back. Quinn at first isn't so happy with him riding back into town... She doesn't understand why he left her and she doesn't want to have her heart broken again. She never stopped loving him though. So her head and heart might be fighting....but we all know she is gonna give in ;)

197759_331537456920303_126894987384552_761883_539188150_n.jpg (500×500)

Tate and Quinn were very loveable characters. Sure Quinn could have hold back a bit longer, but after he explained, what more could she do. I myself think he could have come back sooner or fought harder for the two of them, but he was also a lot younger then. So I was oke with the fact that she gave in a bit easily.  It made for some pretty hot scenes !!!

fPcBBjn.gif (500×235)

I am really enjoying this series, though I have to say that it's a bit mild. I am an angst junkie, so I would have liked a bit more of that. Still very good though. Can't wait to read the next book, which should be about Clay, Quinn's other brother.

4 “Grease and Starch” Stars.

Quinn and Tate used to be in love when they were teenagers and Tate would spend the summer in his grandparents house in Pine Oaks. Everything is good between them until the summer they turn 18 and Tate goes away for medical school leaving Quinn behind with no apparent reason.
10 years later Tate is back to Pine Oaks to take over his grandfather’s clinic and it’s easy for feelings that were pushed back to re-surface. But it’s going to be a long road for Tate in getting Quinn’s to forgive him after so many years apart and so many secrets kept.

I really, really liked this book. I’m a sucker for a second-chance romance, it has always been my favorite romance genre and this book hits all my sweet spots. Yes, it is a little predictable as you can see very early where the story is going, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying it. It’s a sweet, captivating story and you’ll definitely like it you like second-chance romance with a mix of cowboys.

Rating: 4 Stars.
Characters Development: I liked Quinn, she was strong-willed, knew what she wanted and had no filter. She did her own thing and didn’t bend for anyone, and it’s refreshing to see a heroine that isn’t portrayed as a fragile sweet cupcake. Tate was nice as well, once you understand his reasons, it’s very easy to fall in love with him, especially when he completely adores Quinn. Like the last book, I loved the dynamic between their family.

I have to say I was dying to read this book after the first which was so good as well. I really wanted Quinn's books I knew she was very sassy and so funny so I was super happy she was next. Even though I dying for Clay's book to. This author is one of my favourites and alway knows how to make u want more.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So this book is Quinn and Tate. Like I said Quinn is super sassy and so funny she as really kept her brothers on there toes she doesn't let them away with a thing. But her brothers mean the world to her after her mum leaving them when she was very young she as had to deal with a lot and she is still dealing. Tate didn't make things better she knew Tate years ago when he came to Pine Oaks to visit his grandparents in the summer so they got super close over the years. Things were goin great it was the best summer ever until Tate had to go. He made promises to her but never kept them and she didn't hear from him again until now.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Tate is a great guy and very sexy doctor. Things have been goin ok for Tate but could be so much better. He as a good job but there was one thing that was missing in his life and after 9 years away it was time to get it back. He has stayed away long enough he can't do it anymore.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

My heart went out to these 2 in this book. There story is so good I enjoyed it so much. I m a sucker for a second chance romance. From page one I new I was goin to luv it. There was so many funny parts with nicknames for each other to names for cars and Quinn standing up to her brothers it was so funny and there was actually loads more. But there were so sad moments the things Quinn and Tate had to deal with was hard they just had to deal as best they could with what had happened.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I would highly recommend this book. The first was good but I think book was even better and I know Clay's book is just goin to be as good I can't wait for that. I luvd everything about this book there is a great story that's flows well throughout. You have sexy cowboys and doctors also strong women how can put these alpha cowboys and doctor in there place. Which they do need it at times. Overall I just really enjoyed this and I m looking forward to more from this series and author.

How do you go on when your first love leaves you high and dry with no word? This second chance romance delves head first in to explore that topic.

OMG! I flipping loved this book!!! Don't give me the side-eye here folks, but this is my first time reading Harper Sloan. What the frack is wrong with me?! Gah, I've been missing out. Anyways, back to the book at hand. It's sweet, emotional, and funny. Effing brilliant!

Here's what I loved: The writing is fresh, honest, and includes down home country twang (lol). The conversations between Quinn and Leigh had me busting a gut. They're so similar to conversations with my bestie! So much fun and hilariously funny. I could totally be friends with these characters. Their language and wit shine through. The standout is how honest and true to life the character interactions are.

The main characters are amazing. I loved them both so much. Tate is so sweet! He's perfection and I respected and swooned so hard over him. He owns my heart! Quinn is a paradox, soft inside but a self professed tomboy who prefers working on cars than anything else. And I repeat, the conversations between Q and Leigh are priceless. They're worth the cost of the book!

The character interactions, whether between Q and Tate or her brothers and Tate, I loved them all!

Overall, this is a fantastic read. I highly recommend it to everyone! It's Fan-freaking-tastic!

Sometimes when I read a series I have to go back and read my review or the synopsis of the prior book or books. This is usually because I have probably read 50 or 100 books in between and I need to refresh my memory.

However, with this new release, I didn’t have to do that. I’ve been waiting for this book to come out. That’s because the author has crafted a delightful and amazing cast of characters that you really wish were real people you know!

Fun and passionate are the two words that come to mind with this story. Quinn is a little bit wild and crazy with her friends, but deep down she’s a family girl.

Passionate is the perfect description for her deep love and connection to Tate. It was never anybody else and he feels exactly the same way, making sacrifices and moving worlds to get to back to her.

The author knows exactly how to express the feelings you get from a perfectly connected couple. You can just feel the heat simmering off the pages and know that their love truly is meant to be.

With plenty of humor and love to go around, this book is one that will make you feel good all the way through it. Loaded with tons of heat, sexy encounters, and a deep passion for each other, this is the type of book that you really wish reflected your own life.

You definitely need to meet this family. Start with book number one Lost Rider, for the full effect.

I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to the likes of Harper Sloan, and this is only my second book I've read by her, but with all that in mind, she absolutely AMAZED me with her second installment of her pretty INCREDIBLE 'Coming Home' series! KISS MY BOOTS features Quinn Davis and Tate Montgomery, two characters that once experienced the greatness that is young love...first love, only to have it ripped away from them in the blink of an eye. Both characters ran away with my heart and I don't think I ever want it back. A second chance love story that will have you swoonin' for days, KISS MY BOOTS was EVERYTHING I wanted for Quinn and Tate...and more!

"He taught me trust. He showed me love. Then he gave me pain."

Quinn Davis is the epitome of a strong and independent beautiful woman. She is sassy. She is smart. She is mighty good under the hood of a truck that needs fixin'. She is the little sister of Maverick Austin Davis (Lost Rider) and Clayton Davis (Cowboy Up), and best friend of Leighton Elizabeth James (Lost Rider). I've been looking forward to her story ever since I met her in book one of the series, Lost Rider. She is a feisty one and I related to her on multiple levels.

"There's never been anyone else for me, and darlin', there never will be."

Tate Montgomery will get your motor runnin', for sure. Smooth talkin' charmer with a personality you will completely fall HEAD OVER HEELS in love with, Tate is out to win back the affection of the one he walked away from years ago. And ladies, he is out for blood, so to speak. He is one determined cowboy, and I gotta say, I was on his side ever since he step foot back in Pine Oak, Texas.

Quinn is in an uphill battle between her head and her heart when Tate comes strollin' back into town, and he does not make it easy on her. Only one man can tame the likes of Quinn Davis, and that man will stop at nothing to claim what is rightfully his, even if he has to throw her over his shoulders and become the caveman we all know he can be.

Everything about Quinn and Tate's story had me blushin' and swoonin' head to toe. Ms. Sloan sure knows how to make heroes that are so easy to fall for and heroines that are so easy to root for. I've come to absolutely ADORE this family! This series is somethin' special. It ignites the heart and engages the mind. I have nothing but LOVE for this series, these characters, and this incredibly talented author. Two down...one to go! I can't wait to get my hands on Clay's story. The eldest of the Davis clan needs his happily ever after more than anyone!

The Coming Home series has brought us another second chance love. This one follows Quinn, sister to Maverick from the first book. You don't have to read the first book to enjoy this one, but it does have Maverick, Leigh and Clay in both books and you do get the continuation of Maverick and Leigh's story.

The Davis siblings all suffer from the abandonment of their mother and the cruelty of their father who has since passed. Add to this, Quinn's first and only love stopped all communication with her with out a single explanation when they were younger. Her sense of abandonment just grew when the only boy she has ever loved could be so callous. 9 years later and she still hasn't been able to properly move on from Tate and now she finds out he's moving back.

Second chance romances are not one of my favorite tropes usually because of the reason for the separation. In this case, Harper Sloan provided us a Hero that sacrificed his relationship to protect her and others he loved. Now that is something I can get on board for.

I'm enjoying this series and I love the characters but I will admit that Quinn was a hard character for me to connect with. She's a female mechanic and a strong female character but her cowboy language did tend to come off overly dramatic at times. Still a great story.

I loved seeing these two work it out with out any crazy other woman drama. It had the potential of going there and I like that the author toned down what could have been major drama when a previous hook up didn't want to let him go.

We're back in Oak Pine, Texas with the 3 Davis siblings. Now it's Quinn's time to fight for her HEA!

She's been in love with Tate ever since they were eleven years old. Back then he started to spend the summers in town with his grandparents. But after that one last summer - the summer after the one where she gave him her virginity and they made plans for the future - he never came back.
That was nine years ago.
And now he's back. To take over his late grandfather's doctor's practice.
Quinn still hates him. But she also kind of still loves him.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO QUINN & TATE???
WILL THERE BE A HAPPY END?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

ADORABLE!

I enjoyed reading this book.
It was another Davis-family-2nd-chance-lovestory.
Just like her brother - Quinn is in love with the one that got away!
And now he's back - and he's super determined to win her back!
Which is not really all that hard, because Quinn understands why he never came back, and they still love each other. But - it's no instant happy end of course .... ☺

It was a really cute romance!

I really loved the story and the characters, but I think it should've been edited a bit better. 50 pages less wouldn't have hurt. It's just too long somehow. But I think that's a Harper Sloan thing. This is only my 3rd book of hers and I just went back to look at my review for the first book in this series and for Perfectly Imperfect and I said the exact same thing about it: too long and complicated sentences et cetera. :(
It just should've been a bit shorter! It would've made it much more interesting. Readers (me!) are bored easily and I'm afraid that this will happen in this case :/
Another thing that turned me off a bit, or rather, a LOT: everybody is leaving out the G's at the end of a ...ING-word!!!! A texan cowboy can talk a bit cowboyish like that, but that was way too much old Texas grandpa! Especially for such a non-cowboy-doctor-hottie like Tate, who hasn't been in Texas for 9 years! I almost stopped reading when they didn't stop talking that way. It sounds like cheap cowboy porn in my head!
Also, the story was a bit boring. Nothing happens. No bad things, no excitement. The only thing that happens is something that we all knew would happen, right at the very beginning when we met Tate's ex hook-up Ella. Predictable. And when it happened it was so uneventful it only used up one page!

But I still loved the book and the people in it !!!! ☺
It was just too long and uneventful for me.
Even though I like it when an author doesn't feel she has to add those horrbile unnecessary drama moments. A bit drama would've been nice in this case!

Great story with much potential. Great characters (who speak in a horrible texan accent!) and lots of funny and sexy moments.

Now I can't wait for Clay's book to be released in December!!!!!

KISS MY BOOTS was an adorable & sexy (and pretty drama-free) second-chance small-town-Texas Romance! Hurry to your nearest amazon asap for your own Doctor Tate - this one is MINE!!!!

3.75 'Jesus Jones' Stars

First of all, HELLO DOCTOR JONES!!!! #HotDocAlert

Since Lost Rider come out I’ve been looking forward to know all about the rest of the Davis brothers, so I could get my hands – or eyes, lol – fast enough on this one!

Kiss My Boots was an emotional and sexy second chance story where we see Tate Montgomery and Quinn Davis trying to find their path back together, after nine years of separation.

He taught me trust.
He showed me love.
Then he gave me pain.

Before starting the book, and after reading about Quinn’s ‘take no prisoners’ and ‘Hell-raiser’ attitude in the first book, I really thought Tate would have a grovel of epic proportions in his future, not only towards his woman, but also her overprotective siblings. Well, color me blind, because Harper Sloan totally turned the table on us, with Tate’s confession and explanation of all the reasons for which he had to stay away from the one he thought to be his whole future.

"That invisible connection only two people meant to be together have was snappin’ back in place and pullin’ all that slack out of the rope.”

His early explanation, along with the entire characters enlightenment, made, in my opinion, a bittersweet change to the story. Yes, it was undoubtably refreshing that us as readers don’t have to go the whole book wondering, or even Quinn herself, but it stole the thunder of a potentially emotional confrontation, and dynamic that would give us an extra kick to their love story. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed this early development, but my wandering mind questions if I would have liked it even more if it came further on. Guess we’ll never know, lol… One thing I can say, I loved his honesty, and willfulness to lay all cards on the table and fight for his love.

God, I miss her.
Missed her since the day I left and haven’t stopped since.

Tate really was an amazing main male character. Swoon-worthy and devoted, smoking hot with a delicious dirty taking, and absolutely head over heels for his hell-raising cowgirl. Yes, I understood his situation for the clean break up, but it could have been another way to do it without the disappearing act that shattered Quinn’s heart. So no one was more surprised than him, to see that he didn’t have to fight so hard for her love, but I adored he was prepared to grovel with the best of them.

“Accordin’ to her, we’re gettin’ to know the adults we’ve become. You ask me, though, I’m just showin’ the only woman I have ever loved and will ever love that we’re the same people we’ve always been.”

I’ve never loved anyone else, Quinn, never and that’s somethin’ that won’t ever change.

Yep, if you follow my reviews, you already know my dislike of the use of expression ‘always loved you, and never stop loving you’ when we are discussing a separation were there have been others. It’s a second chance but I don’t want to think ‘if you never stopped loving’ why did you sleep with others. I just don’t want to feel the emotions cheappened by the constant declaration of endless love, much less if deep down you hope one day, and that was the case apparently, according to his thoughts, to be back to fight for that love, when in fact you ended up sleeping with others. You know how anal I am about these things, so picky b!tch’s rant over! LOL

“No one woulda thought we would get a second chance, Tate. Not even us. That’s how much of a lost cause we were,”

Nonetheless, if that was hadn’t been so confirmed, and evident, even by the OW drama, I have no doubt I would have rated the book higher, because from the moment Tate step foot in Pine Oaks, his actions were perfection (ok, maybe I would have preferred he was the one confronting the crazy, lol, though I totally get why Harper wrote it that way)! And like you see above, they basically had no hope – she, even more than him – to ever get back together. They never expected Fate worked to their favor!

We’ll make new memories while uncovering the old.
Who wants perfect? Not me. I want real.

Quinn, the ‘Hell Raiser’ sure lived up to her nickname – though like I said, was even hoping for more, where Tate was concerned – in her badass attitude, specially when put together with her BFF, Leighton. Man those two were hilarious!

“Seriously, do you get what this means for me?!”
“Uh, that he might not need to lubricate the speculum before your exam?”

These secondary characters were incredible, and I can’t express how amazing it was to get even more of Maverick and Leighton’s story here. I can express how much I loved to see their HEA on the making, and their weeding scene made me teary with how touching it was!

OMG, and now, the only remaining Davis, is the man I’ve been craving to know more about. My favorite of the siblings, Clayton! You know how much I love a silent and broody type! I’m dying to read his book, I need his story STAT! <3 <3 <3 <3

I know know we are right where we need to be. Where we’re meant to be.
Together, forever.

I’d always thought home was a place, but he’s right: our home is right here, in each other’s arms.

3 Quinn and Tate Stars

Second in series but can be read as a standalone. Quinn and Tate were childhood friends and later teenage sweethearts but Tate left one summer and never returned leaving Quinn heartbroken. Fast forward nine years and the constraints that we holding Tate back are finally gone and he can return to Quinn who was oblivious to his reasons for disappearing.

There is no real conflict in this book and no angst either which surprised me. It's very much about nurturing a rekindled love affair back to life- not that they ever stopped loving each other. Everything seemed to click back into place very quickly.

Tate was a nice enough hero but Quinn came across as much younger than 27. Her character has a huge amount of energy.

It was an enjoyable read but not one I would pick up again but I am very excited about Clay's book.

HEA? Yes
Cheating? No

Genre: Western Romance. Second Chances.

Pure Perfection. This book. This series. These characters. The Love. The Friendship. Everything is perfection. I am literally about to start crying because these books have deeply touched my heart. I don't know how Harper Sloan does it, but her words are magical. She makes her readers FEEL EVERYTHING. In fact, they are so good that readers are going to feel like they are within the story themselves. How many authors can do this to their readers? Not many. But Harper Sloan does.

If you have read the first book in the series (Lost Rider; http://amzn.to/2u1SkEv) then you will have met Quinn in it. She is Maverick's sister and best friend to Leighton. If not, that's okay too because this book CAN standalone (although I strongly suggest reading Lost Rider first because the characters are interconnected and you'll have a better understanding of the entire story line).

Anyway, Quinn is sassy. She is bad-ass, she knows it, and she is not afraid to let her mouth shoot off anything that comes to mind. She is also pure country, a hellion, and one of the most sweetest characters I have every come across. She has a good heart and loves deep. Unfortunately, 9 years ago she became heartbroken when the one man she loved upped and left without a word. And since then, she hasn't fallen in love. So just imagine how she feels when THE man that broke her heart suddenly comes back into town... And has every intention of winning her heart back...

Tate Montgomery is the man who left a world of pain in Quinns wake. He left without a word and hasn't returned until now. But he has a reason for leaving, one that he hopes will make Quinn understand. So with everything he has in him, he tries to win him back. It isn't going to be easy by any means though. Quinn is a spitfire and truly hurt. But one look in his eyes and her body turns to jelly.

How they get to their HEA is up to readers to find out! But I will say that Tate is a charmer. He's a kind and loving characters and swept me off my feet. He's also the new gyno in town, which makes the story a lot more fun!

With that, I very HIGHLY recommend this book. It's a must read and another true favorite of mine for the year. I can't wait to read Clay's story (I need it now)!!!! You can preorder your copy today on amazon as it is releasing soon!!! >> http://amzn.to/2tBnHop

5 Kiss My Boots Stars

Well I wasn’t sure what this was going to be like. I liked book one but didn’t OMG love it.
And even though I wanted to read this book so bad I wasn’t sure it was going to live up to it in my mind. But oh boy was I wrong, I love this book!

It was everything I hoped for and so much more. Quinn and Tate were meant to be! I can’t put it any simpler than that. No joke this book had me chuckling, swooning and swearing.

I loved how protecting her brothers were of her. I loved how she got closure from the past. I loved how she stands up for herself. And same goes for Tate he too works though a lot and is better for it in the end.

And I loved the narration, both favorites of mine Jason Carpenter and Elizabeth Louise. If you haven’t listened to them I suggest this book!! 

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

4.5 stars
This is the second of this series focusing on Pine Oak, Texas with the theme of coming home. This time Tate Montgomery is coming back to take over the farm and medical practice of his grandfather. He used to spend his summers there, and fell in love with Quinn Davis. Their love blossomed from friendship to more and they thought they would have forever. But the last time he left at the end of summer, he did not return.

Nine years have now passed. Quinn is a feisty, stubborn, tomboy mechanic running her own family's business. She is also guarded, lonely, and has abandonment issues. Her family history left its own set of scars on her and Tate left her broken-hearted. So she does not do relationships. She is surrounded now by her two older and protective brothers, Maverick and Clay. When she catches wind that Tate is returning, she is overwhelmed, anxious, and angry. She is mad at him for disappearing and leaving her, and angry at herself for still having a reaction to him and caring.

Tate had his reasons for not coming back and losing touch, but he never forgot Quinn. He lived a different life in the city and did what he needed to do, but did not really get involved. He has secrets and confessions that he wants to share. But first he is going to have to get the hell-raiser Quinn to settle down and give him a chance to explain and a chance to win back her trust and heart. And Quinn has to decide if she is going to cowgirl up, forgive him, and give him a second chance.

Much Like Maverick and Leighton from Lost Rider, they are two people who just fit together and have not really felt whole since being apart. But there is a lot of hurt and fear still lurking. She needs Tate to be willing to fight for her this time. They will have to get to know each other all over again and make new memories to accompany the old ones. They are two people who have just been living in survival mode and need to learn to truly feel and live again. But they also have to learn to trust and forgive, and fight for what they want and need.

This is a story of hope, forgiveness, healing, and true love that was challenged by time, distance, and opposition. It is funny, sweet, passionate, and emotional, but not too angsty. Both Quinn and Tate are likable and well developed. It is told in mostly Quinn's point of view, with some in Tate's and there are also flashbacks. It flowed easy and it was fun returning to this town. I loved Tate's devotion and protectiveness, and Quinn is as strong as she is sassy. But she does have some demons to overcome. The side characters of Maverick, Leighton, and Clay are all back as well as some of the other townies. I love the relationship between Quinn and her brothers and her best friend, Leighton. They all have been through so much but are there for each other. Their family truly does make their home. I am looking forward to seeing Clay find his own love in Cowboy Up.

Kiss My Boots is the second book in Harper Sloan’s Coming Home series and I thoroughly enjoyed being back in Pine Oak, Texas with the Davis family. Getting over the past is never easy and for Quinn Davis and Tate Montgomery who want from friends to lovers to nothing for the last nine years, forgiveness and acceptance begin their road to their happily ever after.

First off I want to say that I loved both Quinn and Tate and I was extremely happy that over time they were able to find their way back to one another. Quinn was a multi faceted character; strong, sassy, and I loved that she was a mechanic and good at it, she was fiercely loyal to her brothers and her best friend, Leighton, and she loved with her whole heart. So it wasn’t a surprise that she still felt deeply about her mother abandoning their family when she was a baby, her father’s verbal abuse and physical abuse of one of her brothers, and the young man who left her and broke her heart in a million pieces, but I was thrilled that despite that hurt, she was willing to listen to him, let him explain, and admit to herself that even though almost a decade has gone by that no one else has ever come close to making her feel the way he does. Tate was sweet, charming, and selfless in that he was willing to sacrifice his happiness to make sure the people he loved were protected. I admired the fact that he made sure to meet with Quinn’s brothers and explain what happened in the past, to let them see he was in it for the long haul, and that their sister meant more to him than anything. He wasn’t afraid of showing his feelings, of admitting his failings, or of the love he felt for Quinn even during their time apart. I loved that they didn’t hide their pasts from one another, they didn’t apologize for being with other people, nor did they obsess over it; the fact that they could be mature about that part of their lives impressed me greatly.

This book was repetitive on numerous occasions and the “conflict” towards the end honestly felt contrived and I expected it while reading the third chapter so I was disappointed that in came to pass. I was glad that Quinn was able to confront and lay her past to rest, letting her feel free to move on with her life once and for all.

With each book in this series I get more enamored with these characters and their lives, I feel their pain, I celebrate their joy, and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Sloan has in store for big brother Clay. Sentimental, sassy, and sexy Kiss My Boots was a fun and enjoyable story.

Kiss my Boots is the second chance love story of Quinn, a mechanic in her small Texas town, and Tate, the new town OB/GYN. I kind of loved that she is in a male profession and he is in a female dominated profession. Nice twist! I am going to do this review as I read, so you are getting my thoughts!

This is VERY similar to book 1, Lost Rider in the trope. Q and Tate fell in love as teenagers, then he went off to college and never spoke to her again. Q stayed in town just like Leigh (from book 1) did, and now that the hero has returned, she struggles with her feelings of abandonment, love, and fear. So far, its pretty much the same book with different characters.
Oh no...if this Ella chick turns out to be a 'bunny boiler' like I am thinking she might be, I will be super annoyed. She seems like the crazy type of girl who would travel thousands of miles to 'win' Tate 'back', or fake a pregnancy or something. How do guys not see that in girls?!?
"I laugh dryly thinking about how corny my thoughts sound...". Yes, they sound VERY corny. Add to that the overuse of idioms and 'southern sayings' and weird analogies/metaphores, and the whole thing gets a little eye roll inducing. Hopeful that will die down as I read on.
Hmmm.....Tate's reason for leaving without a word is a bit weak in my opinion. I mean, there was NO way he could have found to get word to Quinn? None....really? Hmmmm.
Quinn sounds like every girl I know when it comes to trusting guys. She was heartbroken and terrified it will happen again. Its very relatable so I appreciate that.
Okay, they kind of got over the drama that kept them apart and its only like 1/2 way through the book. I'm pretty happy about this!
Its smooth sailing, fun, flirty times between these two and it actually turned into a lighter read!
Drama Llama in the last like 10% but these two handled it really maturely. THANK GOD!

Overall, even though the book didn't start out great for me, I am happy with the way it all turned out. The miscommunication is dealt with pretty early on and the book mainly focuses on them falling back in love. I also loved seeing Quinn's relationship with her oldest brother Clay. It was sweet!

Side note: The covers for this series are STUNNING and I adore them! Aren't they beautiful!? I love the use of color and the sun behind the models. Just beautiful!

POV: dual 1st
Tears: no
Trope: second chance
Triggers: none
Series/Standalone: stand alone (part of an interconnected series)
Cliffhanger:
HEA:

You never forget your first love. Teenage love is so carefree and easy. It’s like walking around with rose coloured glasses on and if feels like the rest of the world should be singing along to the same tune.

This was true for Quinn and Tate when they first fell in love. Every summer Tate spent six weeks working at his grandparents farm and all his down time was dedicated to Quinn. As far as they were concerned they were going to be together forever. They had their future mapped out until they didn’t.

One moment they were making plans for a future together and then all of a sudden Tate cut Quinn from his life and never returned to Pine Oak. Quinn was left absolutely devastated and has had to live with never having closure or answers she needed from Tate. After going through all the stages of relationship break up grief, she had a bit of a ‘wild child’ period in her life and then swore off love and men for good.

‘Quinn, the hell-raisin’ badass is back, and Tate Montgomery can kiss my boots.’

Quinn now runs the local garage and loves restoring old cars to their former glory. She is an A-grade mechanic and loves to spend hours tinkering on engines. She has three older brothers who are fiercely protective of her and her best friend Leighton is married to one of them. Needless to say, she has a very tight family circle around her. This is a good thing because Tate Montgomery is on his way back to town.

Tate hasn’t been back in Pine Oak for nine years. His grandparents have now passed away and he is returning to take ownership of their home. Tate is also taking over his Paw’s old position as the new town doctor, specialising in gynaecology. It was always his dream to work in medicine, just like his Paw and everything just seems to be falling into place for him now. Well apart from one thing, he wants to get back the woman he has always loved – Quinn.

When Quinn gets word of Tate’s return she is determined to just get on with things, so what if he is back, she is well over any feelings she may have had nine years ago. Famous last thoughts though….. the minute these two are in each other’s company all bets go out the window, all those feelings they had years ago come hurtling back into their minds and hearts but more magnified than ever.

‘You scare me more than a rattlesnake about to strike,’ I whisper. ‘Right down to my marrow, Tate Montgomery.’

Tate needs to come clean about what happened and why he broke Quinn’s heart, however first he has to get through the wall of Davis brothers and take a few hits. Why would they ever trust Tate with Quinn’s heart when he has proven to be unworthy of it? Tate is prepared to fight for what he loves, what he has always believed they both deserved their happy ever after together.

This was a low angst, sweet country love story.

This was just fantastic for me. Excellent characters, great storyline, full of passionate and swoon worthy moments and a whole lot of emotion. I am loving this series! 5 stars for Kiss My Boots.

Tate and Quinn were really great characters. Tate was just so sweet and determined and I loved how he just put it all out there. Quinn was so scared of being hurt again but I really liked that she was willing to try and didn’t fight her feelings. I loved their chemistry! There was tension between the two in the beginning but I loved watching their walls come down and that tension explode into heat. I adored how they were open and honest about what they wanted with no games. That doesn't mean there wasn’t a bit of drama mixed in because there was, which made the build to them reconnecting all the more sweet. I loved learning their histories and how there were flash backs providing more depth. There were just so many wonderful details tying it all together. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I loved all the entertaining moments as well. In the middle of the emotion were all these fun scenes that made me smile. I loved that lightness that was mixed in. The play on words between Tate and Quinn had me laughing. When Leighton and Quinn get together these girls are wild and it just made me smile big time. Loved the updates on Maverick and Leighton from the first book, Lost Rider, as well, it was wonderful how that was worked into the story.

I LOVED Quinn's brothers Clay and Maverick and the family they have made for themselves. This was so much more than a beautiful romance between Tate and Quinn, it was such an deeply emotional journey for Quinn as she lets go of past hurt so she can really move on and have a future. I got choked up on several occasions!

Great writing and attention to details. Really good development and pace. Awesome build. I was just excited to read it. I loved the cowboy speak as well, that was fun. I loved the dual POVs and while I really liked Quinn, I loved Tate! He was just oh so sweet and sexy and I couldn't wait to get back to him. I thought they both had great voices.

How a book can be swoon worthy and emotional all at once I have no idea but this totally was. A fantastic second chance romance. I loved it!
