Mastering the theory and application of electrical concepts is necessary for a successful career in the electrical installation or industrial maintenance fields, and this newly revised, full color text delivers! Delmar's Standard Textbook of Electricity, 3E trains aspiring electricians by blending concepts relating to electrical theory with practical 'how to' information that prepares students for situations commonly encountered on the job. Topics span the major aspects of the electrical field including atomic structure and basic electricity, direct and alternating current, basic circuit theory, three-phase circuits, single phase, transformers, generators, and motors. This revision retains all the hallmarks of our market-leading second edition, but displays enhancements such as new up-to-date photos, bonus learning features to advance student retention, and a new e.resource for instructors that takes the guesswork out of classroom preparation.
I'm back in school after a lot of years and this was my Basic Electricity textbook. My professor called it the best electricity textbook available. This is an excellent book on the fundamentals of electricity. Starting with atomic structure and electron flow theory and culminating with single phase motors, this is everything you need to know. The language is fairly engaging for a textbook and there are numerous helpful diagrams and illustrations spread throughout. There are also tons of practice problems that are laid out step by step to aid you in understand how to solve for unknowns in a circuit.
This one's only four stars for me, though, because there are several printing errors. This is bad. I mean, say you're trying to figure out how to solve for power in an AC circuit and the formula in the book is wrong. You'll spend an awful lot of time wondering why you're not getting even close to the correct answer. It's one thing if you're in class and can check things with your professor but, if you were trying to learn this on your own, you'd be in for some headaches.
Regardless, I can recommend this book to anyone with a desire to learn about electricity.
To understand electricity you need a good teacher, this book is more than a teacher can do it explains everything with details I recommend this for people who want to become better
