This book is a call to action. We spend about eighty percent of our day at work, the rest is at home. If we have a bad day at work we are likely to take that negativity home with us and vice versa. It is of paramount importance that we create healthy environments in the spaces that most affect our lives by giving of our best and receiving the like in return. The 5 Chairs is a powerful and systematic method which helps us master our own behaviours and manage the behaviours of others. To be a good leader is to contribute to the success and happiness of everyone, at work and at home, on a conscious level. The 5 Chairs offer 5 Choices. Which will you choose?
"One of the most practical books on emotional intelligence that I have ever read." Richard Barrett, Chairman and Founder of the Barrett Values Centre.
"Louise’s work is for people with the intelligence and humility to believe that in life one can always improve, one can try to understand before judging and one can listen to other people’s convictions no matter how diverse. In an increasingly multicultural, globalised world where managing diversity is key to success, Louise’s guidelines should be a moral obligation." Franco Moscetti CEO, Axel Glocal Business, previously CEO of Amplifon Ltd
"The 5 Chair experience is powerful. After reading the book you feel more equipped, excited even, to manage your daily behaviours and conversations in a completely new way, both at work and at home. It’s a real game changer." David Trickey CEO at TCO International and Partner at Viral Change TM
“Louise’s groundbreaking book is for anyone who is interested in bringing more empathy, emotional intelligence and consciousness into their career (and into their daily life). The examples in this insightful book are practical and easy to integrate, and it's a must-read for anyone who wants to be an inspiring and more effective Leader.” Ellen Looyen, Bestselling Author, “Branded for Life!”
Born in England to Welsh parents, Louise left home in her early 20s to work in the South of France which marked the beginning of her passion for travel and personal journey. After France, she moved to Germany. Then, in 1986, she settled in Florence, Italy which she considers her spiritual home.
Her professional journey began in educational organizations offering language and communication training to the corporate world. This suited her well. In this environment, she was able to use the skills she developed in the performing arts. Her move to Italy marked the beginning of her life as an entrepreneur and as a serious world traveler. Her passion for exploring other cultures inspired her to specialize in Cross-Cultural Diversity Management and Global Leadership, which she offers to multinational companies across the world as a facilitator, trainer, and coach. Having visited 75 countries and experienced culture shock three times, Louise enjoys bringing multiple perspectives to the present moment to help people connect across their differences.
Personal development has always been central to Louise’s life. Her desire for constant self-improvement was the driver of her own personal transformation in the presence of some extraordinary teachers, such as Thich Nhat Hahn, Eckhart Tolle of The Power of Now and, Marshall Rosenberg, the founder of Non-Violent Communication. These spiritual influencers inspired her to bring her own contribution to the world through her first book 5 Chairs, 5 Choices, a ten-year project created to help leaders, teams, and staff model behaviors for more inclusive workplaces.
Louise’s passion is to work with the human side of organizations. She believes deeply in people’s ability to grow and transform. Louise helps others find the courage to ask themselves the questions they have never asked themselves before so that they can truly excel in their lives. Since 1996, she has dedicated her professional life to developing her training and coaching project The 5 Chairs which is the core of all her professional activities.
Amazing book. I can't thank Louise enough for the practical approach she has taken to keep our Jackals at bay and be the best version of yourself. The biggest challenge we all face as a scoeity is the conditioning about competetion and the me mentality rather than a We are in this together mentality. Love this book!!! Thank you Louise for writing this book and sharing your wisdom
All of us, most of the time in life behave or react to a situation in a manner, which we, later on, analyze and question ouselves? Should I have not behaved in a little more patient manner or little more aggressive manner? Why did I react the way I did? These questions do come up almost in everyone's mind sometimes or other? These questions create doubt, fear, and confusion in the life. Many times, the clarity of vision for life ahead, which is so essential, for moving ahead happily in life gets blurred and dotted with doubt, fear, confusion, and resentment. The book explains quite lucidly and with examples that why did I behave in a particular manner. It also shows a way ahead to improve upon our reactions and behavior in the future in a very logical manner. An interesting reading and a good guide for the happy and easy handling of complex situations.
This was our ‘Off the Green’ Book club selection. Interesting thesis, but the data and examples needed to be updated with changes in technology. The book generated a great book club discussion though!
This book helps you think through how to view others with a more open mind. Awesome book, not a Christian book, but still very good. There is a YouTube video by the author too.
