Cindy Skaggs started gambling because she needed a quick financial turnaround for an investment opportunity, and her father was right there to pony up the bankroll. She learned valuable lessons that night in betting, bluffing, and folding, until she’d turned a dollar in nickels into some serious money: twelve dollars for a middle school yearbook.

Cindy grew up on stories of mob bosses, horse thieves, cold-blooded killers, and the last honest man. Most of those stories were even true. She has ten siblings, some of whom are older than her mother, has nieces and nephews older than her, and once went to a horse auction with John Wayne. Well, with him in the sense that he was there, and she was also... there. She was the munchkin in line for his autograph with tangled hair and bruised knees that liked to dance on her daddy’s dusty cowboy boots and listen to his tall tales.

With her love of storytelling and heroes, it’s no wonder she turned to books and stories after her father died. She skipped most of the eighth grade to bury herself in books while hidden in her closet, because she was still looking for the perfect story and the last honest man. Her search took her around the world with the Air Force as well as around the world with her education. She’s visited more countries than she can remember, nearly every state in the U.S., and has more degrees than the Tin Man.

As a single mom, she’s still gambling, betting on herself for the first time in her life, turning her lifelong love of storytelling into the one thing she can’t live without: writing. She writes 10,000 words a week in cafes and coffee shops, and some of those 10,000 words are even worth reading. She has an MA in Creative Writing, is working towards her Master of Fine Arts, and has three jobs, two kids, a Pushcart Nomination, more pets than she can possibly handle, and more works in progress than the crew filling potholes after a long Colorado winter.

Facebook is her guilty pleasure, the Twitterverse her happy place, and her blog the one place she’s not telling stories (fictional, anyway). This time around, she’s holding out for the last honest man. You can find her at www.CSkaggs.com

Release Date: December 12, 2016
Genre: Romantic Suspense
POV: Dual - 3rd person
Steam: 3
Series or Standalone: Can be read as a standalone but is book two of the Untouchables series
Publisher: Entangled Publishing (Ignite)

This was a first time read from this author but I can imagine picking up another one of her books based on my enjoyment with this one.

What I liked:
╰☆╮the strength of Victoria's character. She took nothing lying down and was a little force of nature.
╰☆╮Blake. I liked every single thing about him.
╰☆╮the sexual tension and chemistry between the main characters.
╰☆╮the fact that the main characters had a shared history
╰☆╮character development - Well... sorta. Victoria's seemed more thorough while Blake's was pretty vague.
╰☆╮the action and suspense of the plot. I was in each moment and couldn't predict the way things would turn out.
╰☆╮the side characters such as Eddie and Mick. I'm wondering if Mick will be getting his own story?

What I didn't like:
╰☆╮Victoria. I'm sorry, but she took abrasiveness and her aggression to new heights. I'm not sure how Blake could stand her. Glutton for punishment much? Most of her thoughts and actions and feelings and reactions were completely off base, OTT, and unnecessary. I respected her loyalty to her friends/family, but beyond that, I couldn't find much about her to like.
╰☆╮I was unsatisfied with the ending. It felt both rushed and unfinished. I'm not sure if this was done intentionally. Maybe it was a way for the story to lead into another book? If so, will the main characters remain the same? Maybe give the readers some closure? Because there is still some unfinished business still...

Overall, this was an entertaining suspenseful read and I would recommend it to anyone seeking a little thrill!

Okay, first thing is first. This book is marketed as a standalone but FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, don't subject yourself to that. These need to be read in order, there's no doubt about it. I feel like this review/rating probably would've gone better if that was an advertised fact (so I could've read the first book beforehand) but oh well, can't help it now.

I was definitely intrigued by the story line, but be sure to have a clear head because there's a lot going on and it's not always clear what's happening. There're a lot of jumps in dialogue, scenes, settings, to conclusions, etc. and I was left more than once shaking my head. Actually, in all honesty, there was probably a solid 60-70% of this book where I had no idea WTF was even happening. It's just a lot of words pushed together that weren't making sense in the context or order. I would seriously recommend a few good beta readers to help sort the plot our and give some advise on pacing because there were moments I was quite confused. For the most part I could grasp bits and pieces while finding out more info later (info that needed to be given at the time), so I was at least able to sort of keep up.

The blurb really drew me in and like I said, I was definitely interested. From the pieces I could grasp (it comes together more at the end), I liked the direction of the story and thought it would make one of the better romantic suspense novels I've read, once the pervious issues are sorted out.

“How is it possible no one uses your spot?” She couldn’t keep the spot in front of her house on a bet.
“It pays to know the owner.”
“The sign is more of a suggestion than a rule.” He gestured toward the front. “David keeps it open for me.”
“The no-neck son of a mountain goes by the name of David?”
“Not everyone is born with a cool bouncer name.” “Bouncer names are made, not born.”

As for the characters, I appreciated Blake but never really loved him; didn't hate him either, for the record. He was just sort of there, you know? And the heroine, Vicki, was more aggravating than anything. She seemed to be on a huge power trip because she grew up being told what to do by her mobster family (SHOCKER) and wouldn't listen to anyone or anything that wasn't her idea. She became old news really fast in my mind. Oh and she's a gypsy hypnotist. You know, in case I forgot to mention that.

I liked that these two had a shared history and it could be considered as a second chance romance, but I don't really see the point in this storyline. The author doesn't give enough details about their past so other than it being mentioned offhand that they dated in college, it doesn't at all read like a SCR.

“Fine. I’ll meet you somewhere.”
“Do I look like an idiot?”
He looked… Damn fine. Black leather jacket covered muscles she could only imagine, and his trousers showed off an ass so fine it could grace an underwear ad. What was the question? “I’m sorry?”
“You try to run, darlin’, I’ll hunt.” His eyes glittered. “And I like the chase.”

And what's up with that ending? It's completely open ended. Silly me for thinking we might get some semblance of a conclusion? It's honestly reads as unfinished. Like someone just decided to cut the last few chapters out and leave the story there. There's no closure, you're left with more questions than answers, and it felt like a watered down version of a cliffhanger. You're suppose to be left on the edge of your seat, but you don't have a enough information to go on. PLUS, I thought these were standalones?

I really wanted to like this book but for the aforementioned reasons, I couldn't justify giving it more than 3 stars today. I'd like to check out the next story (and subsequently the first as well) to see where the story goes from here, but I think it overall needed some more polishing.

I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading an action packed second chance romance and enthralling mobster suspense! I had thoroughly enjoyed 'Untouchable' the first novel in this series and the Christmas novella special story, 'An Untouchable Christmas' so jumped at the opportunity to read this sequel. This story concerns Victoria Calvetti who helped return her kidnapped nephew to his mum, her sister-in-law and best friend, Sophie, in the first novel in this series. Now Vicki hopes she, too, has escaped from the mob but her hopes are in vain. As her Uncle Manny, a mob hit man, leaves clues for her to follow she spots her first love, Blake Reilly and follows him into a club full of mobsters. She used to be untouchable because of her brother and father but, as both are now dead, others are out for revenge on her family. Walking into the Club could unwittingly ruin the undercover operation that Blake is involved with and puts both their lives at risk. . . .

This is a fast paced sequel which builds on the previous novel. It is very easy to empathise with Vicki, who has done her best to estrange herself from her mob family. You'd think that would be easy as both her parents and brother are now dead but no, once a mob princess they're unlikely to let you go. She has secrets that are hidden, so deep that she can't remember them. Can her job as a hypnotherapist help? What is it that others seek from her? Can Blake still protect her? He's determined she won't escape him this time but will their romance be rekindled or will the mob, their past and their family connections force them apart again?

When you step into this story, take care, beware of a hot undercover ex, drug running mobsters from a variety of gangs and not all on the same side, and whatever you do, don't forget her elderly uncle who was a mob hit man. With Blake and Mick out for revenge, can they still keep Vicki safe? This is a great page turner with a superb surprise ending!

Many thanks to the publishers for gifting me, without obligation, an ARC of this novel which lives up to its title as an 'Unforgettable' read via NetGalley.

Within minutes, this avid mafia romance NetGalley reviewer was thinking, “Yeah, she’s done it again.” Unforgettable, Book 2 of Cindy Skaggs’ Untouchable series, was pure mafioso perfection. With its classy book cover, engaging storyline, believable cast of characters, and dramatic mafia murder and mayhem conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed it, folks.

Though it is a stand-alone, I highly recommend you read Untouchable, Book 1, first. Mainly because it will give you in-depth insight into Victoria’s past, including current and deceased sub-characters/plot development, so you’ll really connect with what she’s been through and why she’s used to having to take matters into her own hands. Let’s just say this former mafia princess seems to be even more skilled in defending herself than Sophia, the feisty, take charge heroine in the previous book.

Though Blake was an undercover agent, he sure seemed to fit perfectly in his alpha male role as leader of the pack of a large group of criminal thugs. The good news for Victoria was regardless of which side he was currently working for, he always had her back from the moment he laid eyes on her again, years after their relationship ended. Yes, my fellow romance book-loving friends, this is a “second chance” themed, very steamy romantic tale laced with a vendetta, a ruthless mafia don who will stop at nothing to get what he wants, and several cleverly woven in twists and turns involving not just the plot but sub-characters, as well.

Thank you, Ms. Skaggs, for catching me off guard and keeping me on my toes. Though it ends with a happy for now conclusion, things are far from over, folks. There is a very big loose end that remains to be tied up, and the saga will continue in the next book, which is currently scheduled to release in April 2017.

I didn't read the first in the series but Cindy Skaggs was able to keep readers up to date without slowing down the story. I love the characters in the book and they really do click and believable the romance between Vicki and Blake felt more about sex and will burn out. When author write happily Ever Afters it has to be believable and this one wasn't even close to believable it was about control and sex.

The flow of the booked worked for this style of writing however I did get lost in the endless dialogue.

I was intrigued to start this series as I was in the mood for a thrilling action-packed romantic suspense novel with a lot of heart and heat. Unforgttabke definitely checked all of these boxes for sure!

While this can be a standalone, I do not recommend you read this without reading book one, Untouchable, first. With that being said, this book was a mafia lover's dream. The storyline was engaging, it was sexy and above all, it had heart. I really enjoyed Victoria and Blake together.

All in all, I loved this fast-paced novel with an alpha protective hero and a sassy heroine. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

Vicki Calvetti is a powerful Mafia princess, who has escaped that brutal life, as she wants no part of it. She's living her life on the down low, when all of a sudden, in the space of 24 hours, a mafia hitman, the FBI, Justice Department, and her one true love from the past, all makes appearances in her quiet life. These huge red flags show her that she's obviously not done with the family business, no matter what she thought. Blake Reilly is an undercover cop out to take down the most powerful crime syndicate for revenge. He gets the shock of his life when the girl that got away comes flying through the door of a meeting with more drug dealers than a pharmaceutical convention. Blake never got over her, nor understood why she left like she did, but he knows this time, if she runs, he will follow. When Vicki's life is in grave danger, will he be able to protect her while getting the revenge he craves?

Unforgettable had me glued to my seat while I devoured every last page in one sitting, so it's safe to say that I absolutely LOVED it! And it definitely kept my heart racing cover to cover. Vicki and Blake's simmering chemistry didn't take long to boil over into SMOKIN' HOT sexy scene goodness, and her snark made for hilarious well place humor to keep me laughing hard. Cindy Skaggs has a talented writing style that had me completely captivated from the very beginning, and I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough. I loved Vicki and Blake, plus quite a few of the colorful cast of secondaries, but I did get very upset with a few of his team, when they were very unreasonable about Vicki. The staggering amount of twists and turns kept my head spinning with f-bombs flying in every direction, but that ending! I really feel like I was left hanging big time, so I'm going to add Cindy Skaggs to the list of authors trying to KILL ME DEAD, and of course, she's hash tagged #EVILWHORE forevermore! CANNOT WAIT to read more of this exciting and diabolical author, so I'm going to HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Unforgettable to ALL!

Victoria Calvetti has done her best to distance herself from her family, since they're now all dead; you'd think it would be easy. But never so. Now living in Colorado a man she recognizes from the pst known as the Grim Reaper appears, then leaves her a cryptic message at the coffee shop she frequents. An address to go to. Her curiosity gets the best of her, Victoria is one feisty woman. Not someone you'd want to mess with. She now works as a hypnotherapist. As it turns out, this same day her heat stops working, the cat she didn't want to adopt escapes the house, a client shows up angry and she sees the Reaper. She's labeled it the worst day of her life. It's about to get worse. She goes to the club. Sitting outside watching who should she see walk up but the man she loved and left to save him (she told herself) with some "woman" on his arm. Her jealousy reared it's head and while she wasn't going to go in the club, she judged by the appearance of the bikes and men she saw walking in, wasn't a woman friendly club, she goes. There she sees Blake once again. And he sees her. A few fights ensue. Men are put it their place, it's because of who her family was. Not her, but her mob father and brother. Her brother dead, after she saved her best friend and child after she married her brother, to get her away from them. She blamed herself for not stopping things sooner. She carries a lot on her shoulders.
Blake clearly wants to pick up things, she wants nothing to do with him, assuming he's dirty and into the mob. She walks. He follows. Until he explains his role to her and what he's doing as they return to her house, that's been tossed and destroyed by someone looking for something. Blake is angry and demands she stay with him Vicki isn't happy but does so.

There's a cast of characters here that makes this story really click. I really liked Blake, and Eddie. You feel like Eddie is an old friend. Mick was a friend of Blake's. He's a bit rough around the edges but ok. Dez who was Blakes partner I didn't care for although we don't see much of her. She comes off bitchy. Vicki was annoying at times because she constantly argued with him, but she's also got this cool vibe going on. Other than that, the book flowed nicely and the story intriguing and you don't know what's going on truly until that last pages of the book. Well written and add some smoldering scenes in there and it was a great book. My only peeve is that is just ended.
I turned the page looking for more and, nada. I can only hope there's a second book that follows this one.
This book is a keeper.

description

Unforgettable was a great 5 star read.

Victoria Calvetti was the daughter of one of the most feared mob bosses in history.

Vicki is moving forward from the mob life after her brother's death. While leaving her home she see’s someone from her past and realizes she is being followed. Since she was little she has been taught how to watch for tails, etc. Why would they be coming for her?
Vicki gets brave and crashes a meeting at a club where she see’s Blake, the last person she ever expected. Why is he here?

Of course going to the meeting has put Vicki back on both the mob’s radar and Blakes.
Vicki has known Blake since they were very young. He is determined to get her back. When he finds out that her house was tossed he turns into protector mode. Can he keep her safe? Will Vicki run again?
“You try to run, darlin’, I’ll hunt.” His eyes glittered. “And I like the chase.”

There is so much more to this great read. Secrets are revealed and you won’t want to stop reading until your done. You get action, mystery, romance and suspense. I loved Vicki and how strong she was, growing up as a mob princess she didn’t have much choice. And Blake grew on me. I really enjoyed the secondary characters, they added a great element to the story. Cindy Skaggs does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I have not read any of the other books from the series and I was able to read and enjoy Unforgettable. I do plan to go back and catch up.
1-click and get started on this great read.

**I received a copy of Unforgettable from Entangled Publishing and Met Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**

Unforgettable by Cindy Skaggs is the second book in the series. I haven't read the first book so it took me about half the book to piece together the plot, so I'd recommend reading the first book before this one.

Victoria Calvetti was a mobsters daughter and sister who wanted nothing to do with either her father/brother or the family business. She's made a new life as a hypnotherapist in Colorado but a visit from her great uncle changes her comfortable life. Throw in a cryptic message, a ransacked house and the death of her cat she goes running into her old boyfriends arms. She didn't know he ran a strip club or that he was undercover for feds now. Little does she know that everything she had worked hard to forget comes back with a vengeance. But a rival foe of her father's wants what she has locked away and forgotten that will take a trigger to unlock her mind.

Blake Reilly wants to make sure that Vicki doesn't run from him this time and he'll do anything to protect her. But he will make sure she doesn't get involved with what he's spent the last two years undercover to catch a drug kingpin and the mob again. He loves her and will do anything to prove it to her including protecting her with a family friend which makes her resisting a constant chaperone. Beware of a hot sexy man, drug running mobsters, an elderly hit man who still has sniper skills , Blake's best friend,Mick, who wants justice from the same mob boss and a huge surprise ending. I'd have to say that it's a good story and I'll give it a solid 4.4 stars.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Readers Copy of this book.

I absolutely love second chance romances, and this one was fabulous! Victoria and Blake were together in college, but her life as a mafia princess and her need to protect those she loves sent her running. And while they may have been apart all these years, the memories of their time together haunted them both. A chance encounter brought them crashing back into the past and each other’s arms, but who would end up protecting whom this time around?

I loved this story! My heart was pounding from the start, whether it be from the unknown dangers that lurked around Victoria or the closeness of Blake. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for it all to come together. The chemistry between Victoria and Blake was palpable. I was melting with every mention of his voice and the nearness of him. The sex was passionate and sensual, and their falling in love was inevitable. I loved Victoria’s strength, sarcasm, vulnerability and her struggle to let herself love and belong to someone. And what can I say about Blake?! That man had me flushed and shaking with anticipation with each whisper and caress. And his love for Victoria was evident in everything he did.

This was a wonderful twist to the usual dark and intense mafia romance genre. I enjoyed the plot, but also wished for more closure to the criminal element and not just the love story. I’m hoping we’ll get more from this series and this particular story line down the road.

This was a great read by Cindy Skaggs that I was into from the first to the last pages of the book. Cindy Skaggs definitely knows how to draw you into the story right away and keep your attention until the very end!

Victoria has done everything she can to get away from her mobster father and brother and their family. Since most of them are dead, you would think that this would be easy for Victoria to do but that is not the case. They always seem to pop up somewhere and haunt her! When the Grimm Reaper shows up and leaves her a message and address for her to meet him at at her favorite coffee shop, she knows it can only be one person. Out of curiosity, Victoria goes to meet him. After the meeting, Victoria runs right back to her ex, Blake.

Blake is into a totally different business than Victoria is used to. He is running a strip club and is working with the Feds, but Victoria does not know that little tidbit. She only knows what she can see and she thinks that Blake is totally mixed up in the wrong stuff now. The suspense and action in this story will keep you turning the pages as well as the steamy scenes between Victoria and Blake. I don't want to give away anything in my review because you have to experience the story for yourself to get the whole effect of how this all ends. I hope that there are more stories in this Untouchables series in the near future from Cindy Skaggs. Great reads!

This review is based on an ARC that I received via NetGalley.com.
I received this book and read it not knowing all of the characters from the first book in the series. I found that this story was 95% understandable to those of us who didn’t read Sofia and Logan’s story.
I really bonded with the lead female, Victoria. A girl trying to escape her past and can’t quiet shake it, or the mob, that she didn’t participate in but is part of the blood lines.
Blake, the lead male, is picturesque. He and Victoria have a past that she tried to bury to save him. But when they cross paths again he may be the only one to keep her alive.
I loved the mystery surrounding the events that occur in Victoria’s life. But I will tell you it took me a minute to get engulfed in the books world. Not sure why the first chapter didn’t grab me straight away but it was so worth continuing the book. The story is beautifully written, with strong characters that grow throughout the story. When the twists of Victoria’s life affect Blake the magic that happens on the pages is powerful and never racking at the same time.
I can’t wait to see what happened to some of the other characters in the book.

This is a real page-turner. There were so many surprises that I didn't see coming, which is a treat for me because I normally predict how stories will go. This is the third installment in the Untouchables Series, and while I want to read the previous novel and novella I was quite comfortable reading Unforgettable first.

One of the things I like most about Cindy Skaggs' stories is the male voice. The male characters sound convincingly male. Another is that the female characters kick butt. I just adored watching Vicki hold her own in a bar fight. I think I actually got in a couple of hits vicariously!

Manny, Eddie, Dez and Mike were a fantastic supporting cast.

There are some books that I believe my husband would enjoy reading as much as I did. This is one. I would recommend it to couples who enjoy reading a book together. This has romance, mystery, suspense and a lot of action. I truly hope there will be another novel to continue this story line--getting the mob boss his just desserts. Five stars.

Since I had read the first one of this I had to venture into this one. I like the way this author can pull you in fill you with suspense and romance while she does it. In this one she delivers yet again another feisty suspense brimming with heat of romance. Vicki thinks she has gotten away but when things do not get closer or the like they will pop up somewhere. This is also a second chance because of Blake being in the club that Vicki walks into with him in it. Their paths cross again with that really setting it up to click because things keep happening. They also have other characters with them that will ensure you have a full bodied read with nothing lacking. They will have their dance, their stubbornness and feisty times inbetween the drama. By the time you reach the conclusion you will not forget this one anytime soon.

First read from Cindy Skaggs and it was good full of action and suspense to make you keep reading without realizing how late in the night it is; but I think I should have read the first book even tho this was marked as a standalone I felt a bit lost at times but still figured it out. Vicki (Victoria) Calvetti daughter of one of the most feared mob bosses in history has done everything possible to distance herself from her family past. Having a new life in Colorado as a hypnotherapist she thought she final was free until she see’s her uncle the Grimm Reaper one of the mafia’s lethal hit-man and she knows thing are about to change if she wants them to or not. Unforgettable was a great read!! It was the second book in the Untouchables series but can be read as a stand alone. I do plan to read Untouchable next though because that story sounds so good & it might answer some questions.

The heat between Vickie & Blake is HOT. The story moves at a great pace & has a lot of drama.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Undercover agent Blake Reilly never thought he’d see Vicki Calvetti ever again. So, when she walks back into his life and into the sort of dangerous situation she escaped from with being part of a powerful family that ran the mob, he’ll do anything to keep her safe. Fortunately, Vicki proves just how capable she is in protecting herself, until a threat from Blake’s past and a memory she’s done her best to forget threaten to turn her world upside down. Read More

Only downgraded from a 5* because although stated it's a standalone you really should read the earlier books because otherwise you will be reeling trying to sort out all the tangled webs!

Victoria Calvetti, former mob princess not therapist, has tried to run from her shady family but they keep coming back to haunt her. She did what she could to save her sister in law and nephew from her psychotic brother and his thugs, but it strained their relationship and she can't really blame her for distancing herself from her foul family. But when she catches a glimpse of her "Uncle Manny" - think mob hitman, on the street, she gets summoned to give evidence and has her home tossed, she realises that once again being a Calvetti is ruining her life.

Sitting outside a sleazy club waiting to make contact with Manny, she can't believe her eyes when she sees her old flame Blake. She abandoned him in college, trying to save him from being infected by her family. But when she makes a scene Blake steps into save her from herself!

Blake never really got over Victoria, even though he is now an undercover cop, not exactly a wise move to be crushing on a mob boss daughter! Victoria can't and won't get involved with shady characters again and does her best to resist Blake's charms but before she knows it she is in his bed and part of his op!

This was a real nest of storylines with undercover cops, reunited love, strained family dynamics and a weirdly lovable cost of less than sterling characters! Blake is just uber sexy on a stick. Eddie is the affable uncle, who just happens to be former mob, Mick the staunch sidekick and Dez, well I'm not sure what to make of her yet! Victoria is oh so manipulative and scheming, she is a real piece of work but oddly vulnerable and fragile at the same time.

I would have loved a wee epilogue or something but it just kinda ended and I wanted something to tease me into the next book. But otherwise very well written and thought out story.

This is my first book by this author but it certainly won’t be my last. From the first few pages it was obvious that this was going to be a book that would hold my attention. I felt as if the author has literally enveloped me with a storyline and characters that was going to be impossible to shrug off.
Life as the daughter of a father heavily ingrained with the mob, Victoria has tried so hard to distance herself from everything that her family seemed to stand for, but it wasn’t as easy as she and I for that matter thought it would be, I mean dang most of the were long gone but their spectre seemed to loom over her like a poisonous cloud.
Blake is Victoria’s ex, but is what they had truly in the past or is there the chance that they may get to rekindle their relationship?
Well, after a meeting that she would have rather avoided at all cost, Victoria is at his door and it is all about to get gloriously complicated.
Blake isn’t what Victoria thinks, there is more to this man than meets the eye and as much as she assumes that she knows what is going, he is playing his cards very close to his chest. His involvement with the authorities completely threw me!
There is so much stuffed between the pages of this book that taking it all will require you to pay close attention. If you can do that then by the time you get to the end you will have more than satisfied smile on your face…you will feel content.
I loved the authors writing style, the dynamic that she put between the couple and the fact that’s he was able to draw out the suspense and action just long enough to have you itching to get the details. Her timing was perfect!

Unforgettable
By: Cindy Skaggs

4.5 Star Review by Kristie K

Cindy Skaggs has delivered a sinfully seductive, and passionately suspenseful story, Unforgettable indeed...

Victoria Calvetti has risked everything to save the only family she has left. Little does she know that the greatest risks of all have yet to reveal themselves. Forever marked a spoiled mob princess, Victoria has learned to watch her own back, and belongs to no one. When a blast from her past lands smack in her lap, fate ups the ante and Victoria is fighting for more than just her life. She's fighting for her heart...

Blake Reilly never did get over Victoria Calvetti, and when she tumbles into his life at the worst possible moment, Blake vows then and there to keep her safe. Fate is a fickle bitch, and it doesn't take long to realize that Vicki is fighting for her life, and holding the key to everything...especially his heart.

I absolutely couldn't put this book down. I fought sleep, husbands, and children to just keep reading! A stunning exhibit of intelligence and wit, the tangled webs Ms. Skaggs wove throughout this book were intricate and twisting. She took me on a thrill ride, from beginning to end, and it's a ride I would gladly take again. The characters were so well developed, complex, and I fell head over heels for each and every one of them. The storyline and plot were nearly flawless, and full of intricate details that kept me on my toes. I guarantee I will be searching out other works by Ms. Skaggs, and can't wait to see what she comes out with next.

I had a little bit of a hard time to get into this book. This was, because I was under the impression that this one is a standalone. It is not. It is almost impossible to get into the story without knowing what happened before. Yu guess yourself through most of the plot till some question are answered. I wish I had known that before, so I could have read the first book as well.
It is as it is, I didn’t have the first one and tried to hang on through the story. After a while I finally got the knack of things which made it easier to follow through and connect with the characters. Unfortunately my favorite character was a side character and not one of the main characters, because both of them had too much secrets from each other for my opinion. I know it might have been important for the plot and all that, but so much would have been easier when they would have trusted each other a bit more. I am not saying that they should have spilled everything they had, but a little more trust in each other would have been nice.
The writing style was good. It was in fact the only thing that kept me interested long enough to understand the things that happened before this book. The author is really talented and I can’t wait to start the whole series properly from book one or read something else from this author.
The end was really good and I loved how everything turned out more or less right for everyone.
3,5 stars for this book.

Victoria “Vicki” Calvetti starts our suspense right away. Is she paranoid or does she have the right to feel the way she does. Blake Reilly is a man who is hard to figure out. But as I read, I find that it’s actually Vicki that’s hard to figure out. This little mystery is what kept me going. I’m terrible at solving them but then I have an author who helps me out. On top of that we get a little action and suspense – all tied up with a Mafia bow.
You know this story has Mafia ties but it doesn’t overtake the story. If it did, Blake and Vicki would get lost. The reader gets just enough intrigue so that you will want to know how this will affect out couple in the end. Vicki is one tough cookie and she kinda knows how to take care of herself but finds it hard to give up control. I found her job interesting and interesting how that job affected her personally. Blake has a job where he walks a fine line but when Vicki ends up in his personal space it was interesting to watch how parts of his life changed. The only thing I can’t tell is if the author has given her readers a happy ending. So the questions I have is does this mean we have another book coming? Will we see more of Vicki and Blake? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Vicki is a Mafia Princess but is finally out of the life and living comfortably as a hyptnotist. When she sees her Uncle Manny, a hitman for the mob, outside her house, Vicki knows something is up. Not sure what is going on, Uncle Manny starts leaving her clues. One leads her to Deja Vu, a club owned by Vicki's ex, Blake. Blake is shocked when Vicki walks into the club after so many years. But she's in danger but no one knows why. Vicki is her own woman and doesn't need a man to protect her but Blake thinks otherwise. I liked the bantering between an alpha male and a strong woman.

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book, which I received from NetGalley & Entangled Publishing.

The action in this book was non-stop. Something was happening every few minutes, it seemed. I enjoyed the level of excitement the author was able to generate, ensuring that I kept reading.

My main issue with the book was this: for the first part of this book, Victoria's role in Sofia & Logan's story seemed to be the main focus. It was only after I got to 62% on my Kindle that this book came into its own, in my opinion. After that, it definitely made up for any misgivings I had.

Victoria and Blake can no more control their attraction to each other than they could control the outcome of the case Blake is working undercover & its connection to Victoria's past. Half of their allure as a couple is the constant push and pull between them - neither wants to give up control.

I definitely recommend this installment in the series. It's a very good book.

This is the second book in the series, I haven't read the first book and did get a bit lost off so I suggest you read the books in order. Victoria is a mob daughter/ sister who has tried to make a new life for herself, but the past is coming back to haunt her. Blake is an ex love who Victoria left as she thought she was protecting him, now he's working undercover and Victoria has walked into the middle of trouble. Blake vows to protect her and now that he's been given a second chance with her, he's not letting her go. This book is full of twists and turns, some you don't see coming. It did take me a bit to get into it but once I did I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between the pair is sizzling, the book does just end, I hope we get a follow up book for them. Another great read from this author.
