Former Navy SEAL Miles Lynch came home from Iraq with the nickname “Mild.” His dirty little secret? It's easy to stay calm when you don't care about anything. He learned the hard way that happy endings don't exist—fighting for the cause only got him broken and disillusioned.

Explosives expert Lale Sakir knows a thing or two about chemistry, but only on paper. When it comes to men? Total novice. But when she agrees to create an artificial coral reef for Aqueous Adventures as an excursion site near the Caribbean island Miles calls home, will the unexpected heat between them cause too many complications… or melt the polar ice cap around his heart?

3.5 stars.

The latest visit to the Bahamian resort of Duchess Island sees us introduced to former SEAL, Miles Lynch and explosives expert, Lale Sakir, tasked with creating a coral reef for Aqueous Adventures.

"What kind of explosions are we talking about? Loud? Fast?"
"Oh, yeah. All the above. One that expands and grows, eating everything in its path with flame and heat."

Sexy, heartwarming and with a little bit of suspense thrown in, what struck me about this couple was how private they both were. But with a natural ease around one another, as they open up the chemistry between them builds. And Miles is a master when it comes to subtle dirty innuendo

description

Whilst I would have like a little more made of the stalker aspect, overall Protecting Her SEAL is an enjoyable addition to the ASSIGNMENT: Caribbean Nights series and paves the way for Jack and Thora's story nicely.

I received this ARC and am voluntarily providing my review.

Lale has arrived in the Bahamas to get away from the unrest in her home country of Turkey. Her brother sent her away to keep her safe and now she is desperate to reach him and make sure he is safe too. As an explosives expert she has been hired by Miles Lynch and Aqueous Adventures to help build an artificial reef to expand their business. As an innocent woman she is little prepared for the feelings she finds herself having for the larger than life, but quiet man.

Miles Lynch is known as 'mild' for his quiet, mild-mannered persona ever since he returned from his last tour of duty a changed man. Unable to deal with the things he experienced he let everything inside turn to ice. He doesn't get attached, he doesn't love, he is just aloof and distant. His team mates tolerate and help as much as they can and being in business with them is the only thing that keeps him going and gives him some kind of direction in life. Then he meets Lale, the explosives expert with the sexy as hell accent, and personality that demands that she is in charge. And suddenly Miles finds a need to protect someone again. Too bad Lale is determined to take care of herself, even when someome slipping through the shadows has danger written all over him.

This is one of my favorite authors and a terrific series. My only reason for giving this book 4/5 stars is that the issues of someone stalking Lale were never fully addressed, but rather swept under the carpet so to speak.

Another sexy SEAL takes center stage as the Assignment: Caribbean Nights series continues with Miles' story! He's a troubled guy, and we learn a bit of his history, but he's still fairly secretive ... which pairs him well when he meets and is instantly attracted to his leading lady who has a boatload of back story she isn't sharing of her own!

Miles Lynch is the most at peace he's been since he left the service here on their little piece of heaven island in the Caribbean. He works and lives surrounded by his former SEAL teammates as they run a vacation excursion business together. Now he's looking to enhance one of their services, and gets hooked up with an expert to help him out.

Lale Sakir comes highly recommended by Charlie's girl Audra, but Miles isn't so sure about trusting a woman with explosives until he meets her. He doesn't know what a tough girl looks like until he first interacts with Lale. She's in a bad situation and really needs this job! She says all the right things and Miles can't wait to see the artificial coral reef she is going to help them create!

When attraction flairs, will they decide to make this more than a working relationship?

I just finished spectacular Protecting He SEAL by the phenomenal Kat Cantrell. This is the latest book the Assignment: Caribbean Nights series, and I must say it is just as fantastic as the previous books in this series.
In this book, we have Miles who sees himself as damaged. He had forgotten how to “care” after all he has seen during his tours in Iraq. He describes himself as cold, and unfeeling. We also have Lale. She has built a wall of ice around her heart. She has lost everything she has ever loved, even Tarsin, her much loved cat that she brought with her from Turkey.
One of my favorite parts in the book is when Lale opens that little box and…. Oops, NO SPOILERS!!
I loved watching these two bring down their walls and fall in love, even if one of them was too stupid to admit it and… Darn, I said no spoilers.
Ms. Cantrell has become a favorite author of mine ever since I started reading her Harlequin books a few years ago.
Thank you for reading my review.

These two were so so sweet and genuine throughout their story. I loved watching both of them struggle with their feelings and heal from their pasts

I purchased a copy of the steamy post military novel Protecting Her SEAL (ASSIGNMENT: Caribbean Nights Book 5): Miles and Lale by Kat Cantrell and this review was given freely.
A slow burn instant attraction romance with a dark undertone and some suspense but focuses mainly on the romance and Lale's troubles.
Struggling with depression and both the lack of thrills and excitement in his life since leaving the military but disillusioned by his Admiral father and continued global warfare, emotionally reserved former Navy SEAL's explosive expert Miles Lynch proposes to add a scuba diving venue to Aqueous Adventures which allows him to combine two of his favorite things but also challenges his emotions while bringing danger in the form of Turkish explant and coral reef engineer Lale.
18+ for intimate scenes. Can be read as a standalone as there is a brief recap. Best if read in series order.

Protecting her seal

Miles and Lake's story starts when they meet to work on reef building job. She has the knowledge to set the structure for the reef. She is abrupt and outputting but it doesn't make him run for cover. He is known for his patience and he will need it to deal with her. Great storyline and characters including characters from previous books that you get to follow their relationships as well. Would recommend it to people who like military romances.

I've read some really boring HF books lately so I turned to my reliable standby, military romance, to cleanse my palate. Kat Cantrell delivers a fun, steamy romp in the Caribbean. Perfect light reading.

Again Duchess Island is a great place to live. MIles and his business partners /buddies pull off a miracle to expand their business and Lale is there to help Miles break the ice running through his veins. Well written and pulls you in from the start. Strong characters who all have each others back.

Loving it

I've enjoyed each and every Seal story I've read. I especially like getting to hear about all the guys in all the books. Keeping up to date on what's happening with them all. This story was different from the others. The danger factor gave it a nice twist. I enjoyed Lale's toughness yet innocence. She was the perfect fit to break the walls down that Miles had built up around his happiness.
