This book is a real winner!!! I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. KV Rider knows how to deliver romance and intrigue in her debut novel, The Real Winner. If you love cowboys, a headstrong heroine and mystery with romance then this book is for you. From page one, I was hooked and had to keep reading. I don't want to give any of the plot away, and this book is heavy on plot, lots of twists and turns that will leave you guessing. I'm anxiously awaiting her next book to see how everything plays out. FIVE INTRIGUING STARS!

4/5 Stars!!

Well, this pricked at the feminist in me...all man ranch. Grr! lol!

Okay, seriously, though. The Real Winner is just that...a winner.

A headstrong, sassy heroine paired with a cocky, alpha cowboy plus a mystery and a little danger make for a great read! I loved the characters. The writing was great. This is most definitely a plot driven book with lots of twists and turns, so this is all you will get from me. I refuse to ruin this for anyone!

Now, go read it!

What do you get when you pair a self-assured woman with a cocky cowboy? Sparks, and they were flying between Casey and Jason. I found myself reading really fast to get to the next plot twist in this book. Seriously, there was so much going on with all of the characters that it made for a fast read. I kept asking who is the antagonist, and it wasn’t who I expected it to be. I liked the interaction between Casey and Lynn. I’m glad it’s a series, and I can’t wait for the next book.

While this story felt a bit slow at first once you get into it it's an amazing book filled with some twists and turns you might not see coming. It's filled with romance, suspense and a bit of mystery. I'm excited to see where the next book takes us.

I am not a huge fan of rating books less than three stars; just because *I* don't like a book doesn't mean that it won't be the best book someone else has read.

WHAT I LIKED: The feminist in me was cheering on the fact that a woman had won a coveted spot at Jason's ranch. I like strong female characters, especially ones who fight back against slimeballs and the alpha males who think women don't belong somewhere.

I devoured Jackie Collins books when I was a teenager and loved that there was always some mystery/suspense going on amongst all of the romance. The Real Winner reminded me of how much I loved the air of mystery/suspense, even if it was rather easy to figure out who the stalker, etc. were.

I loved the easy friendships between Lynn and Casey, as well as the friendship that Casey built up with Danny, who became like a father figure to her.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: The dialogue was stilted and rather embarrassing to read. There were times when I wondered if I was reading about adults or angsty teenagers.

The author's writing is choppy, all over the place, and there were some rather major mistakes to the plot and sub-plot. I was often confused as I tried to make sense of why this person was with this person when they should have been with that person. Or she should have been here, but she was there. There were also things that happened that were just too bizarre, even for a completely fictional book. I don't mind stepping out of the box and authors being creative, but

After awhile I found myself skimming through because I was bored and frustrated.

Lastly, I don't mind cliffhangers, but this book just...stopped! There was no setup for a sequel, it just...ended and that had me throwing my kindle down in disgust, startling my cat and my husband as I muttered angrily under my breath.

I suppose there will *have* to be a sequel in order for the mystery/suspense sub-plot loose ends to be tied up. If not, then the author is doing a disservice to her fans by not tying up all of the loose ends she left behind.

CONCLUSION: I find myself less than likely to be purchasing any sequel to this book.

Disclaimer: I received a review copy of this book from the publisher at my request. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Please Note: There is some strong language, sexual content, and violent content. May not be suitable for readers under the age of 18.

it was an excellent book K.V Rider writes a can't put down kinda book that keeps you up until you finish it.I like how Jason must get out of his comfort zone to truly be with casey and since everything has happend since casey moved to the ranch she seem to get herself it a heap of trouble and Jason doesn't trust her until something happens to her. so from there on out he takes care of her and develops feelings for casey that he believes shouldn't be there
