Hi, I'm Shane Van Aulen and I have to admit that I'm not good at the whole social media thing, even though I'm a writer.

As an independent author, I have found the road difficult to get my voice out in a traditional way. I've written eight novels to date; two epic fantasy, four military science fiction, a mystery/action/detective science fiction thriller and one apocalypse survival novel (I wanted to prove you could have a zombie story without your main character being an idiot and dropping his gun on every other page).

In my youth, I was an avid reader of fantasy and sci-fi though sometimes I would find a book and throw it at the corner of my room declaring that I could write a better story. I believe that declaration stuck with me as I created ideas for more novels than I could ever write.

I won't bore you with the details of my life, some of which are on the last page of my books. Instead, I'd like to say that I'm a writer who enjoys a good story. I try to do my best to make novels that will draw my readers in and make them glad they took the time to read my books.

My books are action filled and fast paced with heroes who are likable if sometimes flawed. As my heroes are flawed so am I. I'm a self-published author who spends countless hours writing, editing and proofing my novels. I also fail sometimes to find every error or typo and for that, I apologize in advance.

For those who just want to ask a question or would like to be alerted when a new novel comes out, you can contact me at graywolf.clan@gmail.com. I always write back to emails from readers. Also, you can leave comments, questions, and discussions on my Goodreads Author's site.

I also want to thank those fans that have contacted me over the years and who have encouraged me to keep writing. You are the best!

Thanks and I hope you enjoy my books.

Riveting.

I especially liked Mike Collin's development as a character. He is shown as a strong lead and is given more opportunities as an officer. Start the next book asap.

Great storyline poor editing.

Quite exciting. Unfortunately the author seems to depend entirely on spell check for editing, causing literally hundreds of misused words sprinkled on every chapter. This is very distracting. He also recycles identical explanations over and over throughout the work. The story and characters manage to be compelling despite the distractions, however.

Grossly Inept Writing, Editing and Proofreading-An Embarrassment

"Wolf's Run: The Chase of War," is the second book in the "Star Wolf Squadron," series authored by Mr. Shane VanAulen.
The author's mediocre story concept had some potential, but the complete failure of writing execution, cogent plots, editing, and proofreading, fully buried the potential. Time to play taps over this disaster.

Storyline continues with human space fleet fighting against a brutal, sadistic, matriarchal humanoid alien race. A portion of colonized space is cut off, and a band of intrepid, always successful spacers, fight a "behind the lines" war. There's the stealth attack cruiser "Star Wolf," Knight Templers, lots of sword fights, genetically enhanced humans, telepathic alien dominatrixes, and romance.

The author has hobbled together a inane fairytale of a SciFi Saga. Knights Templer, obnoxiously incessant, oft times inaccurate, historical "factoids," infatuation with martial arts and swords (really Freudian about swords), all framed on the brutality and sadism of the Japanese Empire in WW II.

The writing, editing, and proofreading are god awful. Sentences are mainly runaway run-ons. Syntax, grammar border on illiteracy. Wrong words appear regularly (i.e.-"play load" for payload, "a mid-ship [sic]" for amidship, "are" for our). Whole sections from a Book 1 are "cut and pasted" verbatim into this book. Sections, passages in this book are needlessly repeated. The scope of how bad the writing execution, for a commercially offered product, is startling. Frankly, the author should be embarrassed to place his name on this work product.

The eBook is NOT recommended and was fully read via Kindle Unlimited. Only time and monthly fee wasted.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: FANTASTIC NEW MILITARY SPACE OPERA

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I loved the first book about the Star Wolf! The second volume is even better! Lt. Michael Collins (heroic name for the protagonist of the book), formerly scheduled to be a mere Ensign in the Confederation Space Force, finds himself cut off by an alien invasion that seized his segment of solar systems.

In the earlier book, Collins helps steal a damaged Confederation cruiser. Following a breakout from the star repair dock, Collins distinguishes himself as a commando and an officer while serving as a Confederation chartered privateer.

In this second volume, he continues to excel at war. Shane VanAulen introduces some interesting ideas: a dueling society, TWO Christian military orders, and hints of several different mysterious events and actions.

This book is extremely well written. I Highly Recommend both books, and look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Good story

A good space opera with potential to be great. As long as the author is an telling the story it is very interesting. I did have to knock off one star because of his habit of explaining some of the same things in the same book over and over. A bit of history to explain context is great. But seriously explaining the same point three, four or even five time is ridiculous. Fortunately the subjects he does that with are limited. The quality of the rest of the story kept my attention. With some better editing I think this author could become very good.

This book was as good as the first. Great character development, engaging storylines, a believable universe and exciting action. The writing is excellent as well; except for the abundance of typos, extra words and incorrect words. The author admits he does not have an editor, but it might be worth the price investment. Or at least turn off the auto word complete when writing. There is, on average, at least one error per paragraph. Having said that...I CAN NOT wait for the next installment - if it were not for the typos, I would give this s book 5 stars.

Solid Story

Really enjoyed the story, book two of the Star Wolf. Good world building and relatable characters. Author loves his history and does lay it on pretty thick and does slow the story down at times but since I love history as well, I liked it. Really enjoyable read, go for it and middle through the really poor editing. Almost all Kindle books have sloppy editing. If you want perfect read Lee Child produced by a major publishing company. Would have given 5 stars but for the editing.

Absolutely wonderful stuff - I've now read all three of this series and really hope that it continues for a long time. The note in the comments to the effect of no proof reader made me laugh because i found VERY few grammar mistakes. The Author shows his stuff in a great story that keeps you guessing as you say just one more page.

Poor grammar ruined a great book

This has been a great story. Believable characters and fun action sequences. But poor grammar made it too difficult to read easily. Better proofreading would make it a five star book.

Love the story lines

I am devouring these books. I have been a military sci-fi fan a LONG TIME. Plenty of battles against long odds, and our heroes contrive the way out.

The editing is non existent, but you can get by it.

I really hate books that start with something that happens in the future, I just groan out loud when I read a chapter and turn over the page to find the next chapter starts with ‘ Two months earlier’.

As for the actual story, I though this was an excellent old school space opera and even though I thought there was a bit too much recapping of the previous book I enjoyed most of the book.

However, I may be doing the author a disservice but I do find his attitude to women is at best a bit nineteenth century. In nearly every case females are portrayed as either evil or medical angels. The very few who aren’t, are usually killed off fairly quickly. I am also a little worried that the only gay person in the two books is depicted as a snivelling traitor.

It was a bit of a dilemma trying to decide on the rating for this book, in the end I have given it 3 stars.

Something New comes about every time

In this book we get introductions to new people which includes templer knights. This leads to more sword fighting. And a whole new place to set up business Behind Enemy lines. Please make sure you read all the epilogues keep scrolling until you get to the very end. It's adding a whole lot more information.

Loved the book but...

The 2 book series has been fantastic, but I did have one gripe with the second. Recapping. I would rather authors in general put a preface to read the first book or maybe a small recap. What is annoying is to have to skip huge segments because they are rehashing info from a previous book. Other than that, have really enjoyed the story and characters.
