Rachel remembered nothing of the past. Her sister Merrilea remembers too much.

IMMORTAL continues the saga of the Trelawneys of Williamsburg, which began in 1746 with the love story of Rachel and slave-trader Grey Trelawney. IMMORTAL is the story of Merrilea Miller, the younger sister of Rachel, who has been raised in hiding by her grandmother, Hannah Hastings ("Nan"), an English woman with a stormy, sorrowful past and many secrets.

(Please note this is the second in a series and is more enjoyable when read following TENDER, Book 1.)

When Merrilea was still a toddler, Nan changed her name to Marley Hastings for her own protection - and for Nan's.

Join Marley, an archaeologist and Williamsburg historian as she discovers the "Lost Sea Captain" in the dig of an 18th-century ship found in a construction site in Norfolk. When she goes on a Caribbean vacation with Nan, Marley herself nearly drowns in a tropical storm until she's rescued by a handsome sea captain.

Marley soon learns she's traveled in time and that Hawk and his best friend, Raven, support the burgeoning American revolution on their ship, the Adventurer, as privateers in the year 1775. The crew wages valiant fights against Royal Navy warships on the high seas, British Army gunners at the Battle of Great Bridge, and the villainous Lucian Caine, who has returned from the past to settle an old score he had with the Trelawneys.

As shy Marley falls in love with the charming Hawk, he brings her out of her shell and teaches her to have courage. Hawk himself is pleasantly surprised at the passion revealed in the fiery young woman. Marley soon comes to believe that Hawk is indeed the Lost Sea Captain - but how can she intervene in his fate without upsetting history?

When they arrive in Boston to visit Raven's family, Marley learns that her family has an unshakable bond with them - again, going back to her sister, Rachel.

And at last they visit Rosalie - where Marley is surprised to get a glimpse into the very time portal where her own sister traveled to Rosalie thirty years before.

I received an arc from NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. This is one of my favorite reads of 2016. It had so much mystery that I found myself thinking about it, and trying to figure out things before they were revealed. I enjoyed the time travel to the revolutionary war period. I would say it's the best time travel novel I've ever read. The main character Marley was a lovable and strong woman, and her romance with Bronson (aka Hawk) is swoon worthy. I look forward to more by this author!

This is the second book in this wonderful series and I would recommend that you read book one Tender first

This book centres around Rachels(whose story was the first book) younger sister Merrilea whose name was changed to Marley she remembers Rachel as she was raised by their Nan rather than been adopted like Rachel. Marley has become an archeologist specialising in the Williamsburg area. She has recently been working on a ship found in a abandoned shipyard. When she travels on holidays she nearly drowns in a tropical storm sh he is saved by a sea captain and discovers she has travelled back through time. She is now with Bronson “Hawk” Trelawney (Grey from the first books younger brother) he is a blockade runner.

This is an extremely well written book and is just as good as the fist book which isn't always the case I would recommend highly but please make sure you read them in order

" Immortal " is the second book in this wonderful series in Time travel ....i found it ok ...i loved book one Tender more...
This is the 2nd sister Marley's story ... Marley is on vacation in the Caribbean with her grandmother Nan when she is tossed overboard and wakes up in the 18th century in the arms of Bronson “Hawk” Trelawney; Grey Trelawney’s younger brother. She falls in love with Hawk ...

This book contains all the elements suspense, action,Romance, adventure, pirates ,freedon struggle for slaves ... but it was too lengthy ...so many characters , descriptions, interwined stories of secondary characters dat lost track of the actual story ...the link was getting disrupted & it became confusing ... still would like toread Juliana's the youngest & 3rd sister's story ...

This book has such a great love story in it and continues the story of the Trelawneys of Williamsburg. The descriptive writing and the characters made this a good read. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

This book is the second of three stories of historical romance mixed with time travel. Through the adventures of three sisters of our days (in this book the middle sister’s) we get to experience live lessons on that section of American history when this country was being formed as a new nation. It is exciting, exhilarating, intense, very often outright dangerous - as life in those times should feel.

It is well written, although there is still the small problem of often not knowing which of the characters is speaking. But it was great fun, an adventure that I got immersed in happily.

In the first book, you meet Rachel adopted she does not remember her sisters. This is the story of Marley one of her sister. Running to Florida Marley and her grandmother are running from abuse by Jimmy her grandmother’s boyfriend. They set sail on a cruise and then there is a terrible storm and the next thing Marley is in the past. Like the first story, we are now off and running. I love books that incorporate American history both the good and the bad in such a skilled manner. I am really enjoying this series. Make sure you start with the first one if you do I bet you will be hooked like me. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

They are sisters one has no memories and the other knows too much. Will they come to a better understanding of why things are as they are? Name changes and meeting a man may open their eyes to what is really going on. See if they will find out

Immortal is the second book in The Trelawneys of Williamsburg series and picks up sort of where Tender book one left off but with a different sister on a different day. Tender was Rachel’s story and Immortal is Marley’s story. Where Rachel has forgotten everything about their lives together Marley remembers it all. While Rachel was adopted Marley was raised by their grandmother “Nan”.

Marley and Nan are on vacation in the Caribbean when Marley is tossed overboard during a storm and nearly drowns and then wakes up in the 18th century in the arms of Bronson “Hawk” Trelawney; Grey Trelawney’s younger brother. Rachel woke up in 1746 while Marley wakes up in 1775 where she meets Hawk and his best friend and co-captain Rashall “Raven” Adams.

Marley soon learns that Nan has kept a lot of secrets from her over the years like her name. Her name is not really Marley it is Merrilea. She learns why her sisters were kept from her all those years and what really happened to her parents.

When Marley meets Camisha for the first time something seems awful familiar about Camisha but she can’t quiet put her finger on it. Then she learns that Camisha is her sister Rachel’s best friend and that she time traveled as well. Marley comes to love Camisha just as much as Rachel.

Marley also falls head over heels in love with the little brother Bronson “Hawk” too. Hawk brings Marley out of her shy shell and teaches her a thing or two about life. But Miss Marley also teaches Mr. Hawk a few things as well. I loved how strong willed, opinionated and soft hearted Marley is and how she wants to help everyone as well.
Camisha and Rachel are sisters of the heart while Marley and Rachel are biological sisters. I think that Marley and Camisha have become sisters of the heart as well.

While I loved reading both Tender and Immortal I think I would have to say that I think Immortal is the best one I think. Oh it is too hard of choice to make. But trust me they are both out of this world great and you will love going back in time with Marley or Rachel probably just as much as I did.

I loved how all the stories and everyone’s lives all weave in and out of each other’s in one way or another. It amazes me how anyone can keep all of that apart when writing such an amazing story. Astounding!

Now I would like to know about their other sister Julianna and her story but I would also like to know more about Rachel, Marley, Hawk, Grey, Emily, Camisha and Raven. I would like to see everyone get together for a family reunion and compare stories.

Picking up with the story and mystery started in Tender, Anne Meredith brings us one of Rachel’s forgotten sisters, Merrilea (Marley) and the grandmother Rachel never knew, Hannah (Nan). Merrilea’s name was changed when she was a toddler and went to live with Nan, for their protection. Now an archaeologist, Marley is working on a dig site in Norfolk. Thinking that this could possibly be the lost ship The Adventurer, a privateering ship sailing in 1775.

A break from the dig site takes Marley and Nan to a Carribbean vacation, their first, and a tropical storm nearly drowns Marley. She wakes in the arms of a charming man, a ship’s captain named Hawk, from that self-same ship that Marley believes is the focus of her work in Norfolk.

Many secrets are revealed to Marley: from the time slip she made with Hawk to her grandmother’s efforts to keep her safe, her sister’s relationship with Grey Trewlawney and his ties to Hawk and Raven, and even the real story of her parents’ death and the current threats to her life in the present. All while learning to rely on her own curiosity and courage, and perhaps take a chance on love, with Hawk. But how can she sort out the man she knows with the future she also knows has happened, and just when (or will) she come to meet her sister.

Meredith has again created a hard to put down story, occasionally complicated with the multiple threads of past and present, the secret reveals, and the added complexity of “knowing the future” and what is safe to reveal. Actual history infuses the feel of the story, lending an air of authenticity to the historic moments with detail and descriptions that allow readers easily visualized moments. One difficulty I did have with the book was the occasional moments where readers were addressed almost directly by the characters, finding those moments felt more awkward and forced then other more common pov reveals.

Not a book to be read before reading Tender, the ever-complex story of the Miller sisters and their ties to early America is a gripping and engaging read, full of fantasy, romance, history and mysteries, sure to please many.

I received an eBook copy of the title from the author for purpose of honest review:. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Another great book in a great series that is a must read for time travel enthusiasts
I absolutely loved the first book in the series (Tender) and I actually thought it was a tiny bit better than this book, but this one carried on the series very well and I still enjoyed it immensely. This one was more based on the high seas rather than the land as Tender was. These books hold a lot of American History and all round human interest, and love, and I am fascinated with the ongoing thread, although each book has its own HEA which I appreciate. No cliffhangers here, but I still can't wait to read the third one which isn't even written yet, lol. To the author, you have another winner here. Thank you so much for the ARC for this book - I didn't have to review it but I am more than happy to do so for such an excellent book. I am sorry to have finished it, and am waiting impatiently for the next in the series.

Marley has been separated from her sisters for 2 decades. She was raised by her Nan. She is a historian. While on a day cruise, her life is forever changed. A sun bronzed man plucks her from the hands of death. When she wakes, she thinks she is dreaming. Who wouldn't, when you wake to find yourself in a historic time?

She is learning to live in this time. She is attracted to the Sea Captain. She starts to learn the truth of her family. Will their love survive? Will she be able to stay or will she be forced to return to the 21st century?

I enjoyed this story. I hope there is a third.

Immortal is the second book in the Trelawneys of Williamsburg series by Anne Meredith. It is the continuation of the story of the Trelawneys and Millers. In this novel Rachael's sister Merrilea or Marley travels back in time to 1775 and is rescued at sea by Bronson Treylawney. I loved the first book in this series and this one is even better.

The story begins with the Boston Massacre and the martyrdom of Crispus Attucks a black man who was protecting a child trying to collect a debt.

Next we meet Marley who's been living with her "nan" since her parents death. Marley is a historian and archeologist investigating a finding of a "lost sea captain" at an archeological dig. Going on vacation to the Caribbean with her nan Marley is washed overboard on a day cruise, transported back to 1775 and rescued by Bronson Trelawney. Bronson is a privateer and Camisha Adam's son Rashall is his partner.

Arriving back in Boston with Marley, Bronson and Rashall the reader is taken on a tour of the beginning of the Revolutionary War. Traveling to Virginia Marley, Bronson and Rashall participate in The Battle of the Great Bridge.

What I love about this series of books is the way Anne Meredith takes us through history with a slant not generally written about. Slavery is a huge part of the story but not the negative aspect usually written about. We meet Washington and Jefferson, two slave holders who don't believe one man can own another. Although both would free their slaves they realize it's safer at this time to keep them as a form of protection from the unscrupulous who would sell a free black man into the hellish slavery of southern plantations.

These books offer the truth of what the forefathers of this country believed. Jefferson's call for the Declaration of Independence to abolish slavery is a big part of this story. Also we learn the political reasons he was forced to leave it out.

Instead of being portrayed as the villains today's society erroneously believes these patriots to be we meet the real men and learn their true beliefs. Also, we are shown the great contributions made by free and enslaved black men and women in the fight for freedom and the establishment of this great country even though they still weren't guaranteed a better life for their sacrifice.

This is the true history little known and unfortunately no longer taught in our schools. It is a history to be proud of, not mocked by those who don't know or understand it.

As in the previous book the storyline is wonderful and flows easily. Character development leaves the reader feeling like they know these characters.

I recommend EVERYONE who is a U.S. citizen read this series of books. This is the TRUE history of our forefathers, patriots and colonists. Hopefully it will encourage you to pick up some history books and learn the truth of these men and women who sacrificed EVERYTHING to give us all the freedoms we take for granted today.

I'm really enjoying this series, however it does get a little confusing at times trying to keep up with how everyone is related. I do appreciate the break down of characters at the end but I would like to be able to refer back to an actual family tree. A few times the author made a choice I found a bit jarring. In acting it's called "dropping the fourth wall", in writing I'm not sure. She, meaning the author, chose to address her readers on actions taking place in the book. To me it came across as awkward and not necessary in the least, and could have easily been avoided. I've just finished rereading several Louisa May Alcott books and she often uses the same device. Of course she refers to "her dear readers" which thankfully Ms Meredith doesn't.
I know I've pointed out a few flaws but need to say I really enjoyed the story telling and would recommend the series.

When you use a President in your book please know which number he is. President Jefferson was not the 2nd but the 3rd.

Just as a preface, this is not my usual genre. I’m not really a Colonial girl more Georgian England for my historical romance. If you like Colonial ...and you like Highlander....you’ll probably love this. I’m not a big fan of either but I’m glad I gave this try. It has a lot of merit and I can see the appeal even though it’s not for me.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second installment of this series and is the story of Marley and Bronson. Instead of picking up where Tender leaves off, it actually starts at the same time but follows Marley's timeline. I appreciated the character development in this book more than Tender just because I feel like there was more of it. We saw Marley grow into a stronger, more confident woman and we saw Bronson fall hopelessly in love with her. These two are quite a pair. We traveled more geographically in this book with the characters being sailors.

When Marley travels back, she is actually 30 years later than when Rachel landed. So Rachel and Grey are already gone but Camisha is still around with her family. Given the time period of this, the book has characters meeting George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and being a part of the new war for independence. This lends itself to more excitement and action than the first book.

However, I was a little thrown off by the various people travelling and everyone landing in different times. It was just a lot to take in. They actually just took a chapter and had Nan spell everything out. It seems like a lot of trouble to go through for a revenge story. The end of the book foreshadows the next in the series, so it will be interesting how it all plays out. I'm wondering if there will be a happy ending with the sisters being together since everyone is in different timelines/periods.

Like in the first book, I am also a little taken aback by how easily the character adjusts to life in the 17oos. I understand if she appreciates simplicity and all of that, but no one would roll with it as easily as Marley and Rachel have. This also leaves me wondering how Grey and Emily have adjusted to the 2000s.
