Over the years since a series of catastrophic natural disasters left most of the Earth in ruins, those who survived have returned to a much more primitive way of life. In this harsh world, men fight to protect what remains of humanity while women care for their homes, bear children to rebuild civilization, and obey their husbands or face stern chastisement.Twenty-year-old Lara has grown used to fending for herself, but when she defies the strict rules of the community she ends up in deep trouble. To avoid banishment, she is informed that she must spend three months as the prisoner of two battle-hardened commanders of the village's soldiers, during which time she will be required to submit to them in any way they demand. The commanders intend to ensure that Lara is taught a lesson she will never forget, and soon she is blushing with shame as her bottom is thoroughly punished, both inside and out. Despite her sore backside, however, she finds herself quivering with desire and begging for more when the two handsome, dominant warriors show her all the ways in which a man can enjoy a woman. But when Lara learns of a dire threat to the village, can she convince her men to heed her warnings or will she be forced to take matters into her own hands?Publisher's Kept by the Commanders includes spankings, sexual scenes including threesomes, and elements of BDSM. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

HOLY MOTHER! This book is super hawt and uber erotic. If you are looking for some naught filled pages, then this my friends is your lotto winner. This is a hawt ménage with elements of BDSM and a whole lotta spanking throughout this entire story. The long *snickers* and the longer *bigger snicker* of it is that the world as we know of it gone. There are a lot of factions who are not good people and some factions that are good people. Tye and Rex protect their group of people but are not happy when Lara infiltrates their family/people. They offer her a deal and she takes it. This is the deal “Do what we say when we say it and you can stay here and be protected OR Get out and be on your own.” SO Lara takes the men up on the deal. Obviously the three start to develop love and mutual respect but the past is still causing issued for the ménage to formally solidify a forever for them. Lara and the Commanders must learn to rely on each other as well as themselves to make the connection a forever one.
Can you believe it!?! I now have two new favorite authors! A good story that shows that an experience can scare you away from the best parts of life if you let it. Being able to push through fear and chance pain can be at times rewarded with the best that life has to offer.
This story held my interest from beginning to end, and I really enjoyed it. The setting is post apocalyptic in a society of small settlements, with some people on the outside. It was never made clear to me why Lara grew up living on the outside of settlements, when it was far more dangerous to do so, but it is that experience that makes her character more believable - in a decidedly fantasy setting.
The set up for Lara being 'kept by the commanders' was so blatantly unfair I had some real difficulty buying into it. Lara has been dressing as a man in order to seek revenge on the people who killed her mother and brother, and she has real skill in making and using weapons. The story begins when her gender has been 'outed' after saving one of the commander's life. Had she been a man, her actions would be considered heroic, but as she is a woman she must be punished for lying. My feminist feathers were really ruffled over this ridiculous double standard, but as it was not the world I know I tried to just accept the rules as stated. Luckily, Lara is far more accepting of her punishment, and even ends up enjoying a good deal of it. The punishments were undoubtedly erotic - despite the unfairness - and I loved the resolution of the story which made up for my ruffled feathers. ;-)
A series of natural events has left the Earth largely uninhabited. Survivors have banded together in small villages. Unfortunately conflict has led to frequent wars between the villages. Lara grew up outside the villages, learning to fend for herself and her family. When her family is killed she has no choice, but to seek refuge in one of the villages. Rather than go in as a helpless female, she dresses as a man and joins the village army. Unfortunately she is soon discovered and rather than face banishment from the village, she agrees to a three month term of punishment from the two top commanders.
I enjoyed this story. Lara was a unique character. She was submissive to the commanders, but was still willing to defy the commanders when she felt her community was at risk. Tye and Rex were a nice mix of stern and compassionate. The characters worked well together.
I received an ARC of this book from Stormy Night Publications.
Our heroine disobeyed the law by lying and joining the military. women were to stay home and be protected since the end of the world. The two commanders that took her in as punishment were very thorough in the punishments as well as unique in punishing her. This does have a HEA and i wish there was more background on our heroine such as how did she live so long without a village when normally people who were banished died??? Otherwise, great sexy read. Lots of bdsm elements.
I received a copy from Stormy Night Publications and voluntarily reviewed it.
I believe this is my first Maria Monroe book (but it will not be my last). This was a very entertaining story. I like that Lara was strong character. Rex an Tye are a nice compliment to each other and make the menage dynamic really work. This is another author that was kind enough to give us an epilogue that nicely wraps up the story.
