Sienna Nealon is the most powerful person in the world. She's beaten every enemy that has ever come at her, faced threats of every conceivable kind and bested all of them. But when a new threat raises its head, one dwelling deep in the belly of the internet, she finds herself far, far out of her depth, and in need of help from an old friend in order to stop a new enemy bent on causing damage of a kind she's never before seen.
Robert J. Crane was born and raised on Florida's Space Coast before moving to the upper midwest in search of cooler climates and more palatable beer. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in English Creative Writing. He worked for a year as a substitute teacher and worked in the financial services field for seven years while writing in his spare time.
I've read a lot of books by Robert. A lot. I know that, if you look at other reviews I've done of his books, I will comment about his ability to keep the story fresh, despite the fact that we are now on book 12 of the second series involving Sienna and her compatriots.
Yes, his writing is fresh and of a consistently high standard. But this book? I honestly think that this is the best in the series (so far).
I don't want to give anything away, but this book works on many different levels. For me, however, the story, told from 3 points of view, sets Sienna's isolation against the support which her friends and family enjoy. That juxtaposition and the path to forgiveness and redemption is handled beautifully.
The reveal though? Didn't see that one coming. What a hook.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book.
Wow....Book 12 - I just can't get enough of the one and only Sienna..... I enjoyed the relationship of Sienna and Jamal working together. We finally get to see more of Jamal and learn of his story. Also, I was happy to see Reed back in action....I love Reed!!
Waiting to see what Sienna has for us in her next venture...
#12, like the 11 novels prior in the Out of the Box series is a great addition to my library. I love this series. Each novel is in it's own way distinguishable. Sienna is humor and sassiness all rolled into one spitfire character that I have grown to both love and hate. I want her to do the right thing, and in this novel she does. Crane writes perfectly the balance between her and her ex. He makes us believe that there can be happiness, but as always, there's a chance of that happiness to be taken away.
If you're a follower of Crane, this series is another one for you to pick up. If not I would recommend it in a heartbeat. If you have stopped with the series, be sure to grab this one because it is riveting and mysterious in a way not many of them are, and we don't know what to expect until it happens.
In general the formula is so set In place that it feels like concrete. References to her weight, long passages of conversation to fill out what would otherwise be a slim novel and too many references to dated pop culture.
As a result these books are similar to watching a sitcom. You know what is going to happen, surprises are few, and they are revealed at the end of the 22 minutes
The number of mental stops for egregious errors was down significantly, but still ... The storyline keeps evolving, and what I once saw as a possibility actually happened. One. Out of a couple thousand in this "galaxy". Mr. Crane, you keep writing and I'll keep reading ;-)
I thought by now I would be tired of this series, but I'm not. This book seemed refreshing and flowed really well. I loved that I got to know Jamal better. This was like a double adventure.
These books keep getting better and better. The story line twists between Sienna, Jamal,Reed and the others. Sienna out on her own, Reed working for the new *agency* except now he's starting to wonder who is signing the cheques
Just love this series. Twists and turns, ups and downs and more surprises that a haunted house. However even with the foreshadowing, I didn't see the end of this one! Well done.
Really liked this one. I’d make only minimal changes (if that were possible). Much fuller plot. The story lines be holds together well. I do miss some of the brutal deaths!! Miss Nealon is growing into herself. She needs a significant other. I have my guess.
I’m so happy reed is getting better and rejoined the world and he kicked major ass. I’m really worried about sienna though because she’s starting to get really cocky which is extremely dangerous in this world. I hope she starts training again at least.
This was good and I'm so pleased that I guessed right of who "the boss" is. Now if we can just get them back together???? But time is a great healer they say. Thanks Robert. Hope you don't mind I feel we are definitely diping times into friendships.
It was alright to read nothing like the first 21 books of the series. Wan not impressed with the story line. Think I might take a break from them for a bite. Not in a hurry to live to the next book like the ones before.
Twists and unexpected turns, loads of plots and intrigue filled with action. Love how all the characters are developing. Cannot wait to read the next book!
When you begin to think how can they surprise me anymore? Bam! Surprise! It’s been educational to watch how these characters have changed both with power and emotion!
