This was a pretty good true crime book. There were a couple of killers that I had heard of but have never read anything about them. But there are other killers that I had read about before, but there was more detail in this book. WARNING: This book is very graphic and not for the faint of heart as the author goes into details of how the killers murdered their victims. Also there is a bonus book included in this edition. Four star rating on this one.
Very interesting read; however, the repetition of details and complete narratives were unnecessary. Some dates and info differed from previous statements, but otherwise a very knowledgeable presentation. I have read other works by RJ Parker and the details and narrative are well delivered.
When Parker wrote about the case of former officer Dormer, he went on about racial micro aggression. Being an ethnic Jew, I have seen real racism, and it's not as bad as he is overplaying it. He's forgotten that mass killers always have a contrived excuse, and we haven't had Jim Crow laws for fifty years. He should listen to Candice Owens, David Clarke, and other successful black people. They're not as rare as people think that they are, so racism isn't the problem that lazy journalists are trying to make of it.
The information was good, however it was all over the place. There is no great time line for the events, murder dates, court dates, etc. This is a self published book that I read for free, but the author could have gotten someone to help edit. Short stubby sentences, run on sentences, missing words, etc.
That being said, it was interesting, if hard to follow. Again I read it for free, so I can't complain too much.
I'm not sure who, if anyone, edited this book, but it was difficult to read. The language is awkward and stilted and facts are repeated multiple times. Other than a photo of an electrocuted Ted Bundy, there was not much new here. And be forewarned: only half of this book is about serial killers. The other half is about cop killer Christopher Dorner.
Overall in reading this book, it was very eye-opening. Some of the things about Bundy I knew and lot I didn't.The information on Jeffrey Dahmer, to me was very disgusting. I have read other things about these killers, but this book was more informative. The information wasn't overwhelming, some things were new to me and some I knew. I am a fan of true crime. I've been reading true crime for years. It may sound eerie but, sometimes I find true crime more interesting than a novel.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The volume contains accounts of Albert Fish, Ted Bundy, Dennis Nilsen, Jeffrey Dahmer, Gary Ridgway and Edmund Kemper. There is a bonus chapter about Christopher Dorner.
Anyone that enjoys true crime will thoroughly appreciate the author. He writes what I have seen to be factual crimes, and the resolutions. This book included a few cases I had never read. Did not want to put this down once I started reading.
A condensed guide to six prolific serial killers who preyed upon their communities. Scariest part is where most are just like friendly neighbors, no one suspected as bodies piled up.
To repetitive . State the obvious over and over again. Not worth the time to read. Looking for something else to show what you can do to change the outcome.
If you love reading True Crime, I think this is a great book to add to your collection! Author RJ Parker did a great job on this interesting, easy and quick read! This collection includes chapters on the following 6 serial killers: Albert Fish: (suspected of murdering up to 30 children, admitted to 3 and convicted of 1) Ted Bundy: (suspected victim count is from 30-100) Dennis Nilsen (aka "The English Jeffrey Dahmer") Jeffrey Dahmer (aka " The Milwaukee Cannibal") Gary Ridgeway ((aka "The Green River Killer") Edmund Kemper (aka " The Co-ed Killer") PLUS..there is a bonus book included! Revenge Killings (also by RJ Parker) is about serial cop killer, Chris Dorner. Both books include pictures in the Kindle version!
This book is a quick read about killers most have heard of. If you are just getting into true crime and serial killers this book will give you the rundown on some of the well known ones. Some of the chapters do tend to repeat parts however, that had me going back pages at first to see if I had lost my place some how.
This is a great collection of 6 famous serial killers, Fish, Bundy, Nilsen, Dahmer, Ridgway and Kemper. There is a lot of new information that I had not heard of before on these killers and their crimes. This is an excellent reference book for any TC library. I am looking forward to future volumes.
I wasn't very impressed with this book. The author repeats himself very often within each chapter, as well as making sentences more complicated than they need to be an effort to look like a better creative writer. But it always falls flat.
It was interesting if you want to know the facts and not the story behind it. The dates and facts however jump all over the place where you find yourself thinking what did I miss.
