Definitely useful but mostly to revise pre-exam. The instructions are limited and you need to work out the points by yourself from a few examples.
Having said that, the exercises were relevant and quite challenging. The mock exam at the end was a good practice as well.
I would have given it 5stars if there were a sense of progression in the book. Unfortunately, the order in which structures are covered (taught? Reviewed?) doesn't built upon upon previous knowledge which can be intimidating when you're not yet a confident N5 candidate.

Loved this book! This book is of course acts as an additional/ studying book, and though sometimes the exercises in this book are simple, I think it served its purpose.
I like the fact that at the back of this book there's this mock up N5 test, complete with choukai (listening test). It even has the answer marking sheet!

A solid choice for Japanese language study, some parts can be a little difficult to follow, and the downloadable audio tracks are spoken at a pace much faster than I can process, but that aside I've enjoyed reading this book and have learnt a lot. I will pick up the next volume of this series.
